The trick to Brago is to solitaire playtest a fuckload and learn to resolve triggers very quickly. If you don't, your opponents will wish for death.

I like your current list, seems fun to play against. My biggest regret is that it isn't easy to play against other anon's, especially since I sold out of MTGO. I haven't played long term plans before, does it work nicely or is the exile ten a big deal?
>>
>>49591907
Thanks man. I think you're referring to diminishing returns though. Long term plans tutors for a card and puts it third from the top of my library. I've only been gold-fishing and theory crafting so far so I haven't been able to play test it for real yet. In theory, it's an excellent card. Works well with top, library, scroll rack, and brainstorm. Should help me get combo pieces or whatever utility I may need at the time.
>>
>>49592001
Oh yeah sorry diminishing returns is the one. Dead tired been through airports all day. Might order a copy when I get home and give it a test, thanks. Hope your deck works out

My previous experience with EDH are pretty much limited with playing with people's spare/extra decks. I'm looking in getting my own shitty meme with pic related. Landbase not added because that's my last step and also dependent on how heavy each colour will be. I feel like I even with this guy just went with "everyone looking vaguely synergestic" from what I have.

To be fair he is in UR and has no way to deal with enchantments other than countering them or chaos warp.

He can bounce+wheel any of those, but you are right, he isn't even running chaos warp. Pongify is also pretty good spot removal.

Try to find room for one of those foil anon. Personally I would cut one of your counterspells, since they fulfill largely the same purpose.

Predatory Focus.

>Ulrich
I am not impressed by him, have you had success using him?

>Akoum Hellkite
Bad. Really really bad. I get that you're going to double down on the landfall trigger, but it just wont be worth it.

>Conduit of Ruin
Again, or what purpose? To get you 2 cheaper on your creatures and tutor one of your eldrazi? Might as well throw in Thran Dynamo or Worn Powerstone. Even Fyndhorn Elder seems like a better option. You could always just tutor them up with any of the various cheap tutors.

>Worldbreaker
Newlamog is strictly better, and I think you can pick one up for like $13 bucks? Even Bane of Bala Ged might be a better option unless you're using it for MLD, and but still it's just not better than Deus of Calamity.

>Horn of Greed
Now that's spicy, holy shit. With a basic land ramp subtheme you could do some hilarious stuff.

I'd cut:
>Gruul Turf
>Looming Spires
>Worldbreaker
>Akoum Hellkite

You're running some neat things my man, but outside of urborg/cryptghast and few your rocks, how do you plan on ramping hard enough to use some of your things? I find b/w is notoriously slow most of the time, and I was running Ayli with a full suite of tutors with top.

>>

>how do you plan on ramping hard enough to use some of your things?
I'm honestly not sure. I think what I hope to do is stall the early-game with removal and Karlov. Playing in a fairly casual meta probably helps. I'd love something like Land Tax for the deck, but it's currently a bit out of my price range. Probably got some tweeking to do after the first few games in either case.
Anything else I should think of?

>my meta has few exile-board wipes, so getting him back again and again is a huge plus
But really anon, if you're hardcasting something that's 7 mana again and again, you might as well just wait and drop blightsteel to win the game. He's neat, don't get me wrong, and if you have one you might as well use it, I just think it has really niche utility because it only exiles one thing. You could run all sorts of MLD wipes for that much mana, particularly the ones with "destroy" in there if you get OG Ulamog out and things could be pretty spicy.

>It's for potentially killing 2 of my opponents best threats. The deathtouch is the important thing there.
I think you have better options for removal. Fall of the Hammer is 1R target creature deals damage equal to it's power to another target creature. You could even swap it out for Enlarge or Armed and Dangerous for basically the same effect. Bow of Nylea is also good for the force-block-deathtouch kind of shenanigans.

As for creatures, I like Urabrask in Gruul, but he requires protection or he will be removed quickly.

>>49594253
Sure, I'll take a look in a second here.

>>49594193
Honestly, unless you're running 10 pieces of ramp, you'll get frustrated with a durdle-first strategy. I know I did. If you want to speed things up, you could go re-animator as a backup plan? What I'm struggling with is it seems like you have a lot of good things, but other stuff like Hex just doesn't thrill me like it should.

Maybe you could slap in a few tutors, some things like Dark Ritual and Cabal Ritual too to speed things up?

Also, have you considered Sunbond? And tree of perdition is exceptionally spicy with whip of erebos.
>>
>>49594336
It's well known that Magic's creation cycle works around two years in advance, maybe more by now. Source:
http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/latest-developments/fight-future-2014-12-12

It's in the first paragraph of the "Reacting to Real-World Results" section.

Frankly it's a miracle that the market research on expeditions got in quickly enough to commission art for the Inventions.
>>
>>49594247
I think it was the last State of Design that MaRo said they're less likely to change up mechanics between sets (in a single block) based on feedback from BFZ

I dunno if that's enough time to make it into KLD though
>>
>>49593561
I think you need more haste enablers and more ways to double up Hazezon's etb. Strionic Resonator is a good add because you can copy the etb then copy the delated trigger at the next upkeep too. The revilliark/karmic guide combo with a free sac outlet like ashnods is infinite.

I'll post my list for you to look at if you're interested.

http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/sandbox-3/
>>
>>49594051
Horn of greed only draws off of land drops, not land etbs.
>>
>>49594382
>Frankly it's a miracle that the market research on expeditions got in quickly enough to commission art for the Inventions.
I think they had the masterpieces planned for a while.

What I'm more surprised about is that Hangarback Walker got a masterpiece. That card was printed only a year before KLD. It lit Standard on fire for a few months, but did they know it would be a powerhouse when they first printed it in ORI?
>>
>>49594253
>crystal vein
Oh, I like this. It's going straight into Mazirek.

>Dakmor Salvage
Glad to see this is in there.

>Crawling Sensation
I don't really like this card. It seems low-impact and in general I'm not a fan of the whole self-mill thing.

> Fork in the Road, Animist's Awakening, Nissa's Pilgrimage, Nissa's Renewal
I don't really like your ramp package. I do like harrow, but I'd run things like Primal Bounty, Far Wanderings, Peregrination (though that's more of a pet card in tricolour decks), Explosive Vegetation, Rampant Growth, sakura tribe elder, and similar things.

> Life/Death
I don't like this. It's too low impact, unless you're planning on swinging with your lands.

>Your creatures
Are you running these as specific support to Gitrog? They seem... lackluster in my opinion. I like the big stupid demons, but that might not be your style. Mazirek would also be amazing in this deck.

Maybe think of a few edicts to help control your opponent's board? I always like Deathreap ritual and Phyrexian altar in these decks. I do have a standard black draw package if you find yours is a little lackluster.
>>
>>49594470
Maybe, I mean the gearhulks also got a masterpiece invention version. So it looks like they know what they're doing to some degree.
>>
>>49594470

>did they know this card they printed that makes tokens when it dies and grows itself would be good

Yes

The days of accidentally making broken cards are gone, every good card was pushed to be good
>>
>>49594470
WotC has a pretty good grip on what will be the best or impact standard, albeit 12 hour changes (Siege Rhino) or oversights.

Even though they claim they don't look at modern at all they clearly orchestrated Eldrazi winter with the MM2 reprints and the low cmc Eldrazi in Gatewatch.
>>
>>49594501
Almost forgot, I don't really like Satyr Wayfinder, grisly salvage, and grapple with the past. Cards are going to wind up in your yard through the course of playing. Deadbridge chant is good, so is buried alive and entomb, but the lower impact ones always seem really good, until you realize that the slot would probably be better used for some actual ramp, or a tutor or something.

But that's more personal preference, things seem pretty solid. How does your deck do in your meta?
>>
>>49594086
Maybe this works a little better in my deck because it's more focused on drain, but I've found Wound Reflection to be a killer.
Also, Archangel of Thune.
>>
>>49594501
Self-milling basically enables some nice card draw with Gitrog. It also prepares for Splendid reclamation+big landfall triggers.

> Fork in the Road, Animist's Awakening, Nissa's Pilgrimage, Nissa's Renewal
Well, Fork in the Road has the perk to put one land into my graveyard, which is essentially a draw and preparation for Splendid Reclamation.
The two forests which go in hand from Nissa's Pilgrimage are either easy to play through Gitrog himself or can be useful for retrace effects.

>Life/Death
It's a good alternative to get the frog back. Haven't swung with it yet, but it is an option.

>Creatures
Most of them have their reason, but I might take out some of the mana generators, they don't fit too well most of the time.
>>
Would a gitrog monster landfuck deck work? Completely based on effects that ramp him out, dismantle opponents mana base, and clobber them to death while they're trying to recover

Should I make Brago, Queen Marchesa or Shu Yun?
>>
>>49594678
No.
>>
>>49594619
If you're using it to bring back the frog, why not Animate Dead, or Victimize so you can double down? Whip of Erebos and Nim Deathmantel are good options.

In terms of mana producers, I always divide my deck into sections. I have 8-10 draw cards, 8-10 things that will ramp or make mana, and fill in the rest around it. I prioritize things that put multiple basics onto the battlefield, then things that generate multiple mana on a fast curve, followed by things that fish basics onto the battlefield tapped, and rocks that fix your colours. Dorks are usually a last-resort option because they're easy to remove and can't be used the turn they hit the field.

As for your creatures, I've never really built gitrog so I'm not too sure how to spice things up for you, but Archfiend of Depravity is my favorite card, and I'm a big fan of Sidisi, Undead Viser, and Deathrite Shaman. Ob Nixilis, the Fallen is pretty spicy, and unlike the previous anon, I think Worldbreaker would fit well in your deck. Herald of Leshrac is also pretty fancy.
>>
>>49594677
How are you exactly going to destroy your opponent's lands in BG?
Besides, you can do much better things with him than just beat face. He's obviously efficient in combo builds, but nothing special if you want to beat face, since Jarad or Mazirek are far better for that in colours.
>>
>>49594367
Thanks man, added most of your suggestions to maybe board for now. Will probably add them if I get the oppurtunity.

Archfiend of Depravity sounds cool, but doesn't fit with Gitrog, since they both wanna stay on the battlefield, leaving nothing for others who want the same.

Grim Flayer is easily a 4/4 trampler which can draw a card or prepare your next mill/draw
Groundskeeper is very neat mid game
Ishkanah is one of two creatures with reach
Nyx Weaver not only mills for more draw, but can also get me a card, even at high cost
Terravore can be insane
Undergrowth Champion is similiar
Woodland Bellower looks for some of these, mainly Grim Flayer, Nyx Weaver and Reclamation Sage who's in as removal.
>>
>>49594713
B-but I want to have fun
>>
>>49594865
I think you misread Archfiend. He only makes your opponents sacrifice things, you can have as many creatures as you want. He basically reads: "At your opponent's end step, they can only have 2 creatures."

I'd put the new Kozilek at the helm. His abilities are far more relevant, and since you dump your hand so fast, he usually nets you more cards than the old one.

You could also try things like Soul of New Phyrexian, Bane of Bala Ged, Wurmcoil Engine, Colossus of Akrosa, and Steel Hellkite.

I also run Omen Machine in my Kozi just because I love top decking drops that make the board state go haywire.

Here's my Kozi build. I need to update it I a bit, but this is what it was a few months ago.

Hah yeah, I made this deck 3-4 years before Nekusar came out. I realize it's just a bad nekusar without black.

And I know I made it to be non-competetive, if I wanted to make it stronger I'd take out most of the cards and just put in removal / cantrips and curiosity, ophidian eye etc. But that's not fun. I do have most of the cards mentioned (Chaos Warp, Pongify, etc) available, I just haven't had a need for them.

Just think of it as a really pimped out 75% EDH deck. Honestly, with all the draw and ramp in my deck, Capsize and Cyclonic Rift are usually enough to handle the cards mentioned above. I should probably put in Chaos Warp though, got a commander's arsenal one.

The fuck is wrong with you. Also, those cards don't exist in foil.

>>49595796

That's not how you use "insofar as"

If something is good "insofar as" X, then X is why that thing is good, you listed his primary disadvantage
>>
>>49596133
"Insofar as" means "to the extent that". What I'm saying is that 8.5 Tails is solid to the extent that any monowhite general can be "solid" in EDH. But this is irrelevant to the point.
>>
>>49595915
I'm aware. But the mana does turn colorless to enable sneaky activations of Mirrorpool
>>
>>49595940

The thing about tax effects is that they cause you to think short term

Let's say you have 7 mana, swords to Plowshares, path to exile, and a 4 mana commander you want to cast, and there are 3 creatures on the board your opponents control that you would like to kill, one of which is grand arbiter

Maybe, if you were thinking long term, you'd exile the other two creatures and leave the arbiter so that your other opponents can be taxed by jinx but if you don't use removal on him first, you won't get to play your commander this turn, mana will go to waste, and you may fall behind

People like to be mana efficient and you can't always do that if you're letting stuff like grand arbiter live

I think if you play him you have to accept that he's a major removal priority because he slows down everything else people want to do including removing each other's stuff, by playing him you prevent your opponents from killing each other as effectively as they might have and cause them to focus on you
>>
>>49595940
The problem is that people don't like not being able to play their spells, and they don't like not being able to interact with another player's board. If you're playing GAAIV, you turn off your ability to politics with people because you can't "turn him off" so that they can do the things they want to. So it's much easier to focus you off the board so that they can do the things they want.

This is something that always bothers me about pure control players, you build your entire deck around getting to say "no" and making it harder for your opponents to win, yet you don't understand why they get mad when you do.

I mean douse + blind seer works, hydroblast works, but ultimately his ability isn't even all that compatible with most color hate stuff, like if you cast hibernation, you would a shitload of extra mana floating to actually wipe the nongreen stuff in play, and you'd be better off with evac or cyc rift at that point

We're talking about a deck that casts a reusable pinger out of the command zone. The slot that Sharpshooter is in could be a tutor that fetches one of your deathtouch enablers instead and depending on which specific tutor it was you could also get a combo piece if you didn't need to kill things or were ready to go off. Or haste ones. Or ones that are powerful and cost-effective enough to either recast or be worth protecting. None of which described Numot.

My list for EDH playable creatures are:
1. ETB effects or LTB effects
2. Death triggers
3. Self protecting creatures (Hexproof > Shroud > Indestructible)
4. Static effect creatures whose ability matters as soon as they hit the board, like Elesh Norn
5. Activated abilities that don't require tapping
6. Haste creatures on which the haste is worth it, like Aurelia.
7. Tapped abilities.
8. Anything else.

Whenever I need to cut stuff, I go from the bottom up. I much prefer creatures that ETB search land than mana dorks, for example.
This isn't to say I won't play creatures on the lower part of the scale, just that they're more likely to get cut in the end.

It's kinda in that no man's land where it's outclassed by normal reanimates because it's too expensive but also outclassed by mass reanimates because it's not cheaper

Cute in Gitrog but "only good when you have lands to spare" isn't really worth a card slot.

Theoretically EDH is the format for cards like this but there are still plenty of circumstances where you happy with your land count or want more.

>>

I have no experience with artifact specialty. What I *can* say, is that being able to tutor anything at all is valuable, and being able to tutor your mana base when you're having unlucky draws is even more valuable. Choice!

what is the most ridiculous card in Kaladesh for edh and why is it Panharmonicon

seems like pretty much every deck with the word "enters the battlefield" on a creature or 4 wants that card

hell even soul sisters karlov benefits from it due to how it and the sisters are worded
>>
>>49601594
That's my thought but I dunno if being weak to more removal is worth it. Context is Karlov and enlightened tutor for the record.
>>
>>49601603
I don't think panharmonicon has a place in most tuned lists tbqh. But it's definitely a fun card for more casual lists. Just four mana is a lot to do nothing on turn 4 or lose the tempo advantage ramp gets you playing it earlier.

>>

>>
So do we have new info on Commander 2016, besides being 4 color?

Do you think they'll make a half competent mana base and fixing, or do you think they'll make heavy use of hybrid mana?
>>
>>49601585
You're running 35 lands and about half the ramp cards are either not ramp (Joiner Adept) or slow/bad (Perilous Forays). Your curve is also too high; you have 8 spells that cost <3, most decks have 2-3 times that number, and 5 is your modal CMC.

Lower the curve with 1-3 mana ramp spells and mana dorks; start with Birds, Cultivate, and Kodama's Reach. Run more cards that actually reward you for being the token deck like Shamanic Revelation, Craterhoof, and Triumph of the Hordes. Maybe cut some recursion, you have an awful lot of it.
>>
>>49601757
I'd bet money at least one of the commanders in each deck will be true 4 color good cards so I'd hope they give us a good mana base to match. But I soubt it. Vivids again maybe with reflecting pool plus maybe some new four color lands for the set.
>>
>>49601608
>Context is Karlov and enlightened tutor
Probably not. I like artifact lands as a Trinket Mage target or in artifact decks like Darevi, but not in random lists.

>>49601787
Pool isn't going to get jammed in all four, but it might make an appearance in notgreen.
>>
>>49601787
4 color lands that take 3-4 life off maybe?
>>
>>49601806
The thought just occurred to me how good being able use the white to search vault of whispers would be tbqh. It'd probably not be worth it in mono white. I guess the issue would be mostly how many more hands that'd let me keep and if I want to spend enlightened searching a black source versus a sword or greaves or something.

>>49601676

>>
>>49601763
I feel stupid. What I'm hearing is that my ramp needs to be lower CMC. Is 35 too few lands? What's the difference between ramp and what I called ramp? A mana dork is just a creature that's a mana producer, right? Why is a mana dork better that what I've chosen? I'm trying to learn.
>>
>>49601893
I can imagine it coming up pretty easily.not often but the situation is clear. Really just a hand with enlightened tutor qnd only white sources. Turn 1 is usually spent preparing for the Karlov drop anyway. Other issue would be competing one drops. If I need (dont know if need is the right word-- in theory it'd make more hands keepable) to use it turn 1 for the vault it means I'm not casting a lifelinker or soul sister. I guess il give it a shot. Opportunity cost is so low like you said.

is AA avacyn any good for a rw commander?

with a sac outlet and a creature you have boardwipe with built in protection at instant speed. blink becomes board protection and can lead to more wipes. conjurer closet to keep boardwiping a threat. basilisk collar for tons of health/deads. running furnace and the expys is easier knowing you can wipe even eldrazis with two of them. seems like tons of fun, you can go voltron or keep my stuff but you dont.
>>
>>49601898
your lack of cards reminded me of first game I of edh I played.

It was down to my Mono red shit verses Simic with Kruphix because no one bothered dealing with me. I had no cards in hand, no creatures and was going to die next turn until I drew a Sudden Impact and hit him for 19 killing him.
>>
>>49601938
She's okay, she just suffers the same problem as every other RW commander.
You'll choke without a hand and do nothing.
>>
>>49601938
She's fine.
>>
>>49601608
The versatility is worth considering though you'd also have to accept the risk that it'll also make your lands more vulnerable. I'd at least test it out since I can definitely imagine cases where color fixing will matter more than grabbing some equipment. If you have some more ways to take advantage of or support artifacts it also becomes better.

35 lands is pretty low; 37-38 is normal. Mana dork usually means a creature that taps for mana like Birds of Paradise. I said that Joiner Adept is not ramp because it doesn't increase the amount of mana you have available like Sakura-Tribe Elder, which finds a land and puts it into play, does. Yavimaya Elder isn't ramp either because the lands go to your hand, bit it does provide a lot of card advantage. The rest of the category is ramp, but most of it is high CMC or slow because you need to make tokens for it to do anything. The best way to speed up that deck is to add more cards you can play in the first few turns that give you more mana/cards to work with in the mid to late game. I mentioned a few in my other post but some other options are Bloomtender, Exploration, Joraga Treespeaker, and the Ravnica signets.

>>49601938
MLD is really the only good way to build Boros and Avacyn suffers from costing 5 instead of 4, which gives your opponents more time to build a board before the Armageddon. I like her in the 99, but you need a reason to run her instead of Boros Charm.

Mycosynth lattice is the obvious include for machine gunning down other people's lands. That probably won't be a good time for anyone except you though. Voltaic construct is another staple. Combined with Karn you can constantly tap and untap mana rocks. Nim deathmantle is also worth mentioning as a way of recurring your artifacts. You use Karn's ability to turn an artifact that's about to go into the graveyard into a creature and then use nim deathmantle's ability to bring it back.

>>

In my experience most games last either a long fucking time or a couple of turns because of some combo. Put in at least 2-3 win cons because your main one might get fucked up by control decks.

I need some clarification on a card interaction.
Reality acid-
>Enchant permanent
Vanishing 3 (This Aura enters the battlefield with three time counters on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a time counter from it. When the last is removed, sacrifice it.)
When Reality Acid leaves the battlefield, enchanted permanent's controller sacrifices it.

Interacting with Brago, King Eternal
>Flying
Whenever Brago, King Eternal deals combat damage to a player, exile any number of target nonland permanents you control, then return those cards to the battlefield under their owner's control.

Since brago can make cards blink, it would trigger Reality Acid's ability to sacrifice the permanent, but what happens to the 3 counters that were applied to the card after blinking? Also when it re-enters the battlefield does it get to chose a new target or does it just sit there?
>>
>>49603639

When an aura enters the battlefield under your control you choose what permanent to attach it to. So you can choose a new target every time, the card doesn't "remember" who it was attached to last time.

The time counters are applied when it enters the battlefield, when the card is exiled by Brago the counters disappear and when it enters again it gets 3 new ones.
>>
>>49603686
>>49603639
Importantly, Reality Acid doesn't actually target when it attaches via methods like Brago blinking it so you can sneak it onto things with hexproof and shroud.

That's what I did, yeah, Kaervek on his own is too high CMC for a commander without any innate protection while being such a massive disruptor. I can guarantee that using him as commander will net you around ~5-10 damage ping in total with him because everyone's gonna set removal aside for the moment he drops.
>>
>>49603719
>>49603686
Huh that's quite interesting. To be honest I'm still rather new to MtG as a whole and I've been playtesting a bunch of Brago brews on TTS without knowing all that much about the mechanics that brago does outside of straight forward allowing ETB effects to trigger again and again
>>
Is Brago basically just straight up better than Roon for a flicker deck?
>>
>>49603912
Brago can chose as many re-enter targets as he wants, but he requires to be able to do battle damage unlike Roon. Also roon gives access to the green card pool while Brago is restricted to white and blue.
>>
>>49603635
You have lovisia coldeyes and regal force on your list twice each. Also Midnight Guard and Presence of Gond is a infinite token combo if you're interested in it. Good luck cutting cards.
>>
>>49603912
They're both pretty good, but Roon gives you green, which has stuff like Thragtusk, Avenger and Terastodon among other great blinking targets. Bad thing with Brago, is that you need to connect with him and usually end up doing nothing if he can't attack or you can't get him out.
Problem with Brago decks so far is the fact that usually they rely too much on commander, but brago is usually just a value machine instead of a required enabler.
