What should the new Thread Question be?

Boktai WIP update. Arsenal is done, let me know how it looks. Note that upgrades aren't linear - you can just immediately buy the best version of something if you have points without sinking more into previous versions.

Hey, Wukong, does summoning still work post-jump, in Exalted? I figure that demons can make sense, given that "cross an infinite expanse of warped space in which logic does not apply" is how they get to you anyway, but elementals are drawn from the world around you. Would casting Summon Elemental just make them pop into existence, assembled out of local matter and energy?

I'm an imported Canadian by marriage. But I'm blending in nicely. I learned to say "Eh" 15 different ways and already had a healthy appreciation for maple syrup. That was worth bonus points on my immigration papers.

I had yet to view a moose though. Today rectified that. Now I'm 75% Canadian. I merely have to grow a bread, wear red flannel, and chop down a tree to complete my transformation.

That stuff works by fiat, and exactly what that fiat IS, is something you wank.

So they could be pulled form time-stopped creation by jumpchan, and sent back there, or something else.

Also, I thought Elemental Summoning still worked in the Underworld/Malfeas/The Wild?

>>
>>48677203
I guess it depends on the mechanism by which it works. "Purging" implies just specialized anti-magic, but actually making the land fertile makes it seem more like it has to do with generalized "life energy". Well, and considering that sunlight is radiation in more "realistic" interpretations, it may even be thematic to purge such things. It also works well with this line: "the land will give life once more." You could make it two versions, or maybe one of those "For an extra 100cp..." perks.

Murkrow! It's literally a crow witch. Combine that with a team including Mismagius (ghost witch) and Braixen (fox magical girl/witch).

You can even add other stuff to that, like Gourgeist or Trevenant, a ghost pumpkin and tree respectively, to round out the spook.

With 600cp in drawbacks it's 2^32, or 4,294,967,296.

And then you can import them all into Nanoha, for maximum Befriending.

Overlord.
Dragonlance.
Most D&D settings other than FR allow you to draw power from an ideal instead of a god. Or just be a Favored Soul.
>>
>>48678400
>Query. What are some jumps that allow access to divine or holy magic that don't require you to please some deity in order to keep using your powers?
Nearly any setting of D&D can do that.
Order of the Stick has concept worshiping clerics show up in panel explicitly.
Innisburg, be an Angel, one of the Perks let your magic powers be from your own divine nature.
Overlord, divine magic. what with being a MMO, none of the players were devout at all, and powers still work.
>>
>>48678400
Dark Souls.

And for that matter, Demon's Souls is technically powered by a higher power, but that higher power is a giant evil demon god who doesn't seem to have any control over who draws power from it.

Ok Jumpchain, I want to have a nice large Space Armada! I mean LoT is nice and all, but is only one ship. So a couple questions.

How much bigger can you mod a ship you buy with CP? Because that would let me dock more parasite ships/ fighters inside and increase ship count some. Especially since I figure Miniaturization and efficiency perks would free up some space.

I plan on getting the Lot as big as possible and then importing it as a Experimental ACU to double its size.

What other large ships are there? I plan to import the next largest as an Experimental Support ACU so I have the plans to build more of them.

Also, what "This group counts as one Companion" Perks do you know if? Because R-Type lets you import by buying ships, and those each get their own ship.

I know of the 20 Bodyguards from S&S already, and those will probably be getting the Heimdall so I have some worthy escorts in the LoT

>Could I use D&D classes gained elsewhere to perform D&D magic in a different D&D system? Without Conjoined Conjures?
All D&D magic is the same across systems if it is the same type. So you could be a wizard from FR, go to OotS or Dragonlance, and learn the wizard spells there from books and scrolls, yes.

Unless one is D&D 3.5/pathfinder or lower, and the other is D&D 4. D&D 4E is weird with the at will/encounter/daily and not like the Vancian at all.

>>

>>
>>48678884
>How much bigger can you mod a ship you buy with CP
Depends on the ship. Some you can modify as much as you want (such as Star War Orig Trig and Riddick Basilica ship) as the Jump or the Jump maker has said themselves.

Most jumps don't tell you, so there is no clear answers.
Personally, I go with the ruling that one can modify their items they bought as much as they want.

>Experimental ACU to double its size.
Experimental ACU doesn't double, it triples.

>Large ships
The Dead Space personal ship can be 1.5km.
The Homeworld Progenitor Dreadnought is about 1.2km.
And, though not Space Capable, the Metalocalypse Flying Mordhaus seems to be at least 1km long.

I honestly don't know why people are so adverse to this. Maybe it just comes off as fetishy-er than other changes? The closest I can recall to someone ever saying something interesting in this vein is when someone made the reasonable argument that you should choose a non-drop-in origin the first time you swap genders, so as to have memories to help you deal with the little differences.

I did mention that as a plan, yes.
But this raises a question.
CAN you ever learn to make ACU's in Supreme Commander (scan your own ACU for the plans and get to work), or is that forbidden by fiat?

If you can only ever have the ACU you start with at jump start, would it be better to import the LoT as the ACU to be your headquarters and be more powerful, or import it as a SACU so you have the plans to make more of them?

A couple of thoughts: the games are different enough mechanically that they should be separate jumps, or if you have to combine them combine 1 and 2 and make 3 it's own animal. Also, avoid the major issue the last one had. The last one was made by someone who had only played number 3 and clearly thought Nephalim was the right path. The jump reflects that. Finally, you've done some great work but you sometimes get needlessly creative with some of your design choices. Please try to avoid that.

Yeah. I usually have to get more creative with smaller source material stuff (since a lot of what I've done is a single book/movie/stage production). Circle of Magic and Ender's Jump were, I think, pretty restrained because I had so much more material to draw from.

My plan is to make three jumps. D1 start 9 years before the events of the game. D2 start 1 year before the game (so 1 year after D1 ends), and D3 begin the day of the meteor fall. And yeah, I'm going to have 4-5 races for the D3 jump in addition to the classes. (Nephalim, Human, Demon, Angel... and maybe Witch.)

I... kind of gave up on them after the 4th edition was released. I mean, even if you could get them for free online, they just were not worth the bother of downloading them. That is how much I did not like D&D 4e.

I always wondered if you could use that perk to help reverse accidental effects that couldn't be reversed by the person who caused them.

Like, if you met someone who accidentally cursed someone, then felt bad about it but couldn't remove the curse, could you help them by explaining your ability and then asking them to let you punch them?

>>48679793

>>
>>48679766
It isn't. It's a CYOA about being kidnapped and forced to participate in a reality tv show with a heavy forced feminization theme. It's utterly lewd, and therefore has no business being talked about here. I imagine the only reason he's bringing it up (aside from shitposting, of course, which makes me complicit for addressing it and giving him what he wants) is because one of the rewards is "go on to another CYOA, but with bonus points". Which is dumb even as powerwanking (hah!), because you could just pick the original Worm CYOA and buy all the powers in that to make yourself some ridiculous monstrosity of unstoppable power. One of them is even "go to any world you want", and another is "have any powers you want", so you could just make your own Jumpchain experience.
>>
>>48679791
>It has some pretty nice perks, but apparently people here have a thing against lewd cyoas.
While there's a reason people here dislike lewd cyoas, that isn't even close to the issue here. This is for jumpchain, which is a specific type of cyoa. Slut life is a generic cyoa and not part of jumpchain, and thus has no place here.

As >>48676760 reminded me, you have to have your path's two ruling arcana, as two of your three highest arcana. This means if you go to the max your Gnosis lets you, your two path arcana need to be 5, and you can only have one that isn't your path's at 5.

For reference, it's at page 76 of the core book, and says:
Two of his first three Arcana must be from his Path’s Ruling Arcana.

This is talking not about character creation, but about how high you can actually go with your arcana. For some reason it specifies 'path', which means not even the ruling arcanum you can get from a legacy counts. If one of your two ruling arcana has more that two arcana ahead of it, as in higher numbers, then you'd have to swap it around to have the path ruling arcana comprise 2/3 of your top 3.

That is total BS.

I have to change my build now, and that sucks.

Honestly, I do just go ahead and lump Lantern Power Rings in there with Magic.

For reality warping, a lot of people assume that when someone does something out of nowhere but does not explain the rules, it is Reality Warping, and any time they tell you the rules, it is not. And that is just silly.

My self, Reality Warping is when you involve other dimensions somehow, including matter or energy entering or leaving the system.
If what happened could me modeled with a This Reality Physics Simulation Program without having any blanks, it is not Reality Warping.
So Hard Science Fiction is not Reality Warping, but Soft Science Fiction is.

...okay, first off? I never thought it to be literal omnipotence, "merely" fairly substantial cosmic powers. I won't deny the other thing, but in the interest of parity the past plenty of people have accessed powers not available from specific jumps throughout interjump workarounds without any similar issue. In fact normally I wouldn't make an issue of it if it wasn't for the fact that I'm apparently being singled out specifically and wasn't talked to by either Zed or Merchant about this issue before this ruling was issued.

Secondly, as I said before-the actual process took place in nWOD Mortal Jump. Now, I'm not saying that alone fiats the original process automatically but given a) I could conceviably retool it to not require use of the Spirit arcanum at all per se and b) it takes effect in another jump it smacks of interjump balance.

Thirdly, to be frank at this point my main motivation for dropping the whole thing is because I'm vaguely disgruntled about all this bullshit about something I've honestly never given much thought about ever since nWOD Mortal Jump.

I'm not committing to anything, I'm just. Trying to process what's even going on.

>>48680127
For me it's just the thought of how unhygienic those pores must be, spending all that time in swamp water. Scorpions are all cased up, even the baby ones with their pale white carapaces, so that's more cute than gross. I think.

Agreed. I spent my time in Feudal Japan as a sorta arachne. Hands were very useful, and I didn't want little Jessica totally did not just think of that to do without.

Pretty sure Jeff had sorta claw things, but those mighta just been his pedipalps.

pedipalps is a word, spellcheck, shut up!
>>
>>48679909
>>48680544
Wow. Reading the post, this is pretty fucked up.
Not what Blank Eyed Avatar Guy did, but the BadWrongFun Zedekiel and Merchant are being.

Like the problem is Archmastery, so instead of banning Archmastery, you go GNOSIS 5 MAX. Yup, tons of vanilla Masters in setting are better then you and always will be!

So someone finds away to screw a stupid ruling, instead of FIXING the ruling, you go LETS BAN MORE STUFF!
>>
>>48680481
I took Obrimos for that grimoire of my magical knowledge. So you're saying that I don't have to take the Watchtower's ruling arcana as my own?
>>
>>48680570
Spellcheck is super terrible about scientific words. Not a problem unless your spelling is terrible like mine, in which case you're liable to type a mess.
>>
>>48680695
Just do what everyone did to the overlord jump and ignore the ruling/banning. Jumpchain is singleplayer for a reason.
>>
>>48680720
I think that it's that you always have them as your ruling arcana, but you don't have to raise your ruling arcana to be your highest ones.
>>
>>48680745
Ah, okay. Thanks.
>>
>>48680720
What >>48680745 said. There are advantages to your ruling arcana: spells outside of them cost 1 mana minimum for example, and it's easier to train them, but aside from being the ones you have to get at the start there's nothing forcing you to keep using them. That means you're good with mastering the arcana you wanted, since the discount on the Grimoire is path based not arcana based.
>>
>>48680720
>So you're saying that I don't have to take the Watchtower's ruling arcana as my own?
You have their ruling Arcana. But all ruling Arcana does is make it easier to learn. The three allowed Masteed at Gnosis 5 can be all non ruling, but it would have taken more experience to get there.

That was my understanding of the situation when I read the book long ago.

They usually ARE ruling, because you have benefits with your ruling arcana, like improvised magic without mana being needed, and they are easier to learn, and can be improved without instruction because they are innate, and other mages in the Jump do not have a Gnosis cap that means they can only ever master 3 arcana.
>>
>>48680739
>Just do what everyone did to the overlord jump and ignore the ruling/banning. Jumpchain is singleplayer for a reason.

I cannot remember if it takes spirit or not, but if you can reach the supernal with out of jump powers in the WoD Mortal jump (and have not become something else other than mortal since the jump started), you can sign a watchtower, and would then BE a mage.
>>
>>48680854
Not him, but I was one of the people who thought that shit was just plain fucked up. If you went to the SB thread at the time, ASA was specifically being mentioned in Merchant's posts to Zed. Yes, they targeted a 600+chain jumper who can effectively give 5th dimensional imps the bird and said "nah brah, no can do, badwrong fun, thats not good or creative unless we say it is"

Changelog:
I was reminded that the Inhumanity ability of Drop Ins was basically native to Jumpers. It has been replaced with Lost Logia researcher (That is, Lost Logia Researcher is now discounted for drop ins. Unless you made a Drop In build, that should not affect you, it still costs 600.)

The Powerful Soul perk now includes the effects of Innate Power. The 200 point Innate Power perk has been replaced with Martial Talent, which accelerates your martial learning. It was pointed out to me that Innate Power basically required Powerful Soul to be useful, and that was kinda dumb.

A shitton of notes and explanations have been added to the end, clarifying how things work and what things are for people who don't play Anima. Precision/accuracy has been slightly sacrificed for convenience in explanations. If you're actually writefagging (or want to play the actual game, I guess), don't rely on it, if you just want an overview, it should be good.

Assistance has been given for formatting. Much thanks to... the dude whom I just realized may not want his name on here. So to a helpful anon.

As per usual, please shred balance and such, and inform me if anything is unclear.

>>48681359
Archmastery is pretty bullshit powerful, so it was banned because it supposedly blew everything else in all of jumpchain out of the water wholesale on its own, which it actually does not.
The jump maker decided the best way to keep people from ever actually achieving archmastery ever was to fiat cap gnosis at 5 until post spark. Which also fiat caps a load of other shit that the jumpmaker won't budge on, like arcana rankings, which a number of us just ignore outright through something like conjoined conjures. Any attempt to circumvent or otherwise exceed this limitation is also banned.

No. They're a group of humans trying to kill the gods because Humanity Fuck Yeah or something, though. They tried making humanity much more badass first, they just failed miserably because humans proved to be jerks, so they wiped that civilization and started over, this time by blinding everyone into ignorance.

Clover, I have some questions about this item.

>Hunter’s Eye (Discount Naturalist, Whaler): Eat the heart of deep-lurkers, wash it down with blood. These eyes see everything deep and dark, both monstrous and the good. With a gaze that can pierce even the light eating depths of the Zee, you can see into the past and predilection of both prey and predators you perceive.

So, does the "Zee" have any special properties by itself, or is it just filled with Eldritch Abominations? Basically, do these eyes grant the ability to pierce supernatural darkness, or just mundane darkness to a certain distance?

Also, when I see into the "past and predilection of predator and prey", am I only seeing the "monstrous and the good"? If not, can they be filtered to do so by themselves? Also, is such knowledge just downloaded into my brain, or am I vulnerable while doing so?

5e makes cantrips actually useful. First of all the ones that do damage scale as you level. So by level 5 you're doing like 2dX, level 11 you're doing 3dX and lastly at level 17 you're doing 4dX. Lastly they're what 4e use to call "At Will" so you can cast as many cantrips you want.

You'll want to do that because unlike the other editions, casters don't get extra spellslots. They can only regain their spellslots after a long rest. Additionally for wizards/clerics they changed up a few things.

No longer are you memorizing spells per spell slot. Like having Arcane Missile/Arcane Missile/Burning Hands for your 3 level 1 spell slots. Instead you memorize a number of spells equal to your level + intelligence modifier.

So you could at level 10 and an intelligence of 16 which is +3 modifier. You can memorize 13 spell levels. So if you want, you can memorize 13 level 1 spells or like 2 level 5 spells, 1 level 2 spell, and a level 1 spell.

Once you memorize your spells, you don't forget them. Like you don't memorize magic missile, then forget how to cast magic missile. Instead you use up that spell slot. Now the real kicker is that in 3.5e spells automatically scaled, so you're that level 10 wizard you're magic missile is going to be doing like 5d4+1 damage. In 5e however if you use a level 1 spell slot to cast Magic Missile it's not going to scale. The only way to get more damage out of Magic Missile, would be to spend a higher level spell slot.

So by expending that 2nd level Spell Slot, you can upgrade your damage of your Magic Missile to like 2d4. Not every spell & cantrip follows the upgrade path, but it really cuts down on the down time.

The reason they went with less spellcasting because it helps even out the spellcasting classes. It also makes every encounter potentially dangerous, including at level 20. Unlike the previous editions where once you hit say level 6, dealing with mundane threats like bandits is trivial.

>>48681695
You're not going to be sniping 3 space sectors away. However the range is pretty much limited to what you can see with your naked eye.

>>48681724
It gives you more flexibility. Do you want a bunch of low level spells which you can upgrade for more damage. Or do you want a few higher level spells which you have to be picky which encounter you wish to use them.

>>48681748
The way they described it is that at level 1, you're facing off against handful of orcs. At level 20 you're going to be facing entire tribes of orcs. They do this via the advantage/disadvantage system which is basically if you have an advantage then you roll 2d20s, take the higher roll and disadvantage you take the lower the two rolls.

Magic items aren't as important as in past editions. Having a +1 sword isn't trivial like in 3.5e, so they're definitely going for more lower power level than previous editions.

Considering matter can let me apply the abilities of power armor to any gear I have, or make gross matter which you can put spells into, I tend to disagree with matter being useless compared to the others. But that's the beauty of it, I think some things are better than you do, you think some are better than I do, we each take what we like and carry on with our chains.
>>
>>48681999
I'm talking about the one where now you have to keep concentrating on a buff, or it fades, instead of having duration. 3.5's concentration just let you keep a spell instead of losing it when attacked.

Fly for example, IIRC, now only lasts as long as you concentrate on it, instead of for 10 minutes per caster level, or whatever. And you can only concentrate on one thing. And most spells have concentration instead of duration.

Dragons are described as "The seed of the world." A "minor" dragon is level 7, which is basically, "I can now kill an army." Ancients are level 11, which is basically, "If I walked into a town and told them I was a god wandering around, no one would actually disagree." Behemoth, Sovereign of the Beasts of the World, is also level 11.

It's more like a pool of magic that you store away. It's weird but hey the Vancian system is weird like that. At least you don't forget how to cast magic missile or having to memorize magic missile multiple times.

The concentration mechanic is an evolution of the concentration skill. It was there for a lot of spells in previous editions. Buffing your allies you're going to have to be picky about what you want. It's part 5e vision to be more down to earth version of D&D. More inline with 2e than 3e.
>>
>>48682287
Nah, starters are free.

I meant a combo of Psionics, Aura and Savant. It is at least 1500 cp so you need strong drawbacks...

But the power... Never forget a face, directions, plan. Amazing spatial awareness and autistic levels of mathematic skills. Perfect recall. Incredible increase to knowledge that way from reading books and never forgetting information. You don't need to copy secret plans or make photos, you got all this info in your head.

But then you also have mind powers, telekinesis through psychic moves, calm mind and shadow ball that Gardevoir uses. Healing through one of psychic moves and perhaps a substitute too, if the Gardevoir cap includes all moves they can learn and not just psychic type.

And aura lets you make force fields, barriers, kamehameha, helps you learn healing pulse and other pulses.

>>48682360
>More inline with 2e than 3e
Have you ever played 2e? 2e isn't 'more down to earth'. It just had a philosophy of "low level magic should be weak to make martials feel good and high level magic should be ridiculously strong as a payoff". By and large late game 2e magic can pull off the same sorta shit you would at that level in 3e.

Make a fortitude save. Basically. Difficulty is 120 on a d%, minimum bonus at level 1 is 30 unless you're an idiot, minimum bonus at level 15 is 100 unless you're an idiot during character creation, jumpers are probably especially resistant, and there's a couple races which can just ignore those checks IIRC. Anyway, that's game terms, you can figure out how that translates into your jump, with your bonuses and the like.

An Evangelion couldn't be, unless you imported it in Supreme Commander. They're much more limited in the forms they can take than an Angel, at least with native technology.
>>
>>48682201
>Is Savant from Pokemon really that worth it?
It is nothing you cannot get elsewhere, but it is very good. Perfect memory alone is not worth 600 CP, but also included the Mathematics/Geometry/Angles thing.
As a hint, Number Mans combat ability in Worm works off that.
While you would probably need mental speed/pause Perks and some body control to be a Worm power, it is a good starting point.

Aura is the really important one there, followed by Psionics & Savant. Everything else can be learned or earned within the Jump.
>>
>>48682437
That seems like too much of a wank even for me.

Considering jet packs and such that Team Rocket had, it wouldn't be that much of a stretch to consider electric motorcycles if we think on how we got that in Real Life already?

Nice. By the way, this needs some 50cp items. Since if someone imports one companion them there's nothing to spend the left over 50cp on. >>
>>48682487

You can do it, but you need to either take Psionics to build up mental barriers, or Aura to strengthen your soul so you are strong enough to shake it off.

This is wrong.

For example, Gardevor has precognition and teleportation as moves IIRC. Those would be examples of what you can do with psionics. Other wise, you don't actually have psionics, because it would not be able to do anything.

The moves they have can let you know what their Aura or Psionics are capable of.

Most Pacts with dragons I have seen elsewhere included thinks like increased durability, longer life, increased magical power or affinity, etc.
Presumably because of your bond with the dragon adds his stats to your stats and derived calculations somewhere.

An Odin Style Dragonpact would have all the same buffs, even though it is just your dragon nature strengthening your human self. Basically pulling more power out of the ether.

Quite possibly the biggest possible magic boost in the Fate jumps possible.

Put it this way: In another story Touko Aozaki uses an imperfect replication of the Primordial Runes-Odin's ones. It multiplies the mana of her spells MILLIONS of times over and the only reason why she still lost was because she was fighting Aoko "My True Magic is particularly strong because it was granted from the Root rather than a means of reaching it" Aozaki.

I would say it's possible to use Odin's runes with EX rank.

Hello, sorry for the wait.

As far as I know, the Zee is merely an abomination filled underground sea, though some evidence suggest that the physically lawlessness of it connects to space.

That's some really flowery language I used there, since I wanted to get the alliteration right. The eyes can pierce supernaturally dark areas and see exceptionally well into clear distances, read the past history and behaviours of things. Monstrous and good means just about anything you see in this case, although it does have to be a predator or a prey in some manner. Also, they are your eyes, you do what you can with the knowledge, you would be no more vulnerable than regular.

>>
>>48683196
>And now you know why Fate has it in for the guy! He could give Loki lessons in how to be a Cheating Cheater who Cheats.
There's actually a bit in the Lokasenna where Loki gets pissed at Odin for all the magic loopholes he uses and accuses Odin of having some weird fetish for it. The fact that he was saying this in response to Odin's claim of "you have given birth to multiple children. One of them is my horse" makes it kind of odd that Loki thinks that being a wizard is more perverse. Something lost in translation, I guess.
>>
>>48683260

>>
>>48683304
Non-runic magic (generally Sadr, though there were other minor kinds) was considered dishonorable and womanly. It was something only outcast women would use. So to a Norseman, it's pretty shameful to be considered to behaving as and practicing womanly arts, and that's what's 'perverse' about Odin's actions. He's being a girl.
>>
>>48683260
Especially since apparently these replicas of runes can't be destroyed through magecraft
>>
>>48683340
Given Touko is noted as being unable to defeat Caster/Medea by Nasu, it's almost certainly an exaggeration of massive proportions. If she really could do it millions of times over, even a basic gandr curse would one shot any Servant easily, much less one of the weaker ones like Medea.
>>
>>48683301
Clover, I wanted to ask, why is the fourth god, the Drowned something or other, just "nonononononoNONONONONO-"? Is it the equivalent of Mr. Eaten? Also, does building a shrine to a god pretty much guarantee their support as long as you don't go out of your way to anger them?

>>48683365
The Drowned Man is how the folk of the Sunless Sea worship Mr Eater, there's even a chapel island or two dedicated to him.

No, you can't worship him, lord knows how I'd balance that sacrifice.

Building and maintaining the shrine guarantees the appeased state. You really have to go out of your way to anger them, an equivalent +300 drawback shows the effort it requires to negate. You also have to put effort into getting their blessing, but that's a deal that doesn't need upkeep, but also one unique to you. I mean, others can use the shrine, too, but only ever get the appeased state. Or you could trick others into sacrilege, that's fun.
>>
>>48683385
>Nasu appears to think computer programs are literally magic going by Extra.
What?
>>
>>48683352
I'm actually aware of that, the language used refers to Odin "acting like a sorceress". I just find it odd that Loki considers doing woman's magic to be a more perverse thing than turning into a woman (sometimes females of other species, too), fucking men, and going so far as to give birth to children.
>>
>>48683385
>appears to think computer programs are literally magic
To be fair, in Type Moon that makes a little more sense than it would in real life, given the whole "it's only True Magic until you can do it with tech, then it's magecraft" thing.
>>
>>48683420
He's just mad that his "be the little girl" time ends up with "getting fucked by and then giving birth to a horse" where Odin's ends up giving him vast mystical power.
>>
>>48683388
Generally no, they feared and respected him as the king of the gods. He was powerful, and deathly, and wandered the earth, so you better treat strangers, beggars, and guests well because it might be Odin and he'll curse you to die horribly for being an asshole. I think it's a case of the Norse understanding that Odin would do anything for more power in the hopes of staving off Ragnarok, even if it was dishonorable.

However, the Norse were not afraid of humor. They could and did create poems and songs mocking their own gods playfully, like the one where they had Loki make up lies and exaggerations to shit all over the entire pantheon. They didn't imagine the gods to be so cruel that this kind of ribbing would piss them off as long as you respected them properly otherwise.

>>48683420
Maybe it's the whole 'dishonorable' aspect of it? It's a weird mindset, but maybe to Loki and possibly the writer, being a woman while he did that made it less weird for Loki? It's also possible that the intent is for Loki to be a childish hypocritical fool there, since the whole point of it is to make fun of the gods then have Loki get his ass kicked as the biggest fool of all.

Personally I believe it's either an exaggeration or a lie. The only place that info is available is on the wiki, with no reference to tell where from, and it's not only not present anywhere else, but also contradicts information we have on Touko from other sources (Not to mention how the existence of such a rune makes other things in setting not make sense. How was Odin not be king of the shitheap/Gaia if he had Divine Spirit level powers and multiplied them tens of millions of times over?). At best it seems like Nasu overhyping the scale of something and that it'd be more on the order of magnifying Touko's curses by several dozen or hundred at most. At worst it's not even a thing and is something mistakenly written in the wiki (Something I believe possible given the lack of any other mention of it's million multiplier anywhere I can find.)

Either way, assume that at best, the runes you'd get from EX rank Runes (If you do decide that you get these sorts of runes) are closer to multiplying power by dozens or maybe a hundred times at best, which is still insanely good. If it really did do it tens of millions of times over, I'm afraid it'd need to go the way of the other banned skills, because it's flat out better and more powerful then anything else on offer several million times over, at the very least if you're a magic focused jumper and probably even if you're not on that scale.

Just my thoughts.

I don't see why people like Time. All it seems to do is give you uncertain prophecy (which, being uncertain, is no better than a guess) and let you speed up and slow down time in pre-set areas. The past retcon thing can't let you change any supernatural abilities, so only mundane things. Why do people like it?

Time acceleration, time stutter, thought acceleration, slow down time for an opponent, all kinds of bonus dice because you can literally take future successes and use then in the present in exchange for minor failures in the future; it combos well with prime too, because you can accelerate your Hollow's time and as such basically spontaneously generate a shittonne of mana.

Plain language: You can now use any active sensing apparatus (searchlights, sonar, spells, etc) to damage and blind the sensory apparatus of the targets.

The target must have the appropriate apparatus (you may blind the dull of sight, but not an eyeless monster).

This attack does not require additional fuel or resources to use other than the initial cost required to activate the sensory apparatus, ie fuel for bonfires, electricity for floodlights, mana for magic. However, it cannot be used all the time.

Satisfactory?

As someone who went with Time 5, Lunar Dial is a lot better at generally messing with time than Time magic in 1e Awakening. Apparently the second edition is very different, but I haven't even looked at it yet.

The only area Time magic beats out Lunar Dial is in information gathering. Being able to see exactly what happened at a murder scene, or in a fight, and getting glimpses of the future are really powerful when used right. Information wins wars and all that. Used in conjunction with other arcana you can actually do things like ask 'who did this' and if you cast it well enough with the right conjuctional arcana you can learn who, why, where they are now and if they're likely to do it again, and if so where. The two where's might be one or the other for each cast, I can't remember.

But yeah, aside from information gathering, Lunar Dial kicks its ass in power and especially direct combat.

I've got Clairvoyant too so I've mostly got it beaten in regards to seeing past/future, plus the extra stuff that power has. Time doesn't have much for me sadly, other than the whole 'asking and receiving an answer' thing you mentioned.

I'm going through watchtowers and it's really painful since all of the good ones are paired with something terrible. Like my top three are Space, Spirit, and Prime, but the towers for those have really bad. Mastigos pairs Space with Mind, Thyrsus pairs Spirit with Life, and Obrimos pairs Prime with Forces. And all of those three arcana are at the bottom of usefulness for me.

>>
>>48684007
Cardcaptor Sakura - Seems to be mana/stamina based, regenerates naturally with rest and time, has fairly high level spells with time space manipulations being possible, and creation of matter and energy, there seems to be a material aspect but it isn't necessary.

Sword and Sorcery - Who knows? It depends how you wank it. Seems to be a kind of generic spiritualism and cosmic mysticism supported by fiat to allow basically anything given time and effort spent researching. You can summon spirits as you please and have them do things in exchange for whatever they want, and can can do all kinds of weird rituals as you learn them, to manipulate nebulous cosmic forces for whatever effect you want.

Traveler's Gate - Draws power from Territory, capabilities are dependent on the Territory itself and how much you can draw from it, but it can potentially be able to self buff, spell cast, and summon, with vaguely defined limits of how much you can draw on before Incarnating. Capable of all kinds of neat stuff.

Mage the Awakening - I don't know what Arcana you went with so I can't really go too in depth, but you have the whole Gnosis/enlightenment thing going on, and the various Supernal Realms and Disbelief and Paradox. You have high level feats in every Arcanum, and can combine then to do all kinds of crazy stuff.

I can see that. In the game I really like Mind, but in the chain when I already have telepathy, the only spells for it I get any use out of are those that let me give myself skills in mundane things, or give other people either temporary skills or items that boost a skill.

If you have Space 5 then getting Life to four or five actually wouldn't be bad, if you'd like another 'many of myself' ability. Other than that there are options that beat out most of what it can do unfortunately. It can do some Geneforge style stuff, but not quite as good even without disbelief wrecking your creations, and the transfiguration options are generally beaten out by things like Harry Potter, although using cobs of corn as wasp grenades is fun.

I'm trying to think of something positive to say about Forces but the chain has so many options for it's flashier options that the lesser powers don't really provide much use... It's a way to get Gravity, and Radiation magics, which are in fairly short supply? Oh, there is a spell to make actual sunlight, which is useful. That could then be translated into another system or technology to make anti-vampire lights available to everyone!

So, combining these.

To start off with, you combine the generic cosmic mysticism of S&S with the spellcasting of CS and things are already getting crazy, because you're already a font of arcane power and can push your metaphysical weight around in the cosmic order of things, although you'd probably still need to figure out the arcane laws you're messing with before you can start basically warping reality.

Traveler's Gate- you can probably figure this out, but I'm going to assume self buffing, summoning, and spellcasting is now on the table for everything in both magic CS ans S&S magic at the very least, and you can power your Territory's magic using just the magic power you already have.

With MtA, you can say goodbye to Gnosis and Arcana. They're still there effectively for MtA casting in a vacuum, but when used in conjunction with other magic systems, TG, S&S, or CS, you fuck up that whole system. No Disbelief, no Paradox, no Abyss. You can do basically anything in the scope of the magic system, Arcana or Gnosis be damned, if you go through the effort to accomplish it with one of the others you've combined it with, and can also preform any feat any of them combined would be capable of, using only MtA methods.

Hope this helped.

I might just end up going for Thyrsus for flavor. I like the whole wildlife realm thing, and I don't really dig Hell or the religious aspect of a Orbrimos background (I like the stylings and themes of heaven/angels and such but don't wish to follow a religion).

Unfortunately that forces a decision between being able to get Space 5 and Prime 5 since the jump makes you have your ruling Arcana as two off your 5s.

Well, one of the lessons Odin always teaches is not to mess with travelers, or he'll mess YOU up.
>>
>>48684253
Wait, the jump does that? I posted earlier this thread the game doesn't actually require that.

Just looking at the chart and the words above it it doesn't seem to indicate that, merely that you have to have your ruling arcana to start with, and that you can learn others as you go (or spend CP). Sort of 'your ruling arcana are the first and second you know, but don't have to be your best'. You do still get advantages from them even if they're not your highest though.

Is there something in the notes that says otherwise?
>>
>>48684261
Nope. CC, Softcap/Folded 1000 Times, or you can just ignore that dumb jump maker's rulings.

We don't talk about the fiat limitations just like we don't talk about dumb things like the DS mandatory loss condition.

Now, shoo.
>>
>>48684294
Among other things the jumpmaker fucked up. Just ignore it.
>>
>>48684294
The chart says:

>Your first and second Arcana will always be your ruling Arcana while your third is the one you chose to invest a single free rank into. The rest follow in order as you choose to purchase or learn them.

And considering it lists Gnosis levels from there going off the order you LEARNED them, it seems to indicate that you need to have your first three as your level 5s, and two of those are going to be your ruling arcana.
>>
>>48684296
>DS mandatory loss condition

What?
>>
>>48684296
Neither CC nor Soft Cap/1000 times break fiat. They never have and never will, go ask the jump makers if you want because this has come up in the past. If you want to claim they do, get one of the makers to confirm.

Fiat limitations exist plenty of times, just because people like you don't follow them doesn't mean they don't exist. If you want to act like that, please go back to SB where people like you congregate.

>implying
jumpmakers don't make rulings on inter jump interactions.
>>
>>48684311
Ah, I think that is just meant to be the order you learned them. There's no force making you train them in the order you learn them. You could learn Prime last and still get it to 5 first.

>>48684310
I think this one may just be a misunderstanding, rather than another fuckup.
>>
>>48684317
I think it's a new troll tactic, senpai. Take something we don't like and them extrapolate that to apply it to everything of its type (in this case fiat limits) and then construct a false consensus about ignoring all of them. Remember that our shitposter loves speaking for the whole thread.
>>
>>48684327
No. That literally isn't the case. If you learn an Arcana as your 4th Arcana, you can't learn it as anything greater than 4, even if you don't have any 5 dots.
>>
>>48684326
Indeed they don't. So why are you trying to say that perks from one jump break post spark/fiat limits in another? Why do the perks from one jump overrule the jump made limits in another and not vice versa?

>>48684329
Oh, I'm aware. Thankfully most of the people that come here are mostly reasonable about obvious things like this. Only spoke up because he might've given someone normal the wrong idea.
>>
>>48684344
Because any inter jump interactions are ruled by the jumper in every case whatsoever. He's literally right. If I decide to use those perks that way, then that's how they work, because that's how I decided they interact.
>>
>>48684342
Has the maker ever said anything about it?

Oh, and don't try and jump into a conversation I was part of in my place.
>>
>>48684354
Fuck off powerwanker.
Seriously though, whats wrong with these guys policing interjump interactions, jumpchain is single player.
>>
>>48684342
That's not how I read it. It's saying:
>Your first and second Arcana will always be your ruling

The first and second arcana you learn will always be your ruling arcana.

>while your third is the one you chose to invest a single free rank into

And you get one free rank in your third.

>The rest follow in order as you choose to purchase or learn them.

There's no mandatory order in how you learn the others, do it in whatever order you choose.

There's nothing about the order you choose to train them, or the levels you can train them too.

>>48684357
Oh, different person. Do you agree with the interpretation I have here? Is there something elsewhere in the jump I'm missing?
>>
>>48684357
>implying I was 'taking your place in the conversation'

>>
>>48684354
Okay. Go have fun in your single player adventure and stop telling other people how to interpret perks then. You spent a fair few posts telling people how perks work and do not work in various jumps above, surely you should follow your own advice and let them decide rather then force your views on others right?

>>48684361
Can't have it both ways mate. Either you think that it's all singleplayer in which case stop telling people what perks do and what limits do or do not apply or you follow the rules set out by various jump makers.
>>
>>48684368
>The rest follow in order as you choose to purchase or learn them.
This reads 'every arcana you learn progresses according to in what order you learned it in them all in the fist place'
>>
>>48684379
>Either you think that it's all singleplayer in which case stop telling people what perks do and what limits do or do not apply or you follow the rules set out by various jump makers.

Wait, hold up. Are you seriously implying jumpchain as it stands *isn't* singleplayer? And that the only way to actually play jumpchain in a single player manner is to just, not post, or ever converse with other people about it? Are you insane?
>>
>>48684147
Cardcaptor Sakura is a trap jump
>>
>>48684386
I think that means they are learned in the order you choose, but if you disagree I'm not going to convince you otherwise.
>>
>>48684397
No. I'm implying that it's at least partially a community based game. You know, since you talk about your chain here with other people who do it, abide by certain rules created by the community (Or else almost inevitably get chased off by said community) and so on?

Because you can have singleplayer, which is what jumpchain is, and still talk about it with people? Perks work certain ways in a vacuum, but there's always debate on how certain things work or interact with each other, and jumpmaker rulings on interactions between jumps are only as valid as anyone else's rulings.

You can argue all day about it because it's all interpretation, but we posit our interpretations and use them ourselves because they make sense to us, and because the reasoning behind those interpretations can be more informed or valid than others.

>>48684432
>>48684419
But positing of how Softcap or Folded 1000 Times is only that; I'm expressing my interpretation of how it works or how I chose to believe it can/would work in this circumstance, and how policy stands for ignoring jumpmaker rulings, because I advocate for it, and believe other people should also ignore it if they don't like it.

Wait, people dislike the archmastery post spark limit? I understand the gnosis one but I thought archmastery was pretty clear and agreed on that it's like Spiral Power or DBZ Ki or something.
>>
>>48684652
Yes.
>>
>>48684664
No, but Gnosis and Arcana limits are actually fiat limits, those are what's being talked about.

Well, at least from what I remember from Mage: the Ascension, there is not much of a difference between a 5 dots mage and an 6 dots archmage. The spells are basically the same.
>>
>>48684664
As far as I know it's the limit that is actually in the jump, not the limit that makes sense, that people are talking about, and discussing ignoring.

The issue is with imperial stuff, which is actually ridiculous.

Even with Gnosis 5 you can learn all ten arcana, just not up to Mastery. If they want to ignore that, it's on them. There's probably a perk or combo of perks that could let them do it anyway (but I don't know what).

Actually, there isn't if you listen to 'fiat limits are absolute and can't be circumvented by any method' guy, because they are fiat locked by jump maker ruling that you can never improve your arcana beyond what their listed rankings are in the order you learn them. So, your fourth arcana can never be above adept level, no matter what.

Which is dumb, so I'll ignore it, and anyone who also dislikes that ruling should also ignore it.

>You call always try Dark Binding archmasters from the Drawbacks and force them to use their powers

>fiat limits are absolute and can't be circumvented by any method

Not him, but frankly I don't even remember this being a rule at any point in jumpchain. Is this the same guy who says perks that work by fiat can't be defeated ever?

I'ma call him the fiatwanker, because he's the most obnoxious twat around.
>>
>>48684745
The jump maker will just rule that it doesn't work or that trying will cause you to autospark like he did with ASA's spirit shenanigans.
>>
Is there a perk that lets you make a copy of someone or put someone's memory in a golem or the like?
>>
>>48684746
...you're kidding right? I can understand ignoring dumb limits but you can't seriously have this line of thought.
>>
>>48684745
At the risk of drawing the fiatwanker's attention there is a non-zero chance they could escape the dark binding. Some non-archmaster death spells already allow you to cheat death or hijack bodies. Not saying they're untouchable by it, just that you'd be in for an uphill struggle against an archmaster specialised in Life or Death. Assuming you got close enough to apply it in the first place and they're not just Fating or Spacing all over the place

>>48684753
He didn't say anything about autosparking. And as was pointed out, doing the thing in another jump calls into question whether he has the right to make rulings in another jump at all.
>>
>>48684746
It's not like I even disagree with him about how fiat works, I just think that jumpers can overrule fiat where they don't like it, or if it interacts with other fiat, the jumper has the authority to decide how it works.

Doesn't matter, that's what's fiat locked alongside Gnosis. Archmastery being locked is actually incidental to the fact that you cannot go beyond the Arcana and Gnosis limits under any circumstances by jumpmaker fiat.

>>48684885
That isn't the issue at all. The issue was the fact that the ruling for mage is retarded in the first place, and that people could, and in my opinion should, just ignore it.

Actually from what I understand the SRW jump covers a canon called Original Generation that doesn't include Spiral Power users.

The notes seem to imply the default splats are included, there's a drawback for the 2e splats to be present and there's a drawback for your prior nWOD actions to carry over.

I can't change your mind other than tell you I know who you mean, and I think he's scum. Maybe it's because literally no one ever wants to post when people are shitposting? We're on page ten, it won't be long until we fall off the board, and me or someone else if I don't feel up to it makes the next thread. People will post then, and they'll wait if people are acting like assholes in the thread.
>>
>>48685116
This. If people didn't turn this into metaposting and stuck to the topic of MtA fiat and such, then maybe people would actually post.
>>
>>48685132
Honestly I think it's also that some people are just sick to death of MtA fiat and the salt involved. I can't be the only one, can I?

Maybe we should just talk about another jump. Like how you saved/murdered the Diconii in Elfen Lied. Or how your time in Medaka Box or Medaka's box if you waifued her was. Or whether a Majikoi jump would work, followed by scaring the Narutofags, Wormfags and Bleachfags with Momoyo's feats.

Worst of all some shithead who thinks he's hilarious is most likely going to reply with an ironic HURR NO WE ARGUE NOW because he can't think of anything better to contribute.
>>
>>48685154
>Medaka's box if you waifued
I'm going to stop you right there; you could not have worst taste. She is actually mary sue garbage, worse than any jumper, because the entire point is that she's generic as fuck.
>>
>>48685154
Momoyo's mainly got crazy high stats and energy blasts. Maybe end of Naruto tier, bit beyond? Most of the series mentioned would probably beat her if they used a lot of the various hax that they have, though in a straight 1 v 1 no hax raw power fight she should come up on top (Unless you take Wildbow seriously which you shouldn't.)

Either way we should have a Majikoi jump because it's one of the most enjoyable and pure fun VNs ever made.
>>
>>48685167
You're not wrong, and she's not my waifu. I also think having waifus is silly but that's another issue. She is a pretty terrible person deep down though, like everyone else there.

What I disagree is that she's worse than any Jumper, meaningfully. And honestly? Don't make me laugh by implying Jumpers have standards. She's got a nice rank and thighs by anime girl standards, which I can appreciate.
>>
>>48685167
I'd rather Ajimu. She seems like she's a perfect fit for a jumper.
>>
>>48685180
I thought she can fire DBZ-style energy beams because she's girl Saitama or something.

I guess? Haven't read it but from what I've heard it sounds like a more chillaxed Medaka Box in some ways.

>>
>>48685183
No, I mean that she was written as a mary sue to fulfill the requirements of one so that the author could appropriately rag on/parody shounen manga, the entire point of her character in the narrative is her role in the metanarrative, which is as the main character.
>>
>>48685196
So's F/SN and it's not focused on LOLLEWDLEWDANDLEWDY like, say, Monstergirl Quest.

From what I can tell it's actually focused on a mix of weaboo fightin' magic competitions between different schools and slice of life.
>>
>>48685192
>implying
I take ample advantage of those free hugs Worm gives you.
>>
>>48685189
She can but that's because Ki (Or something that's essentially the same) does actually exist in setting (Though only a few people seem to use it). She's noted to be crazy strong by everyone's standards and getting stronger but she's not the strongest around, since there's at least 1-2 people her equal.

It's really good actually. Real relaxed, loads of friendly, nice characters and some fun but not overly stressful or dark or edgy.

>>48685196
So's Fate. Majikoi's not any more lewds then Fate is. You can cut all all the sex scenes and the entire setting is still there and still great.

>>48685200
Well, technically not. It was originally just a humour manga based around her being perfect, not parodying shounen stuff. It then turned into a normal shounen battle style manga and only after that turned into the shonen parody/deconstruction it's best known for.

In Medaka Box I was a Minus via drawback. I spent a lot of time talking about the futility of things, and how people shouldn't try.
Despite being such a downer, I was pretty okay friends with the other Minuses. And I got to do a couple great villain monologues, so that was pretty neat.

> talkin' about Mary Sues
I'm gonna let you guys in on a secret.
As the author of my own chain, in which I consistently retcon events, change outcomes, and tweak storylines, I will never lose, ever.

Although, I suppose if we assume that the multiverse is truly infinite, I could also be doing a thing where every time I retcon a storyline or alter a build, the "previous Konata" now inhabits a doomed timeline, sortof like Chrono Cross.
Perhaps hundreds of Konatanons have already died in that way.

So that is also a fun thing to think about.
>>
>>48685352
>>48685358
Magic boosting perks don't always work like that though. There are some magic perks that don't just make the effects broader or more potent, but more precise, and arguably a lot of them least make magic more precise and versatile alongside more potency.

So I woke up in Eternia and there was something going on with these people, the warriors of light, they had just escaped or something. So me and my companions sort of tagged along. Something seemed off with the fairy. I didn’t get a chance to interrogate her because someone Snowflame can now steal stuff from people’s minds… I didn’t know that and that is horrifying.

Anyways he makes the fairy go boom. The light Warriors turn on us because captain foresight didn’t think to tell anyone that he was going to do this… we fight it out a bit as the fairy seems to be dying but we get things settled just in time for the fairy to turn in to some horrible monster.

So we kill the fairy thing good this time. Apparently though by doing stuff with the crystals we were breaking dimensional barriers and, if we don’t do it the world goes out of whack, so it looks like our best option is to finish and then kill the big bad when he enters the world to eat everything.

Yeah this plan officially sucks. We dim hop some more, Snowflame kills more fairies… he actually tries to start grinding their wings in to dust to snort…. Adam is begging me at this point just to leave him in an alternate world.

Anyways we make it to Ouroboros who starts kicking our butts pretty hard I Norito both Akitsu and Arcueid who hit him hard enough he actually has to destroy worlds to recover… Anges’ does something with a crystal and calls upon thousands of different versions of everyone to blow him the hell up.

So we spend find a nice tropical island and spend the rest of our time retired on the beach.
>>
>>48685310
Yeah, but that still runs into the issue of, say, not being a master in an arcana. I have magic boosting perks, but that means nothing apparently because of the arcana cap, which say you can never go above the stated limits of the arcana.
