I used to run him as a combo centerpiece in a Naya control shell. He's pretty damn good at spot removal, and he only gets better the more he's killed.

Marath has errata that says "(x can't be 0)"
Without it you can activate his ability for 0 infinite times for all sorts of trigger shenanigans.

Gyre sage can get Hella ramp with that guy
