I agree... but there was never anything definite about it. If he got initiative or passed his luck roll, he probably would have won the fight. He knew what he was getting into and went in, anyway. So really, if you're not supposed to put him in THAT situation, when do you take over his character because he's putting himself in unreasonable danger?

THEY didn't. He was on their ship and was beaming over to join them. I told him that, as soon as he was done with chargen, he could beam over. He opted to beam into the room with the Klingon rather than safely behind the door.

He outranked the transporter officer so he could tell where he wanted to land... but I can't recall, after all these years, whether or not he had asked the Captain...
