a cozy little thread to discuss Johnathan Wodjic's body horror RPG system in the making.
Johnny Boy released the first of the Ectosaur line today, and I can see them going places.
I saw some more of his art on tumblr, and I'm excited for the one that looks like on of those prehistoric barnacles but there is an eye in the center and it has hand petals

I wonder if he will do an ectosaur version of the Quetzalcoatlus.
>>49645083
I hope he has the sense not to use nonsense terms in the mechanics at the least.

Only the names of the mortasheen are fake words really. The nonsense terms is more of a awful hospital thing.
What do you guys think of the new Malignus?
>>49646238
it makes far more sense then the old one.
As out there as the setting and it's science may be, it still makes logical sense within it's own narrative. Malignus' chains did not. How the fuck do they move?

>How the fuck do they move?
This. John said he thinks that to many creatures in mortasheen use "magic" rather than having biological reasons for their powers.

Bogleech has two settings. Noisy Tenant is the one with all the nonsense gibberish (includes Awful Hospital, Burgrr, and the ARG he ran a few Halloweens back). Mortasheen is less eldritch horror, more gross monster pokemon.

Sometimes the two universes are linked together, like with this mortasheen...
so I'm a little out of the loop on Mortahseen, since I'm not a patreon
What's the general rundown of the things that aren't monsters?
>>49646537
You mean the races you can play? I think they are zombies, mutants, borgs, shades, and sectillians(insect humanoids.) There are specific characters on the facebook page, cat powered raygun studios, that is "working on making" the mortasheen book.
>>49646597
I mean for stuff like gameplay and the general world, but this kind of thing, yeah.
>>49646646
He described places in the games, like the flesh forest, zombie sea, crawling forest, and said human colonies existed within mortasheen. Not much about the gameplay though.
>>49645083
wasn't this supposed to come out years ago?
>>49646810
yep.
from what I gathered it was one of those situations where the three man dev team making it underestimated how much work it would take.
thankfully once they realized that they didn't drop, and continue to soldier on.

I followed it way back and even name fagged on their board.
From what was proposed back a year or two ago, what your character is species/race/body-wise isn't important.
You will have a class and a school is what it broke down into.
Said classes and such hadn't been named but schools were basically like colleges you graduated from? Each gave you bonuses to rolls.
Seemed straight forward and simple at the time.
What is the creepiest mortasheen?

It kinda makes sense that the two are linked. I mean, the Noisy Tenant setting is basically an excuse for a completely ridiculously huge multiverse. After all, we know that there's at least one grey zone, plus the colour layers. What if there's a grey continuum, so that there are grey layers, each one being its own "universe", so you'd have our "reality" being one grey zone layer, Mortasheen being another, the Burgrr "reality" being another and so on.
And before you jump on me about it, I'm pretty sure "entire country goes nutso for weird foodstuff" would make it onto the news. Unless that's part of the perception filter...
