Apparently the X-Wing starter is 40 euro.
Well I hope I don't save the 30 euro from not buying the TFA RPG starter, but it's not too bad I guess?
>>
>>49260107
Speaking of the RPG, I'm going out with a friend for some beers, he's the potential third player. Hope he digs it.
>>
>>49260159

A chat and some beers is how I got into the X Wing Miniature game
>>
>>49260285
The RPG is my primary goal for him, but I'm not gonna be a dick if he's more into X-Wangs. He's a cool guy, and he's into Star Wars in general so it's not like a brick wall.
Ah well, beers first, then we see what nerd shit I talk him into.
>>
>>49260285
>>49260324
Also that reminds me of how I got all the kids in my and the next building to get into duel masters. If there's interest I'll tell the story, either in this or the next thread.
>>
>>49260460
I really hope you didn't take all the kids out for beers to convince them to play Duel Masters.
>>
So how do people like the new Han Solo?

Just not sure if the deep deployment is worth the price tag.
>>
>>49260613
He's interesting and radically different, so it'll take a while to get a proper assessment. He looks fun, though.
>>
>>49260640
I'm not sure if deep deployment is what he wants. Han list will still be fat and people are gonna gun for it. It just seems like a super easy way for opponents to get target priorities straight.
>>
>>49260685
I think building fat may not be the way to go. He'd almost be more of a guided missile/disruptive force.

I could see Lone Wolf, Finn, 3PO, old title and engine upgrade. It's 61 points, though, so you can't fit much else in there.

Maybe just lone wolf, crack shot, old title and Finn for 55

>>49260685
I like it because it throws a wrench into the typical play rhythm where you have 2-3 turns of setting up and/or fixing your deployment positions. It'll force you to start problem-solving right away, and therefore your deployment pattern will be much more important. It will punish castle/fortress tactics, where there wasn't any penalty to bumping yourself as long as you wanted before.

What I'm really interested in is weather or not we'll see much Han+Sabine Conner Net shenanigans.

Order 66 is the only thing that springs to my mind. Do the PC's know about it? Would they be okay with killing "Rogue" Jedi, "treasonous" politicians

You could have them do some really shady stuff as Sheev's personal Black Ops team, but the issue I see is would it affect the PC's at all with them being clones? It depends on what the PC's personalities are I guess. Would they be like Fives and start to ask questions? Or would they just follow orders, not think about it etc,

There could be some fun stuff like hunting for Sith artifacts or other things Sheev wants but can't publicly get. There's a mission in Star Wars Battlefront 2 where you steal a power crystal for Sheev, as a "secret" objective.

I have zero experience with this
>>
>>49261762
Mopping Seppie intelligence cells. Hunting down survivors of the Jedi Agri Corps. Seizing and destroying or bringing back for analysis Seppie super weapons. Blowing up Seppie droid factories or shipyards still churning out war material that the rebels might get their hands on.

Infiltrating Rebel Alliance cells and wiping them out. That kind of thing.

Yeah, I don't know if it's because I was like 13 at the time but it was the dankest shit, didn't like the N-1 in it though I hated that the torps were the only secondary that ran out.
>>
>>49262315

I think it'd be smoother to just have clones. You won't have anyone worrying about being disposable or fighting over who gets to be the jedi/sith. It'd make combat easier as well I'd imagine, and Jedi/force users could be dangerous encounters instead of the clones just letting the Jedi/apprentice do all the work.

Is it actually possible to take Poe down without resorting to big ships? I'm convinced it can't be done.

Affordable and endlessly customizable. Its just a really old model and no new ones have rolled off a CEC assembly line in decades (like, at least 50 years).

I a way its like an old Ford pickup in that they're old and out of production, but anybody still flying them around is either strapped for cash or has modded the shit out of it because they're insane gearheads feeding Lucas' hot rod boner.

Depends on the exact Poe build. Soontir can do it (if it's not VI Poe), some defender lists can push his shit in, anything that deny actions like stressbot y-wings or just forcing a bump with a crowded field of TIE fighters also makes him super vulnerable.
>>
>>49263529
In X-Wing? Of course it is! I shot him down with Guri, and some chaff.
>>
>>49263529
>>49264029
Personally I like using Poe with R2 over BB-8. Granted I only play with my friend, but he hates it when I start getting shields back.
>>
>>49264029
The deal with Poe, is realizig how to fly against his different builds. If it's regen-Poe, then he'll be holding on to a Focus token (R5-P8), or slow-rolling around with green maneuvers when looking to recharge (R2-D2). If he's flying for lethality/dodginess, he's going BB-8 with title and Push the Limit (or rarely some other build). In the case PtL and BB-8, he maneuver will always be a green forward (up to 3) or a 1 bank, if he's looking to make use of the crazy action economy. Once you know that, you can accurately predict which way he'll want to roll and maneuver. The biggest killer to the BB-8 build however, is stress. Once he has a stress token, he's fucked for at least te following turn, as he won't be able to utilize BB-8 and therefore can't Barrel Roll (because he'll always take Autothrusters).

Of all the Poe builds, BB-8 is the most hyper-lethal if you don't see it coming, and will fuck over late-game 1v1 champions like Omega Leader. Focus-Regen Poe (R5-P8) will actively try to not spend that token, and as such really fucking hates Palob and Wes. And lastly R2-D2 Poe is pretty much the "oh shit, what are you doing!?", due to being the easiest to second guess.

I have had a lot of luck cutting down Poe with Starvipers, but I've been told they're my signature ship that people hate seeing me play. I've also done well with Key Farlander and Tycho against Poe builds. But I attribute that to sheer dumb luck.
>>
>>49264239
so as someone who knows more. If I was going to run Poe with Rey+Finn, do you think that would work well.

I'd probably go BB-8, because fluff, so say a more aggressive Poe, with a fatBottom Rey with Finn and C-3PO.

>>
>>49262912
Who's Kyp?
>>
>>49264375
Yeah. I'd say it'd work well. Any named Falcon is going to be a tank of hit points and primary turret that can't be ignored. It can block higher PS ships with ease (base size), and will have a shot on anything within R3 of it. That'll take some heat off Poe, allowing him to do his thing. If your opponent tries tonfocus fire Poe (which would be smart of them), they have to contend with Rey's fat bottom base getting in their way and possibly fucking up their actions.

The main problems you'll run into, will be shit like Tie Swarms, Crackshot A-Wings, alpha strikes that front-load 3 or more torps/missiles, and bombers.
>>
>>49264623
I'm considering it. For the moment, I just gave it a brown wash to give it some kind of color. Plastic beige is one of my least favorite memories of the 80s/90s.

VI Poe you're gonna need something with similar PS and maneouverability, I'm thinking Rexler with VI and a Tractor Beam and the TIE/D title. Also, Poe only has two evade dice, so Crack Swarms will work as well.
>>
>>49265388
Not at all. Soontir is as deadly as ever, provided you can stay out of arc and at close range. Carnor Jax is good if you can get in close before Poe has a chance to take actions- prevent him from getting a focus token and he's all sorts of fucked. Defenders are great right now- try flying TIE/D Vessery with ion or tractor alongside Omega Leader and watch Poe melt away.

>>
>>49268781
Redline:
FCS, EM, Plasma Torps, Cluster missiles, guidance chips

Kills things dead surprisingly fast. Your opponent will gun for him so be prepared for that. The nerf to FCS and CM just made it so you probably have to use your GC, also having a focus isn't a horrible idea.

Deathrain:
Adv. Sensors, EM, Proton bombs, Connor Nets

Replace protons with some other drop on reveal bomb if you want. Thermal detonators might be fun.

The meat here though is dropping a connor net right on top of your opponent. Guaranteed to screw up your opponents plans.

Both these ships should leave enough points to take two decent supporting ships. Punisher generics are garbage, don't take them, ever. Gamma Vets with deadeye are better and cheaper.

Xwing is a fun miniatures game based on squad sized dogfighting set in a universe everyone knows and loves. It's also quite affordable in comparison to most miniatures games. xwing is space fighter combat with a big emphasis on manouvers and simultanious player turns. Better balanced and quicker games. Individually more expensive minis, but you use a lot less and they do come already assembled and painted.

40k is larger scale, both in miniature size and force size ground warfare. not as balanced but still good for casual gaming. Won through positioning, target priority mainly. Much greater variety in factions and minis allow much more customization.

list building is very important for both.

go xwing if you want lower money and time investment and competitive tournament style gaming.

40k if you like the hobby aspect of building and painting as well having a big ground army with large scope for customization.

yeah my bad you're right.

looks like deadeye works for noras ability. but only on the attack. Add recon specialist or a focus passing wingman and its probably a good combo.
>>
>>49273381

Yeah, that was the plan. I was going to go with this:

https://geordanr.github.io/xwing/?f=Rebel%20Alliance&d=v4!s!204:19,-1,38,3:41:-1:;185:27,-1,78,147:-1:20:;4:-1,185:-1:20:&sn=Deadeye%20Shennanigans
>>
>>49273247
This is an interesting interpretation of the card. I do not believe you can use Deadeye in that manner, here's why:

Norra's ability reads:
>When attacking or defending, you may spend a target lock you have on the enemy ship to add 1 Focus result to your roll.
Note that the ability triggers AFTER you begin your attack, it happens 'when' you're attacking, not as a condition of your attack. This is important when reading Deadeye.

>When an attack instructs you to spend a target lock, you may spend a focus token instead.
This specifically refers spending a Target Lock to make an attack (made explicit by: 'You may treat the "ATTACK (TARGET LOCK):" header as '"ATTACK (FOCUS):".')

Essentially, you are not spending your Target Lock to make an attack, but rather to modify the attack after it has been made. Deadeye specifically modifies the cost of making an attack, something which is not affected by Norra's ability. There is no synergy between them.
>>
>>49273529
>Essentially, you are not spending your Target Lock to make an attack, but rather to modify the attack after it has been made. Deadeye specifically modifies the cost of making an attack,

Okay, after looking at it really closely, I see what you mean. If Nora's ability had the Attack prefix, then it would work.

I got it.

Fuck. For half a day I thought I had a really good combo there.

Force push isn't really intended to kill either, yet Force pushing someone into a wall hard enough to kill them or off a cliff is never treated as evil when used in the heat of battle.

It's like saying lightsabers aren't meant to kill. Strictly apeaking it's correct, but no one should bat an eye if someone uses it to defend their friends lives.

Agreed. Personally, I'm glad to have her here, even if she is piloting the wrong ship.

I kinda tolerate Thane too, if only because I enjoyed Lost Stars. Mainly due to them subverting my expectations of who was going to end up on what side by the end.
>>
>>49277722
>Tycho
Mostly solid, beware of marksmanship. It's expensive for a focus that can only be used on offense. Unless you do extra stuff with crits (Maarek, Bossk, Ten) I wouldn't bother. Rage is cheaper and more helpful. Consider a proton rocket for that big hit.

>Ten
Shit, Tyrone, get it together. Bs are expensive and will go down to sustained fire, so keep them cheap. Ten forces damage through with crits, so marksmanship, mangler cannon, calculation, chipped torpedoes. Extra munitions and guidance chips are your friends.

>Gemmer
Cool pilot, good flanker. Consider test pilot and push the limit.

Looks like a fun list, I'd just do a bit of trimming on Ten to maybe squeeze in Jake or 2 prototypes.

Yeah it was a poor list. Looking back on it Id have replaced Ten and Jan with Keyan and Kyle, and replaced Gemmer with Wedge or something. I didnt even use the torps or ion cannon on Ten.

I had 15 points left after adding the three ships, and nothing to fill it with so I went crazy with upgrades. I have a Z95 to fill those gaps now

Gemmer was the first to die, but Tycho and Ten ended the match with one hull left each. Ten got three kills though.

When this card is assigned, if it is not already in play, the player who dealt it searches the Damage deck for 1 Damage card with the Pilot trait and may place it faceup on this card. Then shuffle the damage deck.

When you suffer critical damage from an attack, you are instead dealt the chosen faceup Damage card.

When there is no Damage card on this card, remove it.

>>
>>49279600
VI/Adaptability wouldn't be bad to boost/sloop last, PtL for token stacking, Wired for all the rerolls when stressed, Crack Shot since you're in arc anyway.
>>
>>49279600
PtL pretty much limits the dial of the big ship(s) to their limited green maneuvers. I find that even with Engine Upgrade, you end up using the boost (or roll for Dash) to make up for your lack of being able to use the White maneuvers. The fix to that, is Kanan. In other words, for YTs, take Kanan if you grabbing PtL. And make sure you have the actions for it to be relevant (EU, or Evade action Millenium Falcon title).

Wired is a really interesting and finicky EPT, that has some very niche uses. I love it on Guri, and it's awesome on Jan Ors (HWK) with a TLT, and can be made to work on Ibtism or Keyan. I don't see it being too useful on Rey, though. VI/Adaptability, Crackshot for cheap, Intimidation with good wingmen, Swarm Tactics or Decoy for lower end wingmen, or even Wingman if you've got a stress monkey flyin with her.

I have been playing the X-Wing campaign with some friends, it's what really got me into X-wing. I have a Y-Wing that I painted up to look good as shit. My current plan is to buy the Rebel Aces box and an X-Wing, the T65, probably, as the T70's lack of symmetry and half turbines fuck with my OCD something aweful.

>>49284509

Vader... or now Old Man Han, possibly.
>>
>>49279187
A couple things.

First, there's no real information or anything that really transitions the group to the Space Port Control section (Encounter 4), it just sort of assumes the players are already walking by it/towards it after the Junk Shop (Encounter 3). You can remedy this by either having the cantina's bartender (at the end of Encounter 2) mention the ship has docking clamps on it and that they'd need to disable them at the Space Port Control or have the party overhear a random person (before or after Encounter 3) mention that there's a lockdown on docked ships or something that necessitates going to Space Port Control to get clearance to leave first.

Second, is Trex, the tougher-than-normal enemy the players will fight in Encounter 6. If you've got a group of 3 or more, you'll probably be fine without adjustments. With 2 players, you might run into issues if none of the players picked a more combat-focused character, in which case you might consider knocking his Soak and his Wounds down a little (maybe to something like 3 Soak and 13 Wounds).

Mission from Mount Yoda.jpg
42KB, 316x475px
Okay. So. Mission from Mount Youda. Right.

The Prophets of the Dark Side have a meeting on Space Station Scardia where Kadann says Trioculus was a fool and would never ever receive Kadann's Dark Blessing ever again. Then he gives a new prophecy about

When the dragon pack,
Perched upon Yoda's stony back,
Receives a visitor pierced by gold,
Then come the last days of the Rebel Alliance.

Then the Prophets scheme to find a way to destroy Trioculus' carbonite-frozen body.

The rebels hear word of this on their new Dagobah Base on Mount Yoda (the “stony back” formerly known as Mt. Dagger). The facility is called the Defense Research And Planetary Assistance Center (DRAPAC) which I guess is a research facility, and its has a Technical School attached and the Jedi Prince Ken is about to start studies there.

Some Duros arrive with news that the Empire is attacking their planet and stealing artifacts and polluting it because [Ham-Fisted Environmental Message]. The leader, Dustini, shows off a gold crown and gets stabbed by a trapped needle within because he's a goddamn idiot. The Falcon prepares to leave for Duro, but in the process of trying to say goodbye to them before the first day of school, Ken ends up stowing aboard.

1/
>>
>>49287570
2/2

MEANWHILE, Hissa and the Moffs recover Trioculus' carbonite slab from the Bespin Museum but before they can thaw him, Kadann and the Prophets capture them, pull rank on Hissa, and destroy the slab. Its a fake. Then they send Hissa to Duro with High Prophet Jedgar to deal with the true Son of Palpatine, Triclops.

After a dangerous arrival at Duro (in which Ken was found and him skipping school and stowing away and inadvertently fucking around with the Falcon's systems and nearly getting everybody killed is completely glossed over and forgiven), the rebels descend to the industrial waste-filled hellhole and fight giant beetles and discover tunnels leading out from an Imperial Asylum. Conveniently enough, escaping from there is the tortured form of Triclops, who is the Emperor's son and has a third eye on the back of his head. The Empire considered him “dangerously insane” because he was a pacifist, and he was relegated to the Spice Mines of Kessel for a time before Duro. Triclops rescues Ken from Hissa, and in their fight, Hissa's arms and legs are melted off by acid. Triclops travels to Dagobah with the Rebels, who treat him with severe paranoia, fearing he's an Imperial spy.

As far as an actual review, its to see Duro, I guess. Hissa's melty accident is actually kind of horrifying. Most of the book just feels like filler and setup for further plotlines. DRAPAC just shows up out of nowhere to validate a stupid prophecy. Ken is probably at his most insufferably Mary Sue in this. I blame the lack of Trioculus for what's probably the dullest book in the series.

When it comes to manning the guns of a ship in eote, does a single gunner control multiple guns or does each one need to be operated individually? Some list a number of gunners under the crew requirements, some list none at all. Also, some of the barrage-type actions require the gunner to select all weapons of the same type, but the rules say nothing about basic attacks except that no gun can fire more than once a round. It hasn't been a problem on our YT-2400 since we have a bunch of people that need stuff to do, but we are planning on acquiring a Consular-class C70 refit and I would like some clarification.
>>
>>49288929

I believe in the case of something like a consular, you can assume in the many, many people on the crew, you have a legit gunnery crew you can command, but if a PC is in charge of them, you'd roll off their skill (otherwise I think people normally use minion stats?).

In like, smaller ships "gunner" is usually a dedicated crew position like pilot because the crews are only at most a few guys out of relatively small crew, so one needs to know specifically that it takes 2-6 guys to man those guns. If you're captaining a Star Destroyer with thousands of crewmen, you can assume you have some assholes to be the gunners.

As for gunnery actions, theoretically you can fire guns individually, but a player only has so many Actions to go around, and once you hit a certain scale you really want to be using those actions to blast up your enemies real good.
>>
>>49288960
That's the thing though, the consular is listed in aor and the wook as having a crew of 8 or 9, it's really not that big.
>>
Hey /swg/, I have a NPC character concept that I'd like to run by the lorefags here.
The idea is a former OJO Jedi who's fallen to the dark side in his persuit of a fanatical vendetta against slavers and the concept of slavery in general. He's 100% dark side, but has no interest in traditional dark side stuff like the accumulation of power or actively trying to turn lightsiders, just horrific revenge 24/7. Essentially, he's the Punisher, but with force powers.
He's for an upcoming F&D game, as an underworld contact, possible ally and very dangerous potential teacher for the PCs.
I'd just like to hear if this is the kind of character that would fit in star wars, just generally, as my lore knowledge is not that great
>>
>>49288988

Well, she is a pocket cruiser. If that render is accurate, she only has the fore cannon and then two gun pairs each port and starboard. The Gozanti has a similar issue but IIRC that does actually list like, 6 guys to be gunners in addition to pilot, navigator, 1-2 loadmasters, etc.

Huh, okay, looking at it yeah, the Consular does not account for gunners in the crew complement. The Gozanti on the next page does... FFG is known to be weird with the ship stats sometime. I would assume that, barring dedicated gunners this is probably something the captain, pilot or one of the guys sitting in an engineer's chair can handle. Normally, I'm pretty sure a single person operates one gun at a time, unless you are specifically using one of the barrage actions, in which case you're coordinating a number of them. The Consular can do this because it's got twin light turbolasers ventral and dorsal on each side. Using just one of the guns at a time is just making a combat check with a vehicle weapon.
>>
>>49289064
Sounds good, but really make sure to dive home the point that he is a fucking monster just like the punisher. Doing horrible things to horrible people doesn't make you a good person, even if the net result is generally positive for the greater galaxy.

Also, read punisher max for some inspiration.
>>
>>49289082
>FFG is known to be weird with the ship stats sometime.

not only are they vague about this, but they also list various pods for the consular and never provide a stat block or elaborate on their abilities. They can be really vague sometimes.
>>
>>49289064
I think that would work within the lore, sure.
I also agree 200% with >>49289123 , though I'd also say that you should really do your best to make the players ask themselves if they really care about the terrible shit that this guy does, test their convictions. Star wars can be weird when it comes to a lot of technological stuff like automation. Even modern warships have all the various weapons controlled by computers and directed by only a few people. Most of the crew complements on star wars vessels are absurd considering their level of technology.

>but really make sure to dive home the point that he is a fucking monster just like the punisher
Oh, for sure. He's gonna decapitate people and mail their heads to their families and set prisoners on fire to make a point and all that good stuff.
One of his overarching campaign goals is that he's gathering an army of freed slaves for a plan to acquire a number of capital ships and glass zygrra (or however the fuck you spell it, the homeworld of that slaver race from TCW)
He's 100% hellbound and it's gonna be obvious, though not so much that the PCs would turn on him immediate

Well it's kinda obvious both exist, seeing as they are from movie material.

I just wanted to know what info do we have on them in nucanon. Are force pikes still as cool as the EU painted them, or just glorified stunpoles now that every cool non-lightsaber melee weapon seems to always be some sort of electrostaff derivation?

I just went 4-1 today in a tournament with this Ghost, beating two Palp Aces, a Dengaroo, and a Imp triple Aces list. Losing only to a TIE swarm that just would not stop rolling three hits unmodified. Didn't have to fight the torpedo boats today, though I've beaten triple scouts with it before.

Kanan: Title, ABT, Adv. Sensors, Experimental Interface, Kyle Katarn, Lando

Zeb: Title, ABT

Jake Farrell: VI, PtL, AT, fix cards

Yes, Lando. He's awesome when he gives the Ghost evades, and Kanan can use the focus too. Kanan just will not fucking die, and it's hilarious when a super-accurate Imperial three-die attack does one damage because you made him roll one less and then evaded another. It won't stop Lando from blanking on you at the worst possible times though, which makes it a somewhat unreliable build.

The whole build is based around nesting actions with Adv. Sensors, then doing a green maneuver to lose stress and get another focus.

It has its problems. It's really not for beginners. Your placement with the Ghost has to be impeccable, and you have to be able to get into the head of your opponent to get into range one. Also asteroid placement is goddamn essential. I've never played a list quite like this that was so dependent on setting up firing lanes in the asteroids.

You have only five maneuvers you should ever do, your four greens and then the k-turn. This is mitigated by you not really caring about bumping. Not taking at least two tokens is probably a death sentence. Also don't fuck up your 5-k and put yourself off the board. It moves the ship a long way.

Also stress control shuts it down hard, but no one is taking that right now.

Anyway it got me 4th and won me an ARC, so I'm pretty damn happy with it. I think the Ghost is going to be helped a lot by the new crew that's in the pipeline for Rebels. Seriously, they're getting like ten new crew between HotR and Wave 10.

That seems pretty helpful, especially the thing about Trex. It's only gonna be two players for sure right now, with maybe a third, so if it looks grim, I'll probably let them know and adjust, since everyone is briefed that it's gonna be a "let's learn the rules" thing rather than a full on campaign.
The piloting check sounds good. I presume one of them will be taking the smuggler so he seems like a good fit for someone who'd know.

The thing with designing a bad guy, is that the most memorable ones don't even consider for a second that they're the bad guy.
So to add in a bit of 'moral dilemma' for PC's is that they know he's up to some brutal shit, but maybe they also dig around and find out he's channelling back stolen funds to relocate the slaves in suitable housing, making sure they've got enough to eat etc. Then they have to decide if they're willing to take him out, they'll also cut the strings keeping people alive... the thing with the 'bad guy' is that he'll eventually start spiralling further downward as the dark side takes hold and taking out other 'associates' of the slave industry- regardless of how tenuous those connections may be.

That's when you beat the shit out of them with obligation, pick on their character's morality and hand out the conflict like its christmas presents.

Would anyone even have them by the GCW Era? They were referred to as 'luxury freighters' (which i guess translates into those shiny black trucks some rich americlaps drive) with a minimal production sale so I doubt they'd be seen outside of a Moff's collection or some eccentric rich merchants that liked the history of it.

The hulls could conceivably still be around. Though if anyone were still flying them the guts would be completely removed and replaced with modern stuff. Kind of like if you took a 68 Mustang, and made it a hybrid, gave it power windows, satellite radio, all that jazz.

It's at the GM's discretion, but I would say yes. You are flying under two different conditions, contending with atmosphere, gravity and other obstacles. It isn't the same as zipping through space.
>>
>>49290451
I just go by the thing being piloted. Fits the narrative nature of the game better.

I forgot something, I use the piloting skills as vehicle type skills. BUT you can up difficulty or add setback dice to represent having a harder time flying in an atmosphere. The pilot being able to shrug off if they're prepared (Skilled Jockey, etc.)
>>

>>49290648
>>49290693
>>49290697
I dislike them being separate anyway, it should be piloting ground and piloting Aerospace.

If we're supposed to believe that Luke could hop into an X-Wing because of his time in a Skyhopper then they better goddamn well use the same fucking piloting skill!
>>
>>49290731
Yeah that Luke thing is pretty much how I justify it. Same controls = player asking the GM if his character can use planetary for the checks (with some added setback and difficulty for certain ones). It's narrative play, so I think they just assumed people wouldn't be confused.
>>
>>49290451
Planetary Piloting is for piloting vehicles that aren't designed for leaving the atmosphere

Space piloting is for flying something designed to exit a planet's atmosphere and operate in space.

There are a heck of a lot more stuff to keep control of when you fly something designed to punch through the stratosphere and into space than piloting your dad's old busted up landspeeder
>>
Another idea for handling piloting is to let them use 1/2 ranks rounded down when making checks with the other.
>>
>>49290793
I always saw it as repulsorlifts vs actual ion engines.
>>
>>49290793
>>49290771
narratively sure, you just go with it. But lets say there is the following scenario. The PCs attempt to evade a foe by flying their YT through the rings of a planet. They'd be planetary space test.

They don't lose all of the persuers so then they go down and try and run through canyons and valleys. Would that now use piloting planetary?

It makes a kind of mechanical sense. They are different. But not that different, let's be real.
>>
>>49290846
If it's still in the YT, it's always space. Save planetary for speeder chases. This game is all narrative, you just don't go with it. You play Star Wars as you see it in the movies, shows, books, etc.
>>
>>49290846

I always assumed that such maneuvering was meant to maintain a high relative speed so they're harder to hit in a big dogfight. For example, turning around in place and re-accelerating allows you to u-turn on a dime, but it's extremely predictable and you have to come to a relative stop before you reverse direction. It might not matter in a 1v1 situation, but in a real fight you would get picked off by a wingman if you pulled a manevuer like that.

>>
>>49291243
why?
>>
>>49291326
Normally when stuff from the side content makes its way into a film or something major it's as a side or background character or a relation. Ie. Temin from Aftermath is Snap from The Force Awakens. It's a small neat thing. This is like, an big big name actor playing a character that was previously a minor role in a minor arc of a kids oriented side show.
>>
>>49291017
Not that guy. But for me the thing that looks out of place is hat they don't change facing. In space, once you get some speed, why would you keep your thrusters pointing backwards? You could just yaw to any direction you needed to shoot at, like a drifting car, but without loss of speed.
>>
>>49291338
it's also a character who formed a resistance force opposed too a tyranical occupation.
Its almost to be expected such a person becomes important when another resistance force starts building opposing a similar enemy secretly lead by the same bad guy.

important story characters usually get big actors.
>>
>>49291398
you want your speed to be changing too if you're aiming for hard to hit. keeping the power on and continueing too accelerate is an easy way for a pilot to do so.

if you keep you're main engines on while you turn you'll move in an arc.
>>
>>49291395
I think it's just style. I love that stuff and that's why I love BSG, but Star Wars is always classic dogfighting that just happens to be happening in space

It's a blast. Takes a bit of time to set up and play, we managed 3 hours with plenty of bantz all throughout.
>>
>>49292354
Why the fuck would you make this a dual sided card? Just make it an action. Like Marksmanship and lots of other cards. The flipping make literally no difference.
>>
>>49294649
Agreed, something like this would work better:

Action: Place one evade token on this card.
When defending against an enemy ship in your firing arc, you may spend one evade token from this card.
>>
>>49291238
Healthiest to treat anything outside the new movies as the same way the old canon treated the expanded universe: pretty much non canon unless they want to draw something flashy from it. I would place it as being pretty fucking unlikely unless episode 8 opens with Hux Flux getting spanked/lectured by mommy dearest
>>
>>49291238
I could see Rae Sloane showing up in Rebels since she's been in pretty much everything else that Kanan has been in, and more besides.

I kind of doubt that she's going to be in any of the movies unless they do more OT-era movies beyond Rogue One, though.

>tfw we'll never see the 181st bitch-slap the bloodstripes off the First Order's special forces pilots

Damn shame she's in Aftermath though. Everything else she's in is great.
>>

Well, maybe LFL and the story group can be cool for once, and salvage characters who appear in shitty novels, written by by authors who have no business writing Star Wars and would apparently be happier to angrypost on tumblr and yell at uber drivers.
>>
>>49294649
Could just remove the action header on the recharge side and change the wording to something like.

Active: When defending against an enemy inside your firing arc, add an evade result. At the end of the combat phase, if this card was used, flip this card.

Charging: At the end of the combat phase, flip this card.

Useful, but not usable multiple turns in a row.

It's for the best anon, they just would have screwed him up like they will with Thrawn on Rebels

>Thrawn on Rebels
I just want to know why the hell Rebels didn't go with solid red eyes. I get Rebels having its own distinct art style, but fucking with Thrawn's eyes seems like such an unnecessary change.

Friend?

Anyone actually have a readable copy of Savage Spirits? The one linked to is utter garbage.
>>
>>49296159
my guess is to better convey emotion/thought processes. also it may be possible that Thrawn came out looking too uncanny valley/odd without them when they animated it.
>>
>>49296100
It looks like a solid enough game, but I don't really care much for the business model of collectible games anymore and from what I've seen, I think I'd personally generally enjoy the LCG more (which I already have) anyways.

That's all there is so far.

Isn't that kinda the point?

I'm not disagreeing with you, but they studio may not have liked the look and changed it. I'm hoping they release the model sheet and we get some insight into the design process.

I don't mind the pupils, I just dislike the red mascara.

I don't think of it. I just have no interest in it whatsoever.

Kallus' original design actually had him being a Chiss. I want them Chiss Chops.

>Expensive heavy fighter, only 1 really good pilot but she (Guri) is really good.

Bullshit. It's an expensive ship, yes. But it's not a heavy fighter, or even a jouster or arc-dodger. It's its own class of brawler and knife fighter. The generics need help, but Guri and Xizor are both solid pilots, and require different playstyles.

If you want to run Xizor like a souped up Guri, take him with VI, Advanced Sensors, and Manaroo to throw him a focus.

>>49291238
lel of course SJWisney would turn 'evil old fucking white male' Pellaeon into a black woman.

>Pellaeon

Who?
>>
>>49296989
But why not just run Guri then? Xizor can be a decently tanky PS9 ship with FCS to make up his action efficiency, but his main draw is being able to reach PS9.
>>
>>49297410
No, his main draw is shrugging off damage and being a late-gamer. Access to PS 9 is just another draw. By running Manaroo with him, and kitting him out with Adv Sensors, you have a PS 9 ship with Advanced Sensors that can roll/boost with impunity, and will reliably have a target lock and/or focus token from Manaroo. Plus he'll shrug off damage with his ability.

But generally speaking, yes you kit Xizor out with FCS, or Sensor Jammer. Thr Advanced Sensor and Manaroo combo is just an alternative.
>>
So, if I wanted to run a jousty Scum list, would this work?

https://geordanr.github.io/xwing/?f=Scum%20and%20Villainy&d=v4!s!101:101,-1:16:15:U.71,U.112;212:188,-1:43:15:;104:170:17:-1:U.23&sn=Unnamed%20Squadron

I know, it's using a Scyk, I must be out of my mind.

>>49295028
Trailer for Rebels makes it look like the 181st is back though. In the 'Thrawn is scary and precise' shot, one of the interceptors has the characteristic red stripe. So, maybe not in the Post-VI era, but good chance we might see some of the old IR folks turn up again.
