Basically the premise of kingdom death is a bunch of suddenly aware humans wake up in a world where there's only darkness, mind bending horrors, and the landscape is made up almost entirely of carved stone faces.

You and your fellow blank slate survivors must survive year after year by hunting down these monsters to wear their skin as a hat, and their bones as weapons and the rest of their flesh as food. Like the monster hunter series.

the people you control will die a lot. and the monsters you hunt often have strangely human characteristics to them, sometimes human sexual characteristics.

On the plus side, the women are almost universally sexy.

There was an idea I had considered fleshing out involving a queen bartering with the gods:

I suppose it is difficult to be completely original nowadays, though I suppose it helps to look at already existing ideas to draw inspiration from.

Another idea I had involved an evil overlord performing the cliché of kidnapping a princess to hold her for ransom, only for her father to condemn her to her fate since he already has plenty of kids to continue the noble line and basically makes her worthless.

Long story short, she was free to go but chose to work for the Evil Overlord, became his protégé and eventually one of his lieutenants, and with his help overthrew her kingdom where she was then instated as its ruler and rules it with an iron fist under his supervision.

He was a halfling fighter that fashioned some chitin armor out of a giant crab he killed and made himself a claw weapon by killing a Hook Horror, removing one of its hook-like claws,and shortened it down so he could properly wield it. Closest I ever got was a hard-working and optimistic "I will beat death!" style necromancer, who focused all of his spells through a special piece of luggage he carried. It contained an immobile, but undead infant who became a conduit for his power in exchange for getting to piggyback on his senses and emotions. This allowed its soul to learn, grow, and experience the life it was so unfairly deprived of. It was also second of two patients the necromancer was unable to save through regular medicine, the first being the mother, who died in childbirth.

High school was fun. Nowadays, this sort of character would be derided as being too edgy.

Maiesta RPG, or something along those lines. The maker has a DA page under that name with WIP rules and arwork.

The basic premise, IIRC, is that all magic in the setting is derived from spirits (ie. a mage casting a fireball spell is actually asking for a spirt associated with fire to create a ball of fire where he's pointing). Some women have an ability to let a spirit take residence in her womb, which greatly increases her magical abilities because the connection to the spirit lets her directly channel magical energy. The spirit in turn will gain a corporeal form which they normally lack.

There's a few classes that are different variants of basic spell-casters, some that use the spirt-power to augment their bodies, and one that just focuses on quickly creating and birthing bodies for a lot of weak spirits and using them as minions.

Since we've been talking about this Kingdom Death I've been reading up on it.

Not all that surprised that they literally put Guts in as a promo figure (with a special scenario based on him being the 100-man slayer)

What DID surprise me though is they also put a promo homage to Link in the game, except she's a woman (With Insanity 9 and Courage 9) who's own scenario involves consecutive boss battles with monsters and each victory giving her new equipment to choose from.

but I really like the character concept, anon. it's actually a perfect character for more of a sci-fi story, because it brings up all kinds of questions of the moral obligations of healers/doctors, and then the implications of living a virtual life by experiencing things only through another person. Maybe brings up stuff about the suffering (or lack of suffering) of patients in vegetative states and what measure of "realness" makes a life worth living, if it even matters.

I can see a doctor on star trek rigging up some pseudoscience technobabble bullshit to accomplish something like this if he were unable to save the life of an infant because of his own perceived malpractice or failure. Maybe hooks the brain up to a holodeck so it could live out a full life. Then the captain would get pissed at him for making such a morally grey abomination. Speaking of things we want to do in our campaigns, after binging their playlist I want to insert expies of the three of them into a Superhero game.
A hero-trio originally from Japan but now operating across the world, were imbued by the Metal Fox with supernatural power taking the form of superhuman martial arts (KARATE) and general Powers of METAL, like being to Scream people into oblivion and deflect attacks through their the aura of their vocals.

That character is literally Satan, who created twin female avatars to incarnate into at the same time so he could wander the hellscape that is the setting and fuck everyone, both literally and figuratively, causing untold carnage wherever they go.
They wear armor made from tongues so they can share ever explicit sensation each encounters.

Honestly some of the stuff in series sounds amusing but I can't get into a game where every campaign ends in a guaranteed BAD END, where your entire settlement is fucked and nothing was achieved no matter what you do.
It becomes nothing but self-degradation as the makers of the game masturbate over you.

If there was an endless variant and some sort of continuing goals based on the ridiculous wealth of setting lore they have written it would be more interesting, as it is most of it doesn't matter in the slightest and they've created a bunch of models for characters who are already dead and you never have a chance to actually interact with.
There's already a game mode in the rulebook titled 'Immortal Heroes' where it says you start off with greater stats and instead of dying whenever one of your survivors bites it they just return to camp for that round, so it doesn't seem they are entirely against ridiculous degrees lf heroism despite it all.
