Inspired by the Space Marines vs Space Marines: who would win thread.

The Christian God, as featured in the Bible
vs.
1 full chapter of Space Marines, from Warhammer 40,000.

Who would win?

>1 Chapter of Space Marines

No, absolutely not, God is literally omnipotent and omniscient

>Ultramarines

Cato Sicarius kills Yaweh with a Vortex Grenade.
>>
The whole of human endeavor in 40k has been a single doomed quest to thwart the Chaos Gods, and they aren't even omniscient (except maybe Tzeentch, but he's so distracted by all his keikakus that it makes no odds). How the hell is one chapter of Spazz Morons going to beat He Who Is Called I Am when the sum of humanity's efforts can't even put a dent in so much as one of the Chaos gods?
>>
>>48938278
How was it that Draigo smashed Slaanesh's shit again? There's definitely successful precedent for fighting gods
>>
If it's a Black Library book, Space Marines.
>>
>>48938355
The Chaos Gods are actually held at bay impressively well in-universe considering they've tried time and time again to invade and are always fought back. You can't dent them because they're made of humanity's own reflection in the warp, however.
>>
>>48938369

Slaanesh is not omnipotent.
>>
>>48938465
Yep but in the Book of Judges Yahweh couldn't defeat iron chariots, so what's he going to do about Rhinos?
>>
>>48938508
>METAL BOXES?
>>
>>48938523
So all we need is to run a Gladius, right?
>>
>>48938508
This.
God talks a big game but he isn't shit.
I think a single space marine would be enough to rek him.
>>
Even god recognizes the Codex Astartes as the ultimate book, and sees Marneus Calgar as his spiritual liege
>>
>>48939128
God did try to kill Moses but failed, but I'd argue he still has a good chance of taking out an average space marine
>>
>>48938508

In the book of Joshua, he does defeat iron chariots.

Clearly he can and just didn't feel like it that day.
>>

>Clearly he can and just didn't feel like it that day.

A major part of the Bible is "I'm going to help you out, but I'm not going to do everything for you. You gotta put in the work."
>>
>>48938278
>No, absolutely not, God is literally omnipotent and omniscient
Not in canonical books. YAHWEH is clearly below greek gods level in the old testament, omnipotence is all later kabbalist and christian fanwank. By 40k standards he is a minor demon prince, nothing out of the possible reach of space marine chapter.
>>
>>48942041
He was clearly stronger than the Egyptian gods, and it's a major asspull to try to put them on some kind of powerlevel scale with the Greek gods. Assuming you're not discounting Exodus as 'non canonical'

no, the other anon is dumb as shit and either didn't read or completely misread.
>>

Are you talking about Israel (lit. "He Who Wrestles With God") formerly known Jacob?

The fact that God even took a physical form and fought Jacob hand-to-hand shows that he was handicapping himself for that fight. If he really wanted to kill Jacob he would have just struck him down from above.
>>
>>48942041
>YAHWEH is clearly below greek gods level in the old testament,

God literally created the universe in the old testament, then destroyed the world with a massive global flood at his whim. He annihilated two cities in an instant, and he commanded an animal to literally swallow a man whole and then spit him out exactly where he needed to be.

As >>48941983 pointed out, a major part of Christian and Jewish teachings is that while God will help you, he won't do everything for you. The Lord helps those who help themselves.
>>
>>48942934
Yeah, making a planet and flooding it and shit. Cool.

The issue is: 'YAHWEH' is essentially a tribal god who was worshiped by half a planets worth of population, at most. Meanwhile, the Chaos Gods, on the other hand, draw power from the very things that make people 'people' from every species in the galaxy at the very least.

Yeah, making a planet is cool and all, but scale wise he's still very small.
>>
>>48942934
>The Lord helps those who help themselves.
That isn't in the Bible, you know.

A big part of Christian teaching is actually NOT to rely on yourself above God. God helps those who ask Him for help.
>>
>>48943044
And ? It's not god vs the chaos gods but god vs a space marine chapter
>>
>>48943127
>That isn't in the Bible, you know.
It actually is
>A big part of Christian teaching is actually NOT to rely on yourself above God.
You do know christians do take into account the old testament ? And they are several instance of god telling mortals to not rely on yourself above god, but not to bother him for stupid shit either
>>
>>48943330
What if we asked god who would win in a fight, a space marine chapter or him?
>>
>>48943330
>It actually is
Name the verse. It isn't in there; the adage originates in ancient Greece.
>>
>>48942610
>>48942802

He's talking about Exodus 4:24-5. God "meets" Moses and tries to kill him, so his wife Tzipporah circumcised their son and presses the foreskin to his feet, which apparently saves him.
