Why did Orcs become popular, when Hobgoblins are superior to them in every way?
Hobgoblins more organised, have better armor, more stealthy, live longer, are skilled at breeding subordinate creatures and are smarter.
Now i think i know why Goblin hunter considers Goblinoids, real threats.
Orcs is less letters. Easier 2 write
Normally I would just say Tolkien but due to the fact the entire goblinoid race comes from him... well I will give two other possibilities Warcraft and warhammer.

I read that manga recently and Jesus Christ does that guy have the world's biggest hateboner for goblins.

I really want to see Hobgoblins in it soon.

I can't seem to find any reliable links to it. Can someone help me out?

Goblin hunter is just obsessed.
And people like Orcs because they are good at barbarian stuff. Hobgoblins form armies and clans and tend to hit a midlevel threat range that Drow also hold.
However "Angry Orc Warband" is just a angry orc warband. So they are prime pincushions.

Because what we call hobgoblins, Tolkien called orcs. From there, the mongoloids that made the original versions of d&d made big, dumb goblins into orcs, and since people are illiterate (see >>49614633 for illiteracy in action), they just went with what was called the same name, rather than what actually applied

Hobgoblins are hobs that look goblin-ish. Hobs being small, friendly creatures that help out around the house.
Pic related is what a hobgoblin is actually supposed to be.

Literally "Homie goblins" because "Hob" denotes to home or hearth.
"Hobgoblin" like most terms has had their original definition appropriated. Now the term Means a generally superior and militaristic variant of goblin.
Has anyone here, played a campaign, where Hobgoblins or just goblins in general had any significance?

Do orcs count? I had a post apoc where orcs ended up with the strongest nation force because when the world descends into eternal warfare and madness those are the two things orcs are good at?
They now spend their time being chess piecces for the dragon's Great game.
>>49622081
Did you make the scenario or was someone else the GM?
In a post apoc scenario I don't think the orcs would ever found a nation. They would remain as they are, but would thrive relatively better than most others, because their lifestyle is most suited for post apoc scenarios.
Hobgoblins on the other hand would probably try to expand, to control strategic resources.

This. Uruk, or "high orc" were industrious and organized bastards, if prone to brutalitt and infighting. For all its horrible crimes against the mythos, Shadow of Mordor actually got orcs right
http://tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Hobgoblins
It's speculated but not certain that Hobgoblins were proto-Uruks before Tolkien had developed that word or concept. IIRC the Hobbit very briefly described Hobgoblins as being so large they stopped to wall and their knuckles could brush the ground, like gorillas.

Drawing from Tolkien's works, Hobgoblins or Uruks were larger than a man, ferocious, organized and intelligent. But also prone to infighting and brutality as they jockeyed for authority. Uruk Hai, crafted by Sarumon, did away with this weakness by making them fanatically loyal to him above all, giving them superior stamina (which Uruks already had in much greater proportion than men) and resistance to sunlight.
Think of it in terms elves. The early elves or high elves were insanely strong. Does it not make sense their twisted and broken kin, the original orcs, Uruks, who "descend" from them by being literally corrupted elves would also be strong?
Then as elves weaken and you have the Sylvan, Uruks weaken and you have regular orcs, somewhat the size or smaller than a man, still ferocious and strong, but not nearly as intelligent or powerful as an Uruk
Then you have the goblins, the the most decrepit of the lot, stunted from living underground and eating mushrooms and spiders, half the size and strength of a man and cowardly but teeming in numbers beneath the earth (possibly corrupt dwarves?)
