If an Oracle wanted to give their Animal Companion the Speak With Master ability and scaling Int of a familiar (with appropriate type change to account for it), what should that cost in terms of feats and features? Is a revelation (in addition to whatever it took to get the animal companion) an acceptable price? A feat? Would you let a player do this?

Mine is "All existing spells/feats are no longer available. If you want something, ask me and we'll homebrew something that fits your character."

For example, anyone who wants healing, gets this.

Touch Range, heal for (1d8+CL)*Level of Spell Slot expended, as a standard action. Breath of Life special included.
Reserve: Touch range, heal for 1*Highest Heal Spell Slot remaining, standard action. Unless combats are back to back or close to it, assume party is at full health between fights.

And Feat for a player's Ward Hex Witch was:
As an immediate action, stagger yourself for the next round to maintain one of your Wards when it would otherwise be removed.
You can maintain one more ward than normal.

One of her other homebrew rules was that stacking wards onto a single target provided +1 AC per extra ward, and that if hit, only one ward would be removed.

>>49528264
It helps me help my players avoid trap feats/spells. They're pretty casual, not into min/maxing themselves, and will generally end up with "Yes, I'm a level 12 bard, who has completely forgotten he can cast spells, and uses a mwk longbow in combat."

I don't generally do that for PbP.
>>
>>49528228
PoW will make the early levels more easily survivable, otherwise whatever you like should be fine.

RotRL is a damn good adventure. I will say, if you're a player, be very wary of dark places. Crypts, asylums, crawlspaces, etc.

How many of you want better Animal Companion archetypes?
>>
>>49527936
Alright, for the Illaoi player... I'm thinking Spheres of Power.

Cone shaped blasts of bludgeoning damage all day. I've already got a sheet of the basic talents and feats needed.

From level one, you can expect to deal a 30 ft cone of 5d6 bludgeoning damage, turning all 1's and 2's into 3s. Later on you can learn dunking and tethering.

Now I need to find which class can give you the necessary amount of talents and any other funzies while not saddling you with wizard HP.

>>
>>49528508
They do. www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/druid/animal-companions/animal-companion-archetypes

They're really not that great. I was thinking of redoing them, and tailor them to the classes that can get animal companions. The basic Animal Companion should be useful for just about anybody, and the archetypes should specialize them for the classes.

I don't hate grappling. I just think it's frustratingly binary and didn't have a place as a focus within the framework of Path of War. It's also more complicated than most combat, and CMB has its own issues.

I did quite like Grappling Blast in 3.5 though, and porting over most things from the original Warlock in some form or other is a large part of this project, on top of the new things I'm writing.

Posted in dead thread because I can't into brain.

A series of events had led to my incredibly naive and good hearted cleric of Desna being the focus of a shitload of suspicion in Rise of the Runelords, how can I best further the suspicion to the point where my character is coup de graced in his sleep?

>Character wants to visit the mayor by himself, but DM asks if anybody else is going with him
>Other characters say sure, and then consider it suspicious when my character tries to tell them he wanted to go alone
>A few hours later find out about a bunch of murders in the town
>There was a note with my characters name
>My characters prized snorkel goes missing and the inn's halfling helper tells the party about it
>My character goes in to his room for 5 minutes to "tidy up" when other party members want to search it for clues, and get suspicious when he leaves with his backpack and the room is perfectly clean and organized
>The window was forced open by somebody on the short and lithe side (which perfectly fits the description of my character).

I'm planning on doing perfectly sensible (to my character) things that the party will no doubt find suspicious, like burning clothes with red stains on (it's jam) and having an unholy book of Lamashtu tucked under the bed/wardrobe wrapped in cloth and his spare holy symbol of Desna with an old bloodstained knife used as a bookmark (he only has one spare symbol, so figured that warding them both with the spare was a good idea. It's hidden so he doesn't feel like it's watching him while he sleeps.)

The suspicion and fuckery feels so good that I'm orchestrating the death of my own character. He is too good, too pure to survive the campaign.

Do your characters have children? Were they ever relevant to the plot in any way, without their relevance being "they died"? Have you ever played multiple characters that all came from the same family?

>Were they ever relevant to the plot in any way, without their relevance being "they died"?

She's a major plot point, in fact I'd go so far as to say she's *the* plot point.

Giving your character kids is amazing for roleplay or simply vetting out good DMs from bad.

They usually don't get to that point (read; most tend to die well before).

>without their relevance being "they died"?
Nope
>Do your characters have children

Murmley Beth, one eyed Inquisitor of Desna in an ongoing Wrath of the Righteous campaign had five children. After the youngest died in an accident, she became overprotective and overbearing and ignored the recruitment in Kenabres to stay at home and smother her children. The eldest one ended up leaving for Kenabres as tensions grew to be a hero, and she followed him there only for the events of book 1 to start.

The eldest absolutely 100% ended up dead and disfigured with half his limbs missing when his corpse was found in the Grey Garrison.

That absolutely 100% fueled her rage enough to have her command an army of paladins int o the Worldwound, take back Drezen and have "saw the horns off of Vorlesh's face" as her main motivation. Incredibly angry one eyed momma bear with a gender-swapped Big Boss for a token now has several hundred divine children at her back.

Twice, kinda. Never actually their own kids.

First time, I played a ghostly character who had to be retired for power reasons; dead for almost 100 years, unearthed by the party, tagging along. Got destroyed, but not before she had commissioned a magic item from a large mage college.

The replacement character was her great-great-great niece, who was a TA at said mage college and was delivering the finished item in order to investigate why her family name (and the name of an honored deceased hero) was being used to commission expensive unique items. She proceeded to get roped into helping stop the Age of Worms and spent a long time really confused by Standard Adventurer Behavior.

The other time, I played a character who had some obscene crafting abilities and Fabricate at-will, and needed to get into a magical art show, so she spent some time ordering materials and got a scroll of Minor Servitor (3.5 spell; permanent animate objects based on volume that also gives sapience). When discussing if it counted as a kid, quoth the DM:
>If you're creating an intelligent war-machine to use as an excuse to enter a contest, I do not believe you can consider yourself a responsible parent.

I'd like to play a PC with kids, but a concept it fit with hasn't come up yet.

>>49528881
Aether Circus is one of the four particularly weird blast shapes. The others are Aether Grasp (pictured), Aether Swarm, and Aether Shield. No previews for the latter two, since they're not fully-written yet.

Slightly slow-going project thanks to its sheer size (going to be something like 30 pages by the end of it, or maybe more, I bet), but I hope to have a preview packet ("invocations" enough to play a decent amount of levels, some pacts written, fluff and chassis written up) ready for public view by the end of the week.

>Allies successfully completing a strategem are how he regains his maneuvers.
>Have the same buffs as the Gambits if successful.
>Rake applies to the Warlord if his Strategem Fails.
>Can apply Strategems to self for half of the benefit (min +1 bonus, 1 maneuver regained).
>Being able to apply multiple strategems to himself and his allies with the same action replaces Dual Boost, though he can only regain up to INT maneuvers in a round.
>Cunning Insight replaces force of personality, adds Intelligence as an insight bonus to Will Saves.
>Cunning Presence grants allies Insight Bonus on Knowledge and Spellcraft checks.
>Insightful Presence grants allies Insight Bonus to Will Saves vs Charm, Compulsion, Illusions, and Sense Motive Checks.
>Chessmaster's Presence allows allies to move half their speed as a free action once each turn, though they must end this movement in a flanking position with an ally.

I made an Alchemist with a familiar that he treated as his daughter this was before Promethean Alchemist. At the very end of the campaign, she got caught in a Wail of the Banshee and was killed. After we won, one of the items we discovered contained a captive devil who offered to raise her for an unspecified promise of later service.

After much internal turmoil, I decided against it, and the devil left, telling me his offer stood. The epilogue for the alchemist involved him trying to find a way to raise her himself.

So in my current game, our party just befriended a mimic. Anyway, it's pretty tame and can talk. It was telling us it was bored of being stuck in a dungeon and wanted to go explore the world, so we agreed to take it along with us (as long as it promised to only eat people we gave it permission to eat). I prefer being the big tough tank that gets the shit beat out of them while protecting the casters, or the guy that needlessly suffers from seeing his family household go up in flames because the DM gets off on suffering.

To put it lightly, I'm a guy that just likes drama, the cheaper and filthier the better.

That's intended; unlike WotC, I'm well aware of the damage deficiencies the warlock had. If you're investing into it fully (both selections and feats), it will be comparable to Aether Blade (an Eldritch-Glaive-alike that gets iteratives like it did in 3.5), Aether Barrage (full-round action for 2 beams, later 3 beams after three steps into it), and the similar ones.

Each of the shapes will have their own strengths and weaknesses, but generally the math works out to about 60% of a CR-appropriate monster per round at any given level, before applying debuffs or damage-boosting effects like the not!Eldritch Essences.

>>49529920
Yeah, the 30 foot limit is still fairly short range. It's within the range of many (or most) dungeon fights, though.

>>49529935
It scales to 15 and then 30 feet rather quickly. Still relatively close range, but enough to hit everything worth hitting most of the time.

Some things to note: Shape clauses are not taken like normal clauses/not!Invocations. You get a choice of two specific ones at level 1 from your pact, then get a new one at every even-numbered level. 11 in total, allowing you to max out two of the shapes, or spread around as you like.

For the shapes, they're intended to function like this:
>1 selection: You get the shape itself.
>2 selections: You get something to boost it a decent amount.
>3 selections: You get something focused on specialists in the shape.
>4 selections: You get something that only specialists want.

There will also be feats that allow two shapes to synergize, like an Aether Claws/Aether Grasp "turn you into a grabby blender" feat.

I hope that this sort of diminishing returns will encourage people to spread around their shape choices some (1-2 in), and probably max one around 8-10. However, if you specialize in one, you'll be able to max it by 6, and at 2 and 4, you get the things to carry it past merely having it.

I don't have a decent image to post with this, so have a fancy gif.

Evening /pfg/, I've come for some advice.

My players will soon be assaulting/sneaking into a dungeon themed after Himalayan temples and castles. I can provide more info on the party/adventure if desired, but suffice it to say that they are hunting down the BBEG of the current adventure, and it needs to be a spectacular final confrontation. But for that, I need a spectacular map/dungeon.

I am looking for anything, from pics to layouts, that would help me design a huge temple structure, preferably the sort built atop and clinging to the side of tremendously fuckhuge mountains. The more Tibetan/Sikh/Hindu the better. Pic related or the Bhutan Tiger Caves look cool, but I can't seem to find even basic map/layouts of either. I also would eagerly accept any tips from more experienced GMs in general dungeon design. I have the inkling of an idea about having the BBEG in a vault or something that requires a key to get in, and his lieutenants each have a piece of it somewhere in the complex.

Any advice/pics/maps would be appreciated.

Should I worry about what kind of weapon I'd use too?

>>49530414

Take Blood Havoc instead of your first level bloodline ability too. You'll need Spell Focus (Evocation), but you'll get another +1 per die, giving you +3 damage per die on any evocation [fire] spell right off the bat.
>>
On a whim, I brewed this up.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1n03OQ5hVah1Tw9L3BNHWSxRxAS4SRhIwZlLoPZxfrn0/edit?usp=sharing

I changed up the ability score progression. Instead of getting +1 to one ability score every 4 levels, you gain one point-buy point every level after your 2nd, which can be used identically to how you would use it during character creation. I'm not sure about the point-buy costs I've made, though. You should still have enough character points by level 20 to hit 24 in a stat, assuming you bought 18 at level 1, and have an additional +2 to another stat of your choice.
>>
>>49530143
Are the shapes gained quickly, or is this like 3.x warlock invocations where getting 4 levels of a shape means that's already 1/3 your total invocations? It's sounding like it's on the fast-gains side though.

In regards to combos, so that would mean stuff like "Circus X lockons within Long Range" from combining it with the 'eldritch spear' version?

Makes me wanna see a tech archetype.

what other shapes are there? We got any Steady-Photon-Belt III Wavecannons in the list? Charged shots? Orbital bombardment? Support versions where you instead apply shapes to friendly buffs and heals? Anchor-Forces? CRAW?

http://pastebin.com/vvuirrea

Grab yourself Destruction and Sculpt Blast, those are what you NEED. Gather Energy is also good. Leap and Tether when you want them. Greater Blast whenever you've got a spare talent (which could be level one depending on your class pick).

Feat wise, pick Energy Specialization first thing. CL is your jam.

If your class pick was not a full caster, Focused Blast Type Group will get you up to full until at least level 11, even if you're picking a half caster.

Improved Energy Leap, and Tether Adept when/if desired.

Classes: Anything that works with Spheres of Power really. Thaumature has some fun sync and CL bloat, though it lacks talents level one.

If you're going for pure blasty blasty, then with a human you can start your career by throwing out 5d4+15 Burning Hands at level 2 (using your two starting feats on Spell Focus (Evocation) and Spell Specialization (Burning Hands)).

That averages out to 27 damage (ref halves). Without the 1 level dip in sorc, you'll still be tossing out 5d4 burning hands, but they won't have any extra damage and will average out to 12 damage.

The average CR2 enemy has 19.4hp. The 1 level dip in sorc would do more damage even if the enemy saves compared to the cleric 2.
>>
>>49530594
I actually forgot to mention I'm coming in at 6th level, which makes me worry if Burning Hands will still be effective considering enemy saves seem to get harder as you progress.
>>
>>49530493
You get 11 shapes, as noted here >>49530143

This is in addition to the clauses (invocations) you get at a current rate of one per level.

Thiiiis anon >>49528619 reposted the list I posted up earlier.

>In regards to combos, so that would mean stuff like "Circus X lockons within Long Range" from combining it with the 'eldritch spear' version?

Potentially. Ideas that come to mind are "when you aether grasp, slash with aether claws in some way" or "you can combine Aether Channel (a not-so-Hideous Blow) with Aether Barrage to hadouken and sword beam." These are planned to be written /after/ everything else is done, though, because they're going to be wonky to balance and I want it functional as a baseline.

>Makes me wanna see a tech archetype.
There'll be an item/crafter-focused archetype reminiscent of the original warlock's odd item subfocus, but nothing for tech in this thing. There'll definitely be one down the line when I get to writing my own tech stuff.

>what other shapes are there
Right now, the following. I've got a large amount and I think that between this and the planned modulations (eldritch essences), I've covered the bases I want to cover.

>Aether Barrage
"Full attack" with your blast. 2 attacks at a baseline, range-ups, and later 3 attacks (at the 3rd step). Turns out, just kinda /giving/ you the extra attacks scales fine.

>Aether Blade
Eldritch Glaive that's activated as a swift action and then used as a weapon instead of a full-round action SLA. Finesseable, can sub Cha for Str as well. Step ups increase reach, add an enhancement bonus, and at the 4th step, let you move as part of creating it.

>Aether Breath
Breath Weapon shape. Cone or Line, decided when you use it. Step-ups turn it to entangling napalm.

>Aether Channel
Not-so-hideous blow. Still working on this one. Nothing concrete to share yet. "Melee channel through weapons"

>Aether Circus
Itano circus/eldritch doom

>Aether Claws
Eldritch Claws. Rend. Enhancement bonus increases, and at 4th step, attack with both claws as a standard action.

>Aether Grasp
grappling blast, as you've seen.

>Aether Rounds
Ranged notsohideous blow. Currently separate because Melee and Ranged need different things and are balanced in different ways. Not mathed and written yet.

>Aether Shield
Reactive blast, still being conceptualized.

>Aether Swarm
Summon a slow-moving "swarm" that runs around to damage people. Concentrate on it to move it further and swap out its current modulation.

Level 6 is even better, since you're going to have Fireball right off the bat.

Without anything other than Spell Focus (Evocation) and Spell Specialization (Fireball), you'll have a 9d6 Fireball (10d6 if you go straight cleric).

Sorc 1/Cleric 5 will be throwing out 9d6+27 (which goes up to 10d6+30 if you take Magical Knack but that's probably not the best use of your magic trait) compared to 10d6 from cleric 6.

That's 58.damage compared to 33 (ref halves).

Average Ref save of a CR6 creature is +6.7. If you've got +5 to your wisdom, then your DC will be minimum 19 at this point. CR6 creatures have an average of 67.7 hp.

I've had a couple; one was my half-elf paladin for a long-dead Jade Regent game. Her daughter had been kidnapped by a (frankly hilariously inept) cult who left a trail she followed to Sandpoint. Cue the AP's plot. She was supposed to have found her little girl alive and well over in PFJapanaland, with the character's own presence there as some kind of cult-prophecy fulfillment.

A current character I have has a 3-year-old who stays home safe and secure while mommy goes out adventuring (and comes home to basically be queen while on downtime; the game's got the kingdom-building rules bolted onto it).
>>
>>49530786
Ah, you are correct. So 9d6 drops to 9d6+18, still a respectable 49 average damage over a decent sized area.
>>
>>49530671
I didn't mean tech as in crafter, I meant as in "fuck yeah micromissiles" and "beams beams everywhere but go whine elsewhere Yamato"

What you're missing on the "breath" is the line getting not just longer (by all means combine the fuck out of it with the 'sniper' shape or something because that moon's being a little bitch) but also wider.

Think the MAPW in SRW games; a lot of the straight line ones are a corridor of death 2 or 3 wide.

Which makes perfect sense when you consider that the beam the size of a fucking mech coming out of a barrel that's already more than five feet wide can't POSSIBLY be thinner than a single fucking 5' square!!!

If you really wanna do a big differentiation between melee and range, then if melee's to get the big damage, ranged should get equal growth of multitargets. Also anything within 15ft by level 6-8 or 30ft by level 15 can be said to be "melee" outright, as it's easily within 'reach' of things, so if 'ranged' it's only 'ranged' in that it's not getting any bonuses from being a melee attack and instead provoking against you instead.

Stuff like Chain is a good idea; you could also have forking (splits into secondaries on hit), which could interact in so many ways with other shapes (cones become two quickly overlapping cones after hitting something but without increasing max range, chain splitting and chaining again, lines that continue on AND bounce off into a new direction, split missiles, etc etc etc....)

What is the size of ammunition compared to a weapon and a weapon compared to the intended wielder?
>Colossal giant trencher wields a Colossal-scaled Maxim Machine Gun
>What item size is the ammo?

>>
>>49530855

>>

It's not good, I makes martials useful and that's bad. Now my animal companion or eidolon can't outclass half the martials.

My DM really likes his big monsters for some fucking reason.

>>49531918

I use an armorist with a CL enhancement on my greatsword so I can scream EXCALIBUR while doing blasts.

It feels quite good.

I have also built several different types of armorists. I love the flexibility.
>>
>>49531894
PoW has a fairly high floor. You can pick whatever and do fine.

Sadly this also means that if someone knows what they're doing, they MELT things. Unless that something is a caster or also using PoW.

>>
>>49531935
>Sadly this also means that if someone knows what they're doing, they MELT things. Unless that something is a caster or also using PoW.
Our party is mostly a thaumaturge who has too much fun with light/dark, my blaster armorist, an investigator, and a brawler who focuses on dirty trick.

So this guy's wizard dies because he thought he could facetank a dragon with spells so he rolled up a really REALLY strong warlord or something.

>My brother.
From another mother.
>>
>>49531950
Eesh. Yeah that sounds like the kind of party that'd get outclassed by an Initiator fairly easily. Those bastards shit damage.
>>
>>49531930
>It's just not really balanced if the party avoids full casters in general.
Pfffhahahahahaha
No. See, there aren't Paizo martials in tier3, none, zero, nada, all martials from Paizo are tier4 or worse, then you have the rest of classes, casters, fullcasters, halfcasters, 1/4th casters, and those are in the great majority tier3 and above. PoW puts Martials in tier3, so yeah, even if the party is Bard, Inquisitor, Oracle, Alchemist, and then one Martial, allowing PoW will only put the Martial at the same level as the rest.
>>
>>49531969
Dude.

Tiers aren't relevant to this situation. At all.

The issue is that the initiator is shitting damage like he OD'd on fiber, and damage only gets you to tier 4.

Despite what you may believe, it's possible to be tier 3 or 4 and still be overpowered.
>>
>>49531969
2/4 of us are Spherecasters, a skillmonkey, and a combat maneuver brawler.

Having a PoW character makes the party avaerage damage goess of the charts.

>>49531957
Yeah we're level 7 and we do aggregated around 60 damage per turn for the entire party. Now this warlord, i think, does around 130 damage average.

>>
>>49532072
Well we were built bad because the DM's way of easing our three newbies (the PoW guy and I are not) is to pick a character from something we like and emulate it, with tweaks so we fit into his setting.

I went with Saber, as an example. Stuck with it because I like it.
The brawler is the red hair dude from rokka no yuusha, the thaumaturge is from some odd novel with light/dark powers (might be a vidya, I'm not sure), and the investigator took inspiration from some light novel.

So yeah, general power level's pretty weak.

Can someone explain to me why Toughness would be better than Godless Healing? As far as I can tell, the main benefit is that you don't have to expend the move action (which doesn't seem that bad: take the healing outside of combat or just forgo a few attacks in a round. Otherwise, Godless ends up being an extra 1d8 over Toughness. Especially for casters, who don't even make use of BAB. Unless I'm missing something.
>>
>>49532228
Toughness will stop you dying or getting downed, having the potential HP from godless healing doesn't help you until you spend the action to use it.

What's the most efficient way to use a very high STR score in a full attack? Should I stick with two-handing a 15-20/x2 weapon? Go for two of those with Prod. TWF? Maybe go natural attacks instead? Fuck the melee shit and grab an adaptive longbow? I'm just looking to pump out as much damage in a single round to one target as I can since my STR buffs fade quick. I can set up pounce no problem with Primal Fury, by the way.

>>
Thought I'd throw together a 7th level TWF Paladin for shits and giggles, and it turns out that I only average 62 DPR vs AC 20 while using Smite Evil(for comparison, a CR 7 enemy should have about 85 HP). My statline(including magic items) is 10/21/14/10/10/18, I'm using two +2 kukris and my feats are fey foundling, TWF, Weapon Finesse, Deadly Agility and ITWF. Any easy ways to boost the damage further? 1pp preferred(deadly agility is only there because I'm being lazy).
>>
>>49532465
>GMs that allow deadly agility
I'm jealous

Power attack but your Str is 10, maybe piranha strike but it's 3pp. Cat's grace or some spell like that I dunno, Dex builds are fucked beyond repair if you have access to 1pp only unless you're a Magus, but those deal damage mostly based on their spells.
>>
Is there a way to get access to mutagen if you don't have an alchemist in the party without multiclassing? I know there's a couple archetypes too but I'm hoping for a feat or wondrous item or something
>>
>>49532769
Quick math says Piranha Strike would actually drop the average DPR to 58 even if I had the spare feat - my attack bonuses are already comparatively low thanks to TWF and my damage is high, so even at 1-to-2 ratio, trading attack for damage just isn't a good deal. Going for strength-build via prodigious TWF + double slice would net slightly higher average damage, but no way is it worth losing the initiative or reflex save bonuses.

>I'm jealous
Don't be, this is mostly just a thought experiment, not something I'll actually play. There's a lewd game recruiting right now which sparked the interest in putting this together, but I'm not a fan of the GM's fetishes and I'm REALLY not a fan of multiplayer PBP

You don't have bard spells, you have alchemist extracts. Not the same. You're also the single best class in the game at skillmonkeying starting at level 1, especially if you take Empiricist and the Student of Philosophy trait.

Honestly just bring Studied Combat down to first level at a +1 bonus, and have it go up by 1 every odd level, like it always should have been (I seriously think they moved this critical class feature all the way up to 4th JUST to make the chart look less frontloaded). Completely fixed. You do not need more.

This, I want wide lines. Why is a colossal dragon tracing a pencil between two points in hopes of hitting something when his mouth's like three squares wide?

One thing; Aether Pulse seems to be fairly weak: Reflex Half on a mere 5d8 at level 9 for example is blatantly pathetic. The average HP of monsters you'll face is 115, so even a triple-selected aether wrath is averaging less than 1/5th their health, and that assumes nothing has evasion.

However, since that's just flatly an ability, I do believe/hope it is safe to assume that there *will* be plenty of ways to up the damage beyond its base?

Aether Pulse is their equivalent of Eldritch Blast, and scales similarly (if one die up) to it. For single-target Striker modes, its expected average damage floor waffles between about 60% and 70% of a CR-appropriate monster for melee, and about 50% and 60% of one for ranged. For the AoE modes, it's going to be dealing damage roughly equivalent to what someone blasting with spells would do.

There will be ways to boost the damage, yeah. There will also be debuffs and other affects to apply to the Aether Pulses, Meta-SLA feats (Empower/Maximize/Quicken SLA are a thing you can use), and a "hellfire warlock"-like damage booster ACF planned.

However, I'm being careful with how I'm handling damage. The floor is built around at 1.5 to 2-rounding things if you're being a striker, or being decent enough at mook clearing. Optimization and options can push it past that if you focus on being a hardcore Striker.

>>49534464
You can triple it to 15 feet, then increase it to 30 feet trivially.

Getting Studied Combat at level 4 sucks since that's your primary +to-hit bonus. There's no real reason you have to get Studied strike at the same level. Pushing S. Combat to 2nd or 3rd would really ease up on the low level play of inquisitor. Getting S. Strike at 3rd is likely to coordinate with the talent gained at that level.

The talent at first is because Infusion is basically a talent tax. Without it Alchemy is pretty limited. That and Investigators are really starved for feats and talents.

also >>49534716
>>
>>49534653
You basically don't do anything that would be significantly more useful than an Expert with a crossbow in combat until 2nd level extracts and Studied Combat/Strike. Those both happen at 4th level and then suddenly you become a really great contributor - it's just godawful awful design. Studied Combat/Strike even scale proportionate to 1/2 level, so they wouldn't even be out of line power-wise if given at level 1 (if given a minimum bonus of 1).

>You can triple it to 15ft
that's scary short... Shouldn't it rather be moderate range (or maybe "short" as in starts-at-25) but applies multiple hits to several targets in there?

Usually VFs engaging in such a 'circus' are putting at least a handful of micromissiles into each target (1-2 out of 4-8 might hit, or all of them might hit, or maybe none because Maximilian Fucking Jenius can make Battle 7 dodge like that), and the range is quite short, but not actually point-blank.
>>
>>49534271
Paizo also does that thing where they put on the chart class features that are going up by +1 and consider that not a "dead level"
>>
>>49534572
Just to note, If well optimized, 1.5-2-rounding is what the mook clearing should be at its slowest.

1.5 rounding of equal CR is solid for secondary attackers, special effects (heavy on the buffs/debuffs to go with the action types like an animus adept) or small-scale AoE users though. 2-rounds but with space to optimize above and beyond this is a good target.

1st level Studieds or bust; the problem of having nothing useful to do at 1st level still exists with you over-conservative bump down by only 1 or 2 levels. Why not FIX the problem while you try to fix the problem? And it shouldn't get the free alchemy discovery, that's more than an alchemist gets. It's also barely even useful to give Infusions of 1st level extracts to allies, because 1st level extracts are either very weak or rounds/level in duration that your ally still has to eat his own action to use. That's useful LATER in your career, even if you consider it a talent tax. You haven't improved level 1-3 play by any noticable margin by giving a free alchemist discovery that alchemists don't get for free.
>>
>>49534900

>>
>>49534785
>short range
Yeah, well. For that sort of image, there's refluffing Aether Barrage (multi-ray long-range blasts).

The Circus is limited in range because it automatically hits. It's a Magic Missile effect that scales into Eldritch Doom, effectively (which had a similar fluff in 3.5). The aggregate effect of multiples hitting is assumed to be the total damage you deal with it. There might be a longer-range one, but it's proved very hard to balance "autohit" with "roll to hit" stuff.

Presumably it will be longer-range for the mecha-scale version way down the line when I do tech and tech warlocks.

>>
>>49534836
In my opinion, we're rewriting the most bloated part of the games. I honestly like the changes it makes.

There are SOOOOO many feats that are just... bad. Either, in design or power, or both.

Weapon Focus: +1 to hit.

What's the difference between someone who took weapon focus, and someone who rolled a little higher on stats? Well, the guy who rolled a little higher probably has other better stuff, but in the end, Weapon Focus is solely, "my numbers are higher. I'm pretending to be higher level in one area (to hit)."

I like it when literally every feat a player takes gives him new combat options, or makes previously invalid options actually work.

For example, Player wanted Bull Rushing to be viable. So, as one feat, I gave him, no provoke, +2 to CMB for it, deal 1d12+STR damage on it, and push 5 ft for every 2 you won the roll by, increase damage of knocking them into something by 1 per every 1 you won the roll by.

Suddenly, he now has a new options "Huh, this guy in full plate with a shield probably has higher AC than CMD, let's bull rush."

He is noticeably different in combat from someone who did NOT take that feat.

And seriously, there are HUNDREDS of absolutely worthless feats, I mean, when's the last time you saw someone take Careful Reader? Black Marketeer? Ancient Draconic?

>Sorcerer player has been feeling useless all campaign

Maybe I'm missing something, but Clerics (while they seem to be pretty varied in what they can do) don't seem to be able to do much well besides healing unless they take a dip in some other class. Am I wrong?
>>
>>49535628
It's a neat sounding spell. Not good, but neat. The player has different expectations out of how they want to play the sorcerer than the average player here. You should offer a list of useful spells that they can look over and decide if they want any.
>>
>>49535641
Yes, they can do plenty well because of 9th level spells.
>>
>>49535641
It would be hard to be MORE wrong. There are very few things clerics CAN'T do well, it just depends on how you build them.
>>
>>49535641
Clerics have amazing control, save or suc, the ability to cherry pick spells from other classes, honestly amazing domain powers that always get overlooked...

And they'll honestly win a 1v1 melee fight with a fighter, as long as they buff themselves first round.
>>
>>49535641
I mean, healing is actually one of the worst traits of a Cleric, compared to other classes.

It'd be like picking a rogue for going sword and board. Sure, you can, and sure, your class abilities will technically help you. But it's really not optimal.

>3/4ths BAB. Along with their 9th level spellcasting and buff they can easily rival pure martials in terms of damage output.

Why is that shit even 2nd level? Would it even be good as a 1st level?

Like, worst case balance scenario for bumping it down: they pick it at level 1 and use it a lot in a level 1 campaign. It's just a warrior's sword attack minus the strength, the attack bonus, the reusability, the ability to soak an attack in return, the ability to wear armor to take the next attack. And then what does the Staggered condition even change about a level 1 goblin or whatever who starts his turn immediately beside the party's caster? He attacks, one time, like he would have anyway, because he's not level 6.

Paizo please

So what, furry? Are we really on the level of faggotry where kitsune and catgirls are considered furry?

>>49535676
Aren't those purely theoretical because most games will never see the level when they become available?
>>
>Handled a 5th level char
>Everything is already picked...and awfully picked (for example can make 7 AoOs but has nothing to spend them)
>5th level feat slot free for me to choose something
>Don't want to pick Imp Trip because I get that at 6th level for free from my class
What should I pick? Is step up decent?

>BUT IT KILLED THEM!
*Said the mage, as the other targets are voraciously sucking on his cock in a desperate attempt to be the most beloved of his brainwashed new concubines
>>
>>49535461
I agree with everything you say.
However the way most people deal with it is just 'I know which feats are bad and the small chunk which are good, I'll take the good ones', rather than 'welp chuck out ALL THE FEATS and start this from scratch'.
>>
>>49535744
9th level spellcasting not only means that they get 9th level spells, but that they get earlier spells ahead of the curve. Most 9th level spells aren't even that good in comparison to lower level spells, but getting invisibility, haste, etc. a few levels early is huge.
>>
>>49535744
>Aren't those purely theoretical because most games will never see the level when they become available?
My mistake, I meant they were a ninth level caster.

And blame the janitors for the furry stuff.
>>
>>49535641
I was a better Barb than or minmaxed Barb, so go figure. Clerics can be a lot of stuff and fucking good at any of them.
>>
It's fucking Macross' fault that everytime the bard starts inspiring courage a random Walkure song starts playing in my fucking head.

Medium armor.

but delta is shit mate :^)
>>

Fuck you're right. Still medium armor's good enough and you can always go for the Heavy Armor Proficiency meme.

I know, but the songs are great.
>>
>>49535760
Which is why, I again, said this if for my home group which don't know how to do that.

Also, we're completely fine with saying "this feat looks good as is, can I have it?"

And some core feats that everybody takes to make their concepts work were just given for free to everyone who met the prereqs, like TWF, Finesse, Power Attack.
>>
>>49535798
You said that.

>>49535761
Oh, right, forgot about that part. My bad.

BTW I really think clerics shouldn't be allowed to wear armor and use martial weapons. That's what paladins and inquisitors are for, no need to further blur the lines.
>>
>>49535760
Also, I've been playing Pathfinder for enough years, that generally I can homebrew a feat for them faster than they can think of the next sort of feat they'd like. So, it's not like it's much work. Coming up with 3-5 feats for each of four players takes me like, 5 minutes, tops.

>BTW I really think clerics shouldn't be allowed to wear armor and use martial weapons.
Just play an Eclestiurge then...?
>>

>That's what paladins and inquisitors are for, no need to further blur the lines.

And don't forget warpriests.

Is there a 3pp race that would allow me to play as a fairy/pixie? Looking to be at least Tiny and very preferably winged too.

Clerics only have simple weapon proficiency, and the weapon proficiency of their god.

No every god can have Paladins.
>>
>>49535907
I don't mean archetypes and I don't even want to play as a cleric. It's just that when there are paladins, warpriests and inquisitors, clerics also having access to heavy weaponry is just lazy legacy design.

I mean, there's nothing inherently wrong with what you're doing, it's just that you can't really say you're playing 'Pathfinder' anymore, which might be a good thing or a bad thing, but it's a thing.
>>
>>49532851
Like seriously, I asked him if he'd include the stuff from Worlds of Power (some pretty fun archetypes) and Skybourne (some pretty fun EVERYTHINGS), and they were going up THAT NIGHT. Fuck PFSRD, this guy's the future. We just gotta convince him to do a PoW wiki and we're golden, never need Paizo classes again.
>>
>>49538822
What wiki are you talking about? I didn't see anything in the OP, and I'd love something that updates a little faster than the PFSRD.
