To be fair, bullshit problems that could be solved by a short conversation is pretty much an everyday part of Japanese life, and if you ever call them out on it you're the bad guy because "hurrr durrr culture."

Was anyone even watching aside from her boss? Also she got 1 card from him. The rest were from her boss.
>>49749561
>Was anyone even watching aside from her boss?
She played him for all his tournament points, because apparently that's just a thing you can do in their world.
So even if not a lot of people were watching people would know he get rekt by her and lost ALL his tournament gains to her, and thus lost the right to compete in a big tournament that the rest of the story takes place during that she's only in because she crushed him.
>>49749595

Don't get me wrong, I'm not pissed or anything, I don't feel *anything* at this webcomic or the various parodies.
>>49751411
The enjoyment comes from a deep, spiritual level. You have to be truly enlightened to find joy in Loss.
>>49751411
The joke is that CAD is supposed to be a comedy comic, so the Loss strip was downright hilarious in how it tried to force unironic, utterly out-of-place drama. So it was parodied to the point where any 4-panel comic or anything vaguely resembling the layout began being associated with loss.
>>49751411
There was no punchline; the original is from a videogame webcomic that suddenly out of nowhere decided to start a dead serious arc about miscarriage. It then got mocked and parodied for such a long time that a new joke was born, where people would recognise the loss comic pattern instantly
>>49751259
Vader wasn't the boss, Tarkin was. Vader was merely a puppet of the Emperor, a company man sent to scare the drones. Tarkin's the one in charge and shows it by telling Vader to stop fucking around. You're not in a company, you're in the military. You're a high ranking officer in the Imperial military part of the secret operation to build and oversee the new super-weapon. Vader is the equivalent of a party member civilian come to see how things are going and in the middle of the conference started telling you about Jesus. If he doesn't like what you think of Jesus, he can go and call the führer.
>>49751834
You're forgetting that prior to New Hope, the senate was still a thing (Vader specifically mentions in the movie that the emperor has disbanded the senate) and things were done with some legality. It wasn't until later that Vader could just kill officers for petty reasons and order thousands to their deaths. That's why Motti was confident that he could talk shit to Vader and why Tarkin could tell Vader to chill.
Later Vader could just kill off who he wanted and appoint new people in their place like it was nothing.

His actions seem reasonable when you consider his background. Even though he was probably a teenager or a young adult when the jedi were taken out, he likely didn't know much about them. Keep in mind that there were not that many jedi. a huge planet like coruscant only had 1 temple which housed like 10,000 jedi or something like that. that means that the chances of a person seeing a jedi in the flesh was probably astronomically small, and seeing one doing force stuff was even smaller.
typically, you'd just know that jedi were silly diplomats and wanderers who could do weird stuff with their minds and waved around swords (in a world where everyone used guns).
also the guy probably went through around 20 years of imperial indoctrination telling everyone that the jedi were shitlords and their religion was for dumb babies, and imperial officer guy was probably delighted to parrot the teachings of the imperium.
on top of that, he worked for Tarkin, not vader. vader was some weird clumsy-looking 50-year-old cyborg relic, whose primary talents seemed to be looking scary and commanding soldiers on the field.
and top of that, imperial officer guy thought that he outranked vader, which he technically does, but he did not take in account that vader exists outside the typical, logical imperial hierarchy. this is in line with how he shit talks the force because it just seems irrelevant religious mumbo-jumbo to him. he doesn't think that the Force could have any relevance in a world where the imperium can shit on a planet on a moment's notice with huge AT-ATs and as of recently, the death star. he learns the hard way that even a massive piece of imperial military can be undone by an individual with knowledge of the force. the way vader chokes out the imperial guy with the force is just like how luke takes out the death star with the force. it's imperial hubris vs the subtle potential of the force. again, it's like poetry, it rhymes.
i hope this clears things up
>>49752463
He's still a dumbass, but it's not irredeemably stupid.
Also that was a well thought out reply. You probably put more effort into that than the original writers.
>>49748738
This was actually my experience of Only War. We didn't make it past the landing zone. >>49752463
Well put. I don't think Motti's behavior is a plot hole, even with the prequels when you take all of that into account. He thinks Vader is just some goon for scaring plebs, and realizes to his terror that Vader can walk the walk too.
>>49752488
>>He's still a dumbass, but it's not irredeemably stupid.
of course he is. he's overconfident and brash, just like the imperium that he represents. vader is the only one in the imperium who isn't too big for his britches. you could consider that he learned that overconfidence is the pathway to humiliating defeat due to his defeat against obi-wan. again, it's like poetry, it rhymes. vader is an anomaly, ideologically outside both the imperium and the rebellion. he is in constant conflict, which is why he could be redeemed to the light side.

>>49752737
imperial officer guy had a higher rank and imperium's military power behind him, giving him the false impression of a moral high ground. this is why he thought he could challenge vader. however, a moral high ground means nothing to vader, because vader possesses a high-ground ability called "From My Point of View the Jedi Are Evil" which allows him to swap moral high grounds with his opponents (the same ability that allowed him to almost defeat obi-wan)
vader's only weakness is physical high ground. that's why he was defeated by obi-wan on lava planet, and that is why he won against obi-wan on the death star, where all surfaces are completely horizontal without any physical high grounds.
vader knows his weakness well, which is why he often seizes physical high ground as quickly as he can. this is why in the conference, imperial officer guy was sitting down on a chair while vader was uncomfortably standing. vader held the physical high ground, which gave him the power to withstand imperial officer guy's challenge. with imperial officer guy's moral high ground nullified and his own physical high ground exemplified he was easily able to choke him with the force and win the argument against him.

Other M might be an okay game, but it's not a Metroid game.
Calling it a Metroid is just plain lying.
There are few crucial features that are essential for Metroid games that Other M fails to realize completely:
- Gameplay over plot. Cutscenes (both in-game and cinematic) are unnecessary for enjoyment of the game and are very rarely encountered.
- Freedom of exploration and hidden secrets. In Other M you have a very linear plotline reminiscent of Fusion - but even more fucking obnoxious - and you have a radar that automatically reveals location of hidden secrets.
- Seamless gameplay that doesn't constantly switch between two vastly different styles of gameplay. In Other M you have mandatory first-person view. 'Nuff said.
- etc. I can bitch about it all day.

Motti didn't assault Vader, he said his hocus-pocus beliefs were shit.
Nobody knew the emperor was a sith/jedi. To everyone he was but a senator who rose to power and rules the empire since the clone wars. Vader was a member of the losing side and everyone probably thought him of nothing more than a traitor who sided with the empire, even if he was a representative of the Emperor. They might respect his position, but that doesn't mean they respect Vader as a person.

>Nobody knew the emperor was a sith/jedi.
I always figured that after the empire became a thing, Palpatine being a Sith Lord became the Empire's worst kept secret.

Valid.

actually, according to star wars rebels (and as much as I dislike the series, it's pretty much the only source of canon info about the rise of the empire era), most people, including the rebels at first, didn't even know about the existance of Darth Vader and the Inquisitors, and even less about Palpatine being a Sith

You know that actually becomes funnier if you apply real world hypnotism limitations.Hypnotism is a bit like alcohol it lowers your inhibitions but can't actually force you to do something you don't want to do on some level.
>>49752036
K6BD is a world run by murderhobos where the most powerful beings were murderhobos.
I love it
>>49756213
in the comic he was also being drugged though so those limitations are much looser
>>49754909
Well, Rand was just a Kant cunt, so it's pretty much the same.
>>49756213
what about altered perception?
that has some crazy cool power too...like the "red hot quarter" demonstration...
>>49756387
once again the person will act in accordance with the new perception but they still won't do anything they wouldn't otherwise, hypnosis is essentially assisted visualisation
>>49756443
still grants some awesome control.
like, the erotic potential of horny on command or the fun potential of real LARP invisibility(as long as someone holds the sign you cannot see them/cannot hear them/both)

>>49756813
/hc/ wouldn't have us having a DISCUSSION and not posting images, /d/ tolerated us till we got trolled into the ground.
I do impact play, and some e-stim but I have yet to hypnotize anyone.

the writing structure for these is actually fairly simple, they introduce something and explain what it is, but in the explanation make reference to another thing which needs explanation and repeat.

A "Night at the opera" is the codename for the kind of events that happens in a scenario of Call of Cthulhu : Delta Green. i.e. federal agents meeting aliens and myth creatures, while badly outclassed.
I'm late to the thread, but I just found this and it needs sharing
