Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer. A traveler from distant lands, when seeing how Charizard applied the draconic blood that had quite similar effects to noticeably different ways of combat, decided to tag along to further study the bloodrager.

My Butterfry- Rogue. Straight rogue, no archetypes, the poor thing. Barely was any use at the end.
Blaziken: Str based magus, maybe Armorist.
Ludicolo: The Party Bard. Because he's rather silly.
Gardevoir: Incanter with a focus on the Mind sphere. Maybe Mesmerist.
Shedinja: Highly optimised tank- Very well designed, but also nearly worthless.
Rayquaza: Grey Elf Wizard with free 2LA Gish. Or literal air elemental.

I'd play Gardevoir and Lucario. Gardevoir would one of the psychic mages easy or a Psionics class. Probably Psionics.

Lucario would be a Magus or some Psionics class that can use spells well (aura) and fight in combat.

Is there any way to use Dex on damage rolls for Throwing weapons?

I know there is a feat to use Str on attack rolls for Thrown weapons, but not Dex on damage rolls.

My sacred shield paladin.

She was a literal choir girl at the local chapel before it burned down. She became a "missionary" and in the process a paladin. She was super naive, with ridiculous charisma and a perform: sing score in the realm of ridiculous. She would sing songs for the party as they traveled and stuff.

Mechanically, she was all AC and no damage, and took a group of feats and skills that let her give AC to all her allies. Anyone standing within 10' of her basically got between +5 and +10 AC or something, and she could use immediates to interpose herself between an enemy strike and an ally, taking the damage herself.

There was an anon earlier this week that discovered 2hu's name on Myth-Weavers and, after looking through her posts, began obsessing over perceived "purple prose" and "wrong ways to play" and posting evidence of this all over /pfg/. The guy was *obsessed*, like posting as often as he could, and on further inspection 2hu's posts... Weren't actually that bad; the dialogue was a touch robotic, but the non-verbal communication was great and the details were good.

What's the level of optimization in this game? Don't want to walk in with a casual Warder and get utterly wrecked, after all.

So I have been doing some more writing for Book of Woes, the proposed mythic campaign.

I have a few questions to ask /pfg/.

How ok are you with planar travel being essentially non-existent?

How ok are you with getting rid of Good/Evil outsiders all together in favor of just Lawful/Chaotic ones, and having Law vs. Chaos being the main extraplanar chaos rather than Good vs. Evil?

Is mythic in the style where mythic sparks can only be gains by killing other mythic beings/destroying mythic objects cooler than just awakening new mythic sparks?

Is removing most forms of long range teleportation on a PC level something you would be ok with?

Mostly I'm asking because I've always wanted to write an AP and might as well see what people want.

Don't make a whole lot of cute characters myself, and those that are tend to be more grotesquely-cute than anything else.

Cutest was probably the gnome druid-first time out of her sacred grove, very determined to do some good and make the world a better place, but so completely unused to actual civilization that she was always getting confused and at a loss for what to do. I had a lot of fun bullying her.

Let's see... such events include:
Accidentally eating a magic mushroom that caused her deepest fantasies to manifest as semi-solid shadows. In front of the people whose shadows were manifesting.
Accidentally getting dosed with an aphrodisiac magic booster, getting away from the party to "collect herself", and being walked in on in a compromising position. Then she flew into the sticky web walls and got stuck.
Made delirious through a magic trap, and when the sense was slapped back into her the first though was "that was kind of nice..."
Attempting to "save" another party member that was thrown into the other side of a bathhouse without thinking (or her towel), only to splash down in front of a number of men who were staring.
I don't think I need to add this is an ERP game.

Well, that might just be because everyone has more options and isn't fully familiar with what they can or can't do in combat. But yeah, that's pretty much the big selling point for Pathfinder vs. 5e-shitloads of content and customization.

You will never use more than 30% of it, anon, because a lot of it has little use for the vast majority of character concepts, is simply mechanically unviable/shittily written, or will not interest you.
Do not fall for the "piles and piles of content" maymay, just follow the pf general for a week and see where all that "content" actually leads.

Big downside of PF is that Paizo actively works against any signs of mundanes becoming more powerful than they were in core, which is severely unfair. There's a sort of hopelessness in it that you never got in WotC's 3.5, who over time came to realize what the problems were and strove to fix them late into the system's life (these fixes were what Paizo hated most about 3.5). Paizo not only refuses to fix the problems but will undo with errata anything that accidentally alleviates it.

That's essentially it, as well as the fact that a lot of people play it. Its less balanced and less well designed than 5e, but it has a cubic buttload of content, both 1pp and 3pp, and you can build a lot of things even if 75% is bad and trap options

Question: If I would prefer for the Path of War maneuvers to be used almost solely for combat utility and providing more options, but to completely reduce the amount of damage they deal with a strike, would making it so that strikes deal minimum die damage work to reduce the amount of damage? (So instead of adding, for example, 2d6 damage for Bronze Knuckle, it instead adds a flat 2 damage). Then you would roll for extra damage when you get your second attack at +2 (So level 10 for rogues)

A better idea is to just have slightly higher enemy HP up until about level 6, and give an early iterative attack to non-casting non-initiating classes so that they have some way to measure up in at least some circumstances. I said it'd be based on the first four applications I liked sheets I got, so if four deus vult character sheets swooped in before the current players drop theirs, we might end up with the adventures of Living Armor Cybermancers attempting to enslave the Giant Kingdoms.

As far as optimization goes, I have said "You can have whatever you need to make your concept work."

So, if you dropped a casual warder, then looked over at Captain "115 damage in a 1600 radius, no save no anti-magic, while using triple Versatile Performance to get all my skills in the thirties" and said "Can I have another 200 hitpoints and tripled damage and +10 to all skill checks as a feat?" I'd probably say yes.

I will never not reminisce fondly about my first Alchemist. I built him with exactly one thing in mind: grapple and throw everything. And throw he did, from enemies, small buildings, larger buildings, trees, friendly Synthesists, and finally, at the game's conclusion, the Tarrasque. Hello tg, I have a question. Out of the Mad Doctor's Formulary under the graft limbs procedure it has this text.

A friend of mine is interested in DMing. It'll be their first time, and they're thinking of picking up Strange Aeons, since adventure paths are pretty easy to run and they like Lovecraft stuff. I'm thinking of playing an Occultist, since I feel like the slightly unhinged guy strapped down with esoteric magic items fits the flavor, and I could probably replace a rogue for trapfinding and still be semi useful.

Current plan is to get power attack and furious focus, grab a flachion, and go crit fishing. Literally all of my other feats will either be Extra Mental Focus or Extra Focus Power, as needed. Is this relatively viable, or should I change things up? No 3pp, but all Paizo material allowed.

Is there any way to get musket reload down to a free action without being a gunslinger, sticking to Paizo material? Any combination of spells, feats, or anything else.

You really can do just about anything as an Occultist. Just keep in mind that you NEED Int more than anything else. One unique thing is that the Occultist, at level 20, has more spells known than ALL other spontaneous 6/9 casters. Additionally, your spell list is a best-of-the-best of a lot of other spell lists, and your focus powers can let you pick some of the other staples

Are we talking basic Occultist or archetyped Occultist? There are three good archetypes for the Occultist.

The Battle Host loses a few spells and access to the magic circles and stuff in favor of bonus feats, so you can make a decent martial character. Pick Transmutation and Abjuration for your first two implements: you get what amounts to a free Cloak of Resistance and a Belt of Physical Stat that scales as you level. You're a decent gish. Pick utility focus powers to make up for the fact that you don't get as many implements and not

The Talisman Crafter loses two focus powers in exchange for being able to share their spells with their allies and setting down magic circles that hold spells.

The Haunt Collector makes a decent alternative to the Battle Host. You can trade a resonant power for a medium's spirit bonus. You lose out on Aura Sight and a few other of the Occultist's flavor powers, but gain the ability to have an unseen servant that can deliver touch spells, and later gets the ability to fly. It's weird, but you can trade conjuration's useless res. power that only works on Glitterdust for the Champion's buff to attack and damage, which is much better for gishing it up. Plus, you don't lose any implements OR focus powers, meaning that you're just as effective a spellcaster as a basic occultist.

Haunt Collector is a bit of a straight upgrade over the normal Occultist in my opinion. The abilities you trade in are mostly equal in strength, but the ability to trade a bad resonant power for the spirit bonus from a Medium's spirit is pretty damn great.

I would recommend the only resonant power you trade out be Conjuration's, because it is utterly useless. Enchantment and Evocation are close seconds if you want to replace another resonant power. Trade the first resonant power from any of those three for the Champion spirit, and then get the Archmage, Hierophant, or Guardian spirits, because the Marshal and the Trickster don't help you as much.

If you do end up going for the base Occultist: your Focus Powers and Mental Focus can REALLY extend your adventuring stamina. Each focus power is essentially an extra spell known, and every implement grants you a focus power. That ends up being around 17 focus powers and 7 resonant powers at level 20, which isn't a number to sneeze at, because a base Occultist ends up with 49 spells known at level 18. That's around 66 "spells" known effectivel, which is absolutely killer. There are some REALLY GOOD focus powers too, that replicate the effects of spells but better, so you can pick something other than Haste or Flight if you want.

For utility, Conjuration, Divination, and Transmutation are your go-to's. You can pick up any of the others as you wish, but those three will carry you through the early levels.

I want to suggest a houserule to my campaign since we have a PoW, a SoP and a mundane martial in the group.

"Damage Ceiling - players can only deal their level X 20 per round. Damage exceeding that does not register"

Is this a good houserule so that my game doesn't become a dick-measuring contest?

You're effectively talking about nerfing 2/3 of your players to make 1/3 happy, assuming you have a party of 3 and didn't leave anyone out.

Seems like a bad idea to me. Better to allow the mundane martial a chance to reroll as something with a similar power level at this point.

On a whim, I wrote an archetype for the fighter that gives it 4/9 spontaneous int-based casting off of the Witch's spell list, two Occultist implements of your choice, and a scaling weapon. It's compatible with the Lore Warden, Martial Master, AND the Myrmidon, in case you want your fighters to be tier 3, y'know.

I think this is the conundrum with throwing 3pp in a group.

They sometimes trivialize everything else.

And if you increase the challenge, you will fuck over the 1pp players because the former skewed the challenge curve.

And if you throw the shiny +5 sword at the mundane martial, thats still not gonna fix the fact that the warder kills everything in a 30ft radius around himself and the SoP can teleport towards the BBEG and full attack him for 200 damage.

They're fighters with their own 'spell list'.

Anyways, I did a quick one-and-done conversion of the Hexblade from 3.5, almost back to back from the Bladebearer. Both of them probably need a quick editing pass to iron out some stuff. The Hexblade-as-a-fighter-archetype is basically the Child of War but with the Witch spell list and hexes instead of >Eldritch Armor Training you get Evasion but for Fortitude and Will saves
