have you ever had a laserpunk game? what it was about?
lasers
punks
Did a short game that was kind of a 50's sci-fi styled game of the players landing on Mars and getting attacked by weird space aliens.
It was kinda silly and we were all high at the time. *shrug*

Ray gun Gothic. Heavy suspension of disbelief. It was a very "John Carter of Mars" kind of high space fantasy. Magitec, psionic powers, big monsters and damsels in distress.
Read Promethea; it's right up the alley
>>49659130
It's called pulp you fucking plebian.
>>49659130
>*insert here*punk
kys
>>49661322
>coin operated punk
>>49661322
Woodpunk is my favorite, desu.
>>49659130
>laserpunk
Do you mean Pulp SciFi? Raygun Gothic, perhaps? Is this some sort of post-punk irony you're employing here, or are you just not well read? Work with me here, OP.
>>49659130
>laserpunk
I want to scream
>>49661322
Personally I'm a fan of the punkpunk. Waking up hungover after accidentally killing someone last nightpunk also is pretty cool.
>>49661858
You mean post-drunkpunk?
Honestly which is worse?
X-gate or X-punk?
>>49662063
whatgate? Explain yourself, anon.
>>49662063
Fuck you Stargate was goood.
>>49662120
Gate as a suffix in general. Often tacked onto controversies like deflategate.I find both rather obnoxious
>>49662194
Oh, scandalgates.
Isn't the closest term that actually kinda exists atom punk?
>>49659130
>laserpunk
First off: fuck you.
Secondly: Cosmic Patrol. Look it up.
>>49662263
Honestly pulp scifi/space opera feels closer.
More ray guns and space nazis, less atomic dishwashers and communism.
>>49662372
I meant more like in stylistics than themes, but yeah, you're right.
>>49663483
Aesthetically yeah, it's very Raygun Gothic, like Atompunk is. But the tone and themes of any cyberpunk derivative are generally the more important parts. You can tell a steampunk story without cogs and airships. You can't tell it without an industrial underclass.

>laserpunk
Isn't that just an illegal rave?
>>49662369
This. It's basically Flash Gordon, the game.
Also check out Mutant Crawl Classics which should be coming in the next 6 months or so. It's gonzo pulp scifi but plenty of rayguns.
>>49659130
>laserpunk
It was already, legitimately, called Retro-Futurism AND Raygun Gothic.
Do we really need to 'punk' it's name also?
>>49661303
Incorrect.
Pulp is just a form of sensationalist writing and can cover any genre.
Most Raygun Gothic is pulp, but not all pulp is Rayguns.
For some well known non-pulp Raygun fictions see Metropolis, Star Trek (especially the original series) and The Jetsons.
>>49662194
scandalpunk?
>>49668109
Isn't that just contemporary political fiction?
>>49668331
Yeah, but it doesn't incorporate the "-punk" suffix, as all genres must.
