So, now that the made to order service has been officially announced, does it live up to your expectations? Are you mad that x faction hasn't been released yet?
>>
>>49794856
I just want the old terrain back
>>
>>49794856
I'm just patiently waiting for some old fantasy pieces to have their turn.
>>
>>49794856
Why is Hugh Laurie carrying a huge wrench?
>>
I'll be interested once they announce marine models.
>>
>>49794939
Same reason Marlon Brando is carrying a pair of jerry cans, dummy.
>>
>>49794856
Pretty lacklustre selection to start with, and the fact that they're doing some kind of rotation is frustrating. I didn't want to get my hopes up, but I did and I'm disappointed.
>>
>>49794856
All of this week I've been waiting for today Saturday for the NEW stuff to come out.
I expected the new Magnus the red.
I expected plastic sisters of battle.
I expected diaz daemonettes of slaanesh (and others like old archaon).
AND ALL I FUCKING GET IS THIS SHITTY MODELS CRAFTED BY A CHILD WHAT THE FUCK
>>
>>49794856
wow its fucking nothing
>>
>>49795041

Jaded cynics.

Jaded heretic
>>
>>49795027
lacklustre?

With Kasrkin they picked one of the most demanded units.
>>
>>49795159
Yea, if I didn't have a Kasrkin squad already, I'd jump on it in a heartbeat.
Of what they're releasing I'm thinking of getting Macharius, Al Rahem and maybe Tallarn captain. There's this Shotgun Veteran squad I was meaning to build, maybe I could make them all Tallarns.

I wish they did a reprinting of limited edition models for this made to order thing.
>>
KASRKIN SQUAD, READY FOR WAR
>>
Makes sense. This is a test of course, to see if the made on order thing takes flight without loosing too much money over it from the start. Pretty smart choosing the karskin as vanguard. They probably remembered how the scions were ill recieved at first and tried to play on that.
I don't play Guard but here's hoping the thing pays.

I find this as a proof that the new CEO has good ideas but the higher ups are not gonna let him do risky things like this without proof that they're not wasting money
>>
>>49794887

What terrain is that?
>>
>>49795321
Could also be a test to see what old stuff they should update.
>>
>>49795323
Probably the old Fantasy terrain, like the Altar of Skulls, Magewrath Throne, Eternity Stairs, Watchtower, Skullvane Manse, etc.
>>
>>49795321
c-could this actually be a good time to get into 40k?

People like you are the reason WFB died and 40k is going down the drain.

It's never a good time to get into anything. So go ahead, join us

well, my first Tau models are on the way already so here goes nothing

I want my motherfucking tomb kings back. Kaskrin are cool and all, but only having a small selection of very niche units isn't very useful for the majority of us.

>>

A squad of fire warriors and a hammerhead on ebay, and the Start collecting set from GW

Nice start. Hope you have fun.

>and the fact that they're doing some kind of rotation is frustrating

This is what frustrates me the most.
Its a simple tactic to urge people to buy "everything" now, because they might fear it will never return.. And i know that i will likely fall for that as well.
>>
>>49795531
>announce stock catalogue
>wait four weeks for orders to accrue
>fulfill orders with limited batch runs
>absolute minimum factory and warehouse space to keep cost down
>repeat process with new catalogue
The Chinese are masters of this. It allows enough versatility that there is always some job demand you can tap into, and it keeps factory and warehouse floor space to a minimum ($$$) instead of trying to fulfill all the orders all the time and have surplus stock taking up warehouse space. Disadvantage is it is much slower to respond to demand but for things like Made To Order it's the perfect process.
>>
>>49795041
>I didn't look up information on when and when what new stuff was going out

>>
>>49795027
>>49795663
>rabble rabble it's a scare tactic
It's a cost cutting tactic. They already have warehouses of stock that moves slowly without contributing to that, and they can't afford to have production for the entire OOP range set up 24/7 just to satisfy your desire to buy a box of Mordians in six months.
>>
>>49795755
Not yet. I think a Necromunda would drum up enough interest for a batch.
>>

They're working on it.

I actually just bought him to turn him into Doomguy with one of Pig Iron's helmet.

Just picked up a few of theses goodies, I'm glad that i did as everyone at my local shop said it would be over tomorrow.
>>
Just bought Lord Solar Macharius twice, one to paint up and one to use as a statue in a terrain piece. Also bought the old special characters and a couple of other models as conversion fodder. This is pretty neat, I hope they keep releasing old stuff. Shame I already spent a ton of money on Kasrkin on ebay though.

are the new minis in plastic/resin/metal?

metal

I just bought him as well. I'm gonna buy some Macharius tanks and have Lord Solar Macharius, Spearheading the assault in a Macharius Vanquisher tank.

Read the descriptions.

The OP guys are now resin, but most of the older guard models are good old metals.
>>

They're all metal, which I don't mind too much. Would have preferred plastic obviously, but at least they're not finecast.

Everyone knows the UK site has always updated first - but the reason this hasn't been fixed yet is shameful.

Also, "made to order" heavily

that *WE* would get to choose from a catalog to order older figs. The impression I get now is that models will be made to *GW's* order, and we just get to pay 10-40 bucks apiece for any infantry oldies GW cares to stock.

>>
>>49797285
Your options are metal, resin (finecast) and plastic.

Finecast and metal can, kinda, use the same rubber moulds. Plastic can't, you need steel moulds for that (£$€), which in turn means many of the old sculpts simply can't be done (soft rubber moulds allows for slight overhang, steel does not).
>>
I was expecting the entire old school catalogue to be up for order atleast the wfb armies that were squatted, i guess in retrospect it was foolish to think so but there wasnt exactly much info out there of how the system is going to work.

Not sure if i like how gw just chooses a selection of miniatures to put up nor any indication of when this will change to another group of mini's, or if the old lot will still remain when they do change to another group.
>>
>>49797785

>>
>£25 for 10 Karskin

Are these CHEAPER than they used to be?
>>
>>49797785
From the looks of it, GW are doing made to order on the basis of if they can get the old Molds working first.

It's smart really, because some of them they won't be able to promise.
>>
>>49798644
They're roughly the same, I think. At most they're £5 more than they were.

Check out the vintage guard squads, they're £21.50, back in the day they were £20. The classic stuff is actually sensibly priced.
>>
>>49798740
The Old Karskin box only came with one Special weapon though didn't it?
>>
>>49798761
Two, one flamer, one grenade launcher.

>>
>>49799462
>used to be

That's the important point here, anon, it "used to be." It's got nothing to do with remembering shit. People aren't excited because "finally, for the first time in GW history, you can order stuff that's not in stock" but "yay, I can once again order stuff that's not in stock."
>>
>>49797634

It says this is temporary, so they won't bring back old minis for order to build forever?

>>49802422
Better stock up now to resell later.
>>
>>49802422
they are trialling it out, my local GW manager told me that if some sell well enough (read, if enough of you fucks buy shit) then it shall be continued, but the continuation may not be immediately, it may have something like a few months delay as they have to get shit back to full production.
>>
>>49803797
I thought it was obvious that they were testing the waters with this limited release.
>>
>>49796370
Cadians are all right but they need to put those abortions they call the catachans to sleep, seriously. At least update them to the standard of the command squad
