Little worlds are for bullying.
>>
I dunno mate, the World is pretty full of gains
OOOOOOOOOOH, HOW FAR AWAY
THE IDEAL WORRRRRRLLLLLLLLLLD
>>
>>49731107
I'd assumed it allowed you to change fate, I was more wondering how it worked in settings where the future wasn't fated in the first place.

How good is the filing cabinet's data analysis/markings? Could you give an example "file" or two?

Thankyou for the rest.

Are you ready for some highly literal Horse Lords, JumpChain?

Or on a similar note, the presumable chance to guide an elf/dwarf/weeaboo/fairy country to greatness?
>>
>>49731422
Regardless of whether a setting has fate or not, there are perks that allow you to see the future, though again, this can be changed at the moment that you find it out.

As for how good they are- You can assume that it is as good as an in-depth CIA file on someone- so, aggregating all the data available to come up with the conclusions that an agency of that level would be able to create. If your target would be able to conceal their true intentions from an agency of that level, there might be some holes in your files, though as soon as you find out what you're missing, your files update.

>>49731447
>Or on a similar note, the presumable chance to guide an elf/dwarf/weeaboo/fairy country to greatness?

That's too memey even for me.

Glad to see enthusiasm, but CK will probably be the last one I do. Which means at least a month or so from now.
>>
>>49731464
No, no, no. You start by having elf/dwarf/weaboo/fairy companions and utilize your wildly impractical cloning/time manipulation/fertility technology to ensure that they become a significant minority in the target country and start handing them titles.

Assuming there's no pesky rule saying you can't do that it should work about as well as the previously pictured emperor of rome.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Will there at least be options to import a Mod? For any of them
At least some of the really popular mods, like Kaiserreich for HoI
>>
>>49731516
Ah, I thought you were talking about being able to do that with just the in-jump options.

Keep in mind that that image was based on a glitch- so if you do happen to do such things, be ready for many crusades against you.
>>
>>49731527
I was planning to do a Kaiserreich jump on its own after the main series jumps.
>>
>>49730925
Well, I've been to tons of other jumps. For reference, my last posted build was Code Lyoko at #38, SMT was #14, and Devil Survivor will be #42. I've got tons of magic from places like The Elder Scrolls (including shouts) and Ar Tonelico.I've got about half a dozen durability & strength perks. I did pick up Bels and Whistles, yes.

>>49730948
I did get boosted Devil Summoner as well, so I've got a lot of very strong demons under my command.
>>
The option in Warframe that lets you get extra abilities- is it 200WP to double everything, or 200WP for one more of any given slot? The density of per X and the line immediately following that bit is tripping me up.
>>
>>49731560
200WP for one more of any given slot. So you can buy four more slots.

(Darkstalkers) #61
-Background: Blooded (Free) -The visage of demonhood is becoming absolute.
-Basic Moveset (Free) -We all must start somewhere.
-Joking Taunt (Free) -You had best not be coming at me with that stick.
-Sexy Taunt (Free) -...not sure what I'm going to do with this.
-Badass Taunt (Free) -I do not think you will appreciate what happens if you press on.
-Arcane Assault (900CP) (Discount) -Fire casts a shadow, and those shadows belong to me.
-Livewire (800CP) -I think... that this will help me in some respect.
-Demonic Lineage (Free) -Demonhood should look good.
-Hellfire (Free) -Come on. Step into the fire with me.
-Transformative Wings (700CP) (Discount) -Of course, my shadow isn't JUST a shadow.
-Elegant Appearance (550CP) (Discount) -At least I can custom tailor my demonic form now.
-Hot as Hell (350CP) (Discount) -My very presence shows the power of being a demon.
-Blood Magic (100CP) (Discount) -And if you think my blood will simply remain blood, you best think twice.
-Asidespace (Free) -My own SHADOW is a storage space now? Shiiiiit.
-Crown of Makai (0CP) (Discount) -I am beginning to suspect something is at play here.
-Whatever vs. Capcom 4 1/2 (0CP)
Dice Rolls: Makai, 23 years old
-End Choice: Next Adventure

There's not much to say here because this is basically one big vacation for me. I'm not going to focus much on the fighting, mostly just trying to simmer the fuck DOWN and enjoy what I can. I mean... after a lot of fighting, a lot of bullshit, I finally did it. Demonhood is mine.

Granted, the question remains on whether it was worth it.

I've become the very thing I've hunted and learned to forge. Yes a lot of them were evil, a lot of them were malicious, a lot of them wanted to just take humanity and tear it apart. That's not kosher. That's... it doesn't feel right. Why do that? What point is there to wanton slaughter, to any kind of evil? It's stupid.

So why do I know how to use my new species as resources? It feels... odd.
>>
Apart from the one in Skullgirls, where can I get an army that takes 1 companion slot? (100ish men is ok too)
>>
>>49732106
Kerbals, the Waddle Dees in Kirby. I think they're the best numbers wise. Other than that... I don't know of any others than go above 15-20 in one slot.

>>49731622
dude i don't give a shit about your magical realm
>>
>>49732573
True, but there's a lot of variance among full-fledged space marines. Recruiting people who have a history of incompetence is likely to lead that to bleed over into future endeavours.

Besides, If I recall correctly, the Jumpmaker said that it was going to divide all the benefits from perks evenly among the Kerbals. Otherwise, it would be ridiculously OP- as this scenario demonstrates.
>>
>>49732538
I'm not going directly from Kerbals to Imperium, anyways. Believe me, there will be some uplifting. Also, Imports. If they're really that incompetent, then that will be snuffed out on their first background import.
>>
>>49732609
He can import them each as space marines individually for 600 cp.
>>
>>49732573
As >>49732609 said, it's actually the competence of one space marine, divided among your hundreds of Kerbals.
>>
>>49732538
You don't need competence when you have kompetence, and who knows in 40k they may manage to summon an invisible kraken to tear apart their enemies, or maybe they will strap some battle barges together and make a kraken drive to shoot ram their enemies at 15 times the speed of light. Everything is possible when it comes to Kerbals. Also I do have to say I think the one thing the Kerbal jump is lacking is a perk or something for a kraken drive.
>>
>>49732627
Can you actually split multiple in one companions like that? Even if you do can you make them back into a multiple in one companion later?
>>
>>49732627
I don't think you can be selective like that. If you import them separately, they become separate companions.
>>
>>49732642
So multiple Kerbal by magic pain glove

Nothing can go wrong
>>
>>49732627
A standard space marine chapter needs 1000 marines.

at 600 CP each, you're talking about 600,000 CP- with no other perks taken.

Fortunately, Imperium has no drawback limit. You can stay there as long as you like. In fact, you can take dark millenium as many times as you like. As such, you can take this perk 4,000 times and do this.

The cost of this, though, is spending 10* 2^4000 years in 40k, or, according to wolframalpha, 131820409343094310010388979423659136318401916109327276909280345024175692811283445510797521231721220331409407564807168230384468176942405812817310624525121840385446744443868889563289706427719939300365865529242495144888321833894158323756200092849226089461110385787540779132654409185831255860504316472846036364908238500078268116724689002106891044880894853471921527088201197650061259448583977618746693012787452335047965869945140544352170538037327032402834008159261693483647994727160945768940072431686625688866030658324868306061250176433564697324072528745672177336948242366753233417556818392219546938204560720202538843712268268448586361942128751395665874453900680147479758139717481147704392488266886671292379541285558418744606657296304926586001793382725791100208812287673612006034789731201688939975743537276539989692230927982557016660679726989062369216287647728379155260864643891615705346169567037448405029752790940875872989684235165316260908983893514490200568512210790489667188789433092320719785756398772086212370409401269127676106581410793787580434036114254547441805771508552049371634609025127325512605396392214570059772472666763440181556475095153967113514875460624794445927790555554213627225045757069109493760 years in 40k.

Is that really worth it? Keep in mind, you could just do some cool shit and get a chapter that way.

>>49732655
>Everything is possible when it comes to Kerbals.

No, it's not. Stop spouting memes.
>>
>>49732656
It's generally "ruled by common sense" since multi-slot companions only come in certain jumps, and most of us who do use them in jumpmaking aren't in the position to say how CP/perks work with them
>>
>>49732609
That's for perks, anon. Not backgrounds.

Even a baseline space marine is pretty powerful, and has a past as well. And with mass telepathy, they're essentially just bodies that I need.
>>

So, I have one hell of a time during this one. It seems the entire S.A.A.T. and their crazy robot brainchild has decided that I'm not worth having for various reasons and are gunning for me from the word start. Thankfully I have some seriously out of context skills with my knowledge of Magic, Spiritual Energy, Chi, Life Shaping, Hamon, Spin, and Stands to surprise people with. Various projects start immediately as I create a barrier around my new ship and the island I'd found. It'd hold up to an army of demons, though I don't know if it'll hold up to a nuke so I also threw out the magical equivalent to a giant camo net, not something that will fool anyone seeing it with their own eyes but it'd fool anything using a satellite or something like radar to find me.
Projects:
1. Geneforging a few small sea fairing creatures who have reused assets from a gold fish and a couple of monster fish that I had fought long ago whilst still an Active Hero, I still had a few parts left when I'd gotten the Pixel tech from Kid Radd and they may be expensive but that shit is awesome when you want to whip out a Leviathan out of no where. Loyalty set deep in their DNA, a simple and common practice that I never skimped on, I had a set of guardians who wouldn't be expected.
2. Making guns that work under the principles of the Spin, just to see if it is possible.
(Continued)

>>49732773
(Continued)
3. See what a civilization built on the principles of personal and community progress can do with Hamon, Chi, Magic, and the local high tech stuff.
4. Experiment with various big spells, we have a large section of the local water ways marked off so that I can do that.
5. Using the Ark as a base start work on a personal version of the EXTERIOR project using both the Geneforge and my research from my time in Railgun. Fail-safes a plenty.
6. Research into how Eco tech benefits the world it's around, this stuff if cool in all sorts of ways.
7. Make a better Food Substitute that runs of Krill, could be useful to have.
8. Research animals that I noted could channel Hamon and get a better understanding of how to get 100% Hamon channeling cloth.
9. Seal away the two remaining Shikon Jewel Shards for now.

Just a few things I'm going to be doing in the background.
>>
>>49731207
>Day five hundred and seventy-one
Vassalion officially started their holy war against me today. They're marching towards the jail I was originally in, and basically wiping out everything that is even a little dark.

>Day five hundred and seventy-three
So far they've killed five wannabe demon lords, two starscreams, eight dragons - the second in command, not the actually dragon - and two bonafide demon lords.

Still haven't thought to look up.

>Day five hundred and eighty
The last members of the march left the city today. There's four parts, one each to the compass points. They're trying to wipe out basically every pocket of evil. Its going... Well, its going.

>Day five hundred and eighty-one
Delenox IV dropped onto Vassil - the city in which Vassilion is based - today. Place was basically wiped off the map. Made sure to pillage, then burn though, so its all good.

Also, the Delenox V is prepped for drop, just in case.

>Day six hundred
Holy shit, I think I might actually be trying to take over the world. Were they right about me?

...

Nah, this is self defense - they started it.

If I purchased 'Hero of a Thousand Faces' from Negima, and fused it with another weapon, would it merely add that weapon to its "database" or apply the properties to all of its forms (where applicable, so no absurd sharpness on a boxing glove)?

>I was planning to do a ... jump
Can I say something about your jumps?
They all have been bad because you don't even bother to try pricing perks correctly like everyone else.
As in you seem ignorant of how to count.
We have 1,000 CP
In the beginning that was to buy an background, and a 300 and 600 CP perks (100 CP one was free) so about 500 CP for a perk line of related perks to make a complete background.
Then is was a Background (usually free)
and 100, 200,400,600 CP perks, with again 100 CP being free.
So 600 CP for a perk line, and but there are perk line items now and companions imports you need to buy.

But you, are in la la land.
Just, look at what you are doing in ALL your jumps.
150 Backgrounds for no reason.
100 CP Perk (not free)
200 CP Perk
400 CP Perk
600 CP Perk
EIGHT HUNDRED CP PERK.
150+50+100+200+300+400 CP=1,200 CP just for one perk line.
And this does not include the items you just slap on.
Add on another 1,050 items for a lines discounted perk line, and there is not even enough points.

The problem is your 800 CP Perks and Items. Frankly, they suck. You do not seem to put any effort into pricing, either in making sure a full background fits into 1,000 CP, or into making sure the 800 CP backgrounds are actually worth 800 CP.

You come off as a self indulgent elitist off in his own little world dropping in every so often to have fun shitting all over everyone else's work and not even noticing.
If you just have to have that 5th perk or whatever, make the pricing scheme 50 CP. 100 CP, 200 CP. 400 CP, 600 CP like others have done.
>>
>>49733102
So, Aion has Armfusion. Recettear has that Shopkeeper perk. SBURB has alchemization. King Arthur has the "enchant a weapon to absorb other weapons" option. I'm assuming I'm missing quite a few fusion options out there.
>>
>>49733201
Dark Cloud and Team Fortress 2 also have options that could probably do that as well.
>>
>>49733016
This is very amusing stuff. Good story Blade!
>>
>>49733172
Normally I'd make a post about how blatant attacks won't solve anything, but I find myself agreeing with you at least in some ways.
There was always something about his jumps that I couldn't put my finger on that I just didn't like. Reading them feels like a chore since shit is all over the place.
Now that I think about it. The pricing isn't the only issue it's how disjointed everything is. There's so much to go through and a lot of it isn't interesting or thematic enough to deserve a perk slot.
It's almost like the shotgun effect
>>
>>49733250
It's true that a lot of the stuff I do isn't interesting or powerful, though I like to keep that stuff to the lower price ranges specifically due to that.

I've always asked for and welcomed feedback. If you see this again in future jumps, I'd appreciate it if you could tell me specifically what perks/items need revision.
>>
>>49733164
Limit mode? Not sure i'm familiar with that. Is that the one that locks away your powers from kid rad? If it is, it should work fine.

Why are you making perks that you yourself know aren't interesting or powerful? What sort of process do you have for deciding on perks, exactly?
>>
>>49733284
Yeah and cool.
>>
>>49733316
The low-level perks aren't meant to be powerful because, well, they're cheap. Cheap perks shouldn't be all that powerful.
>>
>>49733331
That doesn't necessarily follow. Plenty of jumps have 100 CP perks, free with their backgrounds, that are crazy powerful, or at least crazy useful. And even if it did, then those perks should be interesting, or at least useful in some meaningful way.

Even a 100 CP perk represents 1/10th of your total buying power. It should be good enough to warrant that investment.
>>
>>49733364
>Plenty of jumps have crazy powerful 100cp perks
Here's a tip anon, that's not a good thing. That's a sign the jump is massively unbalanced.
>>
>>49733373
I respect your completely wrong opinion on the matter.
>>
>>49733384
Care to give any examples then?
>>
>>49733277
The problem is that there's nothing mechanically wrong with them.
A lot are boring since they just don't do anything cool. Or in the worst case they don't do much of anything at all.

>>49733331
Just about all of your 800cp perks are boring especially given how much they cost. That's the problem. They aren't interesting. It's just chaff to fill in slots.
Sure the effects might be strong, but it's rarely something cool you can do.
Most of the time it's making something more likely or changing the way people react to you.
Capstones as a general idea are suppost to be "wow inducing" something that's thematic and most importantly something you'd want. They should never ever be boring.
>>
>>49733364
And I try to make them good enough to warrant 1/10th of one's buying power. "crazy useful", to me, sounds like more of a 400 CP affair, or a 200 CP affair with a limited context.
>>
>>49733364
>>49733373
For what it's worth, I think more emphasis should be put on the meaningful usefulness/interesting parts and less on the raw "power", and also that this is one of those things that depends on the setting a lot of the time
>>
>>49733396
This really seems like an issue of personal taste, especially as to whether you find his stuff 'cool' or not.. I find his perks, especially the highest cost ones, to generally be stuff that hasn't been done to death in previous jumps or isn't just some really strong in setting ability.
>>
>>49733389
Infamous? S&S? Baten Kaitos? I dunno, are those considered 'balanced'?
>>
>>49733415
So is novelty more important than usefulness or balance?
>>
>>49733396
>They should never ever be boring.

Alright, random example time:

The San'Shyuum capstone perk from the Halo covenant jump allows one to create an alliance of nearly any 2 alien races, capable of incorporating any other alien race that it beats in military combat. I have a hard time seeing how that's boring, especially when applied to settings, like, say, 40k.

Whatever the case, I'm done commenting on this for now because every time I talk the thread goes to shit. In future jumps, raise your objections when I post the WIPs.
>>
>>49733418
>Infamous
The jump known for having very unbalanced perks given how poorly the higher cost stuff compares to 100cp stuff? Or it being the second jump ever?

>S&S and Baten Kaitos
Can you point out exactly which ones are crazy powerful here rather then referring to the entire jump? Remember they must be 100cp too.
>>
>>49733415
That's why I don't usually complain about it.
It's just so dull to read "people don't disagree with you on the world stage" Compared to "Your debate acumen is of legend. You could convince even the most stubborn of the merit of your ideas, implementing them further is a breeze.

The difference being that one says a thing the other says how. That's what bothers me.
>>
>>49733461
No. I'm not that invested in this conversation. Let's move on.
>>
>>49733373
You're assuming all perks need to scale Weak > Strong. The nature of a setting could be such that perks would need to go Strong > Stronger. Or the ability given by a freebie could be so central to the setting and the way things work that offering it as anything more is effectively the same as arbitrarily reducing the amount of CP the Jumper gets.

Or, more importantly, the perk could be useful or interesting regardless of its actual objective power like he said. If a lower-tier perk is deliberately shit, no one is going to actually buy it and just save CP for the good stuff. The latter already portion already happens regardless of the merits the cheaper stuff has, and frankly that's not something you can really stop without getting perk tree-wide synergy going, but the common presence of a whole new tier beyond normal capstones in Cena's jumps makes it even more attractive.

Anyway, I do have a problem with Cena's jumps just having this... feeling of jank (like eurojank games, I'm not literally calling his stuff trash), but I can't put it in terms he could actually do something with, so RIP me.
>>
>>49733439
Not at all. I'm saying that they are useful in addition to not being something done to death or 'boring' as you claimed was the problem. Please don't try to swap around the goalposts here.

>>49733469
So the majority of our jumps bother you then? Because most jumps are more like the former. If anything, Cena's jumps usually have more detail then not (Save things like WWE but I think we can all agree how garbage that was). His Victoria and EvW jumps are actually much more wordy (Certainly more then you're painting them as) then most jumps which go far closer to the dullness you're complaining of.

Certainly seems like a huge stretch to suddenly complain about his jumps in this manner when say, we had Custom Robo having yet another extra life perk as a capstone. Where were you then?
>>
>>49733458
That's boring because it doesn't do anything but fiat your way though politics. It doesn't give skill, abilities, or do something you couldn't already.
It just changes how people behave towards your organization.

I do object when you post wips, not to this because there's more important things to complain about than personal taste and because it takes forever to read through them.
>>
>>49733507
Not wordiness. That's not my problem. It's how the perks work that bothers me.
Making you better at something is a lot different than making people jsut fiat behave differently to you.

Extra lives are getting oversaturated I agree, but I don't see the problem with them.
>>
>>49733490
Well, like I've said. Please give me examples. I've had someone say Infamous, something infamous for how broken it's early perks are and how bad it's later stuff is. Then they've quoted two jumps at me and expected me to find the examples for them. If you can show me a good number of jumps with 'crazy powerful' 100cp powers then yeah, I'll admit you have a point. But it has to be a good number to prove you're not just looking for an excuse to rag on Cena (Which is very tempting but still wrong). Otherwise you're really just picking on this guy for no reason.
>>
>>49733277
>If you see this again in future jumps, I'd appreciate it if you could tell me specifically what perks/items need revision.
Like all of your 800 CP perks, and even the concept of 800 CP perks in the jumps you are making.

Look at the Shadows of Mordor Jump CCDT made. It has one 800 CP perk in it, that replaces that backgrounds 600 CP perk so everything stays affordable, and is basically all the Wraith stuff in that game.
Or the 800 CP Perks in Touhou.(which does not have a 600 CP limit for basic math reasons)
800 Perks should NOT be a regular thing like you are doing. They should go above and beyond, which yours do not. The only reason yours are 800 CP is because you have adopted an irregular 100/200/400/600/800 pricing scheme for some ungodly reason. For Wrestling and historical shit jumps no less. When 800 CP is the realm of Omega level X-men powers and stuff.

ALL your perks seems to need to drop a level so your jumps are mathematically plausible and in line with all the other jumps pricing. They do not need 800 CP perks or items in them at all.
>>
>>49733490
That last sentence sums up my feelings exactly.
I really wish I knew how to explain it better to help, but I'm unfortunately a shit at criticism.
>>
>>49733557
And I find just giving you skills to be boring too anon. Why should I pay precious, extremely limited cp when I could just work on that in my eons long chain? At a certain point making me more skilled at something is pointless because I've hit a point where the perk gives so little relatively that my cp purchase gets me effectively nothing. Personal differences are key here, great that you've admitted that's your entire basis though.

You're the one who said Cena's perks were bad for being boring yet Extra Lives done a dozen+ times isn't boring?
>>
>>49733602
Touhou gets a lot of shit for being literally nothing but a powergrab, but those 800 CP powers are fucking worth 800 CP.

I don't even do that reading through some of the doorstoppers on the drive.
I'm not even trying to attack the guy or anything, but there's just something about the way he writes.

Perhaps boring isn't the right word. Would lame suffice? Either way "it just werks" skill perks are just not interesting to me.
Perks that are nothing but mundane skills aren't interesting on their own, I agree but the thing is they're better than perks that just magically make the end result happen for no reason.
>>
>>49733707
This. The entire thing feels like people going after Cena for any reason they can justify, or not in some cases with people admitting they don't even know what they're complaining about.
>>
There's a general "methodology" that I tend to apply when making jumps, and it's up to you whether you want to follow it or not.

The core design structure is simple, you have backgrounds, and a standard array of perks. You start off by creating an overflow table of perks so that you have a large pool to draw perks from. You arrange them accordingly so that each background has an "identity" and the perks will align with one another. The actual pricing process can come afterwards.

Perks don't need to be in terms of strength. Perks can be in terms of flexibility. A more applicable perk is worth more than a perk than gives "Flat X". But this is a matter of opinion and methodology. At this point of the process you don't even need to have the fluff ready, though it'd be nice.

A 1/2/4/6 structure works well because it is common. This makes it a solid backbone from where you can expand. Do you want to use Capstone Boosters? Do you want to have sub locked perk modifiers? Do you want to use Package Perks? Do you want Isolated Perk Lines? Only after the skeleton is complete should you begin experimentation.

Make things "affordable" on the basis that people have 1000 CP. Then add in extra perks according to how high the max CP can be. This is baiting, and it can be used effectively to draw people in. This is where the importance of drawbacks come into play, as a risk versus reward scenario.

This is, in my opinion of course, the basics of perk organization. But it isn't really the end all be all of a jump. When you start considering your audience (the jumper), there's a lot more room for flexibility and expansion. Expansion to cater to companion jumpers for instance, or item based jumpers. In the end you have to weight out "how much effort do I care to put in" when you're considering this. Maybe perks are the only things you feel are important. Having the answers to those sort of questions helps as far as designing your jump goes.

Anyways, it's just my 2 cents.

>>
>>49733587
I'd just like to say, I was just adding on what seemed to be that guy's point... which is fucking pointless considering what he said while I was writing but whatever.

Let's look at... Proper Posture from Warframe. Yeah, yeah, niche as fuck. I'm building for that jump right now so it's the first thing that came to mind. Gives you the stamina and discipline needed to be the improbable hitman who waits long times to kill their mark, which fits the later Death Mark Capstone based around assassination. Together with the freebies and later scavenging perk, it also helps out in playing the video game merchant who stands around for hours part, but that's only slightly thematic and takes a specific type of goober to be entertaining.

...I could try and keep going, but frankly, I don't really have a dog in this. My problem is as I said: a vague sense of unease when reading his perks that sours the jump, even if I like what I'm seeing in general.
>>
>>49733731
>Perks don't need to be in terms of strength. Perks can be in terms of flexibility.
My personal opinion is based on a question.
"What is the appropriate price of this perk, based on the thematics of the setting? It's why some jumps being at Peak Human Ability is a 100 perk, because it's common as hell, and in others it should be a capstone, because that's how it works in that specific setting. Actual power/flexibility of the perks doesn't matter as much as the thematics of the setting, though power should be taken into account.

But 800 Perks should be reserved for special occasions, rare jumps that have something just that potent to offer.
>>
>>49733458
Oh fuck off Cena you barely listen to objections regardless.
If you did you we might actually have a servicable WWE jump.
>>
>>49733791
I think of it like this. "Would this perk alone be enough to justify this entire jump by itself?" Because 800 out of 1000 is kind of a fucking big deal.
>>
>>49733766
I am. "I don't like 800 tier perks because they're non-standard!" despite them being done before. And complaining about backgrounds with a cost? That WAS standard for a long time, and it's still not unusual.
>>
>>49733766
Yes, I am. I'm one of the two (Or three perhaps) people responding to complaints. And I've seen multiple people's arguments boil down to "I dunno what I have a problem with, I just generally don't like his jumps." That makes me more then a bit suspicious that the reason people react this way is because of Cena's past actions in thread where he becomes a weeping asshole to people with his smugness. I have the same reaction to Teratophilia's works for instance, I'm sure people do to mib's jumps as well. What arguments don't boil down to vague dislike generally seem predicated on inter jump balance type deals (Not even good ones either given the counter examples that can be brought from over 600 jumps and all).

So yeah, I've got a good amount of reason to believe people are just going after the guy for no reason given the reasons are "I don't know" "But this other jump doesn't do that" and "Fuck you."
>>
>>49733811
And discounts?
>>
>>49733841
You're doing yourself zero favors here if this is the only kind of response you can muster. You're just justifying everything being said about you.
>>
>>49733873
Considering it's one comment chain and you're making the exact same kind of reply each time, I'd be willing to bet you're one person, yes.
>>
>>49733666
>You realise your argument is pretty much entirely predicated on inter jump balance?
This is not about inter jump balance, it is about pricing 400 or 600 cp perks as 800 cp perks, when they are not.

It is about keeping the jump in the same format as the others. Bitching at the guy who wanted to make the jump use FP was not about it either.

This is not about balance, it is about numbers.

Also, the RNG agrees with me that you are in the wrong here, satan!
>>
>>49733838
Then it becomes "Would this perk alone be enough to justify this entire jump by itself for 75% of jumpers?"

(or whatever ratio based on the jump's number of origin choices)
>>
>>49733791
In this case it's merely a matter of reflecting the setting authentically, and honestly, if the jumpmaker isn't designing the perks intentionally so they "grab" people, but rather just to reflect what the setting has to offer, this generally isn't a problem.

In the case where settings are inconsistent, or have singular instances of extreme power, there are still ways to handle it.

The choice of using 800s, or any other denominator for that instance, is generally a stylistic one that boils down to "Do you believe that there should be something made very hard to attain, and if so, why and how much?"

Personally I've used higher denominations, with very specific builds in mind as part of experimentation for myself. The process of crosschecking your jumps afterwards (by building jumpers yourself using your jump, with each background multiple times) generally tells me enough about what's feasible and what isn't.

That last point is generally one that very few people are in "agreement" over, because ultimately it's a value question. Some people believe that everything in the jump should be affordable prior to drawbacks, some people don't. But the process of experimentation demands that an attempt is made regardless, and the conclusions afterwards can decide whether it is fitting or not.

Full disclaimer in any case, I make my jumps so I can jump them, and I tend to run several "test" jumpers, so my process is sometimes far more complex than other people and my jumps reflect it. It isn't for "everyone", it's for "me", first and foremost. Afterwards when it's made public changes can be tailored in.

And that really brings us full circle, where the jumpmaker should ask himself "What and who are you making this for?"
>>

>This is not about inter jump balance
Then why are you criticising it for things like having 800cp perks in 'historical shit' as if only high power settings can have them or saying that 800cp perks should be things like Omega level mutant powers? A power can be worth 800cp in a lower powered setting if it is still comparatively good within that setting. Plenty of the 800cp perks in these jumps (Excluding Wrestling) are just fine to me. Some I think can only be 800cp, like the spy agency.

Other jumps have had 800cp perks, this is nothing new. Rome jump had perks in a different style just like FP too and that's accepted. There were many reasons for people getting angry at that Mage jump and FP was just one, not all and not one of the best either. And honestly, this 'all jumps must be the same format' is just ridiculous when people heap praise on many of Dirge's jumps despite having many, many new formats and mechanics in them that no other jump has.

Your numbers then, are contradictory and false.

>Dirge's jumps despite having many, many new formats and mechanics in them that no other jump has.

I said this in IRC, but I'll say it here. It should be pretty easy to identify what I've said in this thread so far. My design philosophy is erratically different from many jumpmakers. There are many who cater to a very wide audience, and I respect them for that, but I'm not a great jumpmaker, so the audience that I cater to is rather small. There are people that appreciate my jumps that I didn't expect, and of course, I'm thankful to them for that.

But the small audience scope is also why I have a sort of "freedom" as far as trying out new things goes. Synthesis items, companion expansions, Tarot Drawbacks, Scenarios - down to different scenario management formats. I have a small group of folks who tell me generally "This is shit" or "This is ok", and they're the folks who make experimentation possible.

I don't want anyone to be under the impression that this is good behavior to emulate. If the jumpmaker is targeting a specific audience, they need to know what that audience wants. Not everyone wants fuckhuge jumps. Not everyone wants to read stories. Not everyone wants new ways to spend CP.

Know what your audience wants, know what makes them happy, and then do that if you want your audience to be happy. If you do introduce new systems, at least try to make it easy to grasp, make it so that it isn't a complete headache to wrap your head around them.
>>
>>49734047
Pretty sure that should work. You'll probably want to eat the monkey ball soup anyway given how it's apparently amazing tasting. In Acacia's Full Course after all.

>>
>>49734053
I'm aware of what you've intended, that wasn't really relevant to the point I've tried to make. Sorry if it seems a bit cold but what you personally intend doesn't really matter for this example. Your jumps receive widespread acclaim in spite of using differing formats, which I used to demonstrate how flawed and plain incorrect anon's argument that 'any deviation is wrong and should be put down', since we've seen large deviations from the formula in the past ad had them be well known successes (Even if perhaps not for the specific deviations in those jumps, it's still not bad because of them).
>>
>>49734073
'If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.' Though most of the results for Google search I found it with were variations of "Did he actually say it?"
>>

No, I didn't explain myself properly (and I misunderstood your point), so that's my fault. I described my "personal intentions" because I was trying to highlight that my works and myself are essentially anomalies as far as /jc/ goes, and shouldn't be considered a norm to any degree. There are better examples.

I do agree with your sentiment, but I think that in order for a "concept" to cement itself, it needs to be done consistently. It's like scenarios for example. Babylon started the whole concept with LoT, but for a long time nobody else really followed suit. Even when I was doing scenarios regularly back in the day, there weren't that many people that did it alongside. Perhaps that is indicative of an inherent adversity to change, I dunno.

>>49734109
I appreciate that, though in my opinion that's really only because there aren't that many of us...which is something that makes me a bit sad. Coming back and seeing new blood was really nice, but there really still isn't that many of us.

It's probably not that relevant...but having more jumpmakers around is in some ways, key to innovation. There were a lot of conceptual ideas that I would have never tried without people like Red and Babylon around, and others as well.

If anything, what you seem dedicated to pointing out any time someone even mentions your work, that it should never be taken as the norm and shouldn't be taken as an example, makes it perfect for this argument since it is so far off from the norm.

There is another I can think of that I can't really suggest, Psykers in 40k can rip open portals through the warp to teleport themselves, but it's a terrible way to do things because warp.

Kirby does however have Royal Magic teleportation which can let you teleport so fast you have after images that may or may not still be physical.

This is a really rather neat world I've found myself in. Ranma immediately starts his usual quackery by stealing me (!!!) and then hitting the underground circuits. He would toss me at the people who were using really out there or cutting edge illegal parts and kept calling it a Training Journey (Dammit Ranma I hate that phrase because of Pops and you know it!). I felt bad when I burst his bubble about this being just a happy go lucky world we could vacation in, since it was an apocalypse and all. He buckled down with the other Companions and worked out a deal with the local police and together we fought crime, and I got my ass handed to me by the original Rahu itself at one point which was something.

Rahu was a demon on the battlefield. A walking weapon of ruin which had brought the human race to its knees in this world. I could see it adapting just as fast, if not faster, than me as I learned how to be a proper Rahu from it it learned to use outside the box tactics. It managed to Hit me and as I fell it dropped a Grand Cross Bomb on me as well as emptying it's pods.
I was Down in an instant, but I broke my Limit Mode and roared out of the dust like a beast, which in truth I looked like as I'm told. I totally abandoned weapons and in an instant I was on the terror of that world with all the skill I could layer into my blows from ages of training in the martial arts. In that shining moment I dominated the Rahu using my sheer martial arts skill. It felt good.
>>
>>49734757
Low rolls are good, right? That means with that 14, you kept the ball rolling. Just remember to make sure that thing STAYS down, or it will come back resistant to your techniques.
>>
>>49734773
Yep it's really good.

>>49734757
I didn't stop at the first Hit. Nor the second or third. Hell I knew how this thing functioned, was akin to it myself, so I varied my attacks as little as possible. Roasting Chestnuts on an Open Fire was a technique that could allow a human to punch so fast that what was seemingly one single strike was five hundred and the only adaptation this beast would be getting from me would be a resistance to being punched to death. My arms, limited by artificial alloy and synthetic design, cracked as I didn't stop once the Rahu was Down the onslaught of blows causing servos to whine eerily even as the limbs met their limits and were forced to exceed them. I couldn't 'feel' as the limbs malformed under the forces I was putting them through but by the time I was unable to lift my fists they'd become misshapen, with horrid twists mid-forearm and backwards bends near the shoulder. Rahu was barely even in any shape at all I'd buried it under so many blows for so long that it's head and some of it's torso were just shattered into seven pieces.
Ranma was buying me some time, so I readied my trump card. While my power Remote Hacking couldn't allow me to 'steal' Rahu I could touch its programming with that power before activating the hacking skills I'd long honed on the servers of Academy City. Rahu fought the initial hack off well, for a simple AI with absolutely no programming in such defenses beyond having a sturdy firewall, however as I crashed through it and took direct control over its adapting code it lost ground with astounding swiftness. It wasn't truly sentient, merely a learning program and orders, so I felt no sorrow as I burned the data feed from the inside out starting with the adaptive software and moving out from there.

So I was thinking about an earlier discussion about rewiring a high quality Vault of Woven Dreams to do a Reality Engine's job-the reason to do this way being to take advantage of the Elsewhere space within to keep the generated reality relatively pristine during the creation process. Idea for the current system is:

I will start by accessing my Gunnerkrigg Court otherworld as the crafting area, because it's easier to take actions which require /controlled/ distortions of reality there if that ship who wanted to gain a body to date a giant crustacean through was any indication. Gathering the Ring/Way graces from the Unshaped/Hannya bordering Creation, I'll supplement conventional Craft: Glamour techniques with trigram alchemy to bind my own Ring grace with the other Ring graces into the center of a massive mobile waypoint-aggregate, and do likewise with the Way graces; each will be to individual Treasures/Chancels as the Realm Defence Grid is to an individual manse. Once these structures are constructed, I'll use Preserve the Land to seal each into artifacts. Depending on their complexity in a miniaturised form and the effects of compressing Wyld energy, I will then either use FMA Alchemy and Knowledge is Numbers to derive a formula to transmute them, or use Sburb-style Alchemization to fuse them with the right punched holes.

I will then create an conceptual sheath to protect this resource outside the jump. Adapting both the Type-Moon True Ancestor forging techniques (Master Craftsman, King Arthur), psychometrically analysing the Moonstone to determine how to crystallise knowledge itself into a vessel and repurposing the Discworld spell Maligree's Wonderful Garden will all be required.

By cannibalising large sections of my own Territory (making sure to chuck a few Protoshinmaic Vortexes into it somewhere else first to stabilise the remainder) and using Memory of Light and Waves to harvest the most Ring-aligned crystalline memories from the Wyld whilst Soulfire-enhanced Flame of Tar'Valon is used as a catalyst, I will first use as reagents for the ritualised variation of the MWG-which be consecrated with blessings from the Shinma Nirupadhika, Nirguna and Nirvishesha, invoked through To Call Forth and attuned with through Virtue powers, thus stabilising the constructed world with the power of existence itself, reinforcing it's identity and aligning its' location to avoid permanent change.

After using Preserve the Land to compress it, I'll use the Dragon Stream to seal it around the borders of the Glamour-construct. Using my Mystic Eyes of Imaginary Numbers and Nothingness as well as the appropriate rank-boosting Noble Phantasm, I will thus mystically fold the artifacts around each other by the impulses of the Wyld energy into a stable conflux manipulated through the Stream, while further isolating the entire artifact in a shadow dimension.

Finally, I'll use Plug 'n Play along with Artificer to build an interface into the Vault's interior to be compatible with such an artifact, and Anartist as well as Guru to modify the hearthstone socket such that it can absorb energy from the interior of a Protoshinmaic Vortex instead of just the corona to cope with processing a vast Wyld continuum in an artificial space. Then I'll just have to figure out how to create an Essence-compliant artifact based on the moonstone to transport generated reality outside of Elsewhere to where it needs to go.

Which just leaves refilling as an issue I'm still trying to figure out, but yeah. Reckon this'll do it?

>>
>>49735433

Harry even asks if Tom chose him because "I'm a half-blood like him".

Harry Potter is considered a Half-Blood because he was the son of Pure-Blood James Potter and Muggle Born Lilly Evens.

Actually, according to genealogical standards among purebloods in Britain, to be a pureblood a wizard has to have had no muggle blood in their direct ancestry to their grandparent's generation.

Thus the child of a muggleborn and a pureblood is not pureblooded, but their grandchild would be assuming their child marries a pureblood or another child of a pureblood and muggleborn.
>>
>>49735493
I know, I was just stating that you were both correct, linking to both of you because...well, that just seemed like a good idea at the time.

>>49735492
It's a common mistake, I've found. People usually take the term to mean Magical/Muggle rather then it also including Pureblood/Muggle-born.

Man, is it weird that looking back on Harry Potter it becomes less "Magical adventures and good vs evil" and more "People are dicks for stupid reasons, and magic just enhances both qualities for some reason"?
>>
>>49735506
Of course these are just the standards among regular purebloods. The super mega racist purebloods think you're not pureblooded if you have any muggles in your ancestry at all, even centuries ago.

So… this was a thing. I actually had fun here traveling with my oddball companions and making friends with the main cast. I actually got both Ragna Blade and Giga Slave from Lina by trading her bigger breasts… I think from how she reacted with her new curves she thought she thought she had gotten the best of the deal. Unfortunately as I am still working out how to practice and use my new spells without accidently ending the universe she may be right. It’s a work in process.

I was mostly happy to let the plot progress as it usually did but I may have made a little mistake with Ruby Eye Shabrinigdo. When he to buy everyone some time I nailed him with morning light from King Arthur boosted by all of my holy spell boosting powers. He lost an arm and was greatly displeased so we had to run for our lives as Shabrinigdo chased after something he was sure could kill him.

I eventually had to split off from the group and play tag with him for a few days while everyone else regrouped. I was never so happy to see Lina and the gang once they were ready to fight him.

Lina demanded I teach her the spell I used I couldn’t but strangely Amelia adapted a version of it. Somehow that scares me.

I dunno honestly, I just get bored sometimes?

Anyway-refilling. I think that's the major issue provided nothing else has gone awry. The instability of the secondary function of Plug 'n Play is a dealbreaker when it comes to Essence physics. While Reality Engines can turn CREATION back into Wyld, Creation arose from it and in other jumps the base composition of reality there likely become something else. I'm not sure if the Wyld counts as "energy" enough to apply Universal Adaptor to either, and it'd probably only yield really low quality Wyld. And for me personally-Anartist is a bit of a cop-out because my method's fluffed equal parts from SCP 1714 and the Broken God mythos. That is to say-utterly non-Wyld related.

In the meantime I gotta figure out exactly what my Gaian Bastion's form and function will be. Probably borrow some sort of design from that one manse in Oadenol's Codex that opens into alternate versions of itself, definitely use the other clauses in Gaia's contract and this thing if it works to set up a Realm Defense Grid-like network of manses for further experimentation and mystic processing.

Hmm.

>>49735428
Sorry, to simplify-

I'm going to hack apart a lot of Unshaped for their organs and stitch those organs into one massive magical realm and one portal network into Middlemarches

Then I'll turn both into small objects and fuse them

Then rip off chunks from my own otherworlds to mash up into a protective conceptual gauze like Avalon to wrap them in, which I will sew to the above with leylines and quantified wishful thinking

Then I'll modify the Vault to be able to siphon it to make reality out of chaos and improve the power systems a lot.

Animorphs is weird, because it seems to follow the whole Power Rangers inspired "Teenagers with attitude gain super powers to fight evil aliens" and then brings it to its' logical conclusion. It's kids, fighting an alien empire filled with alien slugs that hijack your body while you are aware of everything that's happening. And the alien slugs aren't the biggest threat. No, that's the cosmic horror that you can't even directly fight. Hell, even in the first book What's-His-Face, the guy who gives them their powers, gets eaten alive. Shit gets dark.

>>49735561
If that means you're taking requests, then on that note, Animorphs!
>>
>>49735557
In a sense, yeah. Not like how modern muggleborns are, though. I think the theory goes that the first wizards were the product of that fine ol' human tradition of xenophilia, with the children of muggles and magical sapients like Veela and such sometimes having magic powers.

Of course, in the same way pureblood wizards are pointlessly hateful of muggles despite coming from them, so too did they mistreat magical races, doing their level best to exterminate, drive out, and marginalize as many of them as they could.

Actually I just meant the Wyld artifact the Vault-Engine will be generating reality from. In the setting of Exalted it's a literally beyond-infinite resource but outside there isn't any more I can just shape into reality right? So I need to figure out how to top that up to have more reality to create.

...THEORETICALLY given a Primordial's status as a nigh-limitless source of Essence I could try plumbing the Gaian Bastion for energy to convert into reality but 1. that's never been tested; the closest I can think of being the Gunstar, 2. I'd really prefer not to rely on THE SLUT more than I have to and 3. Primordials shape what they create, and comparing Creation to what little is known about Cemunian's Cajerron all but confirms relying on a single theme results in lower quality craftsmanship.

During HIS adventures as a young space cadet or whatever, Elfangor got into a time distortion thingy with a human woman and The Yeerk Eventually To Be Known As Visser 3 because of an artifact called the Time Matrix created by the Ellimist (the good cosmic being). Long story short, after a narrow escape he got sick of the war, decided to live out a human life with her on Earth, mode locked himself into human form, had a kid-but then got convinced by the Ellimist to return at the right point of time and space to stop soon-to-be Visser 3.

His mom had all memory of Elfangor erased by the Ellimist too. Shit gets dark in the Animorphs, yo. The series literally ends with Ax (the Andalite the other kids befriend) assimilated by an eldritch mind controlling entity, which the suriviving Animorphs decide to ram the shit out of

Personally I think before you set about creating a reality fence, you should expand reality back to its original size. I believe it's said to have lost 90% of its size to the Three Spheres Cataclysm? Then it lost 10% of that reduced amount to the Raksha's Crusade. I think they might've also lost some land during the Usurpation, when the Dragonblooded took over, but I can't recall any specific numbers on that. I know they lost a ton of land the Solars had made out of the Wyld, but that's a different matter.

Not a good idea, not for half a century at least. Because all of the people who could COMPETANTLY manage Creation in its' prime are all either drunk on the cosmic Xbox, dead and omnicidal or irrevocably mutilated and imprisoned. And because Creation currently has a lot more immediate threats that need to be defused before the risk of it blowing up again can be averted. Especially other Exalts.

Actually I'm aiming to leave the responsibility of regrowing Creation to the modern Exalts. It's not a question of trust, mind you-it's a matter of giving them a goal that will a) keep them focused instead of careening into decadence and b) instill a sense of propriety so Deathlords never happen again.

But at the moment, Creation's spiritual and physical worlds are mired in corruption and infighting, it's going to take a lot of social engineering before the world's ready to recover not just living space, but lost concepts and such.

Which as far as I know the First Age Solars never fully managed to restore anyway. Credit where its' due they did push back Creation's boundaries from twice how much it was originally destroyed. But that's still a long way off goal to achieve sustainably.

If the Gunstar Autocthonia Shard's to be believed, Creation used to have SPACE and GALAXIES and stuff instead of being a mere chunk of land 5 times the size of Earth's surface area bounded by the Wyld.

Gunstar isn't EXACTLY the same as Old-Creation, from before the war. But it is implied that when the Primordials were defeated SWLiHN outright erased a number of Concepts from Creation, which may have included space-stuff.

It's really no surprise her next book series was just as dark, with humans in a generation ship coming unfrozen when it impacts an alien installation with an artificial envirionment, full of monsters and horrors. Also they've been mutated by the faulty systems leaking radiation, the worst example being one woman's unborn fetus that mutated into a horrible undead, psychic, evil abomination still in her body.

>a) keep them focused instead of careening into decadence
That happened more to the great curse than anything, and it was less decadence and more "went batshit insane"

>b) instill a sense of propriety so Deathlords never happen again.
Happened because of the usurpation, the deathlords wanted revenge on their betrayers.

So the cure is, cure the fucking great curse.

No seriously-would you want slut juice all over everything you make? I mean, intellectually I can conceptualise the appeal for a bunch of typically monolithic and quasi-solipsistic concept aggregates since one of her gimmicks is making thinks synergise together to be better than the sum of their parts, but-it's all overshadowed by her other tastes and lack of standards. It's like knowing what the nice waitress who knows everyone's name at your favourite bar does with the coffee machine at night. The one everybody GETS THEIR DRINKS OUT OF. And also knowing that she likes going for long drives and forgetting about her responsibilities, I guess? The analogy kinda breaks down here but the point is-she's just an awful person.

She had a relationship with an UNSHAPED once. That's practically beastiality.

So, people have you ever woken up in a world and the first thing that you do is turn into a miniature robot because no ears? No? Oh must be just me...
Time to call the Ark I know this fucking world and read it as a youth, it's time to go collecting some shit.
First of all lets get a dragon, I still have the hearts blood of that one which is used in the immortality ritual I cast all those years ago, then let's mix that with a Tasmanian Devil for pain tolerance and survivalist traits. Using a base of Cuttlefish DNA I'll also grant it some killer camo. After that I drain my Essence pools to make the mighty beast. Having my companions pin the damned thing down with telekinesis we all get the form and kill the dragon, mostly so I can render the new creature for parts to study later. With one hell of a trump card held back, I hope, we begin to plan, using the cork-board map we hit them hard and fast. EXTERIOR comes online and strategic lightning strikes shatter every source of Kandrona radiation in the city is taken out save one. Cloaked in Hamon enhanced electro-static auras, just to be safe, Misaka and I teleport to the final location and flash boil the pool before taking the last Kandrona radiation source and leaving behind a small monolith, just to fuck with the Yeerks.
I'm going to seen if the Animorphs world works on Novel logic hard enough that inverting the waveform of Kandrona radiation produces a poison for them.

I'm thinking it might be a good idea to try and reason with SWLiHN some when you're an Infernal, and get her to tell you what everything was like before she destroyed it. It seems likely she remembers since her charms can evoke lost concepts.

Plus at the root of it all, SWLiHN's true desire is to be needed. She wants to matter and be valued, to be important to Creation in some way, instead of cast aside, sealed away, and unwanted. This sort of desire is the kind that's REALLY easy to manipulate into serving your purposes, since all you really need to do is convince her that being needed by you satisfactory. She doesn't have anything interfering with this desire that'd get in the way except her other strongest feelings, her love for her brother Malfeas. Even her dislike of free will doesn't rank comparatively. So the only person you need to watch out for in this scenario is Malfeas.

Hm... well fuck. So inverted Kandrona radiation causes a huge spike in Yeerk growth, allows them to live independent of Hosts, and they are fucking hard to kill now. This wouldn't be too bad but I, like the fool I am, didn't do this to a control group but to an entire pool of them at once.

As an Exalted fan, I would vote for a Gunstar specific jump, maybe even jumps for other Shards.

Also you don't need to do the robot thing, or the no ears thing. Just have a really weird brain, there are never organic species the Yeerks can't control due to their weird brain structure.
But I love your plan, it's cool.

>>49735871
They can already live independent of hosts. Their life just sucks without hosts, because they are blind, deaf, and basically mute.

>>49735850
>get her to tell you what everything was like before she destroyed it
She doesn't remember all of it, she was just as twisted by becoming a Yozi as the others. Much of what was lost is gone forever. But yes SWLiHN is the easiest Yozi to get on your side, except for maybe Ceycelene who you just need to beat the shit out of until she listens due to her "the strongest makes the rules" mentality.

Cecelyne might be possible, but you might have to mutilate her some more to make it happen, we don't know how much of her present attitude was the mutilation or from her bitterness at the Exalted for not honoring her surrender and torturing and imprisoning her anyway.

Cytherea might also be a good target. From what little we're told about Cytherea implies she really does love and care about the people and animals of Creation, just like Gaia supposedly does, despite being mutilated and locked up in Malfeas. It's just in a really patronizing (matronizing?) way, and in her mind she needs to put herself in a position of power over them for their own sakes. Problem there is actually FINDING her.

For what it's worth, if the Animorphs complete one of the Ellimist/Crayak's little game-missions in a few centuries the Yeerks will encounter an alien species called the Iskroot which evolved on similar lines as the Yeerks, but genetically engineered nonsentient host-bodies for themselves and removed their parsitism-they even gave up their own galactic empire to become peaceful merchants. The Ellimist seems to think meeting them will at least give the possibility for Yeerk social change since they'll realise there's alternatives to parsitism.

Okay, so the entire society is basically this huge marketplace that will try to sell you literally anything but hey, still nicer than galactic imperialism.

>>49735877

And then there was Everworld.

Hi, I'm new to jumpchain and after having a quick look through some that caught my eye on the drive I have a few questions.
Would omega tier healing from Xmen and the regenerating body from scp make someone unable to die from old age?
Are there any perks that can allow you to merge all your alt-forms into one/allow you to access all the racial locked powers? Such as an innovator's quantum brain, diablo angel wings or super saiyan.
Is there a perk that can merge power pools together?
Is there a perk that allows you to have no upper limits on training?
What jumps would be best to gamify/quantify the jumper? (loot drops, hp bar, "mana" bar, xp, levels, visible stats, etc.)
Can drawbacks be kept post jump as perks?
Is there an item other than the pod that allows you to take things from a seperate jump as companions?
Is there a way to convert a non cp robot from kotor into a full companion so it can obtain and keep its sentience?

>Would omega tier healing from Xmen and the regenerating body from scp make someone unable to die from old age?
Wolverine is pretty much immortal, isn't he? Wouldn't be surprised if it did.
>Are there any perks that can allow you to merge all your alt-forms into one/allow you to access all the racial locked powers? Such as an innovator's quantum brain, diablo angel wings or super saiyan.
Final Form from Sword Art Online.
>Is there a perk that can merge power pools together?
The default is that all power pools of a certain type (So all mana etc) are one. This is what the creator himself did.
>Is there a perk that allows you to have no upper limits on training?
Soft Cap from Elona.
>What jumps would be best to gamify/quantify the jumper? (loot drops, hp bar, "mana" bar, xp, levels, visible stats, etc.)
Pick any jump based off of a MMO or virtual reality.
>Can drawbacks be kept post jump as perks?
They can be kept, but not as perks. If you ever drop a drawback it's gone for good.
>Is there an item other than the pod that allows you to take things from a seperate jump as companions?
Blue Feather, Harvest Moon.
>Is there a way to convert a non cp robot from kotor into a full companion so it can obtain and keep its sentience?
Find an import that says 'robot', not 'companion', or grant the robot sapience yourself. There are no rules on created life, but you are allowed to assume that creating sapient life automatically makes it a companion.
>>
>>49736294
Welcome run while you still can

>Is there a way to convert a non cp robot from kotor into a full companion so it can obtain and keep its sentience?
You could also load a companion-grade AI (like a Halo AI) into it. Depends whether you like its existing personality or not.

Well, I was already planning on killing Sarah Conner so I guess that having an improved T-800 would hopefully make skynet see me in a better light.
I wonder how one would go about organizing a trans-temporal trade for a copy of its personality files. HK is more effective than normal terminators, after all
>>
>>49735759
You're misremembering, slightly. The other mutants in the group were from the radiation. The evil psychic baby was actually an alien ghost possessing her womb so it could be reborn and take control of the installation they crash-landed on. Because it just being a weird undead mutant baby isn't creepy enough for Remnants.
>>
>>49736718
Your best bet to get on Skynet's good side is to help build it and actively protect it.

Skynet only attacks humans cause it views them as a threat to its existence. The Jump even notes at the end that Skynet didn't attack until after the US tried to"pull the plug."

Would it be bad for two different backgrounds that are similar plot wise to share a capstone or perk albeit in different flavor?
>>
>>49737612
For the sake of parity, I'd have to say yes as a general rule. Not necessarily saying there can't be exceptions but there better be a good reason for them.
>>
>>49737499
Caught a cold off my mom when I went over to take care of her, now I'm just lying in bed conserving energy.
>>
>>49737612
Well, if they're so similar in terms of plot that they can share a capstone, it brings to question why they're two separate backgrounds in the first place.
>>
>>49737612
I'd advise against it, but it does depend how close they are, and if they are so close, then you have to consider why they wouldn't be folded into the same background.

I did that with the capstone relationship perk in Bride/Groom in Otoyomegatari partly because it made sense - whether bride or groom, growing with your partner was equally important. Yet I chose to make them two separate backgrounds rather than just one "newlywed" background because their other skills are so different; they have totally separate household roles and social behavior, so there was no way they could share the same lower-tier perks.

Don't mind me, just posting the new S&S drawbacks for critique, thoughts, and as a sneak peek.

The Only Thing You Keep (+100cp): Of what do all men dream? The feel of a jeweled throne on their back, the weight of gold and gems slipping through their fingers, and a thousand more material and temporal prizes that they might win from the world. But these are fickle things, here one day and gone the next, and you shall learn this well. You shall not lay claim to such things in your time here, and when you do they shall be temporary at best. While you still might win a prize of gold and silver it shall abide you comfort, supply, and relaxation, not the wealth of lords and kings. Thrones shall not be rewarded to you, even if the masses roar with adulation while brave men kneel in respect to what you have done. It shall be interesting to see wanderer which it is that truly has meaning to you. The fleeting glories of the material, or those of spirit, character, and deed.

To Live In Interesting Times (+200cp): Such has been a curse in the eyes of many of the wise. While perhaps before man might have seen fit to draw you into the web of their ambitions now it is fate itself whose eyes rest upon you. You are the lever, the catalyst, the turning point of fate. Whether you wish it or not your actions or lack thereof will decide the course of nations, the pulse of civilization, the path of countless lives. Not for you is the safety of a quiet life. From the frenzied struggle of wars to the alignment of stars and their strange influences, short indeed will be the times of calm, peace, and the humble pleasures of a gentle routine. So many fates now weigh upon your shoulders. To which direction might you tip the scales, whether inadvertently or through intention? When your every step might shake the world, one must walk with care wanderer. Shall the weight of the world grind you to dust?

(continued)
>>
>>49737998
Agreed. You don't need to be familiar with the source material if you're willing and able to do research. The key is just to go in with the idea of being true to the source material, and balancing that with the broad stroke mechanics of jumpchain.
>>
>>49738055
And finally

The Root of All Stories (+300cp): Before you found your way here wanderer did you hear tales of a Cimmerian who came to trample the jeweled thrones of the Earth beneath his sandaled feet. Or perhaps of long lost Melnibone and the last survivor of that damned empire. So many tales sat on shelves within your reach once upon a time. It is time you take your place among them. During your stay here you must forge a legend that will eclipse all others that might exist in this land. Among gods, sorcerers, warrior-kings and the swift foots of thieves your name must be spoken of as the first among all. Succeed and your journey shall continue onto whatever greater glories might await you in worlds beyond reckoning. Fail and you shall return to the place of your birth with naught but what you have already accomplished. Go forth wanderer. Tread where even the gods may fear, face that which heroes quake in terror of with courage in your breast. Carve your name into the very heart of this world. Seize the greatness you have scarcely dared to dream of.

Getting back into writing for this jump is fun.
>>
>>49738055
Huge fan of these drawbacks. The 100 in particular just screams Conan in the best way possible.
>>
>>49734434

Evo->External influence. Using evo resets the target's age, every time.
>>
>>49738068
Two questions for this drawback: does it require this to be accomplished within 10-year timeframe of a standard jump. Also, how does this interact with the perk that inserts you retroactively into the myths of the world?
>>
>>49738091
Yes, you have the normal span of the jump to complete it in.

If you have that perk and manage to complete this then the resulting legend carrying over would be BIG. The kind of thing that people look at in comparison to other myths and whistle before letting out a quiet "well damn" under their breaths.

>>49738072
Glad to hear anon. I'm enjoying it. The themes of the genre really make it fun to write prose for. It's just really easy to make it feel suitably dramatic and legendary.
>>
>>49738138
>Yes, you have the normal span of the jump to complete it in.
That's super challenging, but also fun and interesting. Personally, I prefer neat victory conditions like this to the Da Youkneevrs H8s U An U Weel Di drawbacks.

I imagine stacking this drawback with the Lovecraftian drawback and the legend perk would result in pure fucking awesome. Thanks so much for updating this, this is one of my favorite jumps.

Are you going to relax the drawback cap with this update?
>>
>>49738321
Heh, glad to hear anon. I'd rather make drawbacks which make for interesting stories than just make it ten years of daydreamed pain, while still being challenges and obstacles.

But yes, the drawback cap is being raised to 1000cp. That's part of why I'm adding a new drawback of each tier, so that it adds a bit more variety in what combination people can take.
>>
>>49738378
Awesome. Are you planning on putting scenarios in this update or will that be its own update?

I'm really excited to rebuild based off of these, and I may even bump this up in my jump order so that it's a bigger part of my chain.
>>
>>49738407
Kind of waffling back and forth, I'm half considering releasing an update before the scenarios are done so people can play around with any changes to their builds they want to make.

Though I'd like to say that any modifications are only going to be beneficial, nobody is going to have less CP than they used to.

We'll see how it goes. I'm finally getting some work done and it feels good enough I'd like to think I can maybe get this done in a decent time span.

Well I'm on board either way. I might be greedy and see how those drawbacks effect my build now, do a tentative rebuild, just to see what it looks like.

Have any ideas for scenarios yet or rough ideas of how they'll work?
>>
Yo, finally got off my ass and started doing builds again, got a question for the dude who made Hero Union BBS.

Is getting banned from the BBS possible, and if so, is it grounds for Chain Failure?
>>
>>49738469
I have the plots of the scenarios down for the most part, I'm just kind of stymied by the mechanics. Right now the idea is that there's a separate 1000 point budget that lets you make purchases in order to nab shiny rewards from whats going on, and taking certain options can gain you more.

What I'm stuck on is how exactly I want to play things as far as actually advancing the scenarios go. Just have people pick two or three events and by completing those they can continue on? Make the events optional story bits and leave full narrative freedom aside from the overarching plot as far as how things go? Stuff like that. Not to mention working on the spoils themselves and the unique companion options.

Oh, and before anybody asks I'm going to have scenarios let you swap your location to their locale for free since it's locking you into a plot with plenty of danger and challenge. So nobody has to pay points for taking the one they want.

If I do things right though the opportunity cost should be much much more painful anyway.

Why the fuck would it be?

>If the Gunstar Autocthonia Shard's to be believed-
Stop. They are all alternate possibilities , different shards of existence with branching points making them all very separate of one another. Taking a mod and pointing at vanilla saying it might have had these is kinda absurd. Modern has the gods (UCS, etc.) as actual creators while primordials are cthulhu mythos. The reason the two of them have space at all is because of thematics necessary to their narratives. I sincerely doubt space existed at any point in vanilla due to already having a nigh infinite expanse of alien vista antithetical to life all around creation already. The only galaxies confirmed to speak of existed and exist in the two things you like the least in setting. In the bodies of the Magnanimous Unbound Sun and Spiral Emperor That Was. Go reread that flavor text, I'll wait.

Besides, we both know the only concept really deleted in Creation was the greatest threat employed by the Exalted to the Primordials during the war. Basketball.
>>
>>49738524
No idea why, just wanted to make sure. Don't know much about the setting, so I figured I'd double check shit.

Jump two, Zelda Minish Cap

>Origin : Mage, -100
More magic. MOAR!

>Location : Mount Crenel, Free
Rolled a four. Don't know enough about the game to determine if this is good or bad, so I'm just going to roll with it.

>Race : Hylian, Free
Considering I came out of my last jump as a demon lord, being the race of tiny people who go around making people happy seems... Not a great idea. Funny, but not a great idea.

>Wind Magic, Free
>Fire Magic, -50?
>Dark Magic, -50?
No real reason behind my choices. Totally not planning on upgrading my flying castle.

>A Chest Full Of Demons, -100
You know, I think I might be evil again. Just a thought.

>From Wrought By Wishes, -200
More Magic. MOAR!

>Speaking From A Pure Heart, Free
I am apparently dead evil, but I have a pure heart. Pure evil?

>Restoring Legends, -300
I'm a magic blacksmith, not just a mage. Coolio?

>Figurines, Free
I spent so damn long in wind waker working on this... MINE, ALL MINE!

>A Complete Collection of Zelda Games, -50
Because why the hell not. If I ever go to a near-earth jump, I can be the ultimate zelda nerd.

>A Complete Collection of Zelda Game Guides, -100
Correction, NOW i'm the ultimate zleda nerd.

>The Challenger, Free
Making me wish i'd bout the demon sword here...

>Mage's Hat, -150
More magic. MOAR!
>>
>>49738613
...Okay, I think I'm done. Only think I think I wanted but didnt take was the Hero 100, for ordinary blacksmithing skills. Didn't take it because I thought the piccori 300 would make it useless.

Anyways, lets tally. 500 on mage perks, 300 on piccori, and 300 on items. Thats 1100 cp total.

Which, by the way, is way the hell more manageable than my attempt at Hero Union.

>The Princesses’ Friend, an Incarnation, +300
WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST DO??? NO, I DON'T WANT TO BE A SWORDY PERSON, I'M A COWARD, GIVE ME BACK MY MAGIC!

>Borne Of Steel, Free
Oh hey, the blacksmithing perk is free now, that nice, NOW GIVE ME BACK MY MAGIC DAMMIT!

>The Next Swiftbade, -100
I ALREADY TOLD YOU, I DON'T WANT TO BE A SWORDY PERSON!

>A Smith's Sword
Oh, well this is a very nice sword. I mean, its not really anything special, but - STOP DISTRACTING ME!

>A Bottle Of Something, -50
Potion. Potion's are good, right?

>A Place To Put Things, -50
Magic bag. You know, I really really, REALLY, wish that i'd picked up the magic box from Hero Union. It would be so useful to spy on GIRLS BATHS right about now.

Can I change my build for Hero Union and pretend it was always like that?

Anyways, build done, and I've accidentally doomed myself to being a swordy person. I don't like it.

On the other hand, I bought the Guides, so this should actually be fairly easy. Just long.
>>
>>49738621
Embrace the sword and martial prowess, like your namesake, friend. You can't trust anything in this world. Not men, not women, not magic. A sword you can trust.

Might be on a Conan kick thanks to Worm's sneak peeks.
>>
>>49738621
>Jumpers Diary on inter-dimensional 4chan, world two, day three
I'm Link now. A swordy person. And my magic is gone.

Er, mostly. Ive got a little low tier elemental stuff, but for the most part my magic is gone.

I am not happy.

Also, Zelda is... Not exactly chibi, but close.

>Day four
>>49738643
You shut up.

>Day seven
Thank god for the game guides. Because I have no idea anything thats going on.

Who is this Vaati dude? The only thing that comes to mind is the dragon from wind waker. What the heck's a Minish? Why does everyone freak out when I open my mouth to talk?

...When can I leave?

>Day nine
So, wind magic is flight. Thats nice. Mobility is nice. Also ranged options, because I DON'T WANT TO BE A SWORDY PERSON.

...I don't know nearly enough about this game to write for it. Tosses?

(Digital Devil Saga: Part 1) #62
-Background: Atma Soldier (Free) -The body of a demon does not mean the mind of a monster.
-Mind Over Body (Free) -My mind is my own, and that's a fact.
-You Can Fly! (800CP) (Discount) -Being able to fly really fast is pretty nice.
-Atma Commander (500CP) (Discount) -A streamlined demonic form is excellent. Elegance and tactical skill, even more so.
-Devil Warrior (-100CP) -Disregard the devouring, acquire initial boost.
-Stylish Outfit (-200CP) -And at least I look good now.
-Hungry Hungry Jumper (-200CP)
-Silent Protagonist (0CP)
Dice Rolls: 24 years old
-End Choice: Next Adventure

Wait. Wait where is this. What's going on, why is this place a junkyard. Why are monsters and demons running around trying to capture a girl, what the fuck is this 'Nirvana' thing about? Who even IS that girl?

Why do I feel so hungry.

My entire time here is just going to be one massive relapse of Demon's Souls. Study. Seek. Consume. Soulbrandt shall benefit from this run, yes it will. Flesh and spirit both shall be the name of the game, it seems. There's so many times that people let the power of demons go to their head and take it out on others, thinking they're invincible. Thinking they're the top of the food chain.

But there's always another link.
>>
>>49739226
Nope. Good effort, though.
>>
>>49739305
hey Red,1. Is there a limit to how many times you can take warframe abilities?
2.if you go with a prime version of a warframe that doesn't have a prime version . Could you have the abilities changed slightly? I.e. a version of limbo's Banish that works on inanimate objects.
>>
>>49739305
3.what kind of energy is the energy that powers A warframe's abilities?
4.how much of the ability descriptions we are given are hyperbole? i.e. is rhino really strong enough to stomp time into pieces, and if not what is happening with that?
>>
>>49739426
>>49739459
You know, both of your questions could be solved if you just read the jump:
>Be wary however, for these abilities are like swords... it is not simply holding the sword, it is the myriad of ways you can use that sword that decides your prowess. Of course, if this is not enough, you may choose to purchase one additional ability per slot for 200WP per power, granting you effectively two passive abilities and eight forms your power can take, an unprecedented feat

>3.what kind of energy is the energy that powers A warframe's abilities?
Again, please read the jump, specifically the story part:
>In time, they even tried to probe and understand the Void, a realm of extradimensional space filled with strange energies. This extradimensional space was a realm where the laws of physics held little sway, and while travel to it was possible, without adequate protection it was consigning oneself to a nightmarish end.
There's even a wiki here: http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Void If that doesn't answer your question, then congratulations. You're at the exact same point I'm at, which means I can't really say a thing.

>4.how much of the ability descriptions we are given are hyperbole? i.e. is rhino really strong enough to stomp time into pieces, and if not what is happening with that?
I also want you to look at this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NI_ZGFgBl_0#t=1m00s
Does that look like he is disrupting time? It might be a personal disruption of the enemies as they get put into stasis, but you're not seeing the whole timeline shatter. You're not seeing everything unravel. There is a difference between what is said and what is done.

Just, seriously Tera. Read. A lot of questions can be answered if you just read the jump and use common sense on things instead of automatically assuming the most broken thing.
>>
>>49739596
To be fair. I'm also at the point of automatically assuming my assumptions are wrong,so I ask. and I have a terrible memory.

>To be fair. I'm also at the point of automatically assuming my assumptions are wrong,so I ask. and I have a terrible memory.
I really don't care. Three of your questions could have been solved if you just took the time to read what was in the jump, and the last question could easily be solved by looking at the setting and realizing no, the timeline isn't swiss cheese held together by unraveling string from all the Rhinos slamming the ground over and over, so why would it let you go around turning any timeline ever into dust?

Just take the few minutes to look things up and stop assuming the most omnipotent thing around, tera.

Currently three threads behind, but wanted to post because I found out that the Book of Ten Thousand Scorpions (the Exalted homebrew with all the pregnancy charms), was actually using a decrepit link of an old version. Notably the updated version has a lot less pregnancy charms and links to another Oramus homebrew different from the one posted in thread.

>>
>>49739846
It's a shame because there are a lot of things about the game that I like. I like Beck being an underdog, someone who wasn't respected or anything, and then him becoming a hero. I like Ray being more then just a monster and a rival, but also a character that you can feel sympathy for because of her situation. And I like how there wasn't some evil villain trying to take over the world, it wasn't some great plot, it was just a man's pride causing him to make a mistake and a mechanical error that can still be fixed without anyone dying. Too bad they executed it so poorly.

No, that's a threesome. Neotare is when you have sex with one (the girlfriend/wife or boyfriend/husband) with the purpose of stealing them from their lover or just turning them into your sex toy. On the topic of Knightmares, we should probably address all the different types and generations. You have the mook/elite mooks (5th and 6th generation), the advanced knightmares (7th generation), the even more advanced knightmares (8th generation), and the "It's a Gundam!" knightmares (9th generation), plus the Knight Giga Fortress. Then you have all the different special features, like Hadron Cannons/Blasters, Blaze Luminous, the Gurren's radioactive claw thing (can't remember the name) and more.
>>
I'm curious, how long would it take to reach rank 6 in BBS with/without the Magical Library, considering 6 is the max a hero typically gets on their journey, and you can go from 1 to 5 in six months if you go drop in, while all others start on 5. The sort of feats you can pull of seems to be tied to your rank, so the fact the library can't get you any higher than you'd be expected to go normally makes me think it doesn't contain any super awesome spells you won't be able to do as a rank 6 otherwise, since if it did it'd probably make you a rank 7, right?

So, I decided to make a build for this.

Drop-in [Free] Can I still get the objective reward if I win the now Not-So-Cold War?
Age: 26
Location: Ruins of Washington, DC. aka The Capital Wasteland
>perks:
skilled networker [400] Seems useful enough.
>items:
Next week's paper [200] ...Are there papers in a hellscape? More to the point, does this only work in settings with regular newspapers?
Force multipliers [200] ...Why is this in the item section? Seems more like a perk.
‘Stache of Steel [100] ...Again, what? Why? it's not like you can take it off...? Right? It doesn't sound like a fake mustache...
Star wars [600] Nukes! Upgrading this with my own tech should be fun. Starting jumps off while having a killsat in orbit, just in case, seems great.
>drawbacks:
The third world war [500] BURN! HAHAHAHAHA! Such is the folly of Man. Time to put on the Ol' Power Armor again.

Got a few questions for Cenanon... (aside from the ones raised above)

Are the 100cp items/perks supposed to be free?

Could I choose not to get a NPC staff with a Nimitz-class carrier/NORAD? Don't really want them, since "NPCs" like that seem too much like creepy meatrobots to me.

Feels kinda weird to have 'The third world war' be +500cp instead of +600cp, making you have to pick one of the +100cp drawback to reach the drawback cap. Not really a criticism, it just seemed odd and I was wondering why you're doing it like that?

Honestly I don't care about Knightmares. I'm full up on robuts and mecha. I just want more and better perks.

The Guren's claw is the Radiant Wave Surger. And yeah, of course that would be addressed. It's a Knightmare Customization Section, what's the point if you're not going to let people buy the various features? I figure you'd have the generations each be a different price. Then you'd have a list of upgrades including both canon things and things that aren't explicitly shown by canon but can be inferred from it. Like, "Unconventional Landspinner Placement", to account for things like the Landspinner on the Gekka's sword or the Gawain's backpack/

Or import. Still, it's important to give the option, just in case some weird outlier wants it.

The swords in the same price range are enough to push a level 5 to level 8.

You shut your whore mouth! You got me angry enough to use proper punctuation and capitalization!

What you're saying is, we need to find some way to swing the library around like a club?
>>
>>49741877
Personally, the Shinkiro's Absolute Defence System seems fun to use. Just need a way to automate its calculations and stuff.
>>
>>49741963
That's another thing I am wondering about, but I don't want to give the impression I'm flaming the jump or anything like that.

It seems like an odd disparity to me.

Why?

The big grab, in my opinion, is the Gefjun Disturber. That thing is insanely useful, I don't know why they didn't put one on every Black Knight Frame. It can't be cost, seeing how they made micro-missiles with them for the warheads. But it shields you from particle beams, makes your own particle beams more focused, makes you invisible to most non-visual sensor systems, and automatically disables any nearby Knightmare Frame that hasn't been specially treated against it.

Because after thousands of CP spent, and millions of years lived, some motherfuckers would still be scared of math.
>>
>>49742009
The disparity is because mages are obviously much cooler than warriors.
>>
>>49742022
Maybe they want to mass-produce it for their armies? It's a really powerful defensive system, I'd put it on every machine I had if I could. And maybe they intend some of the machines to be for regular, unenhanced human pilots, who can't be counted on to have superhuman math skills.
>>
>>49742009
I suppose you could say that magic is objectively better even when possessing weaker combat potential due to versatility. The magic might have a wide variety of utility.

Considering the time and effort you need to invest I would think that it should have enough information to eventually reach Sage level, since you can just buy the Sage to be your teacher for 100 cp after all.

Can confirm, jumpmakers has said as much.

Stay mad, warriorfags.
>>
>>49742022
Because I'm lazy.

Yes, I could just randomly mash the keyboard and do the calculations in a fraction of a second. But that would require too much effort. If I'm piloting a mecha to fight, I'm just having fun anyway.

Besides, automation means I could deploy lots of them piloting by my armies/on autopilot.

>>49742045
A very good option too, agreed.
>>
>>49742061
The last thing you need is for that plan you've been working for over 50 jumps on to fail because you forgot to carry a 1.
