The Termie kit look fine to me.

Now look at those hideous Howling Banshee and Phoenix Lords resin crap.
>>
In what situation would a Taurox be good?

AV11 makes me shy away from using it as a superior Veteran gunboat and while a CCS would benefit from the amount of fire points it has, they can't issue orders.
>>
>>49613157
No, if you fire your other guns at full BS then you cannot fire your ordinance.

Rate my color scheme. Like I said they'll have the lightning motifs of the white scars only in white instead of red. Models will be horus heresy sons of horus models from some of the squads themselves.
>>
>>49613378
The other version, the one that's fast, could have some uses.

It's fucking sickening. I just want some thicc plastic banshees to decorate my desk, not this resin shit full of bubbles.
>>

We desperately need new Warp Spiders, although the other aspects are resin at least they're nice sculpts.

Warp Spiders and Swooping Hawks are fucking hideous.
>>

9/10, looks good anon. Where will you put the white lightning bolt though? The other shoulder pad is white. Will it just be a black outline?

If you want my honest opinion, I like the blue but I just think there's too much going on. I would get rid of the white hands and feet.

I'm working on cleaning up the Chaos tactics. I updated the "Why Play Chaos Space Marines" and "Difficulties of playing Chaos Space Marines" sections, and cleaned up the Helbrute unit entry.

Hmm. But it's also restricted to Scions only and I'm going full mechVet. Is the normal one just that bad over the Chimera? I'm having real trouble justifying its use when all I want out of it is the extra fire points.

I also hate the Taurox model but always liked its ML variant for some reason

On a related note, is the Chimera Armored Transport from IA1 still legal in 7th? I ask both for the same of its cheaper cost and old fire point rules, but also for the tasty autocannon option.
>>
>>49613378
I can't think of one, I can't see why anyone would want to use it other than just being a cheap transport.

>>49613408
Taurox Prime is pretty neat being BS4, fast and having a second weapon. Being exclusive to Scions is very limiting.

I kinda want a Chimera Prime as a DT for CCS/PCS/Veterans, that'd be great.

In that case I would just stick to the Chimera, it's probably one of the best transports in the game.

As you say, it kind of looks like and armoured car that a commander would use but since it's not a command vehicle it's pretty useless.

Depends, there are two editions of IA1 now. The second edition is the only valid one and if it's rules are different to the codex I would always give the latest published material primacy.

>>

They have them in the fluff, and their inclusion is an easy change that is immensely helpful for letting CSM get close. The Dreadclaw is just too expensive and temperamental; it would be viable if the cargo was much more cost-effective and it didn't eat the occupants.

I would say:
1) Give Chaos "Pariah weapons" out of Horus Heresy 6, alongside "Pariah Plasma:"
Pariah Plasma weapons fire an extra shot beyond their normal profile (so a Pariah Plasma Rifle fires 2 shots at 24", 3 at 12"), but each roll of 1 causes two "Gets Hot" results (meaning you would have to make two armor saves when you roll a 1). Considering you lack good Preferred Enemy bubbles, this makes them a high-risk yet deadlier weapon.
2) Make the assorted "Daemonforge" units about 25 points cheaper each, and replace their Daemonic Possession with Power of the Machine Spirit. Optionally, move them both to the Elites slot so you can use it for stuff besides Termicide.
3) Make Warpsmiths a *lot* cheaper, and optionally give them Daemon, Deep Strike, and Split Fire. Preferably, roll up their assorted "Formation Bonuses" into a list of assorted upgrades they can buy.
4) Remove "Random" from the Possessed; make them able to "control" their list of powers, similar to how Oblits/Mutilators choose theirs but while not being able to use the same consecutive power. Oh, and the powers shouldn't all be variations of "we hit harder in assault" So stuff like Possessed being able to swap places with a nearby enemy unit, have Blessings cast on them on a 2+, etc. Stuff to give them "tactical utility."
5) Repurpose the assorted Cult Marine units.
6) Fix the Chaos-specific Psyker lores. At least remove the weird restrictions around using them ("Can only roll up to half your powers on the chart, but must roll at least once").
7) Allow Chaos Chosen to take 2 Heavy Weapons rather than only 1, so you can use them as a pseudo-Havoc squad similar to how Sternguard occasionally get fielded. Alternately, allow Chosen to take God-specific Daemonic mounts. Can you say Chosen on Juggernauts?
8) Chaos lacks a good "land speeder/attack bike" equivalent. Part of me likes the idea of being able to give the Warpsmith a "Chariot" (some sort of Heretek version of the Admech Abeyant).
>>
>>49614019
that's a good list.

one other thing I'd like too see is cult terminators.
>>
>>49614108
Those would be good admittedly. The list was very much focusing on a "competitive balance" thing though; I figure that Pariah Plasma would be almost as good as mass grav is with a few exceptions (better versus light vehicles/daemons/etc, weaker vs wraithknights or most other stuff due to "less" shots and killing yourself), but it would also let you do stuff like run your Raptors like pseudo-Scourges, or make a convincing case for Ectoplasma Forgefiends (comboed with the point break, tossing down 4 plasma blasts for 150 points would be good. Like, 3rd ed Dark Eldar Ravager good).

Oh, and arguably some sort of "Locator Beacon" equivalent that would be cool. Personally, I like the idea of the Dimensional Key being able to let your Lord kill off models in his own squad to enable units to reroll DS Scatter (so you could have him hiding in a unit of Cultists, sacrificing them to ensure your Terminators are on-target).
>>
Taros 2nd edition has the most up to date rules for Elysians, right?
>>
So I was assembling some finecast Mutilators today and there are a bunch of little holes in the models, that the smaller spikes attached to the sprues are supposed to be plugged into. Except they didn't fit. And there weren't even enough spiky bits for all the holes.

Let me get this straight GW, you design a mediocre slow ass melee unit, give it really derpy faces and poses, mold it with failcast, and you won't even bother to include enough bits to assemble the thing?
>>
>>49613468
How in the actual fuck did 4 small blasts take out 21 models with 5+ invulnerable saves and stealth? Sounds like your opponent was just shit.
>>
>>49613851
Yes.
>>
>>49614403
>Small Blasts
Aren't they flame templates?
>>
>>49614019
That was intended to be a super short, quick, easy way to make CSM a lot more fun and viable on the field.

On a more detailed note, my fandex is focusing on giving options for each god, giving some way to represent the other "legions" (currently using a series of Icons that grant various rules/abilities and are restricted based on alignment or lack thereof), and trying to make sure everything is cost-effective. I'd rather have expensive and effective CSM than just making everything cheap enough to reflect their current lack of effectiveness.

In order to make room for the added flexibility, I'm cutting a lot of superfluous unit entries. All the non-Prince HQ's are rolled into a generic trio of "Champion of Chaos" statlines which can then purchase a specialization similar to the 30k centurions. The cult marines are being removed and having their stuff rolled into the Marks of into Special Issue Wargear, which is being repurposed into the receptacle for Mark specific wargear like Khornate Chain Weapons, Plagued Munitions, Sonic Weaponry, and Inferno Bolts.

They were indeed deathwatch frag cannons. It was glorious, he murdered a chaff unit but only got a 1 inch consolidate. 4 templates, 7 hits a piece, 28 hits, 28 wounds (aquila kill team, rerolled all 1s to wound). I had previously gotten Null Zone off on the unit so it was only a 6++
>>
>>49613776

There is literally no excuse for this still existing.
>>
>>49613075
What could you really add to the vanilla terminator kit? Scrolls, skulls, studs, and more terminator honors?
>>
I say giving CSM free marks and buffing the marks would in itself make CSM massively more powerful.
>>
>>49614564
they could update them and add in things like plasma cannons or whatever like the deathwing versions. plus they could have different poses in general.
>>
>>49614564
quite a lot

The kit's over twelve years old now. And if you compare them side-by-side to the bangle/dangle terminators, you can see how much sculpt/casting quality has changed for the better since.

It also gives them the opportunity to make terminator command squads a thing again.

POTENTIALLY biologically immortal. It's quite often stated in the books that space marines literally don't know how long they can live because no space marine has ever died of old age.

Let me repeat that. No space marine, has ever died of OLD AGE. Only ever battle. They just keep fighting things until something kills them. The current oldest space marine is Dante, who is 1,100~ years old. Again, still hasn't died of old age.

I saved you the trouble of checking the wiki; the fluff is that 'line brethren' - meaning rank-and-file troops, or what counts for that in the Space Marines - get the mindwipe. Officers and command staff would likely get a pass because experience fighting the enemy makes you better at fighting the enemy.

On top of that, repeatedly mindwiping a psyker is asking for bad things to happen.

The Emperor would probably be a little bit of everything anon. Emps was always described as a multi-faceted being who always covered himself in many Glamours. People saw him as whatever they expected, ALWAYS an extremely handsome man of their own race, and wearing shining golden power armour. But when primarchs looked upon him, a great many of them could see through his glamours and just see a simple man who looks exactly like Conan the Barbarian, and wears simple white robes.

To many he was a fatherly figure, to some a lonely hermit. In the past he was a barbarian, a chivalrous knight in golden plate armour, a dragonslayer, and even many scientists. The emperor is all of us, and yet he still isn't. Don't tie him to just a simple personality grid, that simply won't apply well to him.

>>
>>49616795
Yes, and if you are looking to start an army you might as well pick up two of their start collecting boxes if you can get them below MSRP.

You will have your two troops (which will probably want drop pods or rhinos) with the 2x10 Grey Hunters and it will give you 6 Thunderwolf Cavalry which means you will have an extra thunderwolf to throw one of your two Wolf Lords on.

From there all you have to do is toss in some long fangs and maybe some wulfen to have a very decent army that can hold its own.

Heavy Bolters. I love them.
>>
>>49616909
You can't play pure DW without getting tabled turn 1 with nothing on the field.

That said at lower points a DWSF of a LvL 2 Lib with the Foe Smiter in a Command Squad an a Drop Pod Ven dread or a second unit of shooty termies summon from two RW Attack Squads (one with 1-2 Multimelta attak Bikes and a Double Multimelta Landspeeder. The other with an MSU grav biker squad and typhoon speeder) has been great for more casual matchups.
>>
I need some advice

I'm assembling a scout squad for my raven guard, and I don't know what weapons to give them.

I intend to play them as a complement to the assault squads, get some landspeeder storms to carry them around. But while that doesn't happen I'm not sure if I should give them bolters, shotguns or CCW+pistol.

I'm thinking CCW+pistol for now so I can play them in a kill team and have more attacks, but maybe bolters are a better choice for when they have their dedicated transports.

What say you?
>>
>>49616952
>a DWSF of a LvL 2 Lib with the Foe Smiter in a Command Squad an a Drop Pod Ven dread or a second unit of shooty termies summon from two RW Attack Squads (one with 1-2 Multimelta attak Bikes and a Double Multimelta Landspeeder. The other with an MSU grav biker squad and typhoon speeder)

I would face the shit out of that army.

We have two DA players in my meta, one is pure RW cheese with 2+jink and Ap2 across the goddamn board and the other uses the Lions Blade.

They are so boring too play against becasue one wipes you off the table with AP2 spam and the other wins with MSU tac squads winning more objectives than I can ever hope to have.

Pistols and CCW's if you plan on using them as a pure assault unit.
Bolters (or sniper rifles) if they're going to be entirely shooty.
Shotguns if you want them to be able to do both.

I'd be inclined to go for Shotguns, from the way you're describing your plan for them. They can soften up a target, so the Assault Marines take less Overwatch fire, then still charge in alongside them to help drown the enemy in attacks.
>>
>>49615927
>what book is that?

>>49616991
>We have two DA players in my meta, one is pure RW cheese with 2+jink and Ap2 across the goddamn board and the other uses the Lions Blade.

Yeah I started with pure RW and can field 3k of RW without batting an eye[/spoilter but found them way too oppressive against some of the best guys that regularly show up at my shop with BA, CSM, DE and Orks.

My 1500pt DW/RW List has been infintely more fun for games against all of them and the only Sisters player I have ever met.
>>
>>49614720

Oh, they're sweet. Also since Deathwatch can take shotguns along with their bolters, and since the shotguns have a template weapon, any unit that charges your guys is going to get obliterated.

>Idea for a Tzeentch Warband
Around M37 a company of marines was on their way to defend a world from the threat of the month, when some weird stuff happened with their warp travel. They get stuck in the warp a long time, but they lose track of the time, nobody seems to age much including the human crew. The marines and the humans start to hear things from the warp, a whisper revealing the secrets of the universe...

Fast forward to M41 when they finally arrive at their destination, land and prepare to defend the planet. Eventually the PDF works up the nerve to ask what they are doing there. Turns out the chapter they belonged to died out completely in M39.

So without much else to do they start asking around about their experiences in the warp. That goes about as well as you'd expect. Now they are on the run from Imperium forces while also trying to negotiate with inquisitors and other political contacts. When they show up on a world, it is hard to know who exactly they are fighting for. The Inquisition? The Imperium? Themselves? The daemons pulling the strings? They are a wildcard, and a dangerous one at that. Either way, it is all part of *someone's* plan.

Unsure whether CSM or Loyalist rules would be more appropriate. Tempted to use CSM becaues it is the rulebook I have, but Loyalist rules are both better and seem to fit the story more.

I don't usually break out my full RW lately though.
My last few games have been with DW/RW and soon I will have the transports for my tacticals so I can run a fluffy DA Conclave list someone posted a week or two ago.

nonone has doubted that chaos physically corrupt tyranids like it could a dog or a tree. But you'll never have tyraninds worshiping the chaos gods. those intelligent enough to be capable are synapse craatures and permantly linked too the hivemind.
>>
>>49617208
>That's because the Hivemind literally is the combination of Tyranid minds, you idiot.

So what? The Genestealer cult represents a portion of the hivemind. In this case it was corrupted and put to the service of Chaos. Thus spawned corrupted hybrids and genestealers. You are not refuting anything.

>Killing a Hiveship and using its dead corpse as a transport boat is not corrupting Tyranids with Chaos.

Killing it? Who says anything about killing it? They tainted the Ship and enslaved it. Hiveships are massive deposits of Hivemind power and it was corrupted anyways and put to service like anything else.

Tyranids are confirmed prey to Chaos. Less desirable prey but still prey.
>>
>>49617186
It is a solid plan, trust me.

No one will be able to fuck with your TWC.

I use the Start Collecting formation in my Super Friends list, it works that good.

Any SW within 12" of the Wolf Lord from that formation can Run instead of Shoot but still Charge which is just 2fast4u.

Give all the TWC Stormshields and either Powerfists or Thunderhammers with a couple MAYBE having a claw and they will absolutely ruin any ones day.

You may lose the T1 Charge when switching to a SW CAD but they are very durable, especially if you put a Lib on bike that gives them invisibility or that cheesy Librarius power that lets you reroll saves.

The Grey Hunters excel in drop pods because the Space Wolves realized that 2 Spec Weps are better than 1 Spec Wep and 1 Heavy Wep.

Putting them in a drop pod with a combi-seargent can be huge, usually seen with Melta so they can penetrate enemy lines and take out a piece of armor and then go and hold an objective.

Iron Warriors don't even have the capability to do this, they don't worship the Chaos gods, they're not Daemons, they're just traitors that happen to be in the Eye of Terror.

A lone Hiveship with no Norn Queen and which has the synapse onboard killed is also no more a "massive deposit of Hivemind power" than a single Warrior. It's just one living creature with one brain at that point, despite being a really big one.

>The stolen planet was not the only legacy of Rakarth’s grand ambition. The rending of the veil had left a gaping wound in reality, and a large spar of the webway had been opened to the realm of terrors that mankind calls the Warp. Saim-Hann was reeling in the face of a large-scale daemonic invasion that was spilling through the rift, and the tendril of Hive Fleet Leviathan, denied the power of its planetary feast, was being slowly torn apart by the hellspawned host that appeared within its bio-ships.

-Haemonculus Coven Codex

--------------------

>AGAINST THE SWARM

>Led by packs of snarling Warp Talons, the Harvest audaciously tore their way through the Immaterium and straight into the seething innards of a Tyranid hive ship.

>Spilling into the guts of the mega-beast, the Harvest set about slaughtering the writhing creature from the inside out. Though it sent showers of acid and swarms of weapon beasts against them, the hive ship could not purge its tormentors. Carving a path through the fleshy walls and pulsing viscera that confronted them, the Harvest slew the enormous beast in the name of Khorne, before digging in to resist the inevitable counter-attack. Sure enough, Tyranid bio-craft soon latched onto the hide of their shoal-mate, spewing swarm after swarm of horrors into its carcass. Yet the Harvest counter-charged time and again, the body count rising until Daemons tore through the veil to lend their blades to the battle. Finally, the last Tyranid beasts fell, bodies riddled with bolts and brutally sawn apart. Ichor stained and victorious, the last of the Harvest howled Khorne’s praises into the void.

External balance is the worst it's ever been - in earlier editions, you could play a weak codex versus a powerful codex and still have a reasonably even game by steering away from the most OP units. Now, a lot of an army's power comes from army-wide special rules, meaning it's a lot harder to do that. It's difficult to create a 'casual' Eldar army because everything has Battle Focus and Bladestorm.

The sheer dominance of shooting is also a huge issue. Melee armies only work if they're able to blob up into giant deathstars, or come loaded with special rules that let them cheat their way into assault or make individual models so good you only need two to sweep a whole unit. There's no point in bringing regular close combat units like Hormagaunts, Wyches or Assault Marines now.

Why are the chimera's firing ports so retarded

The lasgun arrays are actually incapable of hitting anything on the same level they are that isn't directly in front of them. Otherwise they point uselessly into the air where 99/100 there's nothing for them to shoot at.

They're a pain in the ass to paint too.

Lucky.

My LGS owner tells the wargaming dudes that we have an obligation to build and supply terrain since we play games there.

He constantly tries to guilt-trip us into doing it. Saying stuff like "I provide you with a place to play. The least you could to is supply and build terrain"

I'd probably do it anyway, if it weren't for the constant badgering.
>>
>>49619354

Yeah, because it's not like there's real parasitic organisms that do really similar shit.
>>
>>49619434

Yer basically autistically reeeing about calling it Codex:Bestiality when it comes down to it.
>>
>>49619536
>I'd do it if he didn't ask me to
Why don't you ungrateful faggots just make some terrain so that he doesn't have to harass you?
>>
>>49619697

I dunno man, he sounds like a complete ass.

"Buy stuff and leave it here please!"
>>
>>49619697
They already buy his shit; he has no reason to expect fucking free labor.
>>
My great aunt asked me where I send the models when I'm finished building them.

A bit of confusion later and I find out she thinks 40k is about signing up to have plastic kits sent to you for free to build and then immediately return to the company.
>>
>>49619734
Do you actually paint your models?

Outsiders could be forgiven for thinking you are just building them for fun and then getting rid of them if all they see is you building a gray tide of unfinished products.
>>
>>49619851

She hasn't even seen my models, just started a weird, awkward conversation at a family gathering.

I assume she must have asked someone what my interests were beforehand or something.

>>49619626
Naa, I'm saying you dont have to cry magical realm every time reproduction is mentioned, because you are a massive manchild

>Just use Marine armor to build power armored humans

>tfw did this ONCE
>tfw knew all throughout the build and when the mini was done that it looked like shit
>tfw "so is that guy a Librarian?" every fucking game
>>
Geney Cult on Battlescribe yet?
>>
>>49619908

How the fuck would you even tell the difference between a power armoured human and a power armoured marine? He's one foot shorter?
>>
>>49619891
>calls it codex bestiality
>dosent see how this is claiming magical realm
wow, you the make people as stupid as you, or did your parent have to save up for a special custom job?
>>
>>49619936
This, i gotta know
>>
>>49619936
Marine patterns of power armor are designed uniquely for Marines. Normal humans don't get anything that looks vaguely like it.

See >>49616346 and SoB for what human power armor typically looks like.

You can get away with some Marine torsos (aside from the ones with Astartes iconography ie. all of them) but their flared greaves in particular are something I've never seen outside of Marine patterns of armor.

Nothing but the shoulderpads.

And even then,

>So is that a Cataphractii librarian?
>>
>>49619961
except, you know, you are talking shit since SM are literally IG in armor. Model scale is really fucked up
>>
>>49620000
I'm aware that the scaling is shit. The scale isn't the problem, it's that everyone knows what Marines look like and their power armor, as power armor goes, is fairly unique in appearance.
If you build an Inquisitor out of Marine bits and stick a poncey hat on him, people will assume he's just a fancy Marine which is why all my power armored Inquisitors are converted Canonesses

how can i post the link to the traitor's hate pdf? 4chan says i'm spam and I don't get the point in FAQs

>>49615625
I thought you can only run one per detachment.

Good taste. Inquisitrixes a best.

Personally, I'd say FW should do a terminator update. Specifically heresy-era Indomitus terminators. No cruxes or aquilas.

What did you do to get the gun to look like that? I might wanna paint up some of my autoguns similarly
>>
>>49620502
add that same white on the armor to the main part of the stock/center of the gun to make it pop more, but otherwise pretty good my dude
>>
>>49620556
Looks like basecoated grey with something like Nuln Oil for a wash.
>>
>>49620502
Not bad, not bad at all.

And damn those autoguns would look good if they had yellow/black hazard stripes.
>>
>>49620556
>>49620617
I assume that was meant for >>49620502

But yea, just basecoated P3 coal black and nuln oil wash so far
>>
>>49620639
I actually planned to do this with all the heavy weaps/mining weapons like mining lasers, rock saws e.t.c. (be easier to pick out of a squad too)
Would probably want to kill myself if i did it to every autogun
>>
>>49619931
A dude on SomethingAwful punched one up that's pretty much done. Don't know if the "official" BS repository picked it up. I'm'a tell him to submit it.

>yellow/black hazard stripes.
