/tg/ is worse at chess than even MTG

I'm terrible at chess but I like to play with my housemates and some of my other friends. I'm not that interested in memorizing openings and stuff, but I really love mid-game stuff and I like playing chess puzzles sometimes.

I played at a local chess tournament and in the six rounds I only beat an eleven year old (who should have beaten me, it was only tricks and dodgy risky moves that spooked him which won me game three) and an old dude whose face looked like a poached tomato.
