Is there any bigger meme than organized play in RPGs?
>usually overcrowded as fuck, leading to huge groups
>battles that end up taking forever as a result
>no sense of camaraderie as you jump around games
>random item trading with characters your character doesn't even know and "downtime days" ruin immersion
>the "season" is just a series of adventures that the DMs cannot deviate from or improve on
>full of autists and neckbeards and the occasional '''''quirky''''' girl that acts like an attention whore
Why not just make a group yourself and enjoy some real roleplaying with a consistent, intriguing storyline instead of this mockery?

Some may not have the time for a weekly campaign, others might just want an avenue in which to try out this hobby without any commitment needed. If a person enjoys it they may seek out a more permanent group. I doubt there would be much more unsatisfying than getting people together only for it to fall apart because no one knew what they were doing or enjoyed themselves.

Why indeed? The worst are the people who actually become uber-competitive about it and start developing rankings to show how great their official characters are. Sad.

Just how are this game run FYI?

Was pretty fun back in the 4e days. Then again my FLGS actually had enough tables to keep them to like, 6 people each.
I only went for like a season and a half because I was going to school back then and my schedule changed, but it was pretty neat.
For one of seasons I had a warlord and this other guy had an essentials fighter, he was a bro and we sat at the same table every week and had a fucking blast.

Isn't the idea to have light, low-commitment games for people who can't make a regular commitment or for new people to get an introduction then maybe form proper groups?

Yes, "4e is bad".

4e isn't bad, just boring.

I don't know. Harambe was pretty big there for a while. I think Tabletop Organized Play might be pretty niche in meme standards.

If somethings goal is to be fun, being boring is bad.

Modern D&D as a whole is boring.
It's all about how badly you can cheese the game rather than being all about the adventure.

Wait....
People have attempted to become/ create a competitor dnd league?

You say it like if D&D tournaments were a strange thing.
