The wind is blowing.

A cool breeze from the east flies over the heat and dust of the Gerudo desert, and with it one could almost hear the fluttering of flags and the march of feet and hoof. A fell wind with fell tidings for the female warriors of old Gerudo Fortress. For many weeks now the tidings of war have come from the east, and the Kingdom there. A mighty army, a "Crusade", bent on conquest and spoils. Proud and unyielding the Gerudo prepare to defend to the last warrior, but there is hope.

The young gerudo prince, scarcely a lad, on whom the hope and faith of the Gerudo people lie. Every hundred years, a boy is born to the Gerudo females, and the prophecy states it is he who will lead the Gerudo "in a time of great darkness and peril", a man destined to conquer his enemies. The Gerudo look to their prince, and pray to the Sand Goddess to bless them in battle.

The wind is blowing. Now fate will make its play.

Fluff: Alweir is a premier wizard within the kingdom of Hyrule, though, not the best wizard. Or the most wise wizard. Instead, he is mostly known for his command of history: he knows things that nobody seems to know for reasons that people aren't exactly sure of. Some people doubt he is truly a wizard -- wizards usually don't deal in history. Rumors, persistent rumors, suggest he might not even be a Hylian. But those are rumors -- just rumors. You are Pax Lombardi. Another farmer in a long line of uneventful farmers, you were called by your Lord along with several other men of the village to Levy. After but a few weeks of training and outfitted with simple armor, shield, and spear you have marched long and hard to this unforgiving desert, with promises of spoils and foreign women. The men make merry at the thought of swift and easy victory, as could only be promised by such overwhelming numbers. The men around you sing songs and brag of bringing treasures to their wives, their children, or of single men taking a "a warrior women home to bed". You wonder what you have left at home.

Alweir the Arbiter. Though you align yourself with Hyrule, and pose as a Wizzrobe, you hold a secret. Ages ago, Alweir the Dragon, bent on an agenda known only to him, used his great Draconic magic to cast a spell upon himself, giving him the form of a human. Alas, Magic is not an exact science, and currently this form is locked and he does not know how to voluntarily get out of it. With what magic he does instinctually have and a surprising gift for tongues, Alweir has weedled himself through the Hyrulian aristocracy and nobility. His willingness to dive into Hyrule culture affords him well in earning friends, but many true Wizzrobes are suspicious of him, for he does not follow their strange way. Fortunately for him, his spell and clothing is enough to create the illusion of being one and hide even from their magical eyes.

For now.

[Bonus] A dragon in sheeps clothing - You are not a true Wizzrobe. Indeed, you are not even Hylian. Dragons are inherently magical creatures, and while you do have access to it you are neither truly trained in it nor in the manner that the Wizzrobes control it. Your human form does benefit from added strength, though this is greatly diminished from your locked true form, but you have total resistance to fire and heat.

Yet another peasant levied by their lord for an army. Bob's hardwork both making and carrying pots gave him strong arms, and as such his Lord deemed him appropriate to become a levy archer in his army. Alas, the life of a potter who cares of his work is not a peaceful one. Throughout all the many cultures in the world, Pots are prevalent. It is the longstanding belief that placing small amounts of rupee's in pots can be used to bribe or ward off evil spirits, who would try to take what was within them. Others tend to place more stranger items like arrows, health potions, or other items, either to have them in handy or simply because it is the fashion of the day. Naturally, the more unruly persons of the world have a notorious tendency to smash them. If anything, however, a potter never goes hungry and will always have business.

Zwilli Tenstep. No Gerudo ever begrudged another for taking what was necessary of the outsiders, as was wont for the Gerudo race as a whole, weather it was rupees, supplies, or even men to sire their children. That may or may not be a contributing factor to the crusade they face now. Doubtless, Gerudo do not take kindly to being robbed themselves either by outsider or kinswoman, and so Zwilli Tenstep, caught redhanded, was pressed into service both as reprimand for her crime and because almost all women of fighting age were gearing up for it anyway. What will the young rogue will do during this time?

TURN 1
>To all Hylian players
You have marched long and hard on your way here, as your captains order you to finally rest your feet and set up camp. There, on the horizon, lay tall mountains divided by a narrow path that crosses a single bridge over the river, and beyond that Gerudo Valley.

The sun is low in the sky as night gathers, and men start up campfires and get pots cooking for food. The captains order you to rest well and eat hardy, tommorow we cross the bridge. There may be some resistance there, but it will be light and easily overwhelmed. During this time, the fresh conscripts and recruits relax, there's been a continuing air of laxness in the entire army, coupled with overconfidence in numbers. The men continue to chatter and mingle, and get to know each other.

>To Gerudo players
Nearly all warriors of Gerudo from the lowest child to even the aged, prepare for war. Children who are strong enough to hold a knife are trained, and also help ferry supplies and help dig in defenses where they can. The Elderly prepare pots of medical herbs, prepare beds for the wounded, ensure the stocks of food are supplies are ready. All warrior women are on constant alert, on patrols or in intense training, preparing themselves for war. The numbers are discouraging, but pride and their faith in the Sand Goddess dictates every warrior prepare to fight for their lives.

There is word the Prince is calling for a select group of elite warriors, fighters who will need to be skilled in sneaking and hiding but also fighting.

1. Alweir starts his usual examination of items that the army recovers during the campaign. He is not terribly interested in the army, but the amount of loot and theft they engage in brings him any variety of magical items to examine. Once done, Alweir does his best to secure items from nearby traders, beggars, urchins, and the like.
2. During his free time Alweir practices his 'fire blast' with the rest of the Wizzrobes. He isn't terribly keen on the rest of them, but they need some serious help in their training if they are to avoid an arrow to the face. [Train: Fire Blast]

Your father pressed for you to be trained since you were but a boy, though you were no coward nor lackwit, you've got a long way to go to even approach some of the deeds your forefathers have done.

Your father wishes you to be a cavalryman, as he was, and as such this option of being trained as one of prestigious Hyrulian Knights on horseback is open, though other options such as being a footsolder and more lie open to you thanks to your name.

However more importantly, he has a very strong sense of hearing, able to pinpoint exactly where and when someone breaks a vase, the type of vase, and what was probably inside that vase from many yards away.

1. Bob found himself in quite an awkward situation. While he had indeed been given quill and arrows as he was announced an archer he had not even received a bow! But alas he would simply have to forge one from clay, burn it and find a decent string. Thus he would have his own magnificent bow.

2. Bob was not a great archer. In fact Bob was average. If average was being unable to hit a barn door when standing in front of it. Quite frankly he was horrible. But as every good Potterer he brought his craft wherever he went and while he had already been working on his own bow he had quite an interesting idea for his arrows as well.

Surely the more experienced and violent Gerudo fighters had shields and would no doubt be able to deflect his arrow. But what if his arrows were not meant to pierce in the first place?

He would craft a hollow arrow head and fill it with oil. Then Bob could wrap a piece of cloth around it that he would light on fire shortly before shooting. The arrow head would smash onto the shield and burst open, spraying the enemy with oil and hopefully igniting it in the process.

Or at least that was the theory.

1: Hells. Hells, hells, hells, why'd they have to start recruiting now? Of all the bloody times, as soon as he agrees with his father to join the damned army, they start getting ready to go to war. What, is his family blood a good luck charm for the Hyrule military or summat?

1. Suffice it to say, looting and theft was heavily discouraged while the army was yet in Hyrule, and not in enemy lands. But thieving is as old as man itself, and whenever anything of importance was found by army inspectors it was hastily confiscated and then re-commandeered for the army.
Through your influence, you were able to purview this hoarde with the express purpose of finding any magical items in the random piles of junk. You do find a few items of note, of which were freely given:
-Bottle of Red Potion
-Red Candle
-1 Ice Arrow
Speaking with traders and urchins, they tell you that Gerudo itself is legended to be full of hidden caves and caverns with dungeons for treasure, and that the Gerudo Fortress itself boasts a great vault filled with items.
2. There are only a handful of Wizzrobes, you yourself, and three others. Each of them don't exactly trust you, though they are impressed by your skill at fire blast. One laugh's at your jest that they could not dodge an arrow, showing his skill in short space teleportation, something even the novice Wizzrobe could attempt, and asks you if you have learned of it. Doth thou even have any other skills besides fire? Great Fire Blast 4/8

1-2. Bob ponders on his situation. An archer with no bow very well couldn't use the quiver of arrows given to him. As he considers just exactly how a bow could be crafted from clay, low and behold a stroke of mysterious fortune. A wizzrobe walks past, and drops behind him a small sack. As bob picks it up he turns to see the Wizzrobe vanished before he could alert him.

Within this sack, he could hardly believe his eyes. Clay! He poured some in his hand, somehow the bag did not become any lighter...

An oven and a few hours later, he holds in his hand a Bow made of clay, and as he wonders what to do for string he motions an arrow to it as if drawing. Another surprise, resistance! As though an invisible string were already there.

On a roll, he comes up with yet another idea, and tries to strap a small pot upon an arrow. This too works, the pot seemingly lighter than it normally should be, even when filled with liquid. However, after making 3, he finds the bag empty sadly. Maybe it will be full again later?

Unlike the rest of the Hyrulian army, the Knights were far more prone to actually training and drilling and practicing. That aside, his command of history gives him a reasonable command over the present: weaknesses, strengths, advantages, tactics -- all belong to him. The sun sets into darkness, as masses of drunken conscripts and soldiers are heading to bed and lazy patrols, the Lancers decide to train on the offchance there is ever the need to perform night attack. The training dummies have already been set up on the field by squires. It takes some practice and some failures on part of the novices, including Lossin, much to the amusement of the knights, but eventually Lossin proves adequate to hold his bearing and smash a straw target with his practice lance. His father's own training has helped in this regard.
+Weak Lancer

His horse, however, proves a bit more unruly for him. As on another pass around, a wild animal bursts from a nest startles his horse, and Lossin struggles to calm the beast. He tries valiantly, but in the end is thrown off and on his back and dragged some feet on the ground by the stirrups on his feet, again to more amusement by his comrades. He manages to loose his foot from the stirrups and whoa his horse to stop before it could run off.

As Lossin tries to back up off the ground he hear's hoofbeats and approach and looks up to see his Captain looking down on him, giving a hearty laugh and then speaking at you.

"Hey Ekloph's boy, ye just passed an important rite of training. How to fall on yer arse without bashing yer skull in. Get up back on your horse boyo, we'll still make a lancer out of you yet."

And so Ekloph get's back up, and gets ready to train some more.

Night time, and where as many soldiers are content to not do much until ordered to, you actively seek out current orders. You are to find either a patrol and join them, or stand watch at any of the posts and not fall asleep on it. Simple enough orders.

Another option opens up after you press a bit further. That of guarding the supply wagons. Primarily these days from thieves within the army trying to get a little bit extra rations than they should.

Your impetus has afforded you some recognition by your infantry Captain as a resourceful soldier willing to work. That does set you apart from the majority of the other lazy lot.

1-2. The raiding party moves as night falls, the prince and his cadre of handpicked warriors following him through shadow and dust on their way to the enemy army. Zwilli studies the map. Many of these paths are already familiar to her, and she even knows of paths unmarked. Her lifetime of thieving and evasion has indeed been useful. There does present one problem, there is only one bridge across Zora's river, and though there are many winding paths to evade an enemy on both sides, they all converge here. If there is to be a problem, it would be there.

Still Zwilli studies the map the point she feels she wont get anything more useful from these maps... and her impetuous soul get's an idea.

She breaks off from the rest of the party, heading far ahead, where she comes to the bridge. There she spots the campfire of several Hyrulian soldiers, their horses tied and sitting. They're supposed to be on watch, instead she sees a telltale bottle in the hands of one who shares it with her comrades.

There is the occasional dust of wind that blows from the otherside of the river, and timing it just right, Zwilli rushes forward. As the dust settles, two soldiers lie gurgling on the ground, knives in their knecks. Zwilli retrieves their knives, tosses their bodies into the flowing river, and covers the blood with sand.

Zwilli stands atop an overlook, seeing the camps of the enemy from a high position. Sand Goddess preserve, she can't believe her eyes. Tents, tents as far as the eye can see, more tents than she has ever seen gathered as even as the Gerudo tribes were ever called together. Hyrule soldiers strew the field like the dusts of the dunes. Having a decent eye for things like this, she counts the enemy. Tens of thousands of them, hundreds of horses. She pulls out her map and draws figures on it. She does make out some wagon trails and wagons, and even suspects what she see's is the enemy supply.

---

Hours later, Zwilli returns, but the other Gerudo are not pleased. They think her a coward who ran away and came back.

It's only when she shows them her findigs and the ears of two Hylian scouts that they present her to Prince Ganon. He is thoroughly impressed at her findings.

"What's your name?"

"Zwilli. I'm a convicted thief, my Prince."

"A thief? Good. I need a thief. I want you to be my personal thief, understand?"

"Yes, my Prince."

"Listen up. Zwilli has scouted the enemy and marked their supply. We're going to go in, steal what supplies we can, and burn down the rest. We'll have to do this and escape before dawn's light.

Zwilli, you were the one who scouted the area and saw it first hand, so you'll be the one to guide us there."

The prince puts on his war mask.

Well you go to do just that, certain they all landed just behind that small hill where the tree is. Oh. . .it looks like it turns out your arrows were landing on a stream leading to the River Zora the whole time...

Bad luck. . .well, almost. A group of oddly clad knights approaches Alweir. They are lead by a man who claims to be a king from some minor kingdom allied to Hyrule, and seek the man who can "summon fire without flint or tinder."

They state they are on a quest to find a sacred magical artifact, and having heard you too are in search of ruins and traders for magic items, seek to join you and your cause.

You sort of get the feeling they might not really be knights...but you can't put your finger on why.

Up from the sea and lake hylia, towed by ropes up the river Zora, a tall thin pirate ship snakes its way up river. This is the recently infamous Charlitne, crewed by Captain Blackheart. A strange man, in what battles have been fought almost all the crew were taken prisoner or incapacited, and nobody died. Cargo ships were robbed, towns were burned, and other nefarious deeds done without bloodhsed. Captain Blackheart was good at what he did and how to get away with it.

Times were tough on the waters, as such was the season to retreat and hide in a crevice somewhere up the river. A place no one would suspect. Only by fortuitous circumstance had he learned of the great Crusade by Hyrule, the blasted Kingdom who's ships and sailors he had to evade, against the Gerudo peoples. And so, in the pirate manner, when offered spoils and gold by the Gerudo, he privateered for them.

He has at his direct command, his ship, and a motley crew of roughly two dozen or so able bodied men. Brigandiers of several races all brought for the same purpose, greed and crime.

His ship is hidden well, for now, but news report reaches the captain right away. For some reason, the Prince sent a runner at once who requested his ship be brought directly under the Gerudo bridge.

1. You and several other commanders easily set up concealed defensive positions for both your own archers, as well as warriors, ready to defend the bridge at a moments notice. Due to the terrain, it's not entirely possible to completely conceal your troops from enemy fire accross the gorge, but you've got a much better position than they do. All you have to do now is wait.

When the battle starts, you're going to have a good advantage on the poor souls who try to cross this bridge. Though few would recommend you trying to actually hold the bridge itself or the other side on the green valley of Hyrule.

2. Your skills have ideed rusted from disuse, yet the muscle memory still persists and though you are not as spry as you once were, woe befall any who think taking you down will be easy 2/6 Good Gerudo Halberd

Darknut philosophy places focus on the individual: if one soldier cannot master himself, then it is impossible for him to function in a group. Almost all the Gerudo look alike. Rumors persist around that, since a male is only born every 100 years yet somehow the Gerudo manage to sire more children, surely there must be /some/ way they reproduce. Stories of abductions or flirtations with hylian men have persisted for generations, yet none could prove anything, as the Gerudo all without fail share the same tanned skin and orange hair.

All but one. Meilouru.

She seemed to be living proof that there must surely have been some merit to the rumors. Her hair, rather than deep orange, is a tanned blonde bordered brown. Her skin, rather than brown like the sand, is more a tanned white like a peasant girl who works in the field. She was always different from her sisters, trusting them far less than even they wearily trust one another, but in turn, this has protected her on many occasions. And while she sticks out from her fellow sisters, but this gives her a great advantage in blending in with the Hylian populace. To which, she a traveler, has done often.

1. Meilouru hated the Gerudo Fortress. The place was filled with those that secretly hated her, and she secretly hated them right back, both parties often exchanging false smiles or nods of recognition. Even now, she wondered if they would spare her a bow and quiver of arrows, or even a dagger. Perhaps they would, if they believed it would lead to her death?

From given numbers and gross estimates, it is estimated that the Hylian crusader currently owns a 3-1 or a 4-1 advantage over the entire Gerudo army in terms of men. Cavalry does seem to be more even sided, yet Hylian cavalry tends to be heavier and more armored where Gerudo cavalry are lighter and faster, boasting a number of horse archer units of which Hyrule has none.

Only a portion of the entire Gerudo army is currently dug in on the opposite side of the bridge, as this was meant to be a delaying force rather than open warfare.

The Bridge itself is a rather sturdily constructed wooden bridge (a mix of both wooden supports and some rope suspension elements). It differs somewhat from the video game in that on the Gerudo side is a small open flatground which leads to a narrow road, surrounded by the hills, mountains, and rocks (Behind which Gerudo archers lie in wait) while the Hyrule side is far more open and wider.

Virini Alsov is having a pleasant chat with a logistics officer, and it seems he's about to gain access to yet more supplies. Then darkness.

His eyes open again, his head HURTS, as he see's figures moving about in the dark. As he gains consciousness he see's next to him the logistics officer and several other soldiers, some dead and some tied up and writhing.

But the supplies! figures cloaked in black are are pulling out barrels of food and meat, boxes of medical supplies, sacks of grain, weapons. Some load them up on horses which are quietly carried away. He even see's an entire wagon slowly, gently lumbering off.

Thieves! Oh thank the gods this was not your wagon. You can only watch and count the value of hundreds or thousands of rupee's worth of things being taken.

>You have been gagged and bound!

2. The ship moves silently up river through the night, only the occasional grunting of a sailor on the riverbank towing it up. Up in the gorge, the dark figures of gerudo scouts look down and on the horizon, no doubt there are more than cannot be seen.

The night is dark, clouds obscuring the moonlight and stars. And Captain Blackheart is utterly bored. So, he practices his swordsmanship, pulling out a cutlass and swinging it through the air.

Not as good as actually practicing against a live target, but the muscle memory is useful. He dreams and remembers some of his battles of old, parrying strike after strike before delivering an incapacitating blow, severing tendons, slicing through the eyes, or cutting off and arm or a limb if need be. Maimed, but still alive, with something to remember this was the fight they almost caught Captain Blackheart.

1/4 Good Swordsman

2. His training is interuppted by a thud, as he looks up to see not only have we reached the bridge but it would seem sacks, boxes, and a great number of other things are being hastily lowered by rope down onto his ship!

He goes to see just what they are, and looks closely at a box. The Hyrule Symbol!

So this was the boy prince's plan all along. . .Blackheart had better get a good share out of this!

From a young age, Noboru stood out among her sisters. Taller, stronger, she promised to grow into a mighty warrior, though not exactly fast. An impressive sight to behold to any who stood in her way, most Hylian's never imagined to be looked down by a standing Gerudo. She was proud of her strength. Pride comes before the fall.

Before she was old enough to pass her rites of passage to becoming a true warrior, she was waylaid by a gang of Hylian sellswords and mercenaries, who took her for their prize. For a slave. For nine grueling years they humiliated her in their hideout, mocked her strength through hard labor and did cruel deeds and whatever they wished upon their bound captive by light and by night. When Noboru's tears dried up, they turned into anger which boiled in her heart, as she waited. Waited for the right time. For them to slip up.

And one day they did. She broke free of her bonds, and a decade of pent up rage fell upon the brigands like the wrath of the gods.

When she returned, although her sisters welcomed her back and were proud that she had escaped, she was told she could never become a true Gerudo warrior. She had missed the rites, and the time was forever past.

No matter. With blood drenched armor stolen from the people who stole her life from her, Noburu is determined to never again let the Hylian's do what they did. Not for her. Not for any of her sisters.

But she shouldn't press her luck.

2. Meiloru arrives at the bridge, where she see's a scene unfolding. On the river bank lie warriors in hiding, while the river itself is a curious scene of wagons and supplies slowly being lowered onto a ship.

She didn't get the message, but even from a distance her eyes and deducation recognize instantly what's going on. Those boxes are not of Gerudo wood, nor did the Gerudo use covered wagons, therefor this must be enemy supplies stolen from the camp. The Bridge is being defended as an escape route for what is a raiding party on the otherside attempting sabotuer. The ship below the river gorge ought to be hired privateers perhaps.

Impressive planning on the Prince to have carried it out. hmm, and it would seem that convicted thief Zwilli had a hand to play in this.

Suddenly a Gerudo Commander angrily speaks to her in a low but firm voice.

>Alweir the Arbiter
2. Little need for training to summon flames did Alweir have, it was more as though the flames within him yearned and ached to be released, his form barely being able to hold them back

His fire blasts rival that of some of the great Wizzrobes of old. Alas, this is the limit his form can handle, as his human flesh and therefore the body he currently resides in, could get harmed

+Great Fire Blast
>You have reached the limit that you could self train this ability, without additional intervention

1. Alweir uses his skills to go around speaking to various nobility, princes, and lords, trying to find out the "Battle plan" for the Hyrulian army. Yet each person he asks the plan is so different. Some want to swarm the enemy with our superior infantry numbers. Others to crush them under the iron boots of knights. It's almost as if none of these nobles have even so much as gathered to discuss a proper strategy, and in addition, their reasons for the war in the first place all differ. Some say it's to bring retribution for the great insult the Gerudo have done by stealing able bodied men and thieving, others because of wealth and glory, yet still more believe in a religious aspect to fight off the Sand Goddess worshipers.

At last he speaks to what may as well count as the leader of the force, Prince Nohan Zaffosen, the charismatic young son of King Zaffos Grendelsen. He admits to you that not much of a great effort was made on planning, but he has full confidence it might not even be necessary. True Hylian superiority, the strength of our numbers and equipment, and the gods on our side will surely win the day and crush these pathetic forces. We outnumber them a poultry 4 to 1 after all. And with Wizzrobes like you blasting away at the enemy none can surely oppose us!

You remember that the Prince hasn't exactly fought in a war before, and that this would be his first. He talks of the glory this war will be on his legacy once he becomes King.

That aside, his command of history gives him a reasonable command over the present: weaknesses, strengths, advantages, tactics -- all belong to him. Given such knowledge he often finds myself within the upper echelons of the royal court -- his advice is sought after and demanded.

Somewhere, in the supply depot of the Hylian army, a lone Wizzrobe appeared within the supply tent. He needed a potion from the logistics officer.

Time seemed to freeze in that instant. In that still, unborn moment, the eyes of the Wizzrobe behind his mask was staring into angry orange eyes behind another mask. Just as the Wizzrobe was about to utter a word, the sound of the air being sliced by a great many things fast and sharp was heard.

A split second later, a Wizzrobe appeared in another part of the camp before several other Hylian soldiers. Confused, they watched as the Wizzrobe clutched his throat, his robes torn in many places, red seeping from his body. Red seeped through his clutched hands as he tried to gargle something for a few moments, before raising his wand into sky.

A bright, red flare shot up into the air before bursing in a deafening blast, before slowly hovering in the air over the logistics camp. Shouts, alarms, cries filled the air.

The camp was under attack!

Pax continued to talk idly with the old man, taking in more war stories. It almost seemed he was the first voice to actually sit down listen to him ramble on and on. The old veteran suddenly goes very quiet and looks up, you do too.

The air is filled with the sound of alarms and shouts.

"It's an attack." says the old veteran, almost calmly. "I'm going to gather the men, help me wake up the rest, we've got to get armed and ready to respond. Go."

Pax does just that. Going around yelling or shaking his fellow's, telling them to put on their armor and grab their spears, who are more than eager to obey the first set of orders given to them in the confusion and chaos. Soon enough the rest of the men are armed and gathered around his captain.

"I don't know what's going on anymore than you do, but follow me!"

Pax stays very close to his Captain, the rest of his comrades behind. He almost feels a little proud at having helped bring them together.

1-2. Alweir is not exactly a war veteran, or a student of the war academies, but he knows his Hylian history and lore, and talks to the prince about some of the great Wars fought before. More importantly, how they were fought and the lessons to be learned from them. The Hylian Prince finds all this interesting, and listens intently, nodding his head at times, and asking how such a thing could be applied to his army.

At the end of it asks if you can be his one of his personal Advisor's. That's when both of you start hearing loud shouts and noises from the outside, and a runner comes in.

"Your Highness, foes and flares in the night! The camp is under attack!"

The Prince's eyes widen, as he thinks on what to do.

>Yes that should be Great Sneak

1-2. As the raid progresses, Zwilli breaks off, yet another idea popping into her head. Speaking to her Prince, he nods his head and hands her several small black bombs.

Evading yet more guards through the quiet dead of night at ease, she seems at one with the shadows, at last reaching the stables where she starts laying them in the straw.

That's when the ground turns a shade of red, and she looks to her back to see something bright and red up in the sky, as the camp starts to come alive with shouts and cries. Sand Goddess, we've been caught.

Zwilli takes the nearest horse she can and rides off, but not before grabbing a torch and tossing it into the hay.

You know, this isn't the first time she's stolen a horse, not nearly. But now, she can say she's stealing a horse and helping her sisters!
+Great Sneak

---

Zwilli rushes past hylians, jumping over and even knocking them down, arriving at the supply depot.

The scene is utter chaos, but appears to be in favor of the Gerudo. Unprepared conscripts who rush to the scene are cut down by Gerudo warriors, blades and warriors twirling in the air, the Prince in particular who leaps like a madman, cutting down several soldiers at a time. Still, some Gerudo lie on the ground slain, and more and more of these hylians arrive

The Gerudo Prince shouts in anger. "We must get out of here! GO!"

Zwilli remembers why she grabbed the horse, and heads inside to grab an unconscious officer, dragging his heavy body and tossing it back over the horse. As the other Gerudo scramble to bring the last few supplies and the bodies of their fellow dead on the last of the stolen wagons, as Ganon lights the supply tent on fire with a torch, ordering everyone to fall back to the bridge.

The black and red sky starts to give way to the light blue hint of dawn, as the raiding party flee's. But even as they approach the bridge, all does not seem well.

Virni witnesses the encounter, seeing how some strange figure just appeared in thin air and then vanished into it after being struck by flying knives.

Soon swords and shouts, the shadowy figures are under attack by the Hylian army. The one in the mask shouts angrily in another language, and soon the tent is emptied. But not before part of the wall was lit on fire.

The bombs! Shit. Virini can't move, he'd been roped to a post. Trying to think of a way out, another figure walks in. It ignores his gagged plea's and goes for the unconscious logistics officer next to him. Cutting the ropes that bound them both to the pole, it drags him up and away from the tent as fire and smoke fills the room.

But Virini is free! Sort of. In desperatation starts squirming on the ground like a worm trying to crawl get away from the fire and the bombs.

He just manages to get out the door and see the faint sounds and sights of a fight around him, before a blast knocks him unconscious.

Sometime later, he comes to, still bound and gagged, and looks to see the burning supply depot behind him. There's a sharp pain in his side and he feels warm and wet. Some dead bodies are around him, Hylian soldiers and. . .Gerudo!

Knives and swords litter the ground and he manages to get his hands on one, and after a lot of awkward hand work he manages to cut himself free.

his line of thought is interrupted by a MASSIVE explosion, the flames covering the pots as the sound of whizzing shards through the air passes by him before he's knocked to the ground painfully by the blast and something else. He get's up and feels hurt, and looks.

Although it was acting against orders, and if their captain pressed for it they could very well hang for such, Lancel knew they wouldn't begrudge him especially if the raid was succesful surely

The problem is that, where it seemed he thought of raiding the enemy, the enemy had already thought of the same. Well in advance, as they approach the bridge the sky is lit up by a red flare, followed not long after by the sound of an explosion

Damned Gerudo! Look! Stolen Hyrulian supply wagons being brought up toward the bridge. What's more, they hear the sound of riders coming up from behind them in a distance, one of them clearly see's them and rides to some Gerudo guarding the otherside of the bridge. Lancel and his men and their heavy weapons are not particularly fast enough to chase after them

Horns are sounded on the bridge. Looks like they've been spotted, as a rather short gerudo wearing a mask points directly at them. Soon enough arrows start plinking all around them, and some gerudo appear with their own heavy blades and halberds

Lancel and his men decide to charge, they were expecting a battle anyway. As he and his crew rush forward through arrow and javelin, they meet with the gerudo warriors with a great crash of heavy weapons, as battle is joined. A horrific scene emerges with skulls and chests being caved in, arms coming off, and some gerudo are cut in half in a single blow.

Lancel's anger and rage turns him into a berserker, at one point with a single swing and a roar hewing down three warriors. However, the Gerudo's own battle skills show as whirling double tipped staffs and blades slice through the air like whirlinds, parrying, piercing, and slicing.

The Gerudo are prepared, their being lead by a capable commander, they have, as of right now, superiority of numbers and ranged forces. But the sound of an approaching Hylian horsemen and a moving mass of men does reach the ears of Lancel as they fight.

She eats massive amounts of food before she is satisfied, a few are disgusted at how ungerudo like it is (and some say she's been corrupted by the Hylians), but others feel that having a strong, well fed, and tall warrior, even if she isn't a /true/ Gerudo warrior, is wholly welcome

I will take to combat with my +Good Iron Goron Sized Very Heavy Long-sword and storm to the bridge, making a clear path for Hylian troops. Fluff: Nas was a forgotten bastard, left on the doorstep of an orphanage 18 years ago, as he grew up he would always refrain from participating the games the other boys played, instead he would always watch them, one day he got himself a paper and pencil and he drew them, he’d managed to in his opinion perfectly capture the struggle as the tough kid, Nato, took on the bully Tissill. His caregiver did not find his theft and use of such valuable materials nearly as interesting and thoroughly punished him, he was stifled until the age of 8 when he managed to get himself adopted by a famous painter.
His foster father Ozo, taught him all knew and fostered his natural talent. Nas grew to become quite the skilled artist but found that he always enjoyed painting live, moving actors rather than still models. Still, he could not refuse when the Prince of Hyrule hired him on as his personal painter for his up and coming crusade. Nas agreed and even became quite exhilarated when he managed to get the prince to allow him the opportunity to paint the battles themselves, from a safe distance of course.

Faction: Hylian
Race: Hylian
Fluff: Alweir is a premier wizard within the kingdom of Hyrule, though, not the best wizard. Or the most wise wizard. Instead, he is mostly known for his command of history: he knows things that nobody seems to know for reasons that people aren't exactly sure of. Some people doubt he is truly a wizard -- wizards usually don't deal in history. Rumors, persistent rumors, suggest he might not even be a Hylian. But those are rumors -- just rumors. That aside, his command of history gives him a reasonable command over the present: weaknesses, strengths, advantages, tactics -- all belong to him. Given such knowledge he often finds myself within the upper echelons of the royal court -- his advice is sought after and demanded.

Name: Ash Kuneus
Faction: Gerudo
Race: Hyrulian
Fluff: Ash was born in a town along the Hyrule lands and gerudo desert border to simple peasant folk. Though naturally smaller than the average hyrulian, his father still deigned it necessary to teach him how to fight, as both hyrulians and gerudo frequently raided the town. This created a clash for Ash in that he was attacked by both his own and foreign peoples, which caused him to seek more than just mindless farming and killing. Luckily, he caught a break when a book merchant came along with a caravan one day. He saw the opportunity and took it, buying as many books as he could on all sorts of topics, but the one that really caught his eye was a book on the culture and history of the gerudo. Reading and learning all he could, he absorbed a plethora of information and decided that he would find a way to get out of this life and do something worthwhile. Having discovered that some of the things he read in the gerudo book didn't seem to match up with the behaviors he observed when they came to raid, he took all he could at his 15th birthday and left into the desert to find them. Amazingly, either out of pity or greed, they took him in and allowed him to live with them in exchange for work and getting supplies. Now, with the war going on, he's decided to document and learn even more about them so that the world'll know both sides!

Pretty sure they were going to fuck up Hyrule's mage, so that's a plus for him. It looks like heaviest bit of combat occurs this turn, with some more next turn while Gerudo retreat. If Hyrule's mage successfully takes out the bridge, then those who don't fall to their death will duke it out on their respective sides and we'll maybe end up with a turn or 2 of "what happens after battle."
>>
The brawl on the Hylian side of the bridge is quickly turning into a battle, as more an more hylian infantry move in. The Gerudo send up skirmishers to meet them, witholding their main reserve across the river for now. Although the Prince's orders were followed, the result was that few commander's bothered to even set up a formation, many levies and soldiers simply moving up as fast as they could at their own pace. This necessarily meant that only lightly armored levies and conscripts would make it their first, worse without a commander or a formation, an unguided charge.

In general, the average Gerudo warrior, even in light armor, held the advantage over the Hylian. They had years of fierce cultural training, combat experience, and familiarity in equipment they used every day, while some of the Hylian conscripts and levvies having only put on armor and held a sword for the first time in their lives.

The Gerudo were making mincemeat of them.

Archers from across the river bank picked off stragglers. What was worse, light fast Gerudo horse archers streamed across the bridge and began to loose arrows and throw javalins at soldiers from all angles, the foot troops unable to keep up with them. Some Hylian's lifted their shields against the arrow storm from the front, only to end up dead with arrows to their side and back.

However, a tight nit formation of heavy troops now a serious thorn in the Gerudo's side, their armor and formation offering them good protection from the Gerudo ranged troops. Though Gerudo skirmishers had managed to halt their advance, it was at their own cost, the heavy armed Hylian's chopped and smashed many that came their way as Lancel's rage carried him onward.

Soon too the rest of the Hylian's had wised up. A Hylian commander, and what appeared to be his second in command were rallying the levies, pulling some back and drawing some forward. Pax Lombardi was right in the thick of it, he and his captain shouting orders together managed to create a formation of the levvies. Now a wall of spears and shields and were marching forward, moving up the flaks of the two-handers. Against this Gerudo warriors on foot and horse shrieked, and slashed, and whirled blades through the air, parrying or smashing spears and slicing into lightly armed levy troops.

Yet now in formation the Hylians were steadily advancing. For each Hylian that died, another moved up in his place as more poured in from behind, helping to press the spearhead of longswords, maces, and axes with massed spearmen behind. The sound of drums was heard promised proper reinforcements by the main body of the Hyrule army. It looked like they would win this!

The Gerudo felt otherwise.

>con't
>>
>>48991910
Lancel continued to cut down Gerudo after Gerudo that came his way, his skill and experience now aiding him with the help of reinforcements. Blood and guts stained his armor, as he hewed them down with hatred. Yet now across the bridge, he saw a new group of Gerudo warriors. They were much more intimidating, boasting armor and heavy weapons of their own, and there in the center he couldn't believe his eyes.

There stood a huge, armored knight right in the center of their ranks, taller and larger than many of the knights he had ever seen.

Though its armor seemed Hylian, Gerudo runes were carved and painted over the Triforce and Wings. In one hand, it held a thick heavy shield, and in the other -he could scarcely believe it- a longsword. Even as Lancel himself stood taller and stronger than most men, this knight stood taller than him, dwarfing the other hylians. Lancel could but keep fighting and watching as it headed straight for him.

The armored Knight seemed unstoppable, as any Hylian spearman that managed to get in his way was literally cut in half by the iron beast.

Lancel defeated the Gerudo skirmisher directly in front him, just in time to lift up his blade with both hands to fend off a huge overhead swing. Sparks flew from the meeting of the blades and the sound of it rang through the air. Lancel felt the force of the blow shake his body. And this knight was only using one hand!

>con't
>>
>>48992179
Around them though, the battle was a different story. The Gerudo were now supported by heavy troops of their own, lead by a veteran commander. The aged captain of the levvy was not an incompetent man, but Tuvuma outclassed him. Skilled Gerudo warriors now tying up the levy formation, the Light Gerudo skirmishers were free'd up to resume more attempts to outmaneuver and outflank them. Gerudo superiority in skill, discipline, morale and command showed again as the numbers evened out. Every Gerudo was willing to fight to the death, but very few Hylians did. The tide was soon turning on the hyrulian vanguard, and the main body of the army was still too far away. Pax could feel it in the air, a sense of dread and panic among the men, this could get very ugly very quickly. The Gerudo seemed intent to slaughter the levvies before the main body of the Hyrule army arrived. Even as Lancel fought the knight, he would not be able to respond to another Gerudo warrior slowly making her way to him, Halberd in hand, seemingly preparing to end the duel here and now with a stab to the back.

>>48992596
The massed levvies and conscripts are surrounded, and already start to break. Noboru and Tuvuma have Lancel cornered, one of them prepared to deliver a final blow.

Lancel's vision flashes brown for a brief moment, and feels a great rumble. Seconds later, the Knight and Tuvuma are. . .gone? He turns to see that something big and round is rolling, plowing through Gerudo warriors who are sent flying to through the air or smashed into the ground. He almost thinks he see's the glint of armor flying through the air before falling into the gorge. The Boulder rolls on, knocking Gerudo off the bridge and onto the other side, before unraveling to reveal two massive swords on both sides.

It's a Goron! On the otherside of the bridge Gerudo arrows and javelins pelt its rock hide and other Gerudo try to hack at it with blades to little effect, as they are but cut down by the Goron who spins around with its sword in both hands, almost like a top.

There's another rumble behind him, and the sound of horns blaring. A hylian spearman yells something between a shout and a cheer, Lancel turns to see flags, horses, and lances on the horizon.
>>
>>48993149
Lossin rides by his commander, as the horses line up on a hill overlooking a battle. Down below they could see the chaos, a group of infantry were surrounded and holding Gerudo warriors who were lobbing arrows and javelins at them. Lossin's captain yells a command.
"Sound the charge, we'll drive them head on back across the bridge. For Hyrule, for the King!"

Trumpets blare, as the 1st Cavalry Bridge lower their lances, starts moving.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0N3djtj38Q

Legendary even outside the realm were the Knights of Hyrule, none more so than the Lancers.

The horses start a slow gallop, a loose formation that turns into a jog picking up speed. Faster and faster, their their jog becomes a run. Riders and horses move move close in together, shoulder to shoulder. A wall of armor and lances dashing forward and nothing to stop them. Their run becomes a sprint, riders shout and spur their horses now running at full pace. A hundred hoofbeats meld together until they are a rolling thunder that heralds a deadly tidal wave of armor and speartip.

The Gerudo try to form a line up to meet them, Halberds pointed forward. It may as well be broomsticks. Hyrule lances, longer than anything the Gerudo carry, impale these warriors killing them before the heavy horses trample over their bodies. The charge runs right over them.

--

Any Gerudo commander smart enough to realize the rout before it happens orders the Gerudo to flee, the fortunate ones being picked up by horse archers who dash across the bridge, while the rest simply make a break for it. Gerudo crowd the bridge trying to press onward, while Hylian lancers are right on top of them. Some avoid being trampled and jump down into river, several of them landing on the pirate ship below, lucky ones only receiving light injuries.

Lancel, Pax, and the Levvies inspired by charge follow behind the lancers over the bridge!
>>
>>48993370
Hylian conscripts and lancers pour across the bridge, not far behind the main body of the Hylian army is seen at last arriving, ready to follow the same.

---

Underneath the bridge, as boots and hooves trample above, a small masked figure clung to the underbelly of the wooden bridge with one hand, making final adjustments.

His warriors retreated. This was to be expected, but they bought precious time. As he heard the shouts of dying warriors he prayed they killed many this day. Finished he let go off the bridge and diving into the river gorge below.

---

Down below, Captain Blackheart stood on his ship and was pleased. He looked happily at a covered wagon, brought down by rope. When the Prince asked him for a request, he thought he'd have to give up some of his own precious supply, instead dropped from the heavens was more than he had ever seen in his life. Naturally, the first thing he did was order his men to take them below the hull away from any danger of being fired upon by flaming arrows.

Something amazing was going on above the cliffs, he heard all sorts of things, battle cries, and he even thought he saw a boulder rolling over the bridge. Indeed, some Gerudo had been knocked back, as a large armored Knight Gerudo had landed directly on his ship, cushioned by a lucky fall onto ropes and rigging. Not long after that, Gerudo warriors started clambering back across the bridge and soon many leaping down into the river. His ship picked up as many as they could, adding it to the impressive haul they had. One thing for sure, it wasn't the Gerudo charging over the bridge but now Hylian knights and foot soldiers the opposite way.

Just in time too, as the figure he was staring at fell from the bridge fell into the river.

That's the signal. He ordered his men to cut the ropes tying them to the canyon wall, and the ship slowly floated away down river.

He turned one last time to look at the upon the bridge itself, waiting for something.

Alweir was making steady pace toward the battle. A flash of flame, and he was ever more closer. This was definitely a lot less taxing than running, and. . .he didn't know how to ride a horse. Sadly he doubted he could catch up to stop the thieves at this pace. Short ranged teleportation is rather. . .short ranged, and is spaced out by intervals.

Just as he was about to make another flame jump, he heard a tremendous explosion on the horizon and an even bigger ball of flame into the sky. Splinters of wood and soldier rained down around him, a steaming skull and hylian helmet landing just beside him. Oh dear.

He jumped again to see a scene of a field littered with corpses, blown up bridge, and hylians fighting on the otherside.

Alweir flame jumped again, appearing on the other end. The Hylian's had managed to route the Gerudo at least any that could be seen, but now the momentum had stopped as they were dazed and confused by the blast. Some were running around on fire, as others tried to put them out, a few of them leaping off into the river. The force looked to see that the Hylian army had arrived on the otherside, but without the bridge nobody could cross the river.

They had been cut off.

His Draconic senses kicked in again, as he felt something approaching on the horizon. Two tiny figures were flying, he could sense flames in one of them, but he could sense. . .nothing on the other. As though she weren't there.

A shrill shriek of voices cut the air

"eheheh, sister, look at that!"

"eheheh, yes sister, looks like the Prince left us something to play with!"

"I will burn them to ashes!"

"I will freeze their bones!"

Two witches were flying high up in the air, the one with flames on her head pointed a magic wand and immediately a bolt of flames jettisoned from it, scorching some of the troops. Alweir acts quickly to intercept it, jumping into position and raising his hand. He seems to absorb the flame into his hands, taking in the fire magic.

It didn't hurt but it didn't feel very good, it was strong, too strong. He felt too charged.

"What do we have here sister?"

"A pitiful Hylian wizard!"

"My flames don't seem to affect him."

"FREEZE HIM!"

The other witch pointed her wand at him, Alweir couldn't feel the magic from it but thought how hard could it be?

Big mistake, the instant the icy flames touched his hand he flame jumped away, recoiling in PAIN. That hurt! Gods it burned coldly. He looked to his hand, as frost appeared on it, the pain sharp and biting. In anger he raised a hand up at the the witches and released a blast of flames from his hands at them. Particularly strong both from his rage and a reverberation of the fire magic he absorbed.

The Flame Witch felt nothing, but the Ice Witch shrieked in pain.

"AAAAAAAAIIIIIIEEEEEEEE! Sister I'm hurt, it burns!"

"Sister! Curse you, Hylian!"

The Flame Witch and Ice Witch flew off, evidently the Ice one sustained some terrible injuries. Alweir meanwhile felt exhausted. His hand still hurt, his body ached from so much flame jumping and the fire blast. . .he fell on the ground and collapsed.

Your skill in battle and rage against the foe has shown today! You've shown yourself a capable leader of your men, such as what you have left. . .but you held out despite the odds and even joined a charge over the bridge. However, you have continued to sustain injuries, now made worse from arrows, fighting, and splinters from the bridge explosion. You have also lost some of your men. Behind you, the river Zora and the gorge separates you from the rest of the army, as well as medical aid. Well, if there were any left after the supplies had been stolen.

Bombs! Wonderful bombs, thanks to the efforts of Gerudo raiders who managed to lower an entire cartfull of the stuff onto your ship. Some of the men are a bit uneasy at this. Your timely intervention was decisive, as you literally rolled your way through Gerudo knocking them down like bowling pins before releasing your arms to slice at them with near impunity. You have killed many Gerudo single handed this day, and helped beat them back across the bridge. You feel very confident in using your natural Goron abilities in battle now. 1-2. Noboru fought valiantly and killed many Hylian's this day. Yet she seems to have met one who was a match for her strength. One who she could not beat with mere strength. She did learn though, having fought for the first time in battle against a true oponent. Particularly in the use of her shield. Alas, it was the Goron that ultimately knocked her back over the gorge, where she would have surely drowned in the water were it not for landing on a pirate ship.

Alweir alas, is unable to prevent the theft of artifacts or even to prevent the escape of many Gerudo and stolen goods. He did however, prevent quite the terrible disaster that would have been two witches burning and freezing the Hylian soldiers to death. He did however, get a much better handle at teleporting from distances, as well as a first hand taste in magical battle experience.

Lossin impaled many a foe on his lance today, and can now truly say he has fought in battle just as his father before him. From straw dummies, now to true enemies, the training at last now progressing into true combat experience. More battles like this, and he really will be a lancer.

As of now, the 1st Cavalry Brigade now stands on the otherside of the river, cut off from the main army along with a number of other Hylian soldiers, the surrounding mountains overlooking their area standing tall and intimidating, casting a shadow upon the forces gathered there. At least the Hyrule army is on the otherside of the river gorge, for some small consolation.

His captain is less enthused. The surrounding terrain is rough, uphil and mountainous, with only a narrow winding path that leads into the great Gerudo Desert. The perfect spot for an ambush, and ill suited for heavy cavalry.

1-2. Tuvuma's leadership proved crucial in allowing the Gerudo to buy time enough for the supplies to be stolen and for the bridge to be blown. Leading directly from the front standing by her troops she was able to shout out direct commands to them, doing her best to keep the battle in favor of the Gerudo, while quenching her halberd in Hylian blood as well (pity she wasn't able to collect any ears). Alas, the Hylian strength this battle was overwhelming and the timely intervention of the Goron and the Lancers broke the defense, but still her warriors look up to her leadership now more than they ever did before.

Tuvuma and her forces were able to retreat back to hidden positions in the mountains, overlooking the small opening of ground where Hylian soldiers and knights lay, cut off from the main body of the army now on the otherside of the gorge, the bridge blown up between them.

As Zwilli makes way to the bridge, she does not notice that the logistics officer has undone his bonds. In a moment, he tries to undo the others and escape but Zwilli realizes this and tries to stop him. There's a struggle and the horse is confused, before both of them can react the horse leaps down and into the gorge and the river below. They scream as they fall, and then darkness.

Consciousness returns to Zwilli, and she notices two things. Something heavy is repeatedly pressing down on her chest, and a pair lips are breathing into hers. Her eyes fly open and she starts coughing and spitting up water violently from her lungs, taking in a gasp of air. Breathing in quick gasps, her sight and senses starts to clear. She then notices kneeling above her, the young Hylian officer, both his hands placed on her chest.

1-2. Pax's captain needed someone to help him, and so Pax fulfilled that role admirably. Not only helping in mustering the men, but in the heat of battle organizing them, acting as a second voice for his commander to be heard, and a second person to inspire them. The farmer experienced combat first hand, and survived it, and even learned from it something many of his own comrades did not. His skills while still needing polishing, are far greater than where they were when he began this war.

However, he now finds himself along with the utter levvies trapped beyond the broken bridge, separated from the Hyrule army and surrounded by imposing mountains that loomed over them. It was somewhat comforting to see a rather large Goron and even better Hyrule Knights there to stand with them, and even more so a Wizard! Who turned away two Gerudo witches. The odds didn't seem so bad when he thought about it.

Bob is hurt pretty badly. Bob thankfully, is found and cared for along with several other wounded soldiers, as doctors and men of the faith move around the battlefield trying heal who they can. Normally officers and noblemen can readily afford healing potions but after the great supply raid the army has been bereft of those and even some basic medical supplies which are now scarce.

Luckily, his Lord (whom remembers him after he crafted a fine pot for him) takes pity on Bob after remembering a favor he owes, and gives him some bandages he bought from a nearby merchant before going off to buy more.

Virini Alsov limps back to his wagon, parked far enough away from the camp that it was spared. He uses what fine medical supplies he has on himself, feeling better.

A short while later, and he suddenly feels a LOT better. Noble lords come up, even a representative of the Prince, all wanting to buy supplies! Medical supplies, food, weapons, everything.

At the end of it all, Alsov is now a much much richer person than he was before, and his wagon is now utterly empty (he had to refuse selling the wagon as well, evidently there was also now a wagon shortage).

Wow what a day. Seems the nobles didn't plan for their supplies to be lost so. . .quickly. And getting new supplies from their various fiefdoms would take too much time, by which then they would be a lot further into the war which could not be delayed.

Alsov suddenly remembers his merchant family, and all the supplies they have. . .

1-2. Meiloru surprisingly, manages to sneak past both her sisters and the Hyrulian's. They did see her, but evidently either side thought her on their own side rather than an enemy. She had also did her best to avoid being in the direct thick of the fighting.

As she left the scene of the battle, she heard a great explosion but strangely decided not to look back.

She now finds herself resting under a tree in a nice quiet peaceful spot up river.

The Hylian lands, where the grass is greener on the otherside of the river, full of tree's that are green and people with soft pale skin that did not know the harsh sun or the biting winds, and where water fell from the sky.

Meiloru has time to sit and ponder her allegiances, or her plans.

You are Nas, orphan turned painter, having risen up from your previous status. Through determination you have finessed your art, learning it well. Of late your luck has only increased two fold when the very Prince of Hyrule himself hired /you/ to be his personal painter.

This "great Crusade" as he calls it, will be his first shining achievement as he builds up his reputation to be king. Some Gerudo have to learn how to be graceful. Silea seems to have been born with talent. Swifted, faster, more agile and dextrous. Silea not only learned the art of warfare of the Gerudo, but the actual arts as well, becoming a proficient dancer and performing the various traditional and dances and rituals. Her nickname "fire dancer" comes from how it was said she could dance upon a bed of coals without burning her feet, and how she would often dance with fire, sometimes blowing it from her mouth. She would leave a lasting impression on many a traveler from afar who visited the Gerudo with her dances, some left smitten for her.

For reasons still unknown, despite nobles and even a prince from a far off land wanting her hand, Silea rejected them all. She instead took up bizarrely, a Hylian young man just barely out of boyhood. She didn't marry him, but she did claim him for herself, to live in her house and be in her protection, as was the right of a Gerudo to do so to captives or guests. To what end is unknown, some say out of pity for the lad, others say she fell for his wit and tongue, others that she uses his knowledge of Hylian culture to her advantage, but for whatever reason she has claimed him.

Now, as war looms on the winds, she fights for her prince, and her peoples.

Ash Kuneus, he wasn't meant to be a fighter, he knew it, his father knew it much to his chagrin. He wasn't weaker, shorter, or uglier than the other boys (as testfied by the looks he'd get from some girls in his village). But he didn't have the fire for fighting, even as he suffered at the mercy of Gerudo he also realized his own Hylian kind would attack their village all the same. How then, were the Gerudo raiders and different than Hylian raiders? And so he set to find out. With nothing but a bag of books, maps, and some food he managed to forge his way through the unforgiving desert. He had read about the sun that burned like fire, or the night winds that could freeze a man in minutes, but only through experience did he truly understand what it meant.

At last his body could take no more, and he collapsed, helpless to certain death. And woke up only to find himself in the care of a Gerudo woman! Now he finds himself exactly where he wanted to be, in the very Gerudo capital, living in the care of a Gerudo warrior.

Already he's learned a great deal about Gerudo culture, such as the fact that Hylian's (especially men) have very little to no rights at all, particularly captives. Evidently he was now some kind of captive, the charge of the warrior who took him in, a very pretty dancer yet deadly with her blade. It seemed Gerudo would actively try to capture foreign males, amazing. What more could be learned of the Gerudo if he but just kept living here?

She breaks her forces into three groups. Two main forces, with archers and geurdo infantry to protect them, set up to rain arrows down on the camp below. The forces are angled to allow no hiding spot and the ability to shoot arrows into the backs forces climbing up to challenge the archers. Tuvuma leads a third force of the best warriors she has remaining to hide at the far side of the opening. [Alweir]: http://pastebin.com/Mf5TQ8sd

1. Alweir immediately heads to the Prince's location to discuss this latest debacle without minced words and displaying his arm clearly. And so Alweir walks, and as he walks, he thinks. It is one of the few benefits to the human form insofar as it allows one to stay grounded and also in thought. Why such a raid, and why now? Why risk so many valuable assets when the fortress was the best defensive position available? It all struck him as brazen. Bold. Too bold. Something must have been among the artifacts. Something valuable enough to risk resources.

Dealing with the prince was another matter. Alweir is a creature that is not kind with words when he thinks it effective. This is such a situation: the prince is young and impressionable, and will respond to his commentary. As such, he rehearses the speech in his mind: it is clear, grave, and honest about the situation on the bridge and the disorder: army, tactics, command, and so on. The entire battle could have been a disaster, and very nearly was. Alweir avoids specifics – he would prefer to avoid confusing the young prince – but thinks rhetorically fine allusions to 'great mages' within the enemy ranks will be sufficient. He has in mind the following line: “Without a doubt, those two mages could destroy key portions of the army without respect to the size of that army. I realize that quantity has certain advantages, but sometimes those things are without any sort of merit, young lord. If dispensation could be given I could perhaps find certain individuals within the ranks with the affinity.”

2. Afterward, Alweir then sips a bit of the [red potion] to heal his injury. He desperately hates the taste of these things, but it is better than having a mangled limb that attracts flies and other stupid insects. The foibles of the human form amused him sometimes, but this is certainly not one of those times.

Bonus: [The eye that believes not what it see's, see's all] - Meilouru suspects everything from everyone, and therefor, is never proven wrong. A lifetime of guarding herself from lies and falsehood's has also in turn, taught her those same tricks. She is more than capable of blending in to foreign armies, but woe befall her should she be caught.

Meilouru watched the Hyrulian camp. The Hyrulians seemed rather alert, but there was chaos and what looked to be a fire still burning? Once the casualties began to limp in from the front, the Hyrulians would likely struggle to keep track of anything that wasn't clearly a Gerudo.

1. Meilouru dons her Stolen Hyrulian Guard Armor and All Night Mask. After concealing her Gerudo Bow and Quiver, she infiltrates the camp as if she had been a guard disorientated by the earlier fighting. She would seek out a meal or steal some more long term supplies, if possible.

2. Meilouru listens to what conversations she can while making herself vaguely useful by aiding the wounded and collecting the dead. If possible, she will attempt to pick up a Hyrulian sword or spear for herself from among the chaotic scene, and keep an eye open for any Gerudo that may have been captured.

Should she be discovered, Meilouru will quickly eat a Scoot Fruit to disrupt any attempt to capture her.

1. Virini Alsov enters his now rather empty wagon to pull up one of the very few things that remains. A small bird in a cage, the inside of which has a humble pidgeon. He does ponder on a list initially, but then decides these words more appropriate “Army without supplies. On the route to Gerudo Fortress down main road. Prince and nobles here. Send in everything.” He wraps up the note on the bird and let's it loose, watching it fly off. Now all he had to do was wait.

And so he walks around, searching for something valuable. He does in fact, find a group of armored hylian men crowded around somewhere. They seem have found what looks like a door in the rock, and are trying to find a way to open it. One of them spots him. “Greetings good sir, we are on a quest to find an ancient magical artifact. We had previously met the esteemed Alweir the Enchanter-”
“Arbiter sir”
“Arbiter, but he did not deign our services. But now this blasted door blocks our path. “
Virni is barely paying attention as he looks around, and says something simple.
“You need to light those two torches on the side of the door.”
“Don't be daft, how could lighting a torch possibly open a door. In the middle of daylight no less.”
Virni ignores this, and leaves, and returns again with a lit torch. He lights up the torches, and sure enough the door opens up. An empty blackness presents itself to the group, dust and bats flying out.
They are impressed by Virni's skill in “door opening” and invite him to join on the next phase of their quest, which means going through this dungeon.

1. No word of the Prince yet, however already reports are coming in of Gerudo warriors being rescued down shore of the river, along with reports that the supplies have been loaded onto a ship. Not to mention what supplies made it across the bridge at the disposal of the Gerudo warriors there. Ammunition, food, medicine. This bodes well. The enemy amassed across the otherside of the river does not. Your original orders presumably still stand, hold out the Hylians at the bridge and inflict casualties. Do not retreat unless threatened by total annihilation.
>>
>>49001059
2. Tuvuma organizes her troops. Great detail is set into ensuring interlinked arcs of fire, ready to rain down on the foe below. When all is set, the archers begin their siege, aided by new supplies of arrows, raining them down on the hylians below. The effect is rather lackluster, unexpectedly the Hylians on the Gerudo side of the bridge manage to find or create effective means of cover, picking up shields from fallen Gerudo and Hylian's alike, covering each other's sides in turtle like formations, as others attempt to dig ditches or hide behind a rather large Goron. What's worse, the Hylian's on the otherside of the bridge also set up their own line of crossbowmen and longbowmen behind a wall of tower shields and pallisades, even as they begin to erect makeshift wooden hoardings as well as start up preliminary construction of a new wooden bridge. Gerudo archers are faced with a difficult decision. They can either choose to remain in positions behind rocks and crevises and fire arrows indirectly at the enemy, protected against retaliation, but this is very inaccurate. Those Gerudo plucky enough to peak out and fire at enemy positions very much risk themselves being fired upon, though at this range and with good cover only a few unlucky ones tend to die. What happens is a prolonged stalemate with arrows and bolts flying both ways, niether side able to effectively eliminate the other.

But the Hylians are slowly building their bridge anew. Another forboding sight, scouts report two Wizzrobes on the otherside of the bridge. They haven't done anything yet, but this does not bode well and Koume and Kotake have not returned.

Noboru starts stripping off her armor quickly to help rescue Gerudo on the river. Quite to the surprise of a lot of pirates, one who exclaims “by the gods it's a woman!” when she takes off her helm. Some unashamedly want to see what she looks like underneath all that armor. Mixed emotions now show as Noboru reveals her scarred, muscular form; some men being repulsed, others impressed, and still others. . . interested in this tanned female hercules.

Noboru wisely takes some rope and ties them to herself, and leaps into the river. It's there she learns several things:
Individuals with signficant muscle mass and very low body fat are not naturally boyant
She hasn't swam in nine years. She didn't swim a lot back then either. Few Gerudo have.
People who don't know how to swim tend to panic, panic leads to people trying to drown you as you attempt to rescue them.

Still, she tries valiantly, and with the help of Captain Blackheart's crew rescues many a Gerudo this day.

1. The Prince want's two paintings done. The first is one epitomizing his “decisive leadership” in responding to the “attrocious and unforgivable” raid by the Gerudo scum, as he rallies the troops and leads a charge to victory defeating the enemy with tactical skill.
The second pertains to the ongoig battle. He wants future generations to know he is right there at the front organizing the “valiant rescue” of the trapped troops across the bridge, right there as arrows fly all around.

He says you can get started the moment he's done talking to this odd wizard. He'll have snacks and refreshments in case the painting takes long, but “expects it to be done fairly quickly by a surely competent artist”
He will pay you quite handsomely of course

Under the Prince's orders, the majority of the Gerudo Army is to remain within the fortress with only a small contingent of skirmishers and warriors to inflict casualties and delay the enemy as long as possible. He'd very much like more of his best warriors alive and here, rather than spent at the front. Even in the Raid he only took a handful of elites, the rest still at home.
Silea can of course, still head to the front and slip by this. But, she also has the option to remain here at the fortress, keep up her strength and train in preparation for the upcoming fight. Staying here might also present her the option of joining the Prince in his next move, and she might even get a chance to join his personal guard.

“No you twat. They're letting us have at em! Consolation for the lack of food.”
“Gods, yes, I'm gonna give one of them a meal they won't forget.”

Their armor stripped, barely covered by torn cloth, anger and bitterness on their proud faces. There's four of them like this, the men held back but jeering and taunting at them, throwing dirt and insults their way.

“By order of General Hanrel, these four prisoners who refuse to divulge information to the enemy are to be given to the men to boost morale.

The Hylian just blinks, and gets up. He knows why you tied him up and tried to bring him on horse, he's not about to let himself be tricked into being a slave like some idiot. He saved you because he won't be the kind of man who'd leave someone for dead, or like so many others tie you up for himself. He'll help you find the nearest town, and that's it.

The rest of the day is spent drying up. The Hylian managed to start a fire with some flint he keeps on handy, and they both hang their clothing to dry. He even set's simple fishing line on the lake with some string he keeps on himself (thank goodness for that because Zwilli wouldn't know the first thing about fishing). 1-2. Pax helps his captain again, going around and having soldiers gather shields, armor, helmets anything to provide against the onslaught of arrows coming seemingly from everywhere in the mountain. Some of the men hold up shields to protect other men who desperately try to dig trenches and get some more cover.

Behind him on the otherside of the river the Hylian army now aids the fight, their own archers and crossbowmen firing into the hills. Slowly but surely, he can see that a new bridge is being built by engineers as fast as men can hew and carry logs to the river. It doesn't help that a lot of the horses were killled.

There is hope, but it's pretty slow and grim. Wounded have no access to medical supplies, and ever the constant attack is unrelenting. It's a pretty grim situation. But Pax tries, and so does his commander.

"I've seen this thing before. That path there, why do you think there are so few archers firing around it?

This has the sign of a trap. If we tried to go through it, we'd be ambushed. We have to just try and hold out until the bridge is built."

The Cavalry dismount, and some try to protect the horses as best they can but it's not easy. Thankfully, Lossin is wearing some decent armor and his shield helps protect him from arrow fire, as the men on the bridge try to do what they can to not die under a hailstorm of arrows.

Being from the capital city, this was good, as you wouldn't end up like some poor farmer levvied by a fuedal lord but as a volunteer, having proven yourself able to handle and fire a bow selected to the role of skirmisher.

Perhaps Firem's skill and natural might even end up advancing him more than he knows.

Inventory:
Average Hylian Skirmisher Light Armor

Bonus: [Look, leap, launch - Firem is a particularly agile and spry individual, talent in these seems to have come naturally for him. Though not particularly swift and dextrous as those who are gifted at melee combat, he is very agile. It's quite easy for him to maintain his balance and recover from falls from tall places, as well as giving him a good advantage when it comes to archery skills]

>>>Name: Lossin Ekolph

His father was a member of the Hylian 1st Cavalry Brigade, renowned as being capable of winning a battle alone, and his father was a fabled archer, having at one point gotten a kill with every arrow in his quiver. His father before him fought and died in a valiant last stand that decided the fate of a war few people even remember, and his father before him... Well, I could go on.
>>>Lossin? Lossin isn't any true hero. Not yet, at least. He's a complete greenhorn, still jumpy and inelegant in his armor and with his sword. But his bloodline is well known, and it's undoubted that he's going to be forced to prove himself a worthy heir fast... or die.

The uproar of war drums and the captains' hoarse shouts woke Firem from his daze. He had been absentmindedly thumbing the quills on his arrows while waiting for his opportunity to enter the battle. --Actions--
---
1. Alweir goes to find his command. Whoever that might be. Honestly, this is the first time he had actually been put into the command of a unit before. True, he had servants once, long ago, but it was only really two small birds and it didn't really talk very much at all. In this sense the current situation was MUCH different. With that in mind, Alweir puts on his best face to meet the troops. He once again leads in with some prepared words: "Greetings, my name is Alweir. You are in my charge by order of the prince. In my charge you will have an elevated chance of survival if my commands are followed precisely. We have much work to do..." [Command]
2. Unsure of what do do about the bridge situation, Alweir goes for the straightforward approach of simply terrorizing the enemy archers on the other side of the bridge with teleports, fire blasts, and other hit-and-run attacks. He is quite careful to avoid any direct engagements, as he is very outnumbered. [Hit-and-run] [Average Fire Teleport] [Great Fire Blast]

It isn't perfect but should buy us time. The wounded can be placed closest to the edges of the ditch where they get the most natural shielding. the men still up will take the center portions where possible where they can keep what cover is available combined with their shields. Above all do not panic. Keep control of yourself or you risk giving that control to the enemy. It will hopefully buy us the time needed to rig the bridge back up or give the commanders time to get their shit together and decide what to do.

1&2.
"Sir! I was searching for you when this commotion began. I have a report to deliver! The Gerudo were lowering the stolen supplies onto a ship in the river, sir! The bridge was a distraction, but the ship appeared to be facing the wrong way to easily sail back down the river, sir! We could catch them!"

Meilouru didn't really give a damn about these Gerudo. What she did care about was being stuck on this side of the river and without food. Some part of her already felt awkward about a nameless Hyrulian showing her kindness when he himself had little food. She was in his debt, now. Her sisters were vicious when they held a debt. This was just paying back that debt as quickly as possible and keeping her cover, right?

If she could get close enough, she would attempt to use a touch of the dust upon the officer.
