Dreadnoughts were shit from day 1. Never were good, even up to today.

Warmachine morphed into infantry machine. MK3 made them better with the 1 free focus, but infantrymachine is still by far, the only list you can take if you want to play competitive.

Infinity TAGs need baby sitting, and can but shut down by a multitude of ways, hacking, glue, shooting.

Why? They're the coolest thing in each game, and in warmachine, literally the main draw, and yet, everyone ends up using infantryspam at the end of the day?

>infantrymachine is still by far, the only list you can take if you want to play competitive.

Either you play in a very strange meta or you don't actually pay attention to what people are bringing. Khador and Protectorate jackspam is very much a thing. The number of Crusaders or Berserkers you can fit in a list is obscene, and you only need one of them to get through to the enemy Warcaster.

I mean, they're not the MOST competitive lists around, because they can't really do anything more complicated than running forwards and hitting things, but they're powerful enough that they'll run roughshod over most casualmachine lists.

My ork dreadmob/ forgeworld meka and mega dreads, and stompa weep.

Good. An army that makes everything but the opponents anti tank units near enough completely useless is fucking stupid. Armoured battle groups can get to fuck too.
>>
>>49706136
On Infinity a TAG is still heavily armored and often packing weapons that will shred anything other than another TAG in an activation. Having options for the little guys to fight helps, though note you have to take those items. Not every list is packing ADHLs and AP+EXP ammo.

Battletech the Mech's are better than...
power armor infantry, or infantry. Infantry can almost harm a light mech, and can scuff the paint job on a heavy, and makes assault class giggle at the tickeling.
Meanwhile two machine guns which are common weapons mounted on mechs can rip apart infantry units with ease. Shredding it's way through an infantry unit.

Infantry's big advantage in battle tech is how it can lock down buildings and secure objectives or destroy buildings and objectives from the inside easier than a mech can from the outside. It also sucks trying to get infantry out of a building before they destroy it if you don't have infantry of your own.

Plus, in urban environments there's nothing stopping a squad of normal dudes from climbing above cockpit level and just shitting RPGs at Mechs.
>>
>>49707761
This. TAGs are good, expensive choices are supposed to bend your list to accommodate them, and warbands a shit.
>>
>>49707900
Just shoot over the infantry.
>>
>>49706136
You forgot to mention that the only reason people took warjacks going from mk1 to mk2 was because of the free battlegroup points
>>

>Castraferrum are shit
Those dreads were light walkers designed to fuck people up in closer quarters the other contempteresq dreads couldn't get to and they are cheap.
Contempters and others wreck shit in Zone mortalis.
Point being the dread is not a giant robot, it's a light infantry support vehicle.
You want imperial robots or Knights or titian for full battlefield support.
Also dreads are good.

>Infinity TAGs need baby sitting, and can but shut down by a multitude of ways, hacking, glue, shooting.
Yeah because if they couldn't be people who didn't run jacks, and ariadna would be fucked by the imbalance and only pano would reliably win. Also these units are light infantry support vehicles more or less.

you talking shit about my jaguars son.

Dreadnoughts were terrifying in late 1E/2E. Even bikes were pain to deal with because of the vehicle damage system. Both could be harassing you with multimeltas (back when they were area weapons) or heavy plasma. When assault cannon were introduced as an option everybody kind of relaxed about them, partly because lots of armies were getting better all-round weapons and partly because assault cannons used to jam regularly.

Even today, a standard dread with twin-linked lascannon/missile launcher is what, 125 points vs a Devastator combat squad with less staying power for 100? Sure, for 125 you could have two missile launchers and two lascannon. And you'd still take morale checks and you could get wiped by a squad of guard with lasguns and lucky dice, or tarpitted by Gargoyles after they deep strike right behind you and spend their first turn hitting you for 2.5 unsaved wounds. True, with a dreadnought they'd get something like 5 glancing hits and destroy it, but those guard couldn't touch it if Creed himself ordered them to.

You might as well say Titans are shit from the beginning and always will be because they've got hull points and you can lose hull points and the titan can be destroyed and then you can lose the game.

This is before we get into variants with anti-air capabilities that can smack down those Gargoyles as soon as they appear or the importance of standing with your back to the wall, surrounded by friends and well-wishers

Infinity TAGs are great, just need infantry support. You know, kinda like IRL tanks...

GK dakka dreads (2xAutocannon, Psybolt Ammo) were one of the most cost effective units of their time.

Infantry have taken a nerf in MK3.

I enjoy the Dread Mob.

I notice people aren't as quick to say "walkers suck" when they're looking at about thirty of them on the table.
