Granted, they didn't sound very good in the trailer, but I'd wager they're just high quality rotor cannons of high calibre. They might shoot projectiles capable of carrying a payload, but I recall autocannons also doing that, but the technology for making said projectiles was lost because the Imperium is kind of retarded.

DoW original - if you like traditional rts I can see why dark vengeance is arguably the best 40k that currently exists.

DoW2 - polarizes the playerbase because reasons. Ultrawide/eyfinity screen support (5760x1080)

SM40k - Best 40k shooter, ultrawide screen support (5760x1080), no multiplayer lobbies only matchmaking kills any viable multiplayer community (only a small group of cheaters remain)

GW 40k themed board games - BFGA is alright, but id argue that the BFG-Leviathan on mobile is better. HH Talisman...., Space Hulk (2nd PC edition) not bad but not good either, clunky wonkiness, SH Ascension better, arguably the best TBS 40k has right now if it wasn't for "Deathwatch Tyranid invasion" on PC which is actually pretty good due to the rpg side of leveling up heroes, their wargear and abilities. No microtrannys

Good 40k shooters have existed for a while. I know /tg/ likes to bash it, but Space Marine was a good game even if the plot was blek.

The real tragedy is that there hasn't been a truly good 40k RTS since DoW over a decade ago, despite 40k being tailor-made for RTS'

Looks good. I don't play 40k at all. I did when I was in middle school, so at least know what is what aside from other games.

I will say I don't like how mindless the combat seems. There are a few other games that did this in the same manner as L4D and so far have almost all sucked. Non stop horde mode shooting gallery gets repetitive, even more so than a Dynasty Warriors spin off.

Got it on steam when it was on sale for 5€.
It's ok, I enjoyed my time with it even though the combat is a little boring.
The only part that sucked is the dreadnought part because it's RNG based and losing the dice roll lock you in the bad ending.

as for a console fag No worries - I got a 60GB PS3 when they first came out, ive onwed over 5 of them at once, they all broke, (well two are left a slim 1st and an 80gb BC), and I have a ps4 which just permanently stays on "standby" the only game I ever bought for it was shadow fall (KZ).

I actually use the PS4 dual shock on the PC every now and then (some games like helldivers support it natively).

But, be prepared to spend at least 600+ to get this game running smoothly. I can see it now, "great premise, but low framerates made me refund" or "Optimize your game nao!".

Seriously though , I don't see a gtx680 (which retailed for about 500$ back 3-4 years ago could run this game near med at 1080p (just 1080p! ouch).

The actual reason is that Multilasers have very large power requirements for the weapons, meaning they're almost exclusively vehicle or turret mounted. When hooked up to a vehicles power plant, they have theoretically infinite ammo for as long as the vehicle has power. However, you run into a serious problem with power consumption when plugging it into a non-vehicle source

EC will forever be haunted by the "bait and switch" criticism by many of the EA backers which I am sure you are aware.

However from where the game was to where it is now I am amazed. Sadly I feel like they used all the PC guyz to basically playtest their game without having to do it in house. Now if EA was free or there were only closed Alphas and Betas then my point would be moot. But there wasn't it was pay to play from the beginning, and that's why the butthurt exists.

I've got 40+ hours in the game, 30 from EA, 10 after the "release code" I have had fun with it, but the 1000 or so player "community" is being toxic at best - just watch the chat after a game is done especially when playing as elder (Balanced!)

These guys are really depending on the console release to pay them selves back I guess (?) and that code will have been fully tested by all the PC players past and present. Hence the butthurt.

Two complaints, one of them is just stupidity

Ass cannon guy has bead on a brood lord, decides not to spool up and start shooting at it and instead aims for these two mooks off to the side, THEN he goes back to the broodlord that is now thoroughly up his ass.

Second, you can observe a steeler flying tackle at the Flamer fag, and in midair he's ignited by it and thrust backwords -- flamers shouldn't and don't propel this forcefully, it was as though you can stagger an enemy before it's attack animation is complete. I have some concerns about that upon seeing it.

The designers in a ton of very high budget games just don't get how to make a weapon seem satisfying to use. It's a complex interplay of sound, animation, particle effects, models and textures, and of course actual effect in gameplay. I hope you're talking about the 2nd one, and even then it was far from perfect. The shot sounded hollow, you didn't get the BOOM you'd want, rather a BANG. Don't know if that makes sense.

SM was better but still not as massive as those we have in the trailer. And I might be wrong, but it seems to me that they muffled the sounds a bit? Some sounds appeared to be heard as if you were inside the helmet, muffled, but I'm probably wrong.
In any case, I'm reallu digging them, and to me, that's all that matters.

I'm not so sure they are actually two stage but that wasn't my point. I'm trying to say that basing our understanding of what a futuristic non existent weapon sounds like based on what our own weapons sound like is pointless, and getting upset that they don't sound the way we would expect in a video game is also pointless.

It's like the guy getting upset that the Assault cannon sounds weaker than the bolter, but that makes sense to me since it's a rotary cannon that probably has more in common with the gun on an A10 than the Storm Bolter, which is basically just a 15mm cannon, but in any event we could assume that neither would sound the way we expect, just as a person in the 1700s would expect a weapon from our times to sound like a musket when they really don't because so much about it is different.
