Friends are inviting me over to play this. Is it any good or should I just stay home and watch jojo?

Go over to your friends' and play it. Try socializing a bit.
And it's HeroQuest 2.0, so it's pretty decent.

It's pretty neat, but the Overlord can get pretty hard to beat if he just stacks cards for the first half of an encounter.

Do you like dungeon crawls?
Do you like random dice?
Do you like your friends?
If you answered 'no' to one of these, you should probably stay home and watch JoJo.

This. Played with friends but our one friend decided to be a dick on our very first game and slaughtered us on the first fight.
It wasn't even fun and we haven't played it since.

I wanted a grindy dungeon crawl, but it is in fact a racing game where both sides ignore each other while rushing to objectives. It's shit.
Then again, you might like that.

Late to the thread but I used this to introduce my kids (13, 10, 10 at the time) to roleplaying. So I played Overlord more like a gm (keeping things challenging but not really looking to win)? Went over very well.
I'm basing my opinion on that experience but I think the game is a lot of fun. There's an asshole who can ruin any game so if one of your friends is just such a person, beware.

Go and play, matey.

The next episode is I am an alien part 2. I think we can postpone a board game once or twice.
If your group doesn't care for the overlord, you can always just give the overlord app a shot and make it into a 100% cooperative game.

And? It is not like the heroes stand up the next turn.
