How would you stat the Doom Slayer in 40k?
>>
Primarch Stats
>>
>>49709374
All stats are infinite. He's not controlled by any player. You have to maneuver your forces around him like a terrain obstacle.
>>
>>49709435
A terrain obstacle that moves. It's essentially a roaming blast template with instant death.
>>
>>49709374
6 Wounds, Regains 2 wounds for any melee kill, Can instantly kill any wounded enemy if attacking in melee
If there's anything to kill, he can kill forever

Isn't he basically an eversor with better saves and guns?

WS 8 BS 6 S 5 T 5 W 4 I 7 A 5 Ld 10 Sv 3++

Special Rules: Rage, Hatred, Furious Charge, Relentless, Move through Cover, Fleet, ATSKNF, and Eternal Warrior

Weapons: bolt pistol, shotgun, assault cannon, missile launcher, plasma gun, Thermal Cannon, Master-crafted Eviscerator

the Great Communicator: To wound rolls of 6 with the Eviscerator become rending with instant death and generate additional attack rolls ( further 6's generate extra rolls)

Berserker packin' man and a half: At the start of your turn, If the Doom Slayer has less then his total number of wounds, roll a 4+ to regain 1 wound. If the Doom Slayer has 1 wound remaining, roll 2+ to regain 2 wounds.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzPpWInAiOg

The forces of hell know him as Doomslayer, hell walker, and just plane him.

"He wore the crown of the Night Sentinels, and those that tasted the bite of his sword named him...the Doom Slayer." -Doomslayer testament
>>
>>49709374

Worse than a tactical Ultramarine.
>>
>>49709758
That's actually a cool concept. Imagine a model that moves moderately erratically, 6+d6 inches, simply instagibbing everything within 6 inches.

Or, is doing it's own objectives: moves towards a point until it reaches it, randomly decides on another point and repeats the process every assault phase.
>>

It's like a Killball from Halo.

Doomguy

WS 6 BS 6 S 5 T 5 W 4 I 4 A 3 Ld 10 Sv 3+

Type: Independent Character

Special Rules: Feel No Pain, Eternal Warrior, Preferred Enemy: Daemons, Relentless, Fearless, Furious Charge, Strafing, Insane Speed, Backpack, RIP AND TEAR!, YOU’RE HUGE! THAT MEANS YOU HAVE HUGE GUTS!, One Man Army

Strafing: Doomguy benefits from a 3+ cover save at all times.

Insane Speed: Doomguy has a movement speed of 12 inches, a charge range of 12 inches, and is Fleet of Foot.

Backpack: At the start of each turn, Doomguy may choose from one of the following weapons to use for that turn - Fists (Adds +1 to attacks), Chainsaw (Counts as Eviscerator with no change to initiative), Pistol (S4 AP5 Pistol 2 12”), Shotgun (S6 AP5 Assault 1 12”), Gatling Gun (S4 AP5 Assault 8 24”) Plasma Gun (S7 AP2 Assault 3 24”), Rocket launcher (S8 AP2 Heavy 1, Blast 48”), BFG (S10 AP1 Ordnance, Large Blast 48”)

RIP AND TEAR!: Once per game, Doomguy may perform RIP AND TEAR! When declared, Doomguy’s Weapon Skill, Strength, Toughness, Attacks and Initiative double (to a max of 10). He gains Preferred Enemy (Everything), Rage, his armor save becomes 2++, and his Fists become power weapons. He may only use his Fists. At the end of each of your turns, roll a D6. On the first turn of use, RIP AND TEAR! ends on a 5+. On the second turn it ends on a 4+. On the third, a 3+, on the fourth, a +2, and it ends automatically on the fifth turn. Additionally, Doomguy makes a consolidate move on 3d6 after destroying an enemy unit in assault. He may use this move to begin an assault with a new enemy unit as if he were charging them.

YOU’RE HUGE! THAT MEANS YOU HAVE HUGE GUTS!: Doomguy has Preferred Enemy: Monstrous Creatures. Additionally, any attacks he makes against them are considered to be AP2 or Power Weapon attacks. This rule also applies to Soulgrinders.

One Man Army: Doomguy counts as 1 HQ and 2 Troops.

Someone else suggested use of the Lord of War as opposed to One Man Army

Which Chaos God would be most fucked against Doomguy?

He's tireless, so he'd be able to slap Slaanesh around so long that it would get bored of the sensation, and presumably promptly collapse in on itself

Khorne would happily throw himself into the meatgrinder

Nurgle is huge, and his guts are already protruding, so he'd be incredibly vulnerable

Tzeentch is the only one who might dodge being ripped and torn, but only under the assumption that his plans aren't vulnerable to rip and tear too.
>>
>>49713553
Tzeentch for sure, DoomGuy would simply punch his way through every trick, ploy and trap used against him.

And there is a shitload of things in 40k that rip and tear harder than Doomguy. He shouldn't be anywhere near a Purestrain Genestealer, let alone a fucking Primarch. He doesn't have biological augmentation, so he shouldn't be S4. His primary weapons are also not his fists, they're his guns. Not to mention that trying to RIP AND TEAR in Doom will actually get your ass handed to you.

No they aren't, because Doomguy isn't able to dodge a supersonic velocity, or armed with supernaturally sharp claws that cut clean through metal like a katana in a weeb's wet dream.
>>
>>49714833
Statlines like that don't let you take on hordes of enemies and embodiments of evil.
>>
>>49714972
> isn't able to dodge a supersonic velocity
That's what the cyberdemons thought.
They were wrong too.
>>
>>49714976
And he won't. Because Doomguy's evil is proportionally far weaker than daemons from 40k, which are all kinds of bullshit.

>>49714988
Except he isn't, because the games quite clearly are not taking place at supersonic or hypersonic velocities. You, and everybody around you is blatantly moving at speeds under three hundred miles per hour. No information about Doomguy casts him as a super speedster able to dodge something like bolter fire (which ranges from supersonic to hypersonic), which genestealers can do. Hence why Purestrains finally got a much-needed invul save.

>>
>>49709374
Kaldor Draigo.
>>
>>49715276
This is a case of game designers being retards. We have zero reason to believe that said generic "rockets" are in fact in some bullshit super-slow vision. idSoftware just made a game to be cool, and I haven't heard anything from them to suggest anything as retarded as all the Doom games being super-slowed down.

>>49715278
If you can see "lasers" moving, then they are not lasers.
>>
>>49715877
Doomguy can see them.
>>
I absolutely love threads like this, because I enjoy watching 40k kiddies storm out of the woodworks to do damage control and prove that nothing can beat their super cool overpowered setting.
>>
>>49714972
>Thinks Doomguy can't dodge trans sonic projectiles and has to cower behind chest high walls like a pussy cog.
>Thinks Doomguy bothers with cutting metal, when rending it asunder with his gauntleted fists is infinitely more satisfying.

Have you ever actually played Doom? I'm talking about classic or the most recent here, not the "can't have a gun and a flashlight at the same time because lighting engine can't handle it" one.

Doomguy is a one-man wrecking force that melees cybernetically augmented demons to their death. He shrugs off plasma hits to the faceplate. His guns have been splattered with the ichor of beasts the warp wishes it could spawn. He is a fucking classic first person shooter protagonist. His combat level is comparable to Duke Nukem, not to a fucking unnamed stormtrooper.

The Doom Marine is oblivion, come to reap the tainted and the corrupt by force of arms alone.
>>
>>49716028
I love 40k, and it's funny for me as well. Doomguy would carve a path of destruction through reality and the Warp in ways that would make everyone shit themselves.

It'd be like throwing Guts or Caim into Warhammer Fantasy.

Isn't there a minor chaos god that wishes the death of the other chaos gods? One supposedly created by the imperial truth? It would seem to me that Doomguy/Slayer would be a demon of that guy. Still of the Warp, just against all other warp things. So really, he's a demon created to kill demons
>>
>>49716148
You're combining Malal and Necoho. Malal doesn't exist anymore due to legal entanglements, but it is referenced via the Sons of Malice chaos marines. And Necoho only exists in Warhammer Fantasy.

I love how Doomguy is one of those Chuck Norris-like figures of nerd culture. He deserves it. He deserves it not just for being a badass in-game but for setting the bar for a whole generation of shooters.

The new Doom and Wolfenstein: the New Order were some damn fantastic revitalizations of the Ur-FPS.
>>
>>49716556
Just wait! Hopefully the new Quake will add more depth to the otherwise less impressive legacy Quake left behind. I played it but by far it is the least entertaining of the trifecta in the single-player side of things. It did however set a new bar for multiplayer and even the idea of online play.
>>
>>49716556
It would have been much better if there was mod support, I mean if there is one thing I think of when I think of Bethesda its the Modding scenes, and Doom has one of the A++ top tier modding scenes that's ever existed alongside Half-Life and instead they give us this snap map thing which isn't nearly as fun to use or as versatile as say TimeSplitters 2's level editor.

Than again ID Tech 5 is a fucking monster of an engine to the point where I'm not entirely clear how viable modding would be on it for a normal guy with a normal PC.
>>
>>49716556
Well think about it in-universe.
Sure most players bashed their head against the brick wall every level to complete them, despite how hard they were and how they had no save points.
But in universe? Doomguy beat each "level" on the first try, because to do otherwise would mean he died.
>>
>>49716691
Though to be fair, in the newest Doom it was said that the Doom Slayer "chose the path of eternal torment" or somesuch. Which probably just refers to all the time he spent killing shit in hell, but it could also be a funny nod to his eternal respawning.
>>
>>49716691
>in universe
Fuck that, have you seen Ultra Nightmare difficulty in DOOM 2016? It's Nightmare, but if you die you get sent back to the beginning. Not "to the beginning of the level", to the beginning of the whole game.

And, of course, there are already speedruns of Ultra Nightmare.
>>
>>49717057
Whenever I imagine how it "actually happened" in a given FPS, I always assume it was first go, max difficulty, 100% (in case of collectibles, but also sometimes with body count, even when that's impossible or contradictory), and speedran.
>>
>>49717188
Halo has Heroic be canon.
>>
>>49716039
The Doomslayer actually reminds me quite a bit of Sam Vimes. In the new game, that is.

That same sense of experience instilled badassery. They've seen this shit before and it didn't scare them the first time.

I also get a lot of Vimes' general "There are good people that you're fucking over with your incompetence and so I've made it my personal business to take you the fuck down" attitude in 2016 Doom.
>>
>>49714833
You're pretty retarded. The only thing s that can possibly match up to Doom Guy in the Imperium are the Grey Knights. And even then, they're pretty fucking weak.
>>
I do recall that Doom Slayer killed some sort of Titan demon in an epic showdown. The same demon that forms the corpse you fight through in a level
>>
>>49717722
Yep, it's even called the Titan's Realm, you find a massive skull and jump down into the bowls of the things corpse. Must've been some intense fight if the monster is large enough to be an entire game level....that still has locked color coded doors?

>>
>>49713553
A lot of Tzeentch's strength comes from doubting yourself, and whether or not you have control over your own will. Doomguy wouldn't care, and would metaphorically bulldoze his way through Tzeentch's plan because of sheer singlemindedness. And if you do manipulate him, he'll just get madder, not get existential like Magnus.

Say he were confronted with Fateweaver, he wouldn't waste time puzzling over which head was lying, he'd just go into rip and tear.

Also any idea what the Doomguy looks like? In the originals he looked very similar to his contemporary B.J. Blaskowitz, but in the Doom comic (which we all know and love) he was black-haired and much thinner.

His face is completely obscured in the latest game, so I've just taken to assuming he looks like a cross between the two.

No, logic wins.
>>
>>49723213
Nobody's shitting on 40k, they're just having fun memeing out with Doomguy. It's the 40k sperg who's taken it upon themself to get all offended and anal over the PRECISE RULES N LORE of 40k - a setting that runs primarily on Rule of Cool.

If anything I'd call a Doom-40k crossover a great thing. The problem with Doom is the scale is so small. The battlefield is constrained to our solar system. Doom demons are preported to be able to wipe out whole planets, yet the Doomguy makes them look like scrubs. Doomguy NEEDS to get thrown into 40k just so he can have something to sink his teeth into!
>>
>>49723390
>The problem with Doom is the scale is so small.
The problem that the Doomguy assblasters have with it. They want him to be the most awesomest thing ever everywhere in any setting, and when they learn that his superpowers don't make him the biggest baddest badass in all of 40k, they start howling with rage-fueled laughter and attack the people pointing it out, FOR pointing it out.
>>
>itt we try to imply the player avatar is not all powerful
Idiots. Doomguy can manipulate time, at will, for any reason, after death if need be. He can take on an entire Chaos infestation by himself because he has foreknowledge of everything that happens. He may fail ten million times in a row, but he only needs to succeed eventually to succeed against all odds.
>>
>>49723438
His super power, along with all player avatars in video games is that they can resurrect and rewind time. That's why they always win. Against anything and everything.

Otherworldly influence makes it seem like mundane people can accomplish extraordinary things. That's what being an avatar for something greater does.

For context, this exchange. He's asked if he had unholy assistance to overcome the chaos invasion.

The player character did have unholy assistance. The player manipulated time and action to ensure the success of the captain.
>>
>>49723438
Nobody's "howling" at anything. Again, the fun of Doomguy is his memetic badass status, which becomes more and more canon as time goes on. He's a baseline video game character: unstoppable and driven on by player immortality, his personality doesn't extend beyond rage, making him more of a force of nature than a person.

So it's just funny to throw him into 40k and watch him tear shit up in a setting that compliments him. It's the 40k fans who seem to be making a deal out of it, railing over the sanctity and "srsness" of their setting. Just go with the fun. It's not like GW is actually going to release Codex: Doom Slayer, and have is only rule be "you win". It's for the sake of comedy, chill out.

Counterpoint: your entire post. You're not the first one to condescendingly and angrily shout down people for thinking when you ordered them to just shut up and take your assblasts, but you're a pretty good example of the "shut up because caring makes you inferior" mentality.

Well it's just you're taking this very seriously, is all. Doom is not a serious setting, it's very over the top and gory. As is 40k, though with 40k you can make it as serious or comedic as you like. Right now we're just going all out on comedy. I'm sure on another, more serious thread, I'd defend the details of 40k lore just of much as you are. But right now I'm just saying "have fun and chill out" and you seem to think people are being condescending and hostile. Nobody here is trying to shit on 40k - they just think it would be a fucking awesome playground for someone like the Doomguy.

I love how the new Doom was essentially Brutal Doom with flash. Chaining together a a string of staggered imps and crushing all their skulls for health? Priceless.

Also I found it funny that Doomguy was actually kinda Lawful Neutral in it, at least in terms of his own code of ethics. "No demonic shit allowed. I'm the only one who gets to use Hell power because I use it to kill demons. Any other use of Hell power is asking for disaster and I'm gonna stop it."

He's like a supernatural, power-armored Safety Inspector.

>My opinions

That was your first mistake. I don't have opinions, I have factual assessments of quality based on flawless reasoning and a comprehensive knowledge of the relevant facts.

Opinions are base things that most people quite rightfully see as the refuge of weaklings. Opinions are entirely unnecessary if you have basic reading comprehension and a sense of pride.

In fact most people agree that opinions are an imposition on the rational, so you should reconsider what you're saying and agree with me instead.

First of all I love how two of those posts weren't actually me. Second of all, I specifically said that in a more serious thread I would've defended 40k lore just as much as you (probably not now that I've seen how furious you get).

Third of all, you keep thinking people are calling you "insane" "stupid" and even "subhuman". NOBODY has said those things. People are being hostile to you NOW because you went full sperg-rage mode, when everyone else was just having a conversation about Doom-40k.

It's great you care about a setting, and again, nobody's insulting 40k. They're merely having fun imagining Doomguy causing mayhem in the 40k setting.

You have a massive persecution complex, as well a delusion that people are competing with you. ALSO you're likely a troll, and so I will also chastise myself for feeding you so much over the course of this thread. I should've just ignored you and had fun talking about Doom.

Not that guy, but I'm kind of tired of the Doomguy memes, too. I never played the Doom series as a kid and first heard about it through the RIP AND TEAR stuff, and was disappointed to learn that in game he was a bog standard FPS protagonist.

I used to do what that guy is doing now because I hated how much hype surrounded Doomguy when I didn't see him as any more special than any other hero in a shooter. Not even against 40K in particular; I would argue Samus could beat him in a fight and usually got meme'd on pretty hard.

I understand where he's coming from and suspect he may be underage or still in the same phase of vs. arguments that so often plagues comic books.
>>

>bog standard FPS protagonist.

Though to be fair the proposition of a Samus throwdown has me curious, because Samus' meme levels are also through the roof.

Let's make it a good-natured throwdown, on the stage of 40k. First space warrior to kill 100 Bloodthirsters wins.

In the eroge School Days, he's the protagonist's father. He's also a huge narcissistic asshole, and he gets around a lot. He doesn't even care if it's his half-sister, daughter, grand daughter, great-grand daughter, etc. It's expanded on in other games in the franchise. >He caught a glimpse of the technicolor form through the gaping hole in the daemon's chest, before he was able to fully take in the figure as the beast slumped to the sanguine earth.
>It's arm cannon still steaming from the plasma blast, it fixed him with a helmeted gaze.
>"The fuck was that?" the Slayer yelled through his helmet's speakers, "I had the fucker right where I wanted him!"

>Suddenly an image flickered on the Slayer's HUD, a vid-feed from the other warrior's armor. A closeup of a fair-faced woman shot him a vicious grin.
>[Keep up if you can. These demons aren't gonna kill themselves.] Her suit folded in on itself, and she shot off like a cannon ball to the next fight on the massive battlefield.

The Wretch isn't Samuel Hayden, stop listening to fucking reddit.

The Night Sentinels were betrayed by one of their own, who sold them out because the demons promised to bring his dead son back to life. What he got was a demon in the form of his son, with all his memories and personality. The traitor killed himself out of shame and horror, and his son allied with the Night Sentinels and Doomguy to try and right his father's betrayal. He's the one that 'forged' the Doomguy's armour, and the 'human-like' design may because of his own heritage, the Doomguy's own specifications, or because it's an upgrade on his existing armour. The Night Sentinels get around in armour that looks straight out of the Crusades because they've been in hell for much longer than Doomguy.

Mostly because we don't see the lesser 40k daemons much, creatures like Imps and Unwilling are somewhere between the average Chaos daemonic soldier and lesser creatures like Nurglings, whilst Hell Knights and Pinkies are approaching Greater Daemon levels of power (sounds strange but both hit like a tonne of bricks, even against Doomguy, whilst their own physical resilience is more lacking), and creatures like the Cyberdemon and Spider Mastermind are easily the equal of Daemon Princes.

I don't think a Doom movie is a good idea though, I don't think you can do it right regardless of how hard you try.

Doomguy isn't here to tell his story or talk or interact or any of that. He's here to kill the fuck out of some demons.

That isn't conductive to a movie format because it would just be a big action scene, especially if you had him played by a big name actor who will insist on showing his face and talking a lot.

And it was perfectly used in the new Doom game where there actually is a pretty well written story going on around Doomguy, he just doesn't give a flying fuck about any of it and just wants to kill some fucking demons because that's what he does.

Just think what Karl Urban after Dredd would do with a story like the new game's. I like to think the movie cast works well as a group from one of Mars' moons that eventually get back to Earth because of the Doomguy's actions in Doom 1.
>>
>>49747447
That brings up a decent point on how a good Doom movie could be like Dredd in where it's less of a story and more of an exercise in cinematography.
>>
>>49747530
Well they tried the first person aspect, but their preference for live action in the sequence (literally nothing but the Pinky and the assault rifle firing/hands were CG, and the camera had a rifle prop mounted to the bottom), and the fact they had a total of 3 performers for the Imps and Hell Knight meant it looked like shit.

Now I think it would be a good looking movie if they had the budget, but did something like the Halo movie was planning on, which is that the Doomguy is viewed as a force of nature, and no communication happens between him and the squad of marines trying to assist them. Though it would probably get all experimental with the last 45 minutes of the movie having a silent protagonist butchering monsters.
>>
>>49731256
Still Karl Urban, just wearing the helmet constantly, as it should be. You know, like he did in Dredd. I honestly feel as though D44M would make a great movie if you boiled it down to its core plot and cut out a lot of the go to x and get y. The major issue there is that D44M, surprisingly, has a canon that wouldn't make sense to a movie audience off the bat, and while as a video game it makes a lot of sense standalone, as a film it'd fall apart.
>>
>>49743604
Nothing in particular 'happened' to Doomguy. He was just, apparently, very good at what he did. His prowess is evidenced in the games and that carries over through a sketchy canon that looks something like:

Doom 1 -> Doom 2 -> Doom 64 -> Dimensional hijinks in which he assists the 'precursor race' from Doom 3 that interacted with demon energy in putting a stop to their demonic problem, Doom 3 protagonist possibly completely unrelated otherwise -> Doom 2016

So he's been at this for aeons, battling demons, picked up some sick praetor armour, which I suspect to be his original suit which was then demonforged, and a cadre of crusader followers who also joined him in hell. He was eventually baited into an elaborate trap preceding the events of Doom 2016 and imprisoned in a sarcophagus, the game opens with him escaping from it in a dimension that's not his own, but very similar.

I just assume that Hell is outside of the regular dimension structure and that's how he keeps ending up in universes that are very similar but ultimately different, what with the ARGENT energy, Hayden in charge of the Mars colony, but the UAC as a constant.
>>
>>49747716
There must always be a man, a shotgun and an unethical megacorp? This is getting to be Bioschock Infinite tier.
>>
>>49736700
I guess he tapped into the ARGENT energy somehow. Probably through the Praetor suit. Also the universe might have adopted him as a constant check against demonic incursions, because he was THAT good, and always happens to show up when shit hits the fan.
>>
>>49731256
Ben Aflec
>>
>>49713447
He also can't be killed only temporarily contained, killing him just means he re-appears somewhere else and now he knows where all the enemies are. To the demons he's "the big bad that needs to be sealed away".
>>
>>49747730
It's not like it's the key plot point though, it's just an explanation for why Doomguy is still around and so much of a fucking badass. I'm cool with it.
>>
>>49736790

Correction. Dropping a Cathedral on him only allowed them to put him in a box that got progressively smaller. It didn't actually hurt him and any attempt to kill him like that would have just started the engine all over again.

>>
>>49747716
So lemme see if I understand this correctly

Doomguy was just a regular soldier-type dude who found he was just good at kicking demonic ass and somehow managed to kill so many that he was empowered by it. To the point where he apparently stopped aging and no longer required things like eating or sleeping in order to fuel his murder-spree against hell. Trap happened, he got sealed in a sarcophagus long enough that he made a fucking IMPRINT in the stone of it and then somehow he was discovered by the UAC of another dimension and subsequently released.

I miss anything or is that it?
>>
>>49750356
That's pretty much it. There's a bit more with his crusader friends and speculation about his role with the precursor race in Doom 3, and the demon forging of the Praetor suit, but other than that. Yeah.
>>
>>49749865
Is infinite ammo enough dakka?
>>
>>49749213
That's a significant overstatement. His punch hits about as hard as a single shot from a pistol, which is puny compared to even a lasgun. A Space Marine could hit a lot harder than him without power armor.
>>
>>49747893
They got his armour off somehow, so I don't think he was just locked into a shrinking box. I like to think that it was enough to knock him unconscious and completely pin him down so he couldn't just dig out of the rubble Grimaldus-style, and that they literally transfigured and compressed the entire temple's worth of rubble into his sarcophagus.

Plus the 'cathedral trap' being a legit tactic was more to do with that actually working on one man because you can hold off on triggering the trap until he's where you want him, wheras trying to drop a building on an entire army is less reliably effective.
