So, here's my theory: Tzeentch plays Dwarf Fortress. Well, in actuality he's caught some Squats in the Warp, dropped them with little to no tech on a Warp infested planet, and told them to find their way off the rock. Basically, the Squats have to move from the Bronze age to the 40k level of tech, all the while combating Warp daemons, Madness, hostile enemies, and who knows what else. It'll probably take centuries, if they can even succeed at all, but the end result will be an entire civilization of Chaos Squats, eternally Paranoid, addicted to booze to numb the pain of life, and above all, stark raving mad.

Why are there so few stories about Chaos cultists/traitors instead of CSM. I mean the only one I can think of is from a Word Bearers story where a loyalist is slowly broken down and corrupted into a chaos soldier (even stated to be heavily favored by the denizens of the warp). Though of course they ruin it by having him an hero when he has a 'what have I become' moment.

No it's also in the "Tome of Blood" splatbook for black crusade. Also there's khorne specific rituals which involve you killing a bunch of people for their blood. Filling pits with it and offering it to the blood god for possesion or daemons. So you can of course spill more blood. Its simple nice and straight to the point.

While I enjoyed the thought of him being on a dragon, the initial enjoyment of that unique chaos dragon died quickly. for one the heads are just heads of the 3 gods' greater daemons. not a literal copy/paste, but still, not appealing to me.

I do like Archaon's new look though. pretty damn sweet. If I ever get this model I'll probably have him sitting on his horse, or some other random chaos horse.

The Blood Pact Gets Shit Done

Really, I like their lore better than vanilla Traitor Guard. Thing with the Blood Pact is they're raised from troops on Chaos-occupied worlds. Not even Traitor Guardsmen- born and raised heretics. The kinds of soldiers who were taught to fight for the Dark Gods on Day 1 of boot camp.

It's a terrifying thought.

Dorghar is a daemon, not a dragon.

His heads resemble those of Greater Daemons because Khorne, Nurgle, and Tzeentch each sent a one to try and make Archaon swear allegiance to their god alone. He killed them and Dorghar ate their remains.

The Blood Pact are a specific Chaos warband in the Sabbat Worlds Sector in Segmentum Pacificus. They serve as the private army of a warlord who has his own fleets. So it's not really a concern for them.

There's other warbands and Chaos armies based on a similar mold elsewhere in the galaxy - disciplined, professional armies from Chaos-controlled systems with a formal chain of command and military training. The Stigmartus from the Jericho Reach in the Deathwatch sourcebooks serve as a noteworthy example, but they're hardly a unique case.

Usually, if they're being raised and sent offworld there's a few possibilities - the planet is under the control of a Chaos warlord with a private fleet that comes to pick them up on occasion, or they hire the army out to other Chaos warbands as mercenaries. If they come from a planet where this is the norm, it's unlikely that another Chaos warband would just come and 'snag' some troopers up - the planet has a martial discipline and tradition in service to Chaos. They won't be pushovers, and some higher force (like an existing warband of some influence) had to come and impose this on the locals to get them started.

tl;dr Most likely, the planet is part of a small Chaos empire, and the rulers deliberately set this up to produce troops that are worth a damn on a regular and consistent basis.

yeah I know but its dragonic. though I didn't know that Dorghar ate the daemons sent to mono Archaon.
I still think it could've been more creative than three greater daemonheads. However, my thought is to have three chaos dragon heads slightly morphed towards those 3 gods, so it would've been more creative than I am regardless.

He didn't really change anon, all they did was give him a more complicated helmet and remove the cape. He was always a giant evil knight. He surprisingly suffered the least change ascetically. He just rides a demon instead of a horse now.

But yes, even in AoS the horse Archaon is not only better, but looks cooler as well.

The Archaon on a horse model was and still is probably one of the best made models in WHFB's entire history. Almost everything about that model, from perspective, size, base presence, pose, balance is pretty insanely perfect. Its hard to really compare anything to that model. Even in AoS a friend I know that plays it still uses that Archaon over the dragon monster because its so ascetically pleasing.

Nah mate, those are the Varanguard, the most elite chaos knights that make up Archaon's personal army.

Each one is literally a chaos lord stat wise and come in units of 3+.

While I might hate AoS's world, story, and simple as fuck rules these Chaos Knights are some of the most gorgeous chaos models I've seen in years. My friend just finished a unit of 4 as the four horsemen of the apocalypse and they look absolutely stunning, easily the best release of AoS so far.

I was more saying that the mounted Archaon is an almost perfect model, no matter what. That, even if they made a new plastic Archaon in the vein of its old style, it would probably never hold up still compared to that mounted version.

Just like how, even with the new and more recent Khorne Juggernaught Skullcrushers the OG metal lord of Khorne on Juggernaught is still considered a real masterpiece.

Those models are from a different time, before computer assisted model designing and a focus on larger being better. The way they design these models now a days they are only working with bigger scale models. Its why only the stardrake and drake riders are the good looking stormcast and the rest look so bland.


Its why the Stormcast range as a whole only works for a few select big scale models.

Same with Bloodbound, their marauders are as big as classic chaos warriors and the blood warriors are larger because of the detail.

The Fyreslayers are abysmally bad looking due to how small they are. They are naked slayers and already the detail still makes them look cluttered.

The Treemen look great, the small half tree woodelves though...

I've seen those models in person, they are some of the best GW has made in years, but they are also HUGE. They make the plastic Juggernaughts look small and dwarf the older Chaos Knights, which were the standard of good chaos back in the day.

GW is having an issue where they need to make the models larger to accommodate the types of details they now liberally put all over them. As a result, most of those older models that were able to find the balance between detail and scale are going to simply look better then the new ones with the exceptions of the larger kits, able to get away with more.

There's no point in doing that with fan projects, especially since there's no regular threads for the Hua Yuan or the Sanguine Shields anymore for you to take those concerns to.

Depends, Chaos Armor is fused to them a lot of the time and becomes almost a second skin. Sure the helmets usually are removable but the rest of the time their armor and flesh is usually mixed, especially in the artwork.

It depends on the level of corruption of the Chaos Space Marine in question, or what mutations they bear. It's a most of the time but not always thing, where with the Warriors of Chaos they are always, always stuck in their armor, no exceptions.

The Chaos Champions may have originally had children, but once you become a Warrior of Chaos you lose all the ties of your old life. That's how the lore goes. They're about the same as Chaos Space Marines, and in some ways they're worse since they are literally forced to keep fighting for the god's favor, since that is now their only purpose for existence.

Technically, for you to think one even exists depends on interpretation: has only one Sister ever fallen to Chaos, or has one Sister only ever fallen willingly to Chaos? More likely that Chaos itself (most likely the Word Bearers) would form a corrupted parody of a Sororitas Order from scratch, with much of the same trappings and equipment as their Loyalist counterparts but twisted to serve the Dark Gods. That way it also gives their martially-minded female cultists something to do, while the males are given over to the Word Bearers Legion for recruitment.

Personally the main reason I dislike it is the layout - sure, technically I could go back and look at everything I've ever reblogged or liked, but it's a hassle to. If I miss a few days of content, I could scroll through, but it's not as easy as looking on a 4chan archive. Not to mention that it seems to go out of its way to avoid letting you share anything offsite - splitting things into smaller pictures, tiny gifs, relying heavily on video links which aren't easy to share like webms...

It's not the worst site - even things like the community can be ignored more easily than 4chan's culture - but it's not a site I'd recommend solely for how frustrating it can be to try and work with.
