Urchins are like level 1-3 Agent programs for faces. They do the simple stuff you could do yourself, but don't want to, because you have wine testings to attend to.
I would suggest that every face has a 3-4 loyalty and 1 influence urchin as connection.

My latest concept is someone who was a street kid in Chicago's Zone during the quarantine. 13 at the start, 16 at the end. By the end of it, he was a scarred, deeply traumatized badass with an assault cannon and underbarrel chainsaw. He fucked around in Chicago afterwards as an ultraviolent Zoner mercenary, before finally trying to transition into running. Age has tempered him somewhat, as he's now pushing 40, but the assault cannon and chainsaw still come out when shit hits the fan.

What would you do, Hand Blades in Cyber Lower-legs?
>>
>>49697958
You would need an exotic weapon skill for that, which is ehhh?
>>
>>49698118
I haven't seen anything that says you'd need an Exotic Skill.

Not the Raptor Foot (obvious, more expensive hand blades that get extra AP and are only R), and not the foot blade (by the book, only for flesh feet, hard as hell to get, F, mathematically about the same as hand razors, which doesn't necessarily mean anything in play).

I'd say, though, that you should be able to get an equivalent to the core stuff for your feet, same with being F rated if they're retractable. Probably R if they're obvious. More expensive, though, based on the precedents of the Raptor Foot and Foot Blade.
>>
>>49698118
Implanted melee 'ware uses Unarmed Combat
>>
>>49698274

By RAW putting implant weapons in cyber legs are identical to putting them in cyber arms, and they're all naturally retractable. Not sure how useful shock feet would be though...

Also, I think by RAW you can put them in cyber skulls and torsos, which makes no sense whatsoever.
>>
>>49698352
Well, they're retractable. You can give the worst headbutts and the most extreme reactions for "I Don't Want To Be Hugged" ever.

For the head one, perhaps if you're good at con, argue that it's oni cosplay?

And yeah, by RAW you should, but somebody, somewhere's going to argue off those two bits and I felt I should start there because the other side is, well. Dead simple.

As for the use of shockfeet... I guess it's the funniest way to unexpectedly short out stuff?
>>
>>49698352
Ramming and headbutting people with your cyber-mohawk sounds amazingly awesome, though. It could even be retractable, like Zoidberg's head spines!
>>
>>49698352
Hey, technically cyber genitalia count as cyberlimbs too. So... what, implant a microgrenade launcher in your dick? Get spurs in your vagina and run around killing people via vagina dentata?
>>
>>49698402
I don't think cybergenetalia or Breast Implants 2.0 have enough capacity to take that.

In fact, I think they both have capacity ratings of [1], which means that they can be put in cyberlimbs.
>>
>>49698435

>>
Don't mean to derail the thread but I'm with a group that's about to start a campaign tomorrow and there are two of us who are pretty shaky on the rules; the decker and the rigger (me).

The thing that seems to be throwing us off is what to roll for a given action. As everyone seems to agree, all the books' layout are complete garbage and we're having a hell of a time figuring out what we need to know.

Are there sheets out there where you can just insert your stats to figure out what to roll for general actions ahead of time?

Another thing that is sort of messing us up is the Matrix. I have a handle on how it works conceptually but, again, I'm having a hard time finding what softs I need, for what and when.

Last thing; any suggestions for a rigger set up? I have my stats laid out for the most part but was wondering what kind of gear you suggest. Our party consists of a face, decker, and rigger so it looks like I'm going to be in charge of damage.
>>
>>49697295
>Not carrying a Highlander for delicious +2 reach

>>
Is there no mechanical benefit for kicking with Hydraulic Jacked legs? That would be perfect here.
>>
>>49697958
Cyber lower legs, Bulk 2, Skimmers, hydraulic jacks 4, spurs (or foot anchors), and armor.
>>
>>49698445
And you can have enough capacity left in your non-bulk obvious cyberskull to put in any of the cyber melee weapons other than the shock hand or a hold-out pistol.

If you bulk the skull up at all, then shock hand is available as is a light pistol.

Synthetic skull can't really mount anything other than that one bit you want. And in that case, it sort of negates the purpose of a synth-limb.

>>
>>49698549
CGL?
>>
>>49698475
The Hayek sheets have lots of helpful stuff, and in that link in the OP, there's also a spreadsheet that will do the calcuations, IIRC.

If it's 5e, you don't need any softs, and you can arguably even do without programs. You won't want to, because they're great. And you might want an Agent as a general purpose search-engine trawling bot for when you can't be assed to do it yourself.

For the rigger, have a back-up motorcycle that can take the walker mod if you're able to use Rigger 5.0. Mount a weapon on it with burst or full auto capabilties and marvel at the huge extra RC it has.

For you personally, get a full smartgun system. The link in your eyes (normal or cyber), and make it internal to the gun if you don't have the slots free for it. Take something with burst fire, at least. And if you have a cyber-limb get a pair of rating 5 sensors (an array if you've got the scratch) and start a turn off like this:

Simple Action - Active Sensor Attack (your perception+intution-3 versus their agi+stealth. Net hits become a penalty to their defense rolls until they can break the lock with a better agi+stealth or you lock on to something else)

Simple Action - Smartgun Aim (You get both the die and the limit bonus.)

Then next pass for you, shoot a burst and watch their defense disappear.

With regards to Anarchy: It looks like the cue system lets players act like mini GMs on their narrations, but what exactly are the limits? I see a list of what is strictly the GM's territory, but not for players, or even a good example. Can a player add set dressing (computers, caves, keys, a passcode on a sticky note)? Add NPCs?
>>
>>49698576
That's odd; the roster is only supposed to load stuff that's in your MRU list (Which you can remove by right-clicking on the items in the File menu), or the Watch Folder that you define in Options.
>>49700156
Of course, that's pretty much the entire point of the cue system. Players have free rein to put in whatever they want, but the GM has the right to veto stuff.

>>49700299
Hey, Yekka, how would you be able to make something like this in Chummer and have it properly effect gear?

dikote™: This chemical process deposits a layer
of diamond on any solid, rigid surface . You can use
it to reinforce the structure of buildings, vehicles, and
even worn armor, increasing the Armor rating (Ballistic
and Impact) by 3 . You can even buff up your melee
weapon, giving it an additional +1 to its Damage Value
and, if it’s an edged weapon, a –2 AP modifier .
The Dikote™ process is sold by surface area, in lots
of 100 cm 2 . For reference, a jacket is about 15,000
cm 2 , a full suit of armor is about 22,500 cm 2 , and a
long coat is around 27,500 cm 2 (multiply by 0 .75 for
dwarf sizes and by 1 .5 for troll sizes) . A katana is 500
cm 2 . It’s a good edge to have on the street, at least
until the patent expires and everybody has it .

Probably would need to either make it a flat cost for convenience or something, but how would you go about adding this codewise if someone wanted to put it in their own thing?

If this is doable, would you be able to do a real quick explanation of how to add other values along the lines of this? Tweaking weapon damage/AP/reach, or adding things like that.

>>49698402
Cyber genitalia have [Capacity], not Capacity. That means they can get installed into a cybertorso (or cyberarm, cyberskull...) without taking up Essence. It does NOT mean that your can install mods into them. They're like hydraulic jacks, spurs, or armor - a mod for a cyberlimb, and not a cyberlimb in their own right.
>>
>>49701731
...So I could have a cyberdong coming out of my cyberarm?
>>
>>49701775
You could be the cyber-porcupine.
>>
>>49701731
>>
>>49701775
Yes. You could have a series of cyberdongs installed in every bit of Capacity available in bulk cyberarms, cyberlegs, a cybertorso, and a cyberskull. I'm not at my computer right now, or I'd give you an accurate total too.

Alternatively, you could install a dong in one hand, a pussy in the other, and then entertain yourself when bored.
>>
I want you to imagine a woman. She can be whatever you like, loli, milf, ork, elf, human, Asian, white, doesn't matter. The point is that she's had every single limb, including her head and torso, replaced by obvious cyberware. Every single point of capacity on her new limbs has been filled with a cybernetic vagina and reproductive replacements, after adding as much bulk as we possibly can. I am almost certain that we're fitting enough ware in her that she's become a cyberzombie. Her bloated flesh is rejecting the chrome, steel, and silicone. What little left of her soul shreds more and more as the cancer expands to eat the remnants of the flesh that was once so sweet and nubile. The dregs of her soul are imprisoned, screaming, in her body, as grotesquely warped and enfolded around the dozens of artifical vaginas and wombs as it is. This is not the supersoldier kind of cyberzombie. This is the advent of a new generation, a generation used exclusively for birthing. Grotesque embryos grow in the jars that make up her reproductive system, and dripping tunnels riddle the puffy, swollen patchwork of tumors that serves to connect her augmentation. She is yours, the knowledge is etched across every centimeter of her flesh and bone, and she weeps to know it.

Imagine it.

>GET YOUR FUCKING DICK OUT OF MY FACE!
>>
>>49702798
You could also install a cock behind, rather than in front, of your pussy, for a very different kind of dickgirl. Just insert, sit, and rock your way back and forth to maximum entertainment.

At that point, though, you may as well just get a sim module and a looping 1 second recording of an orgasm's climax and just enjoy some coldsim while you wait.

Question about spirit combat.
So, when spirits are manifested, they're dual natured. Let's say it wants to attack another spirit that is hanging out solely in the astral plane. Could it affect that spirit using its elemental attack power, which is physical based rather than mana? I'm thinking it shouldn't, but another player says it should (since the attacking spirit is dual-natured, and is using magic to attack magic)

So I offered my players a nice paying job today. Record a simsense of each team member conducting a raid on a warehouse, abduct a runner team with the same archetype make up, deliver them to the Johnson. The Johnson will then feed them psychotropic drugs and BTL-level version of the simsense recording until they believe they were the ones that pulled off the raid. Then the Johnson will deliver the captured runners to his boss, to satisfy their wishes to punish whoever it was that really raided the warehouse. Johnson figures it'd be too much trouble to track the real raiders down, since it happened months ago and they left no traces.

The players, being sensible, sane people, turned down the job and managed to back out without pissing off the Johnson. To quote one of them, out of character, "I don't know if I should be proud of us or screaming that we missed the point".

It was a fun session, and we didn't even do anything.

The best part is that the players were the real raiders of that warehouse.

A little of both. The bank on Zurich Orbital exchanges constant data with banks on the ground. Plenty of the station's other systems, though, are wired-only with no external linkage. So it varies system by system, and it's basically the one place in the entire setting that you can be guaranteed is designed 100% with security in mind. Anywhere else is designed with affordability and profitability at least somewhat in mind, leaving glaring runner-exploitable flaws in security measures, but not Zurich Orbital.

How useful would a dedicated sniper be to your average team of runners? I feel like making one, but I also don't want to fuck over the rest of my team.
>>
>>49708273
It depends
My group has one, usually they are useful if you have open ground and lots of targets, though with AR targeting they should be able to shoot through walls just fine
Remember that Longarms include Shotguns, meaning that if someone gets close the sniper can defend themselves just fine
Since they need skills to get into position undetected they may also sideline into infiltrator

Anyone with only one job is not very useful. Be a rigger with spotter drones who also snipes, or a decker who has sniper drones, or a samurai who focuses on Longarms.
>>
>>49708273
>How useful would a dedicated sniper be to your average team of runners?
Somewhere between fuck and all. Dedicated nesting snipers are about as useful as hibernating bears when you're in a dense city, arcology, or just inside a corporate building - and that's most runs. Then there's the fact that runs don't often go perfectly to plan, and a sniper needs the target to pass their line of fire. Better to have a flying sniper drone rifle and rigger controller.
>>
>>49708273
>How useful would a dedicated sniper be to your average team of runners?
Super useless. You'll be camped on a sniper's perch hundreds of meters away while your party's stuck inside a building where you don't have line of sight. Being a sniper is incompatible with running.

What you can do, though, is be a designated marksman. Someone with the Longarms skill who uses an auto-shotgun most of the time, but also has a sniper rifle for picking off distant targets. The sort of person who - if overwatch ever is useful - can climb into a perch and do it then without issue, but who's ready and able to go into buildings on foot instead.

Having a dedicated sniper is a bit like having a dedicated getaway driver - you're taking a member who could have been inside helping out, and putting them outside where the action isn't.

Yeah that's mostly what I thought. Thanks for the advice/warnings. Though, a getaway driver honestly seems more useful.

I was actually trying to think of ways to play with a gunslinger adept. It's only my second character though, and my first awakened one, so I'm still kind of unsure of what I'm doing.
>>
>>49708465
The getaway driver is mostly useful if they are also a drone rigger, or a npc.

No one wants one of their party member's actions to mostly be "I wait in the car watching Neil the Barbarian."
>>
>>49708465
>Though, a getaway driver honestly seems more useful.
A getaway driver is, at best, a quarter of a role. To be a getaway driver, you get Wired Reflexes, Reaction Enhancer, and a Control Rig. Then you get a fast car with plenty of seats (Hyundai Shin-Hyung with Extra Seating mod) and kit it out with a sniper rifle, armor, and plenty of autosofts.

Congrats! You're now a halfway-decent street samurai, with a car that can provide indirect sniper fire while you're indoors (so that the car isn't useless while you're inside) and even disable other vehicles with well-placed APDS shots, and once you leave the building you're a Reaction 10 dude with a Control Rig and a really fast car.

Fucking neato.
>>
>>49708479
No one also wants to end up having to leg it back to the safehouse after raiding that arcology. I only said "more useful" in relation to a sniper.
>>
>>49708490
Also, you could give THIS guy the Longarms skill and have him be well-equipped for sniping too.
>>
Wasn't Dervish also a sniper? Because I remember him using Sniper Rifles and Shotguns in-story
You could take him as an example
not "Sniper who also is a Sammy" but "Sammy who also is a Sniper"
>>
>>49708273
Depends on your job.
Most runs take place in places a sniper can't cover, like inside office buildings, underground tunnels, ect.

That being said, a person who has the option to snipe is a godsend.
I would reccomend taking the qualities Sharpshooter and Strive for Perfection, then carry around a sniper, a longarm, and a melee weapon.
That way, your sniping skill could make for some crazy stupid called-shots in close quarters, and you could still play sniper support when applicable.
Also, called shots apply to melee.
>>
>>49697777
This
>>
>>49708750
Also I'm sure a heavy enough sniper can pierce walls. If you get live vid feed from the actual people inside you might be able to hit the mage in the one place he didnt expect to be hit.
>>
>>49708803
Kek.
This exact situation happened in my first run.
We hunkered down in a Neo-Panera Bread, installed cameras all over the place, and had our sniper line her gun up to a wall.
Her shot was so powerful, it pierced the wall, the glass doors, and took out both a mage and the engine block of his truck.
>>
Actually, what's the viability of gunslinger adepts overall? I realize I'm stepping into a serious unknown for myself and I kinda feel like I might accidentally just turn into a 3.5 monk if I'm not careful.
>>
>>49708729
He was 'a guy capable of sniping,' not 'a sniper.'
>>
>>49708803
For sure. Someone or something capable of placing AR markers where enemies are - like tagging enemies in stealth games - is a godsend for this reason. You still take the blindfire penalty (which a good shooter can easily eat) but at least you know which square to aim for.
>>
>>49708908
Super viable. You take Improved Reflexes 3 (Because Initiative is that good), take the hit to Essence for Muscle Toner, implant a Smartlink in your eyes, and then spend any PP you have left on stuff like Astral Perception (Because Assensing is that good) and Improved Ability (Some Shooting Skill).

Adepts, especially Adepts willing to lose a bit of Essence to 'ware, are the hypothetical ideal dice pool guys. They're better at the raw, massive dice pool of any mundane skill than anyone else. Sometimes there's 'ware that counts for more than a raw dice pool does - like the Control Rig for driving - but in general, they're just fucking amazing at whatever.

They make by far the best hackers too.

The most annoying thing to me in shadow run is people who devote themselves to one thing.
I've mostly experienced this with adepts, but its happened with a mage or two. For example one adept I played with build the standard "I turn a guy into vapor just by punching them." And then the player constantly complains when we have role playing and mission planning sessions because there character by design brings NOTHING to the table. Yeah they can punch a guy into oblivion, but they won't be able to do shit in a job negotiation. Hell there was a mission we had where it was a car chase, all of us where having a great time, shooting out tires and tossing grenades out windows. The adept just had to sit there in the car doing nothing, because the player refused to use a gun, then nearly got themselves killed trying to jump from a moving vehicle to another one and wiffed.

Worst part is most of those kind of builds have more than enough AGI to pick up a few side roles, be it stealth, lockpicking, or even using throwing weapons if they're deadset on never using a gun.

Specializing = Good
Overspecializing = Bad
>>
>>49712196
>pick it up as a power
wasn't it that PP wise the toner is actually the better choice?

Because you most likely mean the Improved Physical Attribute Power, right? Because if I see this correctly it costs 1PP per level, with you rolling MAG+rating
Assuming you have 6 Mag and rating 1 you roll 7 dice, averaging to 2.33 hits, meaning you usually raise your AGI by 2, sometimes more, sometimes less
If you take Muscle Toner at rating 4 that means that you have ALWAYS a +4 to your AGI, regardless of how well you roll
The muscle Toner costs 0.8 Essence, less if you take it at Alpha grade(0.64), this leaves you .2 Essence to the full Essence point, meaning that you can fill them and still only take -1 to your MAG. Enough to fit in a Smartlink

So you can either get
>Improved Physical Attribute for average +2 AGI, costing 1 PP
or
>ALWAYS +4 AGI AND a bonus on smartgun weapons, for the small cost of 1 essence point, meaning you go from 6 MAG to 5 MAG
>>
>>49712248
My rule of thumb in character creation. Is choose two things you want your character to be good at and one to two things that you want to build your character to be good at.
For example lets say I make a elf mage
I want this elf to focus on being a face and to give them some stealth for survivability and utility.
The thing I want to build is magic. Give them a decent amount of magic, but not a lot of skills and spells.
That way while I have those two things they are good at I can focus using karma to build up there magical ability AND BAM you have character development.

You're mixing up Attribute Boost and Improved Physical Attribute.

Attribute Boost only costs .25 PP per rank, and has you roll dice for a temporary boost dice pools of the associated skill (the RAW wording implies Attribute Boost AGI won't increase your movement rates, for example).

Improved Physical Attribute costs 1 PP per rank, and works just like Muscle Toner, where each rating raises your Attribute by 1 at all times.

So yeah, toner is absolutely more efficient than stacking multiple ranks of the Improved Physical Attribute. But if your GM is a stickler on upgrading 'ware, it'll be easier to upgrade in-play with the adept power.
>>
>>49712434
You're looking at Attribute Boost, which is .25 pp a level and has you roll. Improved Physical Attribute is a flat +1 to attribute per level (and costs 1 pp per)
>>
>>49712100
Whenever a player brings me a character, the first thing I ask is "What can they do before a fight? What can they do during a fight? What can they do after a fight?"
If you don't have an answer for at least two of those questions you're in trouble.
>>
>>49712566
>>49712578
Whoops
Still, with Attribute Boost you get a DP of MAG+rating meaning in this example a DP of 9, average 3
with muscle toner you get +4 on the attribute, increase in limit and accuracy and if you want a +1 dpm

Seems to me that it's the better option
>>
>>49712583
I would agree with you...in some cases. However I would make some exceptions as well. For example one of the most interesting characters I played with was someone who a blank slate. All of his skills involved combat, guns, and survival. However the player devoted almost every once of karma he gained to social skill's, charisma, and knowledge. Because he wanted to roleplay someone adjusting to being around people.
>>
>>49712731
Survival would then be the thing he can before or after combat, to ensure his team stays safe in hostile territories.

Because I can't find anything online regarding the subject, what tests and skills would be required to "joust" a target on a motorcycle?
For clarification:
>Target is in the open on foot, possibly shooting at you
>While on the motorcyle, you lower your lance into a braced position
>You then run the target through, perhaps pushing him farther down the lance or even flinging him off with your speed.
It's a crazy concept I have never seen anyone try.

Alternatively, what bike mods are required for this? Definitely armor and a gyroscope, but a weapon mount seems too extreme for what is essentially a clamp on the side of your bike.

You're looking for the Passenger/Pilot Vehicle Action called Melee Attack.

Page 179 of Rigger 5.0

Polearms and spears fall under the Blades skill in Shadowrun 5e, and I would assume lances would as well.
>>
>>49713086
Would i take damage if I succeed the strength test, but only because of the gecko grip? Or am I overthinking this? As unlike hitting something, I am piercing through something.

Also, it says that it would add the speed of the attack to the damage, is it a flat bonus (6 speed = 6 extra damage)?
>>
>>49713165

Gecko Grip would give you +6 dice on the Strength test to hold onto your lance. You won't take damage.

Yes, it's a flat bonus. A Dodge Scoot traveling at 3 Speed would add 3 to the damage value of your attack.

If you were using the standard core book Polearm to represent your lance, you'd be doing (STR + Speed + 3)P damage.

Dervish wasn't much of a "I'm gonna hang out on this roof with my rifle" kinda guy, from what I recall.

I think "sniper" has the connotation of being perched far from the action, which isn't necessarily the best place to be during a interior break-in or similar mission where overwatch is going to be blocked by lots and lots of walls.

Thus the distinction between "sniper" and "guy who can use a sniper rifle." Being a designated marksman using longarms is really strong in 5e since sniper rifles do shitloads of damage.

I guess "a sniper" might imply that sniping is all they do, while "can snipe" implies that someone is more well-rounded.

For small buildings, sure. But enough layers of wall will stop your APDS.

And since every section of wall reduces your DV by 1, you'll always be doing less damage than you would by actually being on the front line.

I'm 90% certain they're going to end up shoving out some more narrative system with about as much crunch as D&D 5e. Shadowrun stays a complex mess because they keep inheriting it, and when they try to simplify things (like the Matrix) it mostly doesn't work.

Pondsmith hasn't done much ttrpg in the past two decades, aside from Dragonball (which was a crappy game) CP2020 3.0 (which was a really crappy game) and Mekton Zero 2015, which is less autism than previous editions. Whatever team does the heavy lifting in design (Pondsmith himself admitted in the Mekton kickstarter that he doesn't design much anymore, which is partly why it took so long to make, as he wanted it to be more modern but he doesn't have any experience doing it) will likely make it much lighter than Interface or Fuzion.

The problem is that the Improved Attribute power is grotesquely overpriced. It costs the equivalent of 4 Magic/Essence in order to get Rating 4 of Improved Attribute.

On the other hand, even fucking Used Muscle Toner 4 only costs a Magic/Essence equivalent of 1.

That's right, Improved Attribute is literally four times as Magic-expensive as Used Muscle Toner.

You'd have to be a literal retard to go the Improved Attribute route.

Not commenting on the book. NDA, sorry. I'm only taking feedback on the errata for Technomancer rules in the core rulebook and Data Trails. It's on the forum.

The errata was originally done by me and the other authors of the TM book, then given to Patrick Goodman and the Errata team to make sure it's balanced and such.

The goal with this was to create a working "vanilla" technomancer ruleset, in case the technomancer book sucks, or you don't want to buy it, or whatever, then you still have some working technomancer rules in the form of the errata'd core and Data Trails. Secondary goal was to make a solid foundation (ha, pun) to finish the book from.

So, feedback? Anyone?

I also thought a while about why people think TMs are so dangerous and there's a solution to that in the book as well

I appreciate lowering the obnoxious cost of using complex forms, but that doesn't completely change the playing field that makes them see little use.

Lots of them are still super unclear, to the point your GM has more to say about what they do than the text itself (resonance veil, for one). I think those need their errata before the book can add new ones.

Also, it's still very silly that Technomancers get 5 complex forms at A priority, while Mages get 10. Shameful, really. There's no reason for it. Same with Mages getting to pick from more skill groups.

Everything essentially comes down to this: You have dicepools. You roll Xd6, and if one d6 comes up 5 or 6 it's a success. For an opposed test, the other guy does the same thing with his dicepool, and you hope you get more successes. For a threshold, you want successes equal to or greater than the threshold.

Bonuses and penalties apply to the number of dice to roll. "Net hits" means how many successes you got minus how many you needed, if you succeeded.

The rest essentially boils down to knowing what to roll when and what modifiers you get. As the GM, read the rules sections of the core book a few times and don't be afraid to ask the thread about stuff. Chummer will often tell you what to roll for a skill or whatever if you hover over it, too.

On talk of snipers drilling through walls we had a shitty run in which we struck into office held by Triads in LA. After securing their asset inside the office building the Triads alerted by our traitor Johnson surrounded the building and cut our retreat off. We decided to fight and wait as our fixer was handling outside support.

Plan was simple, decker hacks into CCTV system and provides overwatch and defends from Matrix stuff. While rest of us are coordinated by him to good positions around the office. When the Triads tried to get in our decker by using CCTVs marked enemy locations on our AR goggles. Practically we had wallhacks.

This lead to our bruiser adept literally punching people through walls and pulling them to his side. My driver rigger just used his Ares Alpha to drill through cubicles and launch grenades at the lift.

Heavy lifting was done by our Barret Model 122 using sammy. He just shot through thin office walls and nailed Triad after Triad.

In ensuing fight we killed 23 Triads and wounded 48. At that point our fixer managed to arrange a ceasefire with clause that we need to deliver the Johnson to Triads in 24 hours or Triads kill our fixer. With ample 11 hours remaning Johnson was given to Triads and we quietly left LA for new adventures

They need to be summoned to the physical plane before any of it is possible, then one can begin to consider exactly how alien a spirit's thought processes are, and how static their mental state is. Remember, this is a world where change comes through karma, and spirits have no natural karma - it's all gained through dealing with summoners.

Do you have high STR and good AGI, whether due to being an Ork/Troll or STR based adept? If yes then maybe Bows are for you, see pic related

Grenades are a tricky thing
On one hand they are very useful, whether for clearing rooms/hallways, obscuring sight, marking places and creating openings
On the other hand is the risk of going overboard with them. Your GM might find that if you cheese through every encounter by spamming 'nades then he may do the same
If you want to use grenades, talk to your gm beforehand and agree to a reasonable use of 'em
>>
>>49722811
Make sure that you have flashbangs and flashpaks and not just explosives. That gives you more options for non-lethal combat.

Also get throwing knives or shuriken. It may not be perfect but it's better than nothing when you need to take out someone quietly and harder to detect than most weapons.

first of all: Yeah, they are super powerful in the right environment, like tunnels, hallways and other tight spaces due to chunky salsa, meaning
>the wave hits you
>travels through you to the walls
>gets reflected
>hits you AGAIN
>travels to the next wall
>etc.
IIRC you can take out a heavy armored tank with just one grenade due to the space between tank and ground

Second: It depends on how much you use them
if you use them occasionally for clearing rooms, obscuring enemy vision and maybe using them as makeshift explosives it should be fine. But if you are constantly using them to avoid all danger and risk then your GM might be pissed after a while
and do the same to you
entering a room and having 3 grenades land next to you is almost a guaranteed kill
which is why you should talk to your GM about that and agree on a code like "We will not spam grenades whenever there are enemies and in turn you won't do the same to us"
>>
>>49723619
>IIRC you can take out a heavy armored tank with just one grenade due to the space between tank and ground
Hey, someone remembers my bullshit rant!

Yeah, a frag grenade can absolutely DESTROY an M1A1 Abrams tank (Something like 90 damage compared to its 15 Armour and 22 Body) if you throw it underneath the vehicle.

A $15 grenade destroying a 5 million dollar tank. What a concept.
>>
>>49723619
So, has no one tried making grenades not insanely overpowered in said enviroments so one can use them without fear of GM reprisal?
>>
>>49723750
well, you could remove the rebounding of the shockwave, even though I don't know if that's such a good idea

Or you could just not spam them.
There's a continuum between
>"use even one grenade and you are SO DEAD" and
>"corpsec chasing us? Grenade. Grunts meeting in a room? Grenade. Lone KE soldier in a field? Oh you better berieve that's a grenade" Looking at you, "Seven-7"-anon
if you don't spam them your GM should be fine with it

>WAR! stats the smallest nuclear weapon (Presumably 0.01kt) as 130P, with -6/m damage loss
Jesus Shadowrun that's pretty fucking optimistic.
>>
>>49723855
The issue is that grenades are actually used all the time in ream life, because they're great for room clearing and what have you. Whenever there is a room full of people you want dead, you SHOULD use a grenade, because that's what does the job with little to no danger to you.
>>
>>49723912

>>
>>49723912
>used all the time in ream life
of course it is realistic
but realistic =/= fun, at least not always
neither for the GM, who can just throw away all his enemy stats, they're going to die immediately anyway
neither for the players, because it is FUCKING BORING
>>
>>49723750
Don't use anything but walls for rebounding surfaces. Flashbangs / stun damage doesn't rebound. Anything else?
>>
>>49724020
I would suggest just redoing a bit of the grenade rules. I've posted it before, but taking a cue from T2k13 could make grenades still the freshmaker for room clearing, but no where near as overpowered in hallways and under tanks.
>>
>>49723888
Don't get into realistic nuclear explosion results in Shadowrun. The sixth world is explicitly not going to play ball.
>>
>>49724117
Apparently low yield weapons work perfectly fine, for whatever reason.
>>
>>49724125
Got a quote or reference? Because everything I've read has can be paraphrased with, "It might work, but it's not predictable as to how well."
>>
>>49724159
>The gamemaster is encouraged to decide for herself when and where nuclear weapons detonate as designed, with the general guideline that the smaller the nuke, the more reliable it is

Okay, I may be taking too much of an inference from that, but the book also mentions the use of tactical nuclear weapons being semi common in the war (Or again, at least implies it), so I would think that small yield tactical weapons are exempt from anti-nuke plot devices.
>>
>>49724110
See, from my perspective this solves only one of the problem of grenades
As I see it there are two areas that need help
>Power
and
>Frequency

Your pic solves the power problem. they aren't too overpowered anymore, though you'd need a LOT of work to convert from DV+Fall-off to something similar to Radius+Frag

The other problem is frequency. If you often use grenades, why shouldn't your opposition. If you can use grenades to kill/severely weaken everyone in a room, why shouldn't your enemies do the same? they usually have the better stuff anyway. In that case it gets down to "Who can notice and react faster?", whoever is faster/sees you earlier has practically already won the fight. Imagine that:
You entered the compound, your legwork seems good. You enter one of the rooms and suddenly you hear something fall next to you. You turn around and before you can react you are hit by the explosion. You are then either dead or severely damaged, so that the corpsec has an easy time finishing you off. GG make a new character.

I honestly don't see a solution except for the players and GM to agree to restrict themselves
>>
>>49724336
>In that case it gets down to "Who can notice and react faster?"
No, it turns in to "Who can get in the better tactical position and not leave themselves open to grenades and other such ambushes." It requires one to be a lot more cautious and deliberate with their positioning, recon, and retreat plans.

Also, corporate security is not going to throw grenades around willy nilly, because that's property damage. They wouldn't even have grenades. That would be reserved for designated combat teams.

Anyways, I'll do some conversion writing and toss the stuff in to a pastebin.

Going down the list and referencing the ones I know less, here's my item by item opinion.

Cleaner was already nice at it's old Fading, but this one gives you a reason to thread it at something other than level 1 (edged or otherwise). Whistle up a low level sprite, register it, and then you can be working on two or three instances at once (effectively).

Diffusion of [Att]'s cost means that you might see use of ones other than Firewall (generally useful) and Data Processing (resists almost all of the non-Firewall checking Forms thus far) but those two will still be king.

Editor has a great price unless you were to end up at the table of somebody who says it's exactly like Edit File. You still probably want Skinlink for use with this one, but that's a different thing entirely.

Infusion of [Attribute]: ah, it's actually better than the spell it's most compared to. I mostly kid, but being statistically likely to boost anything short of Elf Techo max Attack or Dwarf max Firewall without hitting yourself with an extra penalty is nice. Also raises the range of deck stuff you can consider raising.

Static Veil. Well, huh. The decrease is nice, but unless you thought there was going to be an enemy (or Prank Warrior) techno around you already wanted to go for 2. This just lets you insure yourself some by going higher in those cases, for no additional cost when it's necessary.

Pulse Storm. This guy was nasty, but hard to justify with the old cost. Being able to get an okay limit without eating 5 or 6 fading makes it kinda useful, even if it's likely to be hitting against two big numbers.

Puppeteer was the definition of having edge as a part of the fading cost and was strong enough that I didn't completely mind. Being able to pull out a low level one just to risk stuff or be extra sneaky is lovely.

Resonance Channel's lowered cost is kinda meh, because distance noise tends towards the extremes. cont....
>>
>>49724374
>It requires one to be a lot more cautious and deliberate with their positioning, recon, and retreat plans.
See, this might be fitting if you play some Vantablack Trenchcoat games, where you have to have studied combat tactics for a few year to survive some runs
but most people just want to focus not only on the planning but also on action
and for those it quickly gets bad if they are immediately swarmed by grenades

Also, I said Grenades, not necessarily Frag or HE
Even if they throw three stun grenades you are still mostly done unless you have specialized defenses against it
and I can imagine that a guard has a Stun Grenade, just in case of groups

Still: Thanks for trying to make the conversion. It might help some chummer out when running the game
>>
>>49724508
Wasn't that because it went off inside the barrier the insect spirits erected?
>>
>>49717166
And if you're far enough away that it matters, you're probably doing things the hard way.

Resonance Spike. I would want to see that in use before deciding how strong it is now. The benefits now definitely outweigh the Fading.

Resonance Veil is now much stronger even for a less permissive GM, because you can more reliably land it.

Static Bomb. The lowering makes it into less of a real emergency, use Edge kinda Form. You'd still probably want to use Edge for the extra assurance, but it's no longer a case of definitely go for breaking the limit.

Stitches just got a bit faster in a way.

Tattletale is still pretty narrow in when you'd be able to use it, but at least it's a bit more affordable now.

Derezz is now a nice attack form because you might want to use it. You might even see use for both it and Spike, but probably not.

FAQ's new cost means that now you can buy a nice dice bonus instead of breaking the limit with Edge.

IC Tray's not much more useful, but when you can use it, the benefit's nice.

Redundancy being able to turn one shots into two shots was nice, but never quite worth it. At least now you can swing higher and even if you don't get it, hopefully make a more regular difference.

Misread Marks is now something you might use in non-emergency situations. You may still use it the same way, but having it more available is nice.

so my players consist of
>a thieving traitorous mage from "Chiraq"
>a country boy techno from the Nippon
>a smoothing talking hacker with a hate-on for Aztechnology
>and a player who hasn't made a character yet but will probably but some sort of gun slinger from the NAN.

whats a good way to start them off other than food fight?

pic related. its the mage and the techno

Why would you NOT use food fight?

two of them played it before

Some other runner's job encounters bad complications near the group. They now have the paydata/prototype/other easily taken and hidden thing, and have to decide quickly what to do with it.

They could turn it in to the original Mr. Johnson, but that'll definitely get 'em enemies (and the Johson's only willing to pay part because it's late or something).

They could get to a specalized fixer that they normally don't deal with, because the guy's way out and only meets in face. That'll get the complications that got the group the package after them.

Or they can return to a member of the original owning organization who put out a few shadowy feelers to try and get the thing back, fast. This should get both the original runners on 'em, and the original complication, but the good is that eveyone's fighting everyone else, so if they can make it, there's an easy run out to be had. Probably not the best rep-wise, though, but might carry extra pay or some other favors.

Oh, and make sure that both the original runners and original complication 'know' that the group has the stuff, so that they can't just leave it.

http://pastebin.com/ThtX39pB Is that convoluted enough? Tell me any fuckeries I have in there before I start actually re-statting stuff.

>two of them played it before
and?
Food fight isn't supposed to be some complicated module where you are thrown into a place of intrigue and shadow wars and have to meticulously figure out what is going on
It's meant as an introduction, a quick way of
>showing the setting
>familiarizing the players with the system and
>getting them in contact with a fixer or some other source of work
two of them knowing it isn't bad
in fact: It's great! They know what is going on, they can get the others on the right path if they can't
at the end of it you have to ask: Do they know what the setting is? Can they use their role, even at a basic level? Do they have somewhere they can go for shadow work?
If you get all three as yes: Yay, you did it

Seems good, though someone else should also check it in case I overlooked something

Doesn't 5e's foodfight have a whole backstory to it and stuff?
>>
In SR4 all spirits had resistance to regular weapons, is that still the case in SR5?
>>
>>49725464
You mean the (inferior) Fast Food Fight?
Why the fuck are you playing that and not the superior Food Fight 5.0?
>>49725487
Yup
>>
>>49725504
>Yup
What page? Core rulebook I presume. GM is being paranoid.
>>
>>49725464
About as much as the other edition food fights did (unless you're talking about Fast Food Fight aka Food Fight 5.0, that's a whole different thing).

Any spirit that materializes gains Immunity to Normal Weapons through the Materialization power. It gives them Hardened Armor equal to twice their essence.

So it can be a bit nasty.
>>
>>49725528
398 in the text for the Materialization power. If the spirit has an Allergy weakness, then the Immunity doesn't cover it.

So have a back-up flamethrower and water gun for those water and fire spirits.
>>
>>49725528
CRB p398 "Materialization"
>Additionally, they gain Immunity to Normal Weapons while materialized

Thanks. And everyone was calling me paranoid for trying to stock up with HE grenades when about to go to some fucking Unga Bunga Abracadabra island...

>Unga Bunga Abracadabra island
where?

>>49725636
Honestly, Stick-n-Shock's a bit better for spirits, because, as a whole, they have a few less boxes of stun track than physical track.

At least until you get to the ones where you want ADPS or the like, so that you can get max AP out of your weapon.

Just popped up close to Seattle. It's a pregen adventure.

What defines something as a "Normal Weapon"
>>
>>49726440
IIRC it was any weapon not magical or elemental, though I don't have a quote on that
>>
>>49726440
Not being magic. The power specifies what does count as NOT a normal weapon, so everything else counts as normal. Weapon foci, dual-natured shit, anyone with Killing Hands, any other effect that specifies it counts as magic and lets you fuck spirits up.

Any special vulnerability they have bypasses their immunity, and electrical damage is still good for fucking spirits up.
>>
>>49726677
>electrical damage is still good for fucking spirits up.
How so?
>>
>>49726677
Most sources of it come with good AP which makes it doubly effective in getting past Hardened Armor.

And they still take the init hit if they take damage.
>>
So how quickly would a Trog Lives Matter movement get put down. Does KE and Lone Star have Carte Blance in gunning down Orcs and Troll when they trog out afrer a case of police brutality?
>>
Are there any decent rules for tracking police awareness? Like how many fuck-ups should I allow before the PCs wake up covered in a HTR team? Or perhaps some weird tracking test I make for a detective NPC assigned to their case.

General conspiracies or more magically focused?

>>49726983
The UCAS' government isn't nearly repressive enough to do anything effective about something like that.

Trog concentration camps when?

Initiative and AP, generally.

I think in shadowrun magic is a part of all conspiracies.

What I do, is that I create a dicepool based on what happened during the session and roll it, and if I get 10 successes, I increase their public awareness, which I add to dice pools to track them.

Camera footage would be 1 dice per 5 minutes on footage. Instantly add 10 dice if the players faces are visible.

For Survivors/Civilians I roll memory checks and add a dice for each successful one.

Mages can send spirits to track people through astral, or can even track people themselves with astral overwatch. Have mages/spirits follow them around, but only for a certain amount of time. I add dice depending on how much they've seen.

Track marks. Seriously. Mark the deckers shit, and use that to track his ass. There really isn't any dicepool needed for this; if the decker doesn't turn off his gear after a couple of minutes, his Overwatch score will be through the fucking roof. Cops would be on their way very shortly.

Or, just have people follow them. If they don't pay attention enough during escapes, you can literally have cars just tail them from their mission to wherever they are going.

Shit guys, ive been telling my friends i want to play shadowrun, but now they want me to run it for them.

How the fuck do i do this? I only made characters id like to play
Ive got no runs!
>>
>>49727471
Say 'no'. If for some reason you won't do that, start off with Food Fight and browse the archives for inspiration.

I am most familiar with 4th, but it is fucking terribly edited..

I am thinking of learning 3rd or 5th, if they are any easier for newbies or if they jave at least tables of contents and functional indexes.
