Haven't played it, only read the rulebook. Character generation seems awesome, and the game supposedly plays a bit similar to Malifaux (big surprise). I doubt it'd be harder to get into than most other RPGs on the market, so if you like the setting or even play Malifaux, go for it.

Game is a lot of fun. I love how low stats are as rewarded as high stats as negative and positive attributes both gain access to fun talents (feats) that inform how to play the character. The class system is also quite cool and I love the magic system.

I'd say that playing on a smaller table is a plus so that everyone can reach the central deck (My players ended up having to pass around the deck a lot) and be sure to remind players that barring manifested abilities or mastering magia/imouto, that the spells in their spellbook are all they get. But you do get some cool combinations if you play with the magical theories.

Yes, but you can only take one trigger per attack. So if you were going to get multiple triggers like critical strike or something you couldn't use both at once.

On the balance side its not really overpowered to reload like this, most guns balanced around reload time have more than 2AP.

Yeah well I have been playing ressers a lot lately. The Seamus mad bomber crew I ran was fucking brutal which is why I kinda wanna take it again. See my meta is kinda weird because we have 14 regular players in it plus me, and I own at least 4 masters of every faction. So it's always a mystery what I'm going to bring up when I play. I think everyone got complacent with me running Molly and Seamus for a while though. So maybe I ought to go with something they really won't expect. They haven't really seen me play outcasts much and other than 1 main gremlin player, there aren't really any of them. So none of them really fear the swine.

I just don't see why they can't do multipart kits like their TTB models. These figures are inevitably going to be made of PVC, which is just less than ideal. I guess we can see how much they charge for these. Something like Dust's model count and price would be ideal.

So I'm ordering Sandeep and was looking for academics from other factions to play. A quick google showed me that a lot of people are hyped about the Valdedictorian - but the model is fucking hideous. What base size is the model on? It looks 50MM? Also anyone have any suggestions for a mini to replace it with? Something with that arcanist maybe sandeep feel to it?

Well I checked out the local scene in my new town and it's absolutely dead. The guy at one LGS asked me three times what I was looking for 'Mali-foe? Malififo? May-lee-fo?' before I finally described it as 'a skirmish game with cowboys' and he took me to a dusty shelf with about six models on it.

The owner other LGS, which had a 'Malifaux Casual League June-July 2015' on their Facebook's "past events" page, was way more enthusiastic, but he described it as 'more of a play-at-home game.'

That's obscene activation control, especially if you don't need to spend it or can generate it early in the game.

Ordered stuff for my brother and I. He got oni stuff, minus Jorogumo because he can't accept paying 9stones for them. I got pretty much all the outcasts except hodgepodge, with Jaakuna and Anna.

I thought about getting The Tortoise and the Hare, but then I realized that I didn't want to pay $49 for two models. I picked up Jorogumo for my Misaki crew and Titania's box as I like how they look, and have always wanted to get into Neverborn.

Overall I am happy with the new stuff that they are putting out. I can't wait to get my hands on the book to see what has been happening to the fluff. The Governor trying to become a tyrant is news to me, but I haven't really be following the fluff up until now.

I don't suppose anyone has any info on the poison gamin. Either beta stuff or stuff from gencon is fine.

I know that the game doesn't really focus on consistent army builds, but what does this look like for a 30 stone build? I'm doing a grow league and bought the Bayou Box, Explosive Solutions Box, Gracie, and Slop haulers.

Skeeters are ok, but for a lot of Gremlin masters Old Cranky is a better totem.

He has a solid gun, can interact, filter a shit card, and start giving your crew free Soulstones on kills.

Somer in particular can be really kills with his gun, so the free Soulstones will come quickly and let him stay alive longer or stone in Masks for his summon.

Every other merc doesn't have any hiring restriction and just costs one soul stone extra.

Lazarus specifically has rules on his card that prevent him from being fired in Guild. Fluff reason is they put his soul in a robot and didn't tell him we could never be a person again, so he's reasonably pissed at them. I'm curious if there was a balance issue the fluff is covering for.

I'd like to hear the reasoning. I could concede lower detailed models (even those of the Malifaux range) are a bit easier to customize, but I really haven't met many people irl or online who came from a kit bashing/customization background who also play Malifaux. That's usually quite common for the more autistic games. It really comes down to being lazy with pinning and putty.

Metals were the topic of the previous quote, I erroneously assumed it continued to be. I actually have 2 new Lucius boxes, one for customizing and another for standard sculpt. I've gotten a few Canadians and Europeans to forward me stuff from shops that don't ship to the US for a small commission. Imo it actually seems like the price of quite a few metals are dropping. I really only worry able it becoming a preorder when mechanisms and components aren't broke presented fully. I also feel that's what saves us from that same fate. Video game mechanisms are mostly hidden and the player only notices a fraction, while our analog games reveal everything. We typically have more information to go on and can drop out anytime. There has also been a drop in successful funds though competition is still pretty high. I think it bodes well for us.

For the metal situation, the most recent annoyance was Hamelin's box. I got it for $20, which isn't a bad deal. However, I then need to pick up a wretch, which I've never seen below $13 without counting shipping. At $33 I can spend two more bucks to get a plastic crew, and if I base the ghost rat blob separately as a Rat King I even get an extra model and up to date cards.

As a gross generalization, I feel Rusty provides preemptive disruption with more reliable damage while Mont gives diverse, heavy burst disruption and damage. Rusty is pretty straightforward and from what I've seen people are less prone to overcommitting her as opposed to Montressor.

There's no doubt that Monty has his uses. I was just saying that Rusty's abilities become even better with the tormented trait especially if Creeping Terror is on someone that can see her. A TO ruled that a model with 3 inch reach can still charge her since they stop at the edge of three inches and can just tap her.

Speaking of TO's, I'm buying a minirulebook and sticky noting that shit. Got screwed a few times from bad calls. Like Monty's 0 action upgrade and he got to pick the order of what was pulled.

But question for the Daw players.

Not a JD player, but I'd argue that her usefulness depends on who you face and what your strats are. Against melee heavy crews she seems brutal, against anything with decent ranged attacks (especially Ca ones) her usefulness drops. Also she is best when she can affect a lot of enemies with her aura, for example during Turf War/Extraction.

How do you get that? By turn two there will likely be corpse and/or scrap for her to get close enough to start her summoning with extra flicker. Her totem can increase conditions, including flicker, needing a 9 to cast. Even the new Oni upgrade has a way to up flicker. And Obsidian Oni have a trigger on their attack to drop scrap helping get more flicker on the summons.

On top of all that she has a strong attack and good support actions. I predict the opposite, she's going to be strong and heavily effect several metas

The problem is that her summons are pretty much just her only trick. Other summoners can actually support, everything other than her summoning and the tendrils are very lacking.

Even without her summons she's still very card intensive, the 9 to cast not helping, needs to essentially babysit her summons because one wayward condition removal kills the summon and her summoning toolbox is rather limited.

Tengu are useless because they have to stick near her and if you have them survive more than a turn that's resources that couldve gone somewhere much better instead, so that leaves the Yokai and Oni that are forced to float around her, which are fine but isn't gonna win you matches.

I'd hoped her upgrades would give her gameplay options, but all it does is try to make up for the glaring faults of her ability.

Dunno, I'd love to be proved wrong but something about her just seems very poorly designed.

I'll agree on having a rather limited pool of Oni to summon.

Again not sure why you think she is card intensive. Aside from summoning all her abilities need a 6 and have the suit built in.

As far as summoning Tengu you only bother with that if you want to let it die for Heavenly Design or you summon it where it will get extra flicker and don't bother with other abilities to keep it alive. I'd only focus on keeping things like a Jorogumo or maybe the new Yokai if they are any good. And aside from when they first get summoned her crew doesn't need to stick with her, Not sure what the range one her totem's condition thing is.

And to me the scariest things about her are giving out that focus +2 and her melee attack. That could make some models like Ama or even a then thunder brother hit realy hard. Then Another Mouth to Feed is scarily similar to Misaki's though with out Stalking Bisento and Diving Charge it's not nearly the same.

I'd toss Heavenly Design, Nefarious Pact, and Recalled Training on her maybe take her hench and the new rider oni then tailor the rest f the crew to the schemes and strats.
