>Dice thread
Somewhere along the line while playing D&D in a few campaigns, I've started to appreciate dice more.
Its like a dice fetish but obviously not sexual.
>Post personal sets and dream dice

I'll post my collection later, but for now i ask you: dice tower or dice cups? As of now i'm just using my hands. Don't know why I'd use anything else exactly, but i think it'd be nice to have somthing pleasent/good looking that every one can use
>>
>>49716655
>dub dubs
I think having several dice cups would be more practical.
If somehow someone could have a dice tower for each person at a table like a billiards/pool table or maybe one large dice tower in the center with more than one face, would be more interesting.
I personally also have to use my hands but I would like a dice tower.
>>
>>49716655
Nice prop if you have a nice table. I enjoy props and clutter. I feel like people get more into the game, if they have more game-stuff around them whether handouts, maps, dice, dice towers... whatever. Just more stuff to physically tie them into shared make-believe.

That being said: I've never found a dice tower I actually think looks nice. If I could find one that was just nice wood, that'd be great. But it's always some cheesy faux-terrain piece in balsa or some crap.

For dice, I like ones carved outa semi-precious stones. They're pretty and heavy.

I would like to have a personal set of dice that would have a Phoenix theme.
They have Dragon theme dice but no Phoenix.
Maybe every die could have a different element of Phoenix.

I have 7 translucent teal dice I use for Kill Team. I need to get more so I can support double burst cannons attacks, but I would feel wrong not having a matching set.

Do you guys care if your dice match?

Luckily, I only play with friends and they can read the numbers.

I'm a sucker for opaline dice, even got a set of artificial opal dice for a present. Shame they roll shit.

I mostly need a better bag, any suggestions?
>>
I have five different colors of big, chunky, casino dice. They look like any other semitranslucent casino dice you may have seen. They're not really special, but they feel great to roll, don't go skittering under a couch even when people put too much force on them, and I appreciate the sense of obvious fairness.
>>
>>49718006
I have these, I was originally forever DM so it didn't matter but luckily now that I'm playing they trust me to tell them what I rolled.

My 二十 is printed a bit too high which makes it hard to read. Is it the same for you? Or is mine just a misprint?
>>
Depends on the purpose.

Getting some of those ridiculously priced artisan dice, made of deer bone or ancient wood would be nice due to just being nice.

On a design perspective, getting a set or two of Grime dice would be fun, making an RPG-system that plays around with those would be fun.

Otherwise, I just want to drown in Gamescience dice, they've found the path to my heart.

Sadly they are a gimmic, after about a month they cannot spin freely being clogged with skin cells and grease.
>>
>>49720946
You're supposed to clean them anon

I mean inside the mechanism as well.
Soaking dont do much at that point unless you use shit that strips the enamel paint too.

Dice Cups. You only really need one reason:
The german word for them is Droggelbecher.
Don't tell me you don't want to use something that's called a "Droggelbecher"

>>49716624
Do you prefer light or heavy dice? Like wooden, plastic or metal?

I think those are precision dices. They dont roll over your tabke. They just land
>>
Where can I buy some good dice?
>>
Custom designed and 3d printed boxes by me.
All plastic, have to have magnets for secure close.
The rolling platform has ridges so that the dice don't go everywhere.

Thoughts? Would you buy? How much would you pay? Should I try to kickstarter these?

My store used to sell singles. They would get awesome sets and just toss them into a huge 3l plastic bottle. Then I would come and spend like an hour looking through every single dice. Then buying like 10 at a time. Was awesome. See >>49723090
There are a few crazy seta I wish I owned. Most are metal 3d printed and custom ones thou.... Ridiculously expensive.
>>
>>49720802
The d6 was actually so bad I had to put it in isolation. Everything else though is surprisingly cathartic. Besides, it clashes with my hate-cube(tm) of d6's for Fireball.
>>
>>49723090
>>49723072
UHm. I'd buy a small set of that kind of thing for 15 dollars or so, though I'd be worried about it's integrity in the long term. IN addition, is there any way to sheath them in soft leather or somthing like that? A well made cup with a nice texture while holding it would be pretty cool.

That's a good idea. I was thinking wrapping it in custom decals.
Leather should be easy to do.

It's all hard plastic, so it should last you for 10years. The walls are thick and it's extremely durable.

Any other recommendations? :))

PS. Which one was the small one that u meant?
>>
>>49724563
I meant a small assortment of your materials, like a book and a cup. actually... that'd be 20-25$ or so. Please note this is not a promise that I can actually do that. I'm just saing that if I had the funds and the inclination to get such an object, i'd be willign to pay that price for yours.

How's the sound? I've held 3d printed stuff. It some times feels/sounds hollow and clacky clattery.
>>
>>
>>49724714

So 20-25 for the book and the cup together?

This is all prototype stuff. The final product will be plastic injection. The hollow sound you get from the 3d printed materials is due to the printing process, the insides of the walls are actually up to 80% hollow space to save on printing time.
Once you do plastic injection moulding that all goes away. You still get the plastic sound but it's like rolling it on a plastic dinner table. It's very sturdy.

I am currently getting prices from China to see if it's worth doing a Kickstarter. Moulds for a single item can be about 5k USD. In total that might run me 25k in just moulds. Shipping and plastic material and man hours might kill this project.

I estimate I will need at least 50k in kickstarter money to break even. I'm not even talking about profit here....
>>
You will never have as many dice as this glorious motherfucker.
>>
>>49725564
oh yoooooo, injection molding! I can jam with that. It sounds pretty awesome in that respect.

Yeah pricing is pretty crazy with all this. i wish you luck strange dice-cup ma of the future.

Where dem elven dice at? Where dem gnomish dice at? Where dem metal dice at?

Those are the dice I use. Not sure how fair they are. But I roll so many fucking 20s so I don't mind.
>>
>>49725633
Thank you.

I will be pricing wood production too.

Need to tweak the designs for that thou.

Hoping to make it work for the community.

Idgaf about profit. Just want the community and the industry to grow.
