People say it gives you magical wisdom, but it really just makes you healthier and immune to poison. Anyone who avoids dying in battle or getting shanked (and then can rely on the ring to protect them from poison and gout) is probably just a wise ruler in the first place.

These are literally the only things that would make them useful to me. Now if we're talking viper summoning then that's actually useful for more than just meat. Nothing deters a bandit quicker than a face full of angry venomous snake.
