You have been tasked with creating a tabletop RPG based on a recently released intellectual property.

What do you choose?
>>
>>49792879
How 'recently' we talking?
>>
Riyria Revelations. Clever, well developed, and little known.

It's perfect to base a low-fantasy game off of.

Bit older than 5 years but it's such a fucking cool universe

I've ran a few rogue trader style campaigns within it
>>
>>49792902
YES.
>>
By "recently released," does the first installment have to be within the five-year time frame or can it be a longer-running IP that released a title within five years?
>>
>>49792975
It has to have had its first installment recently.
>>
>>49792903
Even though you're probably gonna get banned for posting it, I agree. Fusion, weird weapons, lots of different character options, there's so many cool things to do with that setting.

Shokugeki no Soma. Why? Because there's never been a cooking-centric TTRPG. I'm going for it purely for the novelty value.

Obviously based on an RPG system (probably a refluffed PF game), and while the plot is childish in execution (he attempted to handle adult themes in a way that most adults think teens can handle), it has potential for a lot of stories (as long as you remove the fact that the nobles can literally commit treason for profit in the middle of a war and get away with it).

I would actually use a variant R&K system for it, so I don't have the issues that showed up in the early d20 rush (settings that weren't created with d20 in mind being forced into complying with standard d20, because apparently every setting has to be compatible with another completely different setting)

Pacific Rim was 2013 so I call that.
It should be a fairly light undertaking as the tone suggests more "FUCK YEAH CHAINSWORD THE KAIJU" than spending weeks in Chummer working out the individual gears in a robot's fingers. As a selling gimmick, pairs of players can control robots and the mechanics deal as much with their interactions and cooperation as they do with fightan' the kaiju.

I already began designing one based on an odd concept.

It's a party of up to 6.

>1-2 drivers
>1-2 mechanics
>1-2 parts dealers

Every game starts with a race, once the race begins you get to a "sticking point" where you need to see if your car is up to snuff. The game then begins a flash back where you resolve whether that part of working/good enough for what you're doing in the race.

It snaps back between flash backs and the race. It's only really meant for one shots as you don't do anything between races since everything is handled in flashbacks.

A SOMA game could be an interesting twist on the CoC formula maybe, but given that anyone knows the twists of the game, it wouldn't work that well.

Actually... Psycho-Pass. Hell yeah. Now that I could get behind of. A tighter game, maybe for 2-3 players, being in a squad of PSBCID, solving cases.

It's even one of my prime inspirations for one of my settings

I see what you did there, but indeed cheeky breeky with REDFOR is a pleasure the BLUFOR scum will never experience

True, but to compensate, BLUFOR get glorious AH-64Ds and Panzergrenadiers.

>>49796523
Haven't been playing for months, I hear MG3 and the like have been nerfed and the meta in general has changed. Would like to try it out again but I lose any will to do it when I remember the game has a community that makes DOTA2's look good.

My only friend that plays it doesn't want to play against me because he's worse but he's not good enough to support me in 2v2s...all those decks that I will never play make me sad.
>>
I'll go with Path of Exile. Use the Ascendancies as a template for classes, keep some of the more notable passives from the skill tree. Have just a few skills and add more variation with support gems, as well as fusing multiple active skills together (eg Fireball is combined with itself to make Firestorm, or is combined with a melee attack to create molten strike, or with a ranged attack to create burning arrow). No idea how i would handle all the defense mechanics though. There would be a shit ton of rolling to check for dodge, block, evade, ignore, and then resists, armor, other sources of damage mitigation. Can't think of anything else right now plus I'm writing from mobile so i will stop here.

>>
>>49796549
If there's been a nerf, it hasn't been noticeable enough to me. I'm usually more concerned about anti-vehicle, and PGs are still perfectly capable in that department.

Israel's been introduced and the meta's probably still adapting to them.
>>
Fallen London is unfortunately a bit too old... but Sunless Sea isn't.

I figure it would play a lot like a Powered by the Apocalypse version of Rogue Trader.

I've been working on a RWBY rpg, but I still feel that would best be left to Anima.

You could run it in a generic system or Apocalypse World fairly easily, but a dedicated system for the weird shit that goes on in LISA would be awesome.
>>
>>49792879
XCOM 2 could be neat. The players could split their game time between playing the "commander" and controlling ground troops
Also, playing terrorists is fun
>>
>>49795996

God I feel old.

Would still make a great setting, though.
>>
>>49794068
I'd love this is the DM didn't flat out focus on combat
>>
>>49799416
Use Blades in the Dark. It would make an excellent DD game.

Players run a shady organization and have to manage the stress of their episodic missions. Too much stress they have to indulge their vices which has it's own complications.

It would be easy to separate the existing organizations into the ancestor, the bandits, the cult, the necromancer, the madmen, etc. and have the players be another group trying to profit off the dungeons.

It's how I plan to run it anyways.

Same. Additionally there is the whole intergalactic empire hanging around in the background and the remnants of their stuff on the planet that occasionally cause trouble.

I'd try to make an RPG out of the movie Hardcore Henery. Combat would be brutal and the setting would be a slightly more technologically advanced world with a few strange elements (ex. psychics).
>>
>>49799716
>Pixelated Evangelion?
Hyper light drifter. Fun if a little confusing game with a pretty nice soundtrack. A ttrpg based on it would need a lot of exploration mechanics to catch the feeling the original goes for.
>>
>>49792879
Underrail.

Metro 2033 with psychics, mutants, and fallout-style gameplay. The slang they use reminds me of shadowrun in a way, except instead of 'geek the mage' it's 'that Zoner is derailed!'. Fun as hell.

Honestly it feels a lot like shadowrun, except instead of cyberpunk it's apocalypse-punk, set underground.

>>49799706
Degrees of success, roll dice to meet or exceed difficulty number, kind of like tabletop WoW but with less autismal bean counting. Traits determine how many dice you roll, skills determine dice size. Gear and circumstances give flat bonuses/penalties or add/remove dice from your pool. Dice pool serves to both attempt and action and reduce effects of failure/enemy attacks. Maybe add randomly drawn action cards (two decks, one for job, another for species) that offer special actions you can do, or bad things you need to find a way to safely get rid off. Pulling special cards, throwing handfuls of colorful dice, cute minis hand-painted by child slaves in China, indirect furry pandering, what's not to like.
