In terms of AI performance:

God Tier:
Yang

Good Tier:
Deidre/Morgan/Zakharov

Meh Tier:
Santiago

Shit Tier:
Lal/Miriam
>>
>>49456070
Miriam was most objectively wrong. Clinging to religion in an age when science has relegated God to gaps so tiny that she has to threaten scientists not to seek knowledge of the beginning and end of things (thus showing that her faith was placed in nothing) while simultaneously praising science as "miracles" is the ultimate hypocrisy. She was blinded wholly by her devotion to a figment of the imagination of illiterate, ignorant Bronze Age goat herders.

Call me a fedora-wearing edgelord, but I'm 100% right. There's no reason to believe this shit now in 2016, and for her to use it as an excuse for authoritarianism in the far future is a crime against the human intellect and sense of dignity.

Right? Wrong? Why would an enlightened society have need of such obsolete binary concepts of ethics and morality?

Humanity must transcend such primitive dualism, and pursue the ascetic virtues of unity. Unity in mind and unity of body; the grand singular harmonious truth. Not falsehood, not conflict and antagonism that serves only to splinter our society and jeopardize our prosperity and posterity needlessly and uselessly on an alien planet that dreams of our extinction.

In such a enlightened society, individuality cannot exist as it is the antithesis of such tautological, totalitarian and beautiful unity.
>>

Progress is not measured by daily gain but hacking away at the daily nonessential.

Man will not only live on bread but will live on far less, for it is within man's nature to break his own limitations.
>>
>>49457476
Or you could put that time and energy into labor to build a better world for your children and their children. Why not sweat over the anvil instead of bleeding for a meaningless cause?
>>
Santiago would have been right if she hadn't overlooked the fact that the planet had a magical synapse-fungus that rendered her methods inadequate. deirdre was therefore the most correct in a pure utilitarian sense, because she's the only leader who really wrapped her head around the implications of chiron's ecology. however, that doesnt change the fact that she was a creepy kook and deserved to live out her days in a pain booth for weaponizing mind worms.
>>
>>49457518
Because the best world is that which holds the best people, and the best people will always be ready to bleed.

Yes, remind me how much Lal elevated human dignity when they created genejack slaves.

Regale me how the Intellect of Man as a species was freed when Zarkarov installed AI overlords in his colonies and crafted fucking liquid metal terminators just because it satiated his curiosity and ego mommentarily.

Do tell how Dedrie's obsession with worshiping a mouldering hivemind and plans to reduce humans to the symbiotic herdsmen of psychic maggots elevates the future of the species.

Even Morgan's lust for the ever increasing 'profits' leads him to nerve staple his own workers if they should raise objection to his 'medical experiements'

Labor and industry are unworthy. War is the only thing which makes a man. You would seek prosperity for prosperity's sake; We would seek battle because it defines us, makes us better. No gene-mod, no philosophy, no religion, no technological convenience can raise up a man's character.

Data Angel's were literally just internet shitposting anarchists who could never conceivably develop or control a society let alone an empire

Viking dude was literally just trying to cosplay as a viking in space

Aki Zeta was literally just a University experiment

Cha Dawn was literally just edgier Gaia

Aliens were literally undesired and unnecessary

None of them fit except for Domai who was an exploration into workers Communism, a distinct form of government from Yang's Tyrannical Socialism
>>
>>49462845
Why does Domai loook like Vin Diesel in a wig, wearing lipstick?
>>
>>49462915
because Van Gasoline is a perpetual
>>

Didn't even the Gaians hate the Cult?
>>

And they weren't a cult themselves?

>Alien Crossfire factions were all unnecessary barring Domai's.
indeed

though Data Angels might have been a cool experiment into internet based society with direct democcracy , complete transparency ...basically pirate party stuff but they just destroyed that in favor of some hacking quotes

also the alien races had a really neat idea on how they communicate i kinda liked that but otherwise get that xeno shit out of here
>>
>>49463847
>though Data Angels might have been a cool experiment into internet based society with direct democcracy , complete transparency ..
This is somehow a good idea when you got multiple polities who have the tech and the motivation to shitpost you to a standstill at very little cost.

Which ones were the most wrong?

At least Miriam had the interesting humanism and spirituality in a futurism context storyline.

The Spartans were a philosophical dead end on day 1. They were about being militaristic Isolationists and never advanced more than that.
>>
>>49464087
You can't get worse than Yang, though.
>>
>>49464087

I wish the Spartans weren't so focused on military

Like I love them but they should have gone a different route than full on isolation Full military factions always get the short end of the stick

Fuck Athiesm

Think of all the cultures and people that were killed by communist countries trying to wipe out religious cultures in their borders over some bullshit ideology.

>inb4 that's communism not atheism!
Fuck you
>>
>>49464615
Sadly, they all were killed by the Gaians before they could become something else.
>>

Grow everything, even.

If it was just atheismnot tied to communism, then id be okay with your point.
As it stands, plausible deniability.

Top is most right.

1. Zakharov because science gave us second chance - and science might give us third, fourth and next chances.
2. Deirdre because we shouldn't make some mistakes.
3. Morgan because resources exist to be consumed.
4. Pravin Lal because there is no need to fight against each other.
5. Sheng-ji Yang because he's fucking idiot.
6. Santiago because there's no need for a war anymore.
7. Miriam because there is no god.

I would assume it was oral tradition until someone literate heard it and marked it down.
>>
>>49456070
I'm a little confused, is this a campaign/story centric game where a certain narrative is played out every time (Militaristic faction gets killed by mindworms apparently?) or is it a sandbox game with a set settup that can go anywhere?

No, the truth wears black and red suits.

It's a Civ-Variant. It's just that the factions have more to them than just faces and a frequency at which they launch ICBM.

the middle east is the very first area to have civilizations to have developed writing and the hebrews where known for marking their shit down so no the bible was not an oral tradition.
also if you want to bait about the bible do what other edgefags do and find a quote from the bible, cut it in half to make it sound strange or mean and then spam it.
this is 2008 tier shitposting m8 whats next chuck norris jokes?
>>
>>49465648
No bait, just observing how quickly christfags get buttflustered. Also you need to do some reading yourself if you believe literacy was even close to widespread. Also it starting as an oral tradition is fact.

The Dutch.
The dutch are wrong. All dutch should fucking kill themselfs right now
In fact anyone who's into tabletop gaming shold seriously consider suicide.
>>

Miriam might seem a bit dated but keep in mind the mid 80s to early 90s marked the end of evangelical isolationism in America and saw the establishment of what is now known as the "Christian Right".

Fundamentalist, politically active Christianity was a relatively recent development at the time so Miriam's Believers are an extrapolation from that time period. It's doubtful that her faction would look the same if they were made today in 2016 (if a game like this could even have been made today).

>>49465255
I actually think Alpha Centauri got a lot of things much better than Civ. Aside from faction personalities, the game has political systems that feature actual trade-offs, rather than merely being stepping stones to more "advanced" political systems.

>All dutch should fucking kill themselfs right now

>science gave us second chance
It's also why humanity needed a second chance in the first place. Science is merely the tool, morals are what should actually guide humanity and Zakharov has none. Deirdre, Lal, and Miriam are the only leaders who seem to put some thought into whether or not they should use the bleeding edge technology.

A) This is bullshit
B) I'm pretty sure Yang did not say that and you're just doing a poor imitation that misses the point of Yang. Either way, kindly proceed to recycler pods.

>Progress is not measured by daily gain but hacking away at the daily nonessential.
No matter who said this, there's some truth to it. Actually it's kind of what I do for living. In theory anyway.
>>
>>49467424
Yang is about transcending humanity, probably moreso than any other faction. He sees everything through a broad, dispassionate lens, more a physicalist than even Zakharov.
>>
>>49467424
exploiting everyone for the good of all
>>
>>49468062
Anon yang is the one who's forcing everybody to live in spiraling underground cities, with no privacy or material possession whatsoever and every waking minute in a Human Hive city is carefully monitored, regulated, adjusted and scheduled to maximize productivity from every able bodied citizen. Yang would totally try to force his citizenry to subsist on less and less food, energy and water if it increases productivity and efficiency. If they're at the breaking point of exhaustion and starvation, Yang will just engineer humans who can live in the kind of ascetic virtuous society that he plans to create.
>>
>>49468062
>>49468192
Interestingly his ideas fit well in the Ascent to Transcendence.
>>
>>49468192
Yes. It's a brutal, filthy path of transcendence, but the end result will be a human species unlike anything prior, an alternative route to the creation of a planet-spanning gestalt god.
