>It's a dungeon with curtains instead of doors
>>
Yes, but why?
>>
>>49705410
It's the BBEG's harem and the harem girls are succubi and harem guards are minotaurs.
>>
>>49705410

Tactical reasons:
-Quick transitions from room to room for sentries
-Unusual sounds can be heard with greater ease by stationary guards

Financial reasons:
-Curtains are easier to repair or replace
-Curtains don't cost as much as doors

Aesthetic reasons
-Great diversity of available materials
-Wide range of color selections

How might a BBEG booby-trap a curtain?

How would he secure his personal room? What would prevent someone with ill intent from bursting through his curtained doorway while he sleeps?
>>
>The curtains are lustful mimics
>>
>>49705480
>curtains have been bestowed a guard - dog level of intelligence
>fabric is tougher than it looks
>intruders get strangled and suffocated the instant they try to enter
Unless you're playing in a boring low-no magic setting. Then soak them in oil, set them aflame, and escape out a hidden passage in the room.
>>
>Throw open the curtains
>Faced with a blank wall
>Not all is as it seems
>>

Is this harem labyrinthine?
If so, I might allow it--for thematic reasons.

All the curtains are Rugs of Smothering.
>>
>>49705410
I played a module that had some of these. In a few places, the doors rotted away or became unusable in the millennia since the place was abandoned by the humans who once maintained it. The beastmen who later moved in, lacking the skills and resources to replace or maintain the doors, hung up curtains of hide in their place.

From a GMing perspective, it allows monsters without thumbs to move freely between rooms, keeps PCs from impeding monster movement by nailing or barricading or holding them shut, makes the PCs' every sound matter because they are more easily heard through a curtain, but still affects the PCs' line of sight. It forces them to be more careful or risk alerting/fighting more monsters because stealth is harder and they don't have as much control over the dungeon environment.

Place guards at the entrance, and set bells, wind-chimes, or other noise makers about or on the curtains. Anyone bursting through makes a great deal of noise, even if they somehow dispatch the guards without you being alerted.

Every minion in the dungeon is taught to say "It's curtains for you!" when slaying trespassers

Those are assassin curtains, mate. When you look away from them while in melee range, a hand shoots out and stabs you for hefty damage.

Of course, when you try to defend yourself from the "hidden assassin", the other one gets you in the back and finishes you off.
>>

>Some of the curtains have locks on them for whatever reason

Rogue would get sad without them.
>>
>>49705878
Fighters wear armor under robes. Wizards wear prop platemail made out of foam core.

Welcome to the new normal: all tropes must be inverted.
>>
So the dungeon is the Black Lodge? I'd be down with that.
(On mobile so no image but it's a creepy ass Twin Peaks thing)
>>
>>49705540
Porn burnouts exist in fantasy too huh
>>
>>49705402
All the curtains are Mimics.

The floors are Trappers.

The walls are Stunjellies.

The ceilings are Lurkers Above.

Yes, we know this one by heart.
>>
>>49705402
>the trick is that there's hundreds of curtains set all willy-nilly right next to each other and you have to figure out how to get through without getting turned around
>>
>>49705430

>The BBEG is called Fatalpulse and hails from the plane of the sad pandas
>>
>>49706260
>the lich's lair budget is running low because adventurers keep stealing his funds

>has to replace some of his doors with curtains to make ends meet
>puts locks on the curtains anyway just to let the thief shine
>thief knows the lich is doing a good thing for him, but it's just not the same without a solid door
>thief doesn't want to say anything because he's ultimately responsible for it
>thief starts reverse-pickpocketing treasure onto monsters so the lich can afford proper doors and traps
>the lich knows
>thief gets to the lich's room
>they don't even fight
>they just roll initiative and hug because they know they both care about each other
>thief still nicks some jewelry off the lich to show the rest of the party, but replaces it with gems and a thank you note

what a beautiful love story
>>
>>49705480
in one of the D&D 5e modules they have a curtain over a doorway and the curtain hid barbed wire, so guards learnt to use a stick to move it out of the way when no one was looking
>>
>>49713464
Horde of the Dragon Queen does it with a nice Con save to not take a hefty amount of damage from the poison. Gotta love them kobolds.

This is my most favourite thing I have ever heard on /tg/, maybe even all of 4chan.
