Hell yes.

I mean, Fischer was amazingly dominant for about 3 years, 69-72. He was a top 10-20ish GM for a hell of a lot longer than that, and there are lots of guys like that. Not to mention that generally, more recent players are stronger than players further back, just as technique develops further and further.

Kasparov passed Fischer. Carlsen is better still.
