I think an honest human reaction to elves would be for some people to turn elfaboo and for many others to fear and hate the outsider. Depends. If they are just "better than humans" like in Eragon, then no. Well I'd like them as people IRL, or try to at least, because part of being better is being nice and having other desirable qualities, and hating someone for being better than me is petty. But I hate them in terms of being a fictional race. Way too sue-ish.

I have this suspicion that tittymonster elves and Japan make sense because out in moonrune land the idea of xenophobic androgynous slender people with a superiority complex yet ambiguously inoffensive nature religion who are curiously found in glistening 'high tech/magic' crystal cities that reach the sky isn't alien over there, it's fucking real life.

So they give their elves what they find strange and alien: colorful hair, very pale or very dark skin, large bright eyes, welcoming pillowy breasts supported by wide birthing hips and thighs. They smile a lot in inappropriate situations and seem naive to common courtesies or dangers but they walk around casually armed to the teeth and even many their women walk around carrying ranged weapons (though only a rare few are so rigorously trained with their arms as 'human' warriors.) But, the most curiously of all is how many find casual sex amusing and even enjoyable despite taboo!

They made their elves Americans.
