Pathfinder General /pfg/

Friendly reminder to tell us what 3pp your game allows if you need character building help.

Pactmakers are a firmly Dex/Cha class. Why aren't you playing a huli jing pactmaker who drains people's life force from sex AND binds sexy spirits?

What I'm thinking of doing

>increased caster level when channeling Hierophant/Archmage
>Get something like toughness when channeling the Champion (d10 HD I guess?) And the Guardian (enough to put you on the equivalent of a d12 HD.)
>Martial Flexibility, except you pick your feats when you channel a spirit, and youre limited to crafting/metamagic feats when using the Archmage/Hierophant, combat feats when changeling the Guardian/Champion, and some other category of feat when channeling the marshal/trickster.

Anybody else got ideas for it? Should I be a chucklefuck and give it an initiating archetype too?
>>
>>49295799
For Pathfinder: Wildshape works like the spells Beast Shape. So if you turn into a Small animal you get a +2 Dexterity bonus and don't change any other stats (even if you're "shrinking" from Medium to Small), and if you turn into a Medium animal you get a +2 Strength bonus. This is a change from 3.5, where you simply used the animal's attributes (which was fucking busted and is one of the key reason why Druids outclassed Fighters in every possible way).

Well, if you have 3pp available, Warder is a solid class for it. The Stupendous Strength feat also helps a shitload.

1pp, the only way to do it right is the Mobile Bulwark Style feats, and they don't justify the loss of DPR
>>
I'm not sure I'm really getting the point of the Pyschic, or really most aspects of occult classes in general (except occultist, which is actually pretty damn cool and flavorful while also not sucking horse cocks like the kineticist).

>Psychic is just a sorcerer with a bunch of x/day abilities that will mostly go unused, and whose sole usefulness (0-9) psychic spellcasting is usurped by a sorcerer bloodline that can also be usurped by the arcanist to become a 0-9 PREPARED psychic spellcaster

What's the best class/race to play as a maid/butler/servant? One of the other player characters is the filthy rich son of some noble family who is off adventuring for shits and giggles, and I thought it might be fun for my character to be the loyal servant his family sent along to keep an eye on him and help keep him out of trouble.
>>

Look up Gonzo 2.

It has the Battle Butler class.

I'm fairly sure it's in the Trove.
>>
>>49296158
Mesmerist and Summoner actually have usefulness though. A Bard is more of a buffer, while a Mesmerist is solidly a debuffer; having both in the party is exponentially-better than one or the other. A Spiritualist is more balanced, flavorful, and thematic than a Summoner; yes it's weaker, but that's like saying an Inquisitor is weaker than a Cleric.

Warder, for the record, is base Path of War, and only of the only ways to play a heavily armored character effectively.

Stupendous Strength is from DSP as well, and is in their Savage Races monster class book. Or you could just use pic related, since it's a screencap from my copy of the pdf.
>>
>>49296158

I don't like the Psychic, personally

However, the Mesmerist is like the Bard, but instead of buffing your allies, you pile on debuffs on a single target by staring at them so hard they can't attack, can't hit hard, are more susceptible to your spells, and take damage when you hit them.

The Spiritualist has a lot more flavor than the chained summoner, and compares to the unchained summoner in terms of flavor.

The Medium makes a great dip for Martial characters. All you lose is one point of BaB, but you get a +1 to-hit, +3 to damage, and a few other benefits, like exotic weapon proficiency that you can change out every day.

The Kineticist is the only one I agree with you on. It's shit.

The Occultist is the coolest, by far, too. Gestalt a battle host one with a Bladebound/kensai magus and get yourself a sword that wrecks face, a shitton of SLAs, and massive Int synergy
>>
>>49296254

That really depends on how seriously you want to take the character.

Evening /pfg/

I would like to know if I need the feat Two-Weapon Fighting if I want to wear two weapons, but only attack with one each round.

I had an idea for a character that wields a shortspear on one hand and a sword on the other so I can threaten up to 10 ft around me, but I don't actually want two-weapon fighting because I wouldn't actually get much use from it.

The feat's description says it's for attacking with both weapons at the same time, but I am unsure if the normal penalties apply even if I don't actually attack with both weapons at once.

You ONLY take the TWF penalties if you're using them to get more attacks during a full attack.

Even if you use both at the same time in a full attack, if you don't take that extra attack, you don't take the penalties.

>>49296797
Eldritch Archer. Proficiency you'll have to either be human and swallow a feat on, or be half-elf and take Ancestral arms. But after that, it's the best spell-slinger archetype around. Also depending how you interpret the wording, Empty Quiver Flexibility may allow you to deliver spellstrikes through your melee rifle butt attacks
>>
>>49296718
>Would a trident have reach? srd said range 20ft but I guess they meant thrown range.
The special field in the weapons table shows whether it has reach or not. To my knowledge, whip is the only reach weapon that can normally be wielded one-handed.
>>
So my GM is letting me use the Necrologist and Fractured Mind spiritualist archetypes at the same time. What Emotional Power spells would work best for a Necrologist in this case?
>>
>>49296718
Thrown range, yes. Melee is either "adjacent" or "reach" with an additional 5 ft but you can't hit things next to you. The only weapon with reach and not 2-handed is the whip, which sucks for a variety of reasons, like needing a pile of feats to even damage enemies or do tricks that will be quickly outclassed by enemy defenses that scale all out of whack to your skill.

You are completely out of touch with reality.

Eberron, Spelljammer and Planescape are not popular and are not supported by WotC. They're extremely niche and have a cult following for not being generic tolkien clones. Yet most players seem to prefer generic drek like forgotten realms and golarion.
>>
>>49297051

True, falcata and even falchions can do pretty well.

>>49296988
Damage dice are meaningless once you start getting some modifiers, and 2handers get bonuses to those modifiers that one handed weapons don't. Supposedly carrying a shield would make up for it by buffing defense... but it doesn't for a variety of reasons.
>>
>>49296988
For the sake of argument, let's run a couple of numbers. Assuming 18 Str:

The Longsword's average damage (Non-two handed) is 8.5. (4.5 from dice + 4 from Str)

The greatsword's average damage on the same character is 13 (7 from dice + 6 from Str)

You could use a Longsword two handed, but then you're just purposefully using a weapon functionally identical to the Greatsword, but with a worse damage die.

And purposefully nerfing yourself is a bad idea.
>>
>>49296897

I originally wanted a spear user that could actually attack stuff in front of him without having to 5ft step.

>And purposefully nerfing yourself is a bad idea.

Of course Planescape isn't supported by WotC. It's a 22 year old setting, and it's not as popular as FR. That doesn't mean it's some 'cult' setting. It's been very popular and long lasting.

As for Eberron, now you're the one out of touch with reality. WotC released an Eberron supplement for 5E. They have their latest product supporting the setting.

Go to the game store, pick one at random and it will suit your idea more than Pathfinder. Even if you found something like it, everyone at your table would rightly hate you for trying to force it into their setting.

yay
Lemme write up a mini-guide for ya on how I do it.
Step 1: open GIMP or any equivalent. Basically any proper image editor, not mspaint.
Step 2: open the image you want, duplicate the layer with it so you have two exactly same layers.
Step 3: add alpha channel to both layers.
Step 4: on one of the layers, cut out the circular base of the token and delete everything around it, draw the circular border itself right there.
Step 5: on the other layer, make a precise selection of elements you want to poke out, invert selection, delete everything around it.
Step 6: put these layers on top of each other in the correct order (pokey out elements above the circle)
Step 7: enjoy

If the guy is arguing that he's an idiot.

>Powerful Build: The physical stature of half-giants lets them function in many ways as if they were one size category larger. Whenever a half-giant is subject to a size modifier or special size modifier for a Combat Maneuver Bonus or Combat Maneuver Defense (such as during grapple checks, bull rush attempts, and trip attempts), the half-giant is treated as one size larger if doing so is advantageous to him. A half-giant is also considered to be one size larger when determining whether a creature's special attacks based on size (such as grab or swallow whole) can affect him. A half-giant can use weapons designed for a creature one size larger without penalty. However, his space and reach remain those of a creature of his actual size. The benefts of this racial trait stack with the effects of powers, abilities, and spells that change the subject's size category.

That's what half-giants get. It doesn't say they can swing large weapons, just weapons one size category larger than they could normally use. So if the half-giant were tiny he'd be able to swing around small weapons.

Despite what these assholes say, there's machineguns in the "modern weapons" section (rasputin must die) of the game, though the only "missiles" are the tech rocket launcher, and all tech weapons were deliberately designed to be worse than crossbows in most ways.

I say MOST, because there... ARE a few special alternatives like the warsoul who can get around some of the barriers to entry.

Honestly though your best bet is if you're allowed 3.5 stuff and use that power of cybernetics homebrew, which is incarnum except better designed, better balanced, and puts the akashic stuff to fucking shame.

Cheating a bit on DMD mode, but the best NPC villain I ever ran was a human 'god blade', which was basically me cheating with an initiator to give them access to all schools (TOB, not PoW), as well as an innate dead magic zone around them (which dead magic zones in 3.5 didn't work like antimagic and still allowed SU abilities, or at least that was the rules we had found), making someone with just SU abilities actually pretty nice for a group with weak system mastery like we had back then.

Good old Veral St. Cross was a true adversary to the party, and eventually I'd like to update them to PF with POW, even if they broke a few rules to be awesome.

Would a Halfling Ninja count as a Martial? She was, perhaps, the only antagonist I have ever thrown at my player who sent them flying into a legitimate panic every time she showed up. Every time the party fought her, she kicked their shit in, half of the time not even using the bullshit items she had prepared to use against them (such as her Spellstoring Ring that held a timestop).

First Fight? They were incapacitated for weeks as they tried to cure the Con-drain poison she used against them.

Second Fight? She Invisible Blade sneak attacked half of them into the negatives before they had a chance to retaliate.

Third Fight? They chugged their See Invisibility potions... but couldn't pierce her Hellcat Stealth, and got sneak-attacked to death while trying to run away.

Fourth Fight wasn't really a fight. A player new to the party thought it would be amusing to say "And why should we listen to your pint sized whore ass?" and got his ass assassinated during a parlay they had arranged with her.

Fifth Fight was her last, and it was a pyrrhic victory for the party, as it was 5 on 1 and she had dropped everyone but the investigator. He got 2 crits against her with his Revolver, the first of which she deflected arrows, but the second of which dropped her to the single digits. She ran off to lick her wounds, leaving him to drag the party out of a burning building.

At that point, she and her husband, a mid level bureaucrat in the Imperial Government and mastermind behind the conspiracy the party was slowly unraveling, decided to cut their losses and eliminate everyone who knew they were involved. Which was maybe half a dozen people, mostly the CEOs of some Alchemical Corporations. The campaign ended with the two of them drinking frozen drinks on the shores of the Ninja's ancestral home, while the party brought enough evidence to the cops to break up nearly twenty seven major corporations for illegal experimentation on humanoid life.
>>
So somehow through making bets on various party members in pit fights we ended up bankrupting and then buy out a whole city with plenty of pocket change leftover. I'm only a level 6 Inquisitor though, and honestly I feel like taking everything I can afford as far as wondrous items go would be kinda broken. Maybe I'll have him retire and switch to a new character...

How suited would you say Pathfinder is for horror one-shots? To kick off my own personal month of horrors I'm planning on running a spooky one-shot with some friends visiting from out of town, and we decided to use Pathfinder as our system (because that and Dungeon World are pretty much all we know). However, given previous runs of Pathfinder I'm concerned that the system isn't designed for the kind of horror I'm going for.

The basic premise is supposed to be a very Lovecraft-esque premise, with combat being less important that evading a nightmare shadow that cannot be fought (at least not for most of the run). I like this idea greatly, but whenever I look at Pathfinder I get the impression it's more geared towards a "KILL ALLA ZOMBIEZ" style of horror where the players aren't allowed to ever feel actually powerless. Since I'm relatively new to GMing as a whole, I was hoping to get some input before I go too far planning.

The only reason we're not using Call of Cthulhu is because nobody wants to learn a new system for a one-off campaign
>>

>>
>>49300286
Dragon Disciple is generally a downgrade for Sorcerers - you're giving up spellcasting prowess in exchange for higher strength, dex and con, but you shouldn't be running up and smacking things with your staff anyway. This hurts for Sorcerers even more since you're already a half-spell level behind wizards. Being a full level behind (they're casting 5th level spells when you just start casting 4th level spells) really hurts.

If you're absolutely dead set on Dragon Disciple, don't go past 4th level. Personally though I think you're better off not bothering with a prestige class and just sticking with Sorcerer the whole way.
>>
>>49300304
Pathfinder is just a system and can work. Just be careful with what classes people are playing - if the PC's decide to just teleport the fuck off, or if the Necromancer starts spamming Control Dead, your players might not find the game too spooky.

>>49296716
I don't have the book yet to really dig through it,but I do have a fondness for Damian Darkstar, and Rasputin the carnival magician.
>>
>>49300421
The Draconic Sorcerer gets claws, wings, a breath weapon, energy resistance, plus all the various Form of the Dragon spells.

Again, 4 levels in Dragon Disciple because the hit dice (d12) is pretty damn nice and the natural armor isn't bad.

The other benefits of the Dragon Disciple are generally useless. The +4 strength is worthless, the extra use of Breath Weapon is probably worthless, and you shouldn't be using the bite.

If you want to play a melee dragon-dude who tears us shit with claws and a bite and sometimes casts spells, then play a Draconic Bloodrager -> Dragon Disciple - the synergy is much better than Sorcerer -> Dragon Disciple.
>>
>>49300540
What does 4 levels get me? Sounding like that'll be the better option for me
>>
>>49300560
In that post I literally just typed out the benefits you will get from 4 levels. The loss of 1 level of spellcasting in exchange for better hit dice, +2 natural armor, and everything else is kind of useless.

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/prestige-classes/core-rulebook/dragon-disciple
>>
>>49300540
Didn't dragon bloodrager not count for the purpose of DD advancing it? Since it's not a sorcerer bloodline, it's a bloodrager bloodline?

Honestly, the only thing that shits DD down the toilet for Sorcs is the Sorc's poor BAB. If they were 3/4 BAB (LIke say, motherfucking Clerics), then it'd be fairly solid. You wouldn't need quite so much BAB to do alright in melee since you'd be mostly natural attacks.

Now I think about it, 3/4 BAB for sorcerers probably wouldn't go down terribly anyway.
>>
>>49300519
Trait bonus is just a type of bonus (example of other type: morale, luck, race, sacred etc.), bonus of the same type usually doesn't stack, only the higher apply.

Magical knack wouldn't help you if you're a pure Sorcerer, but Dragon Disciple doesn't progress your spell casting at level 1,5 and 6. Which mean you lost 3 caster level.

Sorcerer 6 / DD 6 without Magical Knack = 10 caster level.

Sorcerer 6 / DD 6 with Magical Knack = 12 caster level.
Dragon Disciple lost several caster level.

Sounds like you need to get a specialization that someone else in the party doesn't have. You're probably not having fun because there's no reason for your character to be there from a brutally logical perspective.

I'll talk to my GM about it at least, but it's less "I don't like my character and don't want to play them" and more "the things he can do, the new guy can do better and more frequently". I guess I still have magic item crafting, but that would require downtime, and a party that cooperates and tells me what they want me to make them.

I should have just played a regular alchemist. No matter how much I adore the Promethean/Preservationist memebuild, it was dead in the water the second the new guy was allowed to bring a summoner.
>>
>>49296618 Here

I opted for dropping the sword, and instead taking the spear and swapping between them.

Figured I'd get quick draw, and switch to a short range weapon if necessary.

Now, planning for he future, I was wondering what weapon set from the Fighter's Advanced Weapon Training I should focus on.

I'm torn between Spears (With Longspear for 10ft, Spear for 5ft and Javelins for ranged combat) or Polearms (With a Bardiche and a Halberd for cool points). Polearms fits what I originally wanted better, but spears would be more versatile since I could theoretically throw javelins quickly thanks to quick draw. Like with a quiver but filled with javelins. Polearms also has all the cool weapons like the Lucerne or the Glaive-Guisarme.

Which would you think would be a better choice? Are javelins worth the lamer set of weapons to focus on?

On a side note, the feat Lightning Swap from PoW, it says "You may draw or put away a weapon as a free action. You cannot make more weapon swaps per round than your Dexterity modifier."

Am I to understand I can holster one weapon and draw another with a single simple action? First sentence implies not, but the second makes me think think I could, otherwise why limit the amount of times I can actually do it per round?

Ask your DM to allow you to upgrade your homunculus via craft construct rules or to get class levels. (cant be that much stronger than getting a cohort)
When I played a promethean I managed to turn the hommy into a somewhat decent archer.
In my experience gms that accept summoners are like girls with tatoos: they will do pretty much anything you ask them to.

Hello, all. Update to the Spellburst Savant, which is mostly just typo fixes... And an OGL section and new cover. After putting some thought into my work, my spare time, and what I want to do right now, I've decided to open a Patreon page, which can be found here:

https://www.patreon.com/forrestfirestudios

I'm going to be making more homebrew/3pp on my own as time goes on, using this page as a hub for it. There's more details on exactly how this will work on the page itself, but the big things to note:

>The stuff I write will all be represented in PDFs like the Spellburst Savant
>These PDFs will be available to anyone to look at/use/feedback on, not just Patreon patrons
>DSP has their eye on my work to pick up and publish things they like, but otherwise, I'm going to be publishing them myself once I think a given project is ready
>There's a list of upcoming projects that I'm tossing around on the Patreon page. Patrons get to vote on which I write in a given month.
>It's monthly, not per-release. I'm confident that I'll be able to write up at least one thing like the Spellburst Savant's PDF each month. Sometimes they'll be smaller, sometimes they'll be bigger, sometimes it'll end up half-written and another project picked up if I have major writer's block, it'll still happen.

NOW. As I've set up some new drive stuff just for this, the permanent link to the Spellburst Savant has changed:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B5HkyGRtGZy3T3lfQThtVDRkMU0?usp=sharing

This link (also on the Patreon page) will take you to a Google Drive folder that I'll be storing my projects in, and keeping the PDFs updated.

Thanks for your time.

Is there any way to avoid the AOO inherant to using an Alchemist Bomb? There's another for throwing in melee, but if an enemy has 15+ reach it can make it impossible to effectively use that feature in an enclosed area.

Would some kind of Bombing Defensively be viable?
>>
>>49301440
If I recall, Lightning Swap is the shittier of two feats that let you do that.

What you actually want is Mixed Combat. It doesn't require 15 dex and doesn't have a limit on the number of swaps.
>>
So, I have a stupid question about Aegis.

Can we have different customizations for all his suits, or does he have the same customizations no matter what suit he has?

The Construct rules thing might be a hard sell, but I could probably slip at least a few upgrades off it without pissing anyone off. That would require downtime to do, though, and that's been a bit scarce. I got a few custom discoveries okayed, but they've been a little underwhelming, and getting the GM to look at more has proven kind of frustrating.

The class levels thing I should be able to get, though. Especially since the summoner is also yanking Leadership out from under me. If I get that greenlit, what would be a good way to rule it? Should I also just be extremely simple and go for a Mutation Warrior Fighter?

In the future, don't actively deceive people, unless you mean to say that you didn't have the idea of publishing it at first, which is possible but, considering the place we're in, fairly unlikely to me. It wouldn't be the first scummy thing a publishing company's done.

I'm look at you, TSR.

Also.
>initiating antipaladin

I talked to Gareth about this back when LotN was in playtesting. I was looking at the Paladin archetype for inspiration, but as I looked through the features, it's... Well, there isn't really a whole lot that you can simply reverse. Base Antipaladin features are pretty much just "take the Paladin and make everything backwards". Mercies become debuffs, lay on hands becomes damage, smiting Evil becomes smiting Good, you get an EEEVIL pony instead of a shiny one, and so forth.

But the only discipline with a direct opposite is Silver Crane, and that's Black Seraph. And then there's Eternal Guardian which doesn't seem to know if it's Neutral or Evil considering how it uses Intimidate and curses. Then the rest of the disciplines are pretty much all alignment agnostic, and entirely on purpose, because a means of stabbing a dude /usually/ doesn't care about the morality of who you stab or why you're stabbing them. It's a stab method, as neutral as the sword you're stabbing with.

If I was going to have one key initiating Antipaladin feature, it would probably be a means of overcoming immunity to Fear effects, probably at level 4 so it's outside of the usual dipping range. Dread/Antipaladin would still be workable, I guess, but if you heavily emphasize Black Seraph and allow them to shove their Cruelties onto the end of Strikes they make, it could be good I guess.

>Seifter had all of them ready to go, Paizo doesn't want to release them.

I'll try that, but keep in mind, I'm going to be making it a bit simpler and less esoteric (because the more I read over the Playtest Medium, the more of a clusterfuck the rules seem desu), but HOPEFULLY just as customizable. If you've got a link to the playtest threads, that would be great.

What I'm aiming for is there being six "Big Spirits" which are the mythic paths. Then there are "Associated Spirits" which are like all of the Playtest spirits. Big Spirits give you four powers at the Medium's pregression, Associated Spirits give you three powers at a slightly slower progression.

That sound alright to you two?

As someone playing a yokai who never leaves fox form, I support this statement
>>
>>49302111
I'll message the publisher about it tonight, no idea when the book that it's coming out in is being put out.

But yeah, 3rd level will make it compatible with more things, probably helps the power level too.

I still need to sort my shit out for the next 3 ideas I have, 2 being collabs with another writer (one that isn't Team KOP), and at least one that isn't (the dragon book), as well as no direction on what to do in the slightest.

Whee!

What is so hard to get?
Here is a mental exercise: Imagine all the good things you think about a girl you fall in love at first sight, then compare it to what happens when you actually know how much of a piece of shit she really is after interacting with her.
A waifu is like that but without ever realizing what a piece of crap she is because you cant never actually meet her in real life.

There's a thought-so much is said about yokai pretending to be humans, and walking around as humanoids, but no one ever seems to just play the fox.

Which seems like it could actually be pretty funny.

I'm fairly sure Bombs don't work with Conductive.

The Bombs ability is not itself a touch attack, but an ability which gives you a splash weapon (Which is a touch attack)

Actually not that far off from the introduction to our current campaign. I did consider just going Kineticist with fire punches but the alchemist/technology aspect fits the setting better and lets me lead in as a potential follower of another character.

Conductive only works once per round, jesus fucking christ.

This conductive meme needs to die.
>>
>>49302066
>Paladin
>the Homunculus comes stock with 7 Cha

I had a discovery that might patch that, and I guess the Craft Construct upgrades could fix it too, but still... Ehhhhhh. If I can get class levels on her, it's a tossup between an archetyped fighter, or a Stygian Slayer. The latter would probably be more fun, though fighter would probably be better for just going turret mode.
>>
>>49302310
"A conductive weapon is able to channel the energy of a spell-like or supernatural ability that relies on a melee or ranged touch attack to hit its target (such as from a cleric's domain granted power, sorcerer's bloodline power, oracle's mystery revelation, or wizard's arcane school power)."

Bombs do rely on that touch attack for delivery, even if you're normally going to get auto-hits if you're aiming for squares/spaces instead of targets with actual AC values.
>>
>>49302310
You are wrong, but since Jolly is here he can tell you himself. I got the idea from his guide

>>49302336
>Bombs do rely on that touch attack for delivery, even if you're normally going to get auto-hits if you're aiming for squares/spaces instead of targets with actual AC values.

'Hit' is actually a specific game term. Splash damage isn't a hit, specifically, so things that work on a successful hit don't work with them - but it doesn't disqualify you from using Conductive with it.

Why wouldn't you just use a Launching Crossbow with an Autoloader Magazine and Rapid Reload, though? The Autoloader doesn't actually reload it with a bomb, but the ability it has to reduce reload times doesn't care.

>>49302350
Explosive missile is a specific Standard action like Vital Strike, it doesn't work as a full attack.

It's an SU ability that requires a touch attack, not really sure what the problem is unless it was FAQ'd into oblivion. I think it's been talked about on the forums before, and no one has ever tried to correct anyone about using it.

I'm not seeing anything in the Combat rules that defines a "hit" like it does "effect."

I was aiming for an item creation suite of feats, haven't got the spare slots for the combat feats needed to make the crossbow combo worthwhile.

>Sneak Attack Acid Arrow : Do the extra d6 apply on the following round?
No, only on the initial attack.

>Empower Spell Sneak Attack : Do empower spell affect sneak attack dice too?
No, Empower only affects the spell dice.

And in case you're wondering, for spells that launch multiple attacks (Magic Missile, Scorching Ray, etc) you pick only one missile and apply your sneak attack to it.
>>
>>49302310

>>49302467
If I remember one of the FAQ replies, Sneak Attack applies to any spell that deals damage to a target who would normally be vulnerable to sneak attack; flat-footed, denied dex, unaware of your presence and intent to harm, etc.

Likewise IIRC that includes Sneak Attack AOE damage spells like Fireball as well as attack roll spells like Scorching Ray.

What are some fun E6 builds for pathfinder? I am playing a ranger currently, but might switch out. Maybe as a Magus/Rogue/Arcane Trickster for a spread of skills and shenanigans?

>>
So a medium creature with two arms can wield medium two handed weapon, a large one handed weapon, or a huge small weapon.

Can a medium creature with four arms wield a large or huge weapon?
>>
>>49302499
Yes, but that's because it's a splash weapon. It's like an alchemist's fire.

It's like saying you'd be able to use Conductive on any other 'create a weapon' effect so long as it was touch.
>>
>>49302494
>>49302483
See >>49302523.

Unless it been faq'd away. Sneak Attack dice isn't a separate effect, thus Empower spell do affect it. Since it count as part of the spell damage roll.
>>
>>49302517
Sneak attack only functions on attacks, so.

No.
>>
>>49302553
"A conductive weapon is able to channel the energy of a spell-like or supernatural ability that relies on a melee or ranged touch attack to hit its target"

No just any of the above text's clearly defined effects. Of which bomb has no reason not to fall under. Supernatural ability that requires a touch attack as part of its functionality.
>>
>>49302517
The AoE damage spell faqs was specifically for Arcane Trickster's capstone ability.

Otherwise, it work fine as long as there is an attack roll.
>>
>>49302523
>>49302577

No, that's wrong

Scorching ray does [4d6] + let's just say [2d6] sneak attack damage, only the 4d6 part can be improved by empower spell

It's just like how critical hits don't multiply sneak attack damage on a weapon attack
>>
>>49302523
With the note that that FAQ is fucking retarded, you are correct. RAW and RAI Empower, Maximize and all other forms of dice-modifying metamagic also modify sneak attack damage dice added to a spell's damage.
>>
>>49302553
Is it SU?
check.

Is it rely on melee or ranged touch attack to hit its target?
check.
>>
>>49302589
Ah shoot, sorry did a little digging and I got it mixed up with the Arcane Trickster's surprise spell feature. My bad.
>>
>>49302614
>Empower Spell:
Benefit: All variable, numeric effects of an empowered spell are increased by half including bonuses to those dice rolls.

As per the FAQ, all of the damage dice are added together into a single pool. This means your Scorching Ray deals 6d6 damage and Empower would boosts it to 9d6.
>>
>>49302614
>It's just like how critical hits don't multiply sneak attack damage on a weapon attack

That's actually irrelevant. You're right that it doesn't work, but it doesn't work because Sneak Attack isn't a part of the spell's effect.

Just like you can't empower the damage from Elemental Nimbus (fire) Stance on Scorching Rays. It's still a really good thing to use, but it won't be boosted by it.
>>
>>49302664
But it is part of the spell according to JB. :3c
>>
>>49302662
Sneak Attack damage isn't part of the spell, it won't multiply. It's just always the same damage type as the attack that causes it.
