Posted this right at the bump limit, so here it is again:

In EotE an Aratech 57-D Speeder Bike is 2,800 credits. In supplements the Gallis-Tech 48 Roller is 750 credits.

If I wanted a motorcycle that was the Speeder Bike but without the hover capacity (and perhaps nerfed maneuverability), what would be an appropriate cost?

I'm looking for a bike that has more encumbrance and passenger capacity than the roller, but at a roller price point.

Another way to put it: how much of an increase in cost to upgrade the stock roller to have a passenger and extra cargo?

It mostly has to do with the middle-man distributors. Consider this, then send them to the distribution warehouses (usually independant companies who hold an assortment of products from different companies, and sell them to local game stores or small chains. The local game stores (and big chain stores like Barnes and Noble) place their pre-orders in advance, and then receive the product within about a week of each other. And FFG gives them all the go-ahead to sell at a certain date, so as to not create artificial demand from stores trying to sell before the others.

GenCon was all FFG, no middlemen or retail chains, which means the profits they get for selling stuff is even greater than normal. GenCon is usually one of the last cons of the year that they sell merhandise at. Starting last year (or a few years ago), they stopped selling anything at PAX Prime. I assume it had to do with independant game store retailers being there, or simply because they just would rather hang out and enjoy playing games. But regardless, they had no store (again) this year, which means no Wave IX.

That sounds like a pretty fun Scum palp-variant actually. So every turn, a used illicit get's restored? I think it could work, with a cost in the 6-8 range it wouldn't break anything, although running it dedicated on Rigged Cargo Chute could turn ridiculous.

Anyone have any alternative game modes to X-Wing? I often play in large groups and my friends and I play something called "38". It's a free-for-all where each player gets exactly 1 ship and 38 points in which to make it. It's a bit of a story to how we got 38 points, but it's a really solid number as 40 is just too high and 35 too few.

>>
>>49227436
unfortunately no. I made this by fucking around with the files for the character creator. It's pretty easy to do.
>>
>>49227484
one quick tip is that the <KEY> tag in the vehicle's file is used to get the pictures that go with it. make sure the name is the same for both images and the <KEY> entry. If your custom stuff is not appearing , go to options in the chargen and make sure whatever source you specified is selected. Also, images must be .pngs.

I doubt they'd be of much use. We tend to be very, very casual, only two of us play remotely competitive, and we certainly don't bring that spirit to the game. It's really more about creative combos or creating overly specialized ships; anyone who tries too hard will probably be focused down.

Soontir Fel is far and away the most played pilot; there are more games with multiple of him than none. He's just so darn versatile and leads to fun combinations.
>>
>>49227793
What kind of campaign are you running? If it's noir, I dug the Stockholm Noir trilogy, and currently loving an LA Noire LP for example.
Have you read Synners? It's a really good cyberpunk book, could do stuff with implants and tech? Idk.
>>
>>49227822
Both of those sound really nice, thanks. It's mostly going to be a dark times following the jedi civil wars. I plan to have a somewhat pulpy adventure being the main part with plot points rooted firmly in noir ( the betrayals, intrigue, and lack of overarching meaning outside the immediate).
>>
>>49227995
Ok if you're doing Noir, Stockholm Noir might be a bit too 'modern' for your tastes, but stuff can be adapted (especially the 'wannabe royalty' subplot). LA Noire is LA Noire, a love letter to those films. There should be a Let's Play on YouTube with episodes titled "Lecture #" or something, that's the one I'm seeing.

And as to other non-noir things, the woman who wrote Synners also did Mindplayers, about mind-jacking (similar themes about mindplay) which is also excellent, and Tea From An Empty Cup which is more traditional cyberpunk. Neuromancer is a classic of the genre, but not sure what you can apply, slicing already is a thing. John LeCarre's books have a lot of spy tension in them, if that's what you're going for.

Have you read Discworld? It parodies a lot of genres and stuff, but it's got a lot of novel ideas, you could be able to crib something off of there (the Patrician could be a cool character for example)
>>
>>49228070
I read discworld a long long time ago however, an update is probably in order for myself.

However, an odd thing that I've noticed was that watching "The young adventures of Indiana Jones" was quite helpful as well as a few more documentaries about WW2 in general. I've been looking into historical media concerning WW1 and the Napoleonic Wars as well.

I'm probably going to give Mindplayers or Synners a read first as I'm more interested in exploring the force as a personal dive into something that should be familiar to anybody as well as playing with cybernetics and droid "mental" development.
>>
>>49228070
Also there was a Discworld Noir video game, I just remembered.
>>
>>49227803
I find Fel to he anything but versatile, as far as build goes. On the table he's flexible, and can always boost/roll/evade around wherever he wants to go. But build-wise it's all-PtL all the time, with Autothrusters and Stealth/Shield or go home.

Unfortunately however, that's a common theme with Tie Interceptors anyways. Carnor Jax is always PtL with thrusters+stealt/shield as well, but with even more emphasis on R1 (and for good reason). And Turr Phenir is practically married to Veteran Instincts, although his ability makes him more fun to fly (IMO).

Also look at that face, and tell me if she wouldn't be right at home in a Star Wars game.

I always interpret weird designs in star wars as being representative of the weird mentality of the species that designed it or had a hand in designing it. Like maybe there's a species that's used to having their cockpits gyro-stabilized relative to some imaginary plane in space, so they make something like the B-Wing as a weapons platform that obeys that mantra. I dunno.

If you have a target lock on a target, they cannot spend focus tokens or evade tokens to modify dice. They also cannot change the results. Its suspicious that it does not explicitly prevent your opponent from re-rolling the dice in question though.

Very odd.
>>
>>49229926

If you have a target lock on the enemy ship, it can't modify any dice rolls. This means any abilities that would let them re-roll dice, change die results or add die results don't work.

This includes but isn't limited to: focus and evade tokens, spending target lock, Advanced Targeting Computer, Sensor Jammer, etc.

The only thing that works is Palpatine IF he's on a different ship than the one you're locked on to.

Y-wings mostly, with a screen of whatever higher performance fighters I can get my hands on. X-wings, Kirhaxz, stolen TIE Interceptors, anything that can preform the interceptor/superiority role.

The exact fighter complement will depend on how well the unit has been doing. If we've been winning a lot and making some money then the fighters will be better. On the other hand if we're just scraping by then expect some uglies around to fill in the ranks.

Was thinking of trying Thane with Advanced protons R7T1 and vector thrusters paired with biggs to trigger his ability more often and use the r7t1 boost plus TL to get a hard hitting initial joust with the APT.

If I remember my EU lore right wasn't the AT-AT really unpopular due to the towcable trick that the Imperial Army didn't use them until Veers came along and showed them how it was done?

Principally I suspect by fielding them in properly supported groups.
>>
>>49239415
Yay. Just not with
blaster. Dorsal, TLT, or Autblaster is where it's at.
>>
>>49239469
Dorsal would be nice, but I'm not buying a Ghost just for that. TLT is great, but feels wasted on Kavils extra dice. I considered autoblaster, but maneuvering a space cow into range one seems tricky, is it doable?
>>
>>49239469

Kavil with Autoblaster IS pretty tasty.

Jesus I just realised you can give Kavil Fearlessness so with an autoturret you no longer have to worry about targets to the front of you.

>>49239567

It's doable. Range 1 is longer than you think.
>>
>>49239425
>Principally I suspect by fielding them in properly supported groups
Pretty much. Fielding AT-ATs without proper support is as stupid an idea as fielding anything else without proper support. The Battle of Hoth demonstrated that when, IIRC, Vader rushed the deployment. In an ideal situation, Blizzard Force would likely have deployed the AT-ATs after they'd established air supremacy, and established a decent buffer of more expendable ground assets.
>>
>>49239599

Well, in fairness, Darth was right to do that, two transports had already gotten clean away and he needed to try and capture as many troops and personel on the ground as quickly as possible.

Plus, that was why he took Veers in the first place, if there was one man who could make a landing that rushed work it was him.
>>
Hi /SWG/, I'm gonna be DMing for the first time soon in EotE and was looking for some advice.

What's the best way to collect and keep track of all of the possible items/weapons players can find/buy? Is there a resource somewhere that already has them all listed out or do I have to help them pick through all the books?

How tacky is it to being in canon characters into the story? I wasn't thinking anyone to major, just a chance run in with Hondo somewhere down the line.

Finally, how overpowered are the inquisitors in F&D? I don't plan on the throwing them at the party for a long long time but would a fight with two of them at the same time be way to much in almost all circumstances?

Oh and if someone has good stats for a Super battle droid floating around somewhere that'd be awesome.

Thanks in advance.
>>
>>49239581

Fearlessness doesn't completely fix it, as it requires you to be in the enemy's arc to trigger. As a 1-agility turret ship, that's something you're generally trying to avoid.
>>
>>49239684

Oh yeah, that's true. I wish there was a way of giving multiple Scum Y-Wings Elite slots, a pair of Hired Guns or Syndic Thugs with Title, Auto Turrets and Fearlessness would be hilarious.

I mean, you'd lose all the time, but it'd still be fun.

With EU and unhinged a ywing can get itself around. Vector thrusters will probably be another good option for autoblaster ywings

http://swrpg.viluppo.net/

I don't see a real issue with using canon characters as long as it's not poorly done (character acting how they normally wouldn't).

FaD Inquisitors can be pretty powerful, but it all boils down to both how you make them and how combat-oriented your players are. But against typical groups who aren't above 200-300xp, and using the suggestion to give them a second turn each round of combat, they're still fairly formidable.
>>
>>49239567
Give Kavil Engine Upgrade or Vectored Thrusters if you go with Autoblasters.

TLT is actually not a waste on him. You end up with 4 dice out of arc, which makes Autothrusters less likely to negate the damage, and puts 3-agility ships into the realm of potential targets. Not even Fel enjoys trying to shake off 2 shots at 4-dice each.
>>
>>49239670
Canon characters would be fine if it's minor stuff, just someone with a name to go "oh it's that guy", rather than having Leia or Sheev or whomever interact with a bunch of (probably) nobodies. But if I were a player I wouldn't mind running across some minor-but-there guy. Think "guy whose arm Obi-Wan cut off in the cantina" or "X-Wing pilot retconned to be alive" rather than Jabba or Luke.
>>
>>49240279
Unless 2 players go before the Inquisitor, the first one gets a crit that prevents him voluntarily spending stress and therefore preventing any more parry, and then the second player downs him. Poor Inquisitor didn't even get to go.

- There's an index which is mostly updated, only from official materials though, but you can use that: http://swrpg.viluppo.net/

https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/223206-mackenziehnc-brand-new-shop-inventory-generator

This is also an excellent idea, just need to make sure to keep tabs on it, as it's only going to be as updated as the author deems it to be.

- It's not tacky, only if you make it tacky will it be. I think it's fine, but remember... your PC's want to be at the center of attention, otherwise why are they playing? But bringing characters in and tying them to the main characters from the movie is a good way to involve both. I'd recommend seeing how Shadows of the Empire tied Dash Rendar with Luke Skywalker.

- Unless you have people who are force sensitive/trained in the force... it's going to be a right tough challenge.

- I think you can look through some blogs, or try and take some resources from regular battle droids and just beef up the stats. If you find them too weak, then buff them up with bigger stats... and if your PC's notice, just shrug and go "Upgrades".

The perfect reasonably-priced fighter for the average consumer. It's economical, easily modified, easy to learn, practical, fun to fly, decently powerful for a civilian/Outer Rim pilot, and benefits from ubiquity of parts. The Mk I's swing-wings are the sort of things that grace the posters of every young boy's bedroom walls. Unlike the TIE/LN, it doesn't need proprietary landing setups and unlike the T-65 or TIE Advanced, it's affordable. It gives hope to aspiring pilots the same way old Mustangs gave hope to aspiring petrolheads.

In short, it's the perfect blend of muscle car and hot hatchback.

I always thought the cloakshape was the reasonably-priced fighter for the average consumer, especially with all the aftermarket upgrades you can slap on it because of it's modular construction; including a hyperdrive sled.
>>
>>49242043
Either works, really. I mainly go for the Headhunter due to its ability to mount internal hyperdrives (easing parking), larger boot, higher maneuverability, more attractive design, and natural progression from the Incom Skyhopper. The fuckloads of modded Headhunters in Legends also point to the Z-95 being just as modular. Plus, given its ubiquity and the piles of Clone Wars milsurp lying around, the Headhunter likely has a better supply chain.

Did the shield generator prevent air support? My assumption was that it was mostly useful for defense against capital ships launching bombardments from low orbit.
I figure for the same reason they were keeping their air support in reserve in order to pick off the rebel transports as they escaped from beneath the shield dome.
>>49239008
IIRC, Legends had it that Davin Felth (the Storm Trooper Obi-Wan mind tricks on Tatooine) was demoted for pointing out the critical flaw in the AT AT and coming up with an easy defensive solution (just make the AT AT crouch down and fire on your opponent like an emplaced anti-air gun).
You can easily assume after someone successfully demonstrated the cable trick, the Empire started instituting that as standard practice.

For starfighters? You've got the "main 4" rebel ships. All the Ties worth considering that weren't just goofy one-offs (minus the Avenger, which could be substituted). And Scum fills in many of the gaps in-between with shit like G-1As, Kihraxz, and even the esoteric Starviper. A lot of shit can be proxy off of something else's dial, and/or given custom stats. The light freighter, "large ship" list could always use some bulking up. But again... proxy and custom stats will take you far.

>I figure for the same reason they were keeping their air support in reserve in order to pick off the rebel transports as they escaped from beneath the shield dome.
Shield generator fields block ALL crossings at high altitude be they missiles or landing craft, closer to the ground they generally just fry anything not grounded by legs, wheels, or treads and otherwise tend to fuck up repulsorlifts.

So it's hypothetically possible they could have bodged together a lander and a trailer to take TIEs and airspeeders across the shield gap given time. But they'd be crossing on low to no power in the cold.
>>
>>49242430
Not inherently bad, some changes I'd make:

Drop the weapons liaison on the AF. They do nothing. Change the redundant shields to ECM. Much better card.

Generally people like Admonition more than Foresight, but they're both good. Also seriously, find some points for ordinance experts. You need them on a MC30.

Slaved Turrets, just no. Salvation or Yavaris is much better.

Your squadrons are probably fine overall. Just keep in mind for the cost of Wedge and Luke you can take three generic x-wing squads, and they'll still take forever to kill with Jan.

I recently ran Nym and he's great with bomber command. Keep him away from enemy squads though. Two blues suck.
>>
>>49243936
As fun as it is, at least I wouldn't want to pause an rpg to play a wargame for 2 hours, especially since there would probably be a few players not involved. Not to mention having to get models for everything you'd want to introduce.

Exception would be if the whole party was ace pilots in some sort of starfighter-focused campaign.
>>
>>49242430
Also with all those evade defenses you have, at least consider Mon Mothma. She'll make your ships survive much better in the first place, rather than letting them shoot after your dead. She's also great with Foresight.

>>

Nah, you just can't get stuff through the top of the shield for direct landings, (Note that Veers called in Vader's extra landing party as the shield was about to go down but before the Ion cannon was down.)

It has less to do with the ship itself and more with the illicit upgrade that comes with it (Scavenger Crane?) that is rumored to allow you to take an upgrade from destroyed enemy ships.
I doubt that it would be good for Palpatine shuttles since you need to kill the shuttle first and I don't think it will allow you to take crew upgrades anyways, probably just modifications/system upgrades.
Although it would be cool if it allowed you to use modifications that you don't normally have the requisites for.

There *are* planetary shields in Star Wars right? I thought that was basically the point of the Death Star, you can do significant damage to a planet with a group of capital ships but the Death Star has a laser strong enough to punch through a shield and destroy a planet in a single shot to boot.

Defensive only counts for melee defence, Deflective counts for ranged defence, Armour defence counts for both and I think it stacks. Your charactor's defense does not stack with cover but rather uses the highest value of the two, in a similar vein when wielding two weapons with defensive then you use the highest value of the two. Either a huge ship, something related to Rebels that they're not allowed to announce until after a certain episode airs; or both. If it ends up being both, then the ship might potentially be one they'll use for the missing SWM20 for Armada as well. Probably Thrawn-related is my guess.

Eh, everything sets the FFG forums off to be fair and they weren't that mad about Arcs (probably because everyone loves Arcs)
You know I used to be all for pre-GCW ships and factions in X-wing but after thinking about it I would almost prefer it if they got their own spin off game with different mechanics and larger standard size for fights (due to the nature of the setting). Maybe they could some way to implement force powers since all of the Aces from the clone war era would either be Sith or Jedi. Also a fundamental difference between how the separate factions would be a cool way to separate it from X-wing.
I don't know I'm not a game designer.

Except for the N1, and the royal ship, I agree with that. The N1 I dislike because the R2 unit has to decapitate itself. It's a victim of Lucas having too much control over ship design, and not listening to the designers when they say "this won't work".

Scimitar Assault Bomber. I feel like without nu-canon we would have gotten it eventually too, since it shows up a fair bit in the Thrawn books. Now I doubt it, and the Punisher is basically the Imperial bomber with boost now, which is I imagine the niche it would fill.

Still would have loved to have gotten it though, it's been one of my favorites since I got the Essential Guide to Starships back when I was like 10.

I found one on the BGG website once. I'll write it out.

Free For All Deathmatch:

>Play Area:
standard 3x3
>Initiative:
Everyone throws 3 attack dice. Most hits and crits takes initative, second highest goes second, ect. Initiative stays the same the entire game
>Obstacles:
6, which stay during the entire game
>Set up:
Players choose 1 board edge. The entire game, that player will enter the game on that board edge
>Factions:
Players choose 1 faction at the start of the game. They only play ships of that faction for the entire game

Players start with 15 squad build points.
When your entire fleet is destroyed, you gain 5 squad build points.
When you destroy a players entire fleet, you gain 5 squad build points.
At the end of each round, check if anyone has 100 (or any other agreed upon number) squad build points. If so, they won. If not, another round starts.
If you fly your own ship off the board, you loose 15 points. (to prevent people suiciding and denying points)

Well, they're clearly feeling pain at the beginning of Return of the Jedi; to the point that Jabba had a torture droid and a whole torture chamber just built for droids, so yeah... droids to feel and get affected by pain.

Which is weird, because the thing we watch get tortured in RotJ is a mobile power droid. Why put pain receptors in a battery?!?
>>
>>49256219
Same reason you have pain receptors yourself - to warn you you are in danger of injury or death.

This makes a lot of sense for a mobile battery, because then it can shut down instead of overloading and blowing itself, your ship, and all the armaments inside your ship to pieces.
>>
I picked up Armada as a side game with the intention of playing imperials and proxying/borrowing upgrades.

In short empire goes after naboo, leia is there on a diplomatic mission and her, the Queen and a couple others are the only pilots available to fly some old n1s, cue n1 vs tie fighters battle, n1s come out ontop (just). Its in one of the recent comics.

I think you can look at average time-in-grade for United States and Commonwealth navy officers. Extrapolate how long it takes an officer candidate to go through all his schooling, whether that's Academy or public school and then Academy, and then use the time-in-grade to see how long it takes an officer to reach Captain grade, and whether it's actually Captains commanding Star Destroyers, or if it's just a courtesy title, like it is in the USN for the officers in charge of a ship.

Chewie (and Kyle Katarn that someone else mentioned) are much more co-pilots than actual pilots.
Not too familiar with X-Wing, but I can see the Force-sensitive daughter of one of the best pilots in the entire history of Star Wars, and wife to Han "probably gave her pointers" Solo being a very good pilot. Maybe not THE BEST pilot, but there's basis for her being more than just decent.
>>
>>49258928
I get that, but PS2 is decent. 8 is among the best in the galaxy second only too the likes of han or darth vadar. Leia is 5 or 6 at best.
>>
>>49259056
7. She's not a mechanic co-pilot, and not doom-guy who says he's not good at flying. 7 is where I'd put her. Probably one of the few reasons she didn't fly much, was because she was one of the main rebellion leaders and it'd be like putting Patton in the leading boat headed to Normandy.
>>

The way I have it organized is that Imperial class Star Destroyers fall into a sort of hybrid cruiser/battleship/carrier role. They're good for force projection and bringing Imperial will to bear against singular systems or worlds, and they're more than capable of handling themselves in a slugging match between ships smaller, the same size, and even a bit bigger.

Like, obviously you wouldn't want one against an Executor or Eclipse, but even if she's fighting a Mon Cal Star Cruiser or two, she'll either come out on top, or go down swinging brutally hard. Stuff like the Tartan, Lancer, and Raider fill out corvette, destroyer, and frigate roles in our IRL navies. Coastal interdiction, picket duty, trade inspection, etc. Victories are used for less valuable systems inside solid Imperial space, as consorts and escorts for Imperials in enemy territory, and for policing duties and whatnot, as second-line, older ships.

(Caveat: That's all personal headcanon supported by what I've read from what's now the EU (rip), as much as I hate the term, and you're free to make up your own or use mine, or ignore it entirely.)

Oh fair, like I said I don't KNOW X-Wings beyond the basics. Yeah if Han and Vader are 9, I'd ballpark her around 6 or 7 just on gut, especially if the skill is also supposed to represent general mind for tactics and not just "how good do they fly a ship" alone.

Aren't Rebellion era MonCal Cruisers kinda shit because they were basically converted luxury liners?

If they did a Leia pilot card and she was PS 7, that would be hilarious. Doubly so if they do eventually do that Resistance shuttle thing with old-lady Leia and she keeps the same skill.

Because Kylo Ren is only PS 6

New to /swg/. What's a good big-guy race that isn't a Wookiee? I want to play a >big guy but something other than space bigfoot.

The Lasat fit that criteria I guess, although they still kind of give off a bigfoot vibe

Pretty much my thoughts, although I lean towards 7.

Basically PS 1 is considered gutter trash pilot, pirate scum, fresh from the academy cannon-fodder, or the ship handles like a rabid Canadian Goose. PS 2-3 is the realm of "basic, run of the mill pilot who might be a low-end veteran". PS 4-5 is veteran nameless rank and file soldier, with 5-6 being named middle-rung pilots and all pilot droids (due to lack of instinct, and predictable nature).

7 and 8 are named ace pilots, with 9 being top of the fucking line Vaders, Wedges, and Hans of the galaxy.

Interesting thing to note about 7, 8, and 9, is how fluid that region is for a pilot's skill rating. Adaptability and Veteran Instincts adjusts those numbers (usually up)... With the value being worth less the higher you go. PS 9 pilots therefore gain very little by jumping up to 11, and are free(er) to grab skills like Predator or Push the Limit. Meanwhile PS 7 and 8 has a lot of incentive to bump itself up to "the big boys" level. So those three PS levels are more of a "pick your pilot/ability", and adjust their skill or take an EPT as necessary. For example, Vader and Juno Eclipse are PS 9 and 8 respectively. But Vader gets two actions, while Juno can adjust the speed of her maneuver... The end result, is it boils down more to what you want your top-ace Tie Advanced to do, as opposed to PS number.

That would be fitting for Darth Emo.

I believe so, but the Mon Cals decided to keep the basic lines of the ship (which I totally get, they're good looking, just not in the same league as Star Destroyers,) and redesign the insides from the ground up for war.

Yeah, 7 was my own thought too, but I went with the safe 6-7 based on what the anon said.
Also, that's pretty interesting about how it works out. X-Wing is getting more and more attractive.

Dunno if anyone plays though.

I've seen X-Wing in stores for months. The first time I saw an actual unboxed X-Wing mini was last Saturday.
I'm also having a hard time finding a fourth player for a SWRPG campaign (we'll probably just run 3+GM IF the third player is interested).

I should have included a "in my area" though, your point is fair.

X-Wing is very solid, and has experienced a meteoric rise in poularity. Some metas are toxic, but that has more to do with the players in that store/region than anything else. The game is really solid right now, and for the most part there isn't any one list that is objectively better than everything. You might here Palp Aces or U-Boats thrown around, but Palp Aces vary wildly and only have the Palpatine crew card as a common element, and triple U-Boat torp-scouts experienced a slight nerf and people have begun to hammer down solid strategies against them (Wes, Biggs with R4-D6, frontloading torps before them at PS 4, or diving within R1).

The game's really good!

I can tell, the rules read well, and I feel I have a decent grasp on at least how to play even after seeing a video or two, which is a good sign. Thing is, I don't live in 'Murica, and games here can be hit or miss. I'll ask around at the store tomorrow when I go, but I literally only ever saw an X-Wing mini last Saturday at the same store, by the guy who has a bit of every game (including Netrunner, which I also have only ever seen once)

Shitsux.

The good news is, it's really easy to learn, easy to teach, and it will draw people in just by looking at it.

Failing that, there's always vassal.

New bread, and I even waited to post it this time

>>49259825
Yeah, if it's cheap I could possibly convince a pal or two to get into it maybe, and see where that goes from there.

Ever since seeing there's no major proper app for it, I've been thinking about how easy it would be to make a Cockatrice equivalent for it

To be fair, even 'Murrica is hit or miss on tabletop gaming. Suburbia area tend to have a decent amount, and same with cities. But in rural areas and small town countrysides, there's fucking nothing but jesus-freaks and gun shows.

Got a question.

I'm setting up for a game where an Imperial Lieutenant gets promoted and gets his own starship to mess with the player characters, who are smugglers using the Krayt Dragon from the EotE Beginner Game.

I wanted to use the Vigil-Class Destroyer (http://swrpg.viluppo.net/transportation/starships/1240/) for the Lieutenant, to harass and make trouble (check cargo, random inspections, you know... asshole stuff); but I'm wondering if it's either not underpowered, where the PCs will be tempted to just try and kill it outright, or if it would be too hard to compete with and the PC's just get the feeling he can't be fought with.

I hesitated with going with an Escort Frigate for this reason, but this Corvette seems to be very close in stats to the Krayt Fang.

Any ideas or thoughts? Maybe a cooler way of structuring an enemy? I'm going to be using Herkin from the Beginner Game as the ongoing antagonist, but he's not the primary one. So I just want a ship to remind them of the Empire's problems, as well.
