As someone who once upon a time wrote some stuff for WHH, the real thing that would improve WHH were it ever relaunched is a consistent tone. Half the stories are generic SOL with nothing other than the names to link them with the universe they're supposedly based on. Others might namedrop a few things but otherwise set everything in generic modern times, and a few try to go the full 9 yards and show the setting as it is in the HH books.

There were a few good ideas in /hhg/ about a setting where the Great Crusade won, and I'd go with them as a starting point. Ditch everything that has been written before and try and make it read and feel like 30k, with the daughters more closely resembling their fathers and not being just generic waifus that aside from looks act nothing like the Primarchs.

One of the big factors leading up to the Heresy was a growing fear within the primarchs as a group that with the galaxy mostly conquered there'd be nothing for them to do - I figured that the combination of the daughters, an Imperial Job (Manus working with Mars, for example) and a keeping command of the legions in a protective rather than conquering role could keep even primarchs busy

I always liked the idea that they remained perfectly human, more or less, until they reached about 100ish.

They then underwent a sort of 2nd puberty and became more primarch like. Exception being Morticia due to her illness.

They all to at least some degree grew in stature and strength to something approaching that of a Space Marine.

There were variations; Miranda ended up tall and thin, Freya was shorter but was one of the stronger of the sisters.

Odd features started to develop. Angelicas wings grew into proper sized wings and she could fly much like her father. Venus' skin gradually grew darker and darker and her eyes went from being red tinted to fully red to vivid blood red to glowing red.

Actually his stepfather was a very smart man - for all that he was an asshole as a Tyrant, he could manage Pert okay and made sure to do nothing to offend him, well aware that if he were to rebel there was fuck all he could do against a primarch. The real thing is that the Daughter descriptions need to be overhauled. They need to be brought closer in line to the Primarchs themselves, and anything anachronistic (Like 'Old Money' What the fuck is that and what does it have to do with 30k?) should be removed. I mean, if anyone has read Scars and Path of Heaven, they would see that Hana Khan should have her father's massive independent streak and disdain for authority except on her terms. Stuff like that.

Appraisal is a slightly darker and edgier take on it, not focused on the daughters. Kinda alright, but not really what the whole thing was about imo.

It hasn't aged well. As more and more people have got into 30k and read the BL and FW books, the limitations of the original authors and the fact that none of them knew a damn thing about 30k become starkly apparent.

Given that it's been 5 years and there's a whole new breed of 30k fans here, I think the time is right for a reboot that actually comes closer to the 30k setting, with Daughters who actually resemble their Fathers. Those Daughters that were unfairly ignored (Petra being the most obvious, but the Khan, Kelly Curze, Roberta, Isis and the Twins were also largely shafted) could get some real development based on 5+ years of new material (Especially true in the case of Petra. We know so much more about Peturabo now, not all of it good, but enough to construct Petra a real personality beyond the 'oh she likes art' thing in her description. She should be smart but overlooked, unfairly ignored, possibly slightly autistic and a loner who invests all her time in building shit to compensate.)

Morticia becomes insanely enduring but always ill and remains human sized with the strength of an ill human. But really hard to damage.

Get bitch slapped by a The Beast level ork with a power claw. Even a full blooded primarch would have felt that. she scrambles out of the rubble of the wall she went through with no additional marks on her and starts throwing bricks at the warboss.

An attempt to try and make them all at least slightly distinct in terms of abilities. I'm not touching on personality in this.

Farah - Gains the ability to detect, interpret and even to a limited degree interact with the mechanicus Noosphere without any augmentations. The place where her false hands are joined to the flesh is getting a little blurry. It is possible that prolonged contact with her artificial flesh and consecrated technology, both she considers equally to be part of her self, is causing the two to merge.

Venus - Skin gets progressively darker as she ages, eventually goes pitch black. Eyes get progressively redder until they are glowing red like a forge. Extremely heat and radiation resistant.

Kelly & Cora - Both become albino pale but with eyes black edge to edge. Excellent night vision and increased visual spectrum range. Also may have some ability to blur their outlines in the perceptions of others.

Morticia - Remains sickly looking as ever. Requires inhaler of specially brewed alchemical substances. Insane levels of physical and psychic endurance.

Petra - Freakishly good with numbers. If you can render the problem down to numbers she can solve it. Innately good with technology second only to Farra.

Alpharia & Omegan - Some sort of quantum entanglement event going on in their brains. If one sees it the other does too. In real time regardless of distance.

Hana - Better reflexes than her cousins and better movement perception in the higher range. Also possibly latent Navigator genes.

Furia & Angela - Will fuck you up. Physically the strongest of the cousins. Angela has some vague precognitive abilities but Furia can fight longer without tiring.

Victoria & Roberta - Don't seem to need sleep and have a freakish aptitude for logistics and all things to do with organization.

Lyra & Faith - Can read and memorize a whole page of text at a single glance. Lyra uses it for battle strategy and tactical concerns. Faith followed in her fathers footsteps and became a theologian. Faith also developed a slightly goldish metallic sheen to her skin.

Remila – Not quite as goo with numbers as Petra, not quite as good at organizing as Roberta or Victoria and not as enduring as Morticia. Probably the most measured and well-rounded of the Emperor’s granddaughters in terms of abilities.

Freya – Stronger than most of her cousins with high levels of physical stamina. Enhanced senses of smell and hearing.

Miranda – Psychic wrecking ball that’s smart enough to learn from the mistakes of her father and grandfather. Also can navigate ships by punching a clear path through the warp rather than surfing currents.

Malcador's daughter Sigillia, and out of this lot the only not to be born in a glass tube, seems to be omni-linguistic and has passive perceptive psychic abilities. She doesn't interact with the other's often and is operating on a much lower level of inherent ability.

Maybe in this AU Logar and the Emperor reached a compromise. The Emperor would only stamp on faiths that deified him or looked favourably on Chaos.

Religions that merely venerated the Emperor were tolerated.

Logar becomes the Space Pope of several diverse Imperial State Religions with the Emperor held up as a founding saint.

Faith rebels against this and starts researching ancient Terran religions, Xeno beliefs and other current beliefs within the Imperium's bounds.

At some point soon Logar is going to have a sit down with her for The Talk about the true nature of Chaos. At the moment she just thinks that the Chaos worshipers are interstellar lunatics with radiation addled brains.

One of the consistent things about the Primarch Daughters thing is that the Emperor has achieved not quite peace but certainly less wars and less grimdark.

Presumably this means that he has managed non-aggression pacts and possibly agreements of mutual protection with the likes of the craftworlders and tau and other less insane xenos.

An ideal diplomat and spokesperson for the Imperium, greatest of all Empires, and the other lesser interstellar nations wouldn't be as racist and instinctively xenophobic as someone raised in the days of the Great Crusade. Like the Emperor and Horus and Malcador and everyone else of that era.

Isis is of the Emperor's house, ad therefore can speak with his royal authority, but a diplomat and ambassador of a new and less shit time without the baggage of the past dragging her down.

Thought I’d try my hand at doing Daughter Personalities that cleave as close to the Primarchs as possible.

Lyra: Holds herself to an incredibly high standard only very few of her cousins can match. Very introverted, has a tendency to be highly critical both of others and of herself and comes off as blunt and undiplomatic. Very much a closed book, broods on things for long periods and almost never opens up. Not very good at expressing herself even when she does decide to open up.

Victoria: believes absolutely in being noble, strong, and excelling in all matters. Always strives to be the very best, pursuing all matters with total dedication and focus. But she is jealous of those who she can’t overtake, and contemptuous for any who she has surpassed. And no matter how many accolades earned, top marks earned and skills mastered it is never enough. The achievements of the past mean nothing. Her hunger for perfection is without limit, and can never be sated.

Petra: hers is a mind composed of mathematical equations, looking at the world around her in angles and percentages, statistics and numbers. She is one of the most intelligent of all of them, very meticulous, all her actions carefully measured. Antisocial to a fault, even more closed off than Lyra and has to be forced to open up to others. Does not handle her emotions well and tries to close them off as much as possible, bottling them up. Simplicity is the key to her, expedience the goal.

Hana: deliberately acts as an outsider and keeps mostly to herself, and is considered somewhat mysterious by all the others. Very quiet, speaks sparingly but knowledgeably. Always has an edge of defensiveness that bleeds though whenever she has to deal with one of the others. She is what she is, and she never demands respect from anyone. Very poetic soul. Always moving, always in motion, cannot be pinned down. She could never stand still for long.

Freya: smart and cunning, but not in an intellectual way, more of an instinctual way. Plays up the barbarian angle and prefers to be seen as an uncouth woman. Highly honor-bound and a woman of her word. Her oath, once given is ironclad. She is always in control of her actions and thoughts, and even what seems like irrational actions are carefully thought out before they are done.

Remilia: possessed of a single-minded energy tempered by a reserved and stoic nature, Remilia may come off as dour and emotionless on the surface, but deep down she is reserved, cautious and calculating, and capable of pursuing an end with relentless energy. Can rival Lyra for brooding. She is an absolute idealist who believes whole heartedly in the Emperor, and in the future that the Emperor is trying to create and is willing to do anything to secure that future, including putting herself on the line.

Kelly: very dim view of human nature, and believes that humans have to be forced to behave as humans, for without the shackles of authority men would act as animals. Somewhat fatalistic. If bad things are to happen, they happen. Believes she has to be what is needed to ensure peace, even if that is a monster. Is willing to be the bad guy if it empowers the good guys. Makes the perfect bad cop.

Angela: A paragon. One for all to look up to. Even tempered in all things. And yet she is uncomfortably aware that because of her wings she is a mutant, not entirely human, that she has to act more human because she is less human than any of her cousins. Others always seek to force her to their own ends, and most times she acquiesces. Her emotions are heightened, and she is well practised at keeping her feelings in check. Patience is not her strong point. However she bears the burden of an inner darkness, of visions of blood and death. Though she tries to ignore them, she is always painfully aware of them, and of the flaw that they show she has inside her.

She also is cold and logical and obsessed by efficiency to the expense of much else.
