Just tried this out alongside the quickstart rules guide, and I had a lot of fun with it.

I feel like it does a good job of teaching the basics of the system to anyone willing to learn it and/or anyone new to RPGs. Another thing I liked is how it was written/formatted like an old CYOA book like I used to have. Having multiple endings is a nice touch, as it gives a good replay value to it as well.

Has anyone else tried this out, and if so, how did you like it?

I tried it about a year ago. Died horribly, had some good fun. It really helped to have an early taste of 7th edition.

Funnily enough I managed to get the escaped in disguise ending on my first try. I feel like I'll send it to my friends and see if they're interested in playing CoC.

Maybe also link Paul Fricker's videos.

7th is definitely the best CoC so far. They took a lot of spread out information and compiled it in a new structure, making the whole thing accessible again. The new sanity details are great! Pushing rolls and luck spending work wonderfully. The sheet makes more sense. Success levels and directly opposed rolls, especially in combat, make everything run very smoothly and fast.

It's a great game. So well made, it's a good generic base for homebrews of any flavor.

Holy fuck dude, are you me? I started playing it yesterday, finished it today, ended up escaping (kinda)

I'm a newbie at PNP/tabletops in fact, a friend dropped the idea to look into it and I've been reading into coc for a week now (d&d never felt too enticing and I'm a big fan of lovecraftian horror)

Loved the solo adventure btw, the way it handled secrets was great too. I would love to get more input by people that actively played coc, I don't see it discussed often for the time ive been browsing /tg/

Strange as the yogsothery has been a recent development on /tg/ and I see them once a week talking about CoC.

You must be new.

We used to have extensive CoC threads, some of which yielded PDFs. We still do sometimes.

Lately the best horror game ideas have been from situation threads: the elevator, the highway, the hotel, ...

And of course there's Night Shift.

Those aren't /tg/ level CoC threads. It's just incoherent reposts.

Dude! Exact same here. Private Investigator too?

As I said, I am new, started monitoring /tg/ last week and I didn't happen to catch CoC mentioned anywhere. Good to hear it has plenty people playing, it left me a pretty good impression.

I went for a professor kind of guy, worked pretty good at the end.
Apparently there are 4 more adventures like that out there, I'll be looking for the pdfs until I get the chance to play with a friend.

Take this, anon. A gift.

Wow! Thank you kind Sir.

No problem, anon. I just reposted it from the last fileshare thread.

Cold Harvest looks like a bunch of fun though. Absolutely hate the faux-cyrillic, but eh, it's too common to really get mad about.
