Too much of the deck is 3-4 drops, you're not going to get stuff on the tabke early game. A decent human is Thalia's Lieutenant, currently a low value rare but solid with all the human creatures in there. Use these in place of the huge vampire, you'll probably lose games before you get any use from it.

I need help. It's pretty consistent, but I feel the Wincon of "slam with bodies" might not be enough. It's so far pretty good at keeping the board clean, though. Problem: ganes tend to be close, down to 5ish life in most cases. I want another thought- knot seer, but dunno what to take out for it.

It's better to open a mythic than a foil rare because mythics most often have a majority of the value.
Foil rares are rarer than mythics. You get one foil anything every 8 boosters and 1 mythic every 8 boosters. There's like a 1/14 chance your foil is on a rare slot instead of the 3/14 chance for an uncommon rare and the 5/7 chance for a foil common.

I'd drop the Incendiary Flow for Draconic Roar personally, 4 damage is nothing to scoff at in one card. With Incendiary you would stay on the same mana curve (which looks decent as is).

It varies. If I opened a Tree of Perdition I'd not be too thrilled. On the other hand, if I opened a Foil Spell Queller I would be ecstatic. Depends on the Value of the card, there are junk mythics and junk rares. Sometimes a foil of 1 is not worth the value of the other.

Yeah I probably should have explained my reasoning.

I think vampires and madness in general lend themselves to a faster deck, with a lower curve and emphasis on creatures. I've tried Midrange vampires and they always have muddy draws and never really come together too well.

Theres that Japanese pariah deck I urge you to try if your interested in Midrange but it's mono black and pretty linear.

It's to give off the illusion of popularity, anon. If their store is full of people playing games, it looks like they're a successful business, which means random people are more likely to walk in and buy a starter deck or something. Every single store owner I've ever talked to has explained the same problem to me: they absolutely hate collectible games and the crowd that plays them because the players never buy any shit in-store, but they HAVE to let them play there in order to get randoms to wander in.

They can't pay the bills without letting these people (who don't even spend any money in their store) hang out in their store. Sometimes all day. It's fucked up.

idk about everyone else but my local store doesn't put up with shit ever

I live in Montana but I live in a University town so we have a fairly large influx of young people here every year so we always have a fresh supply of mtg players as well as the wierd 40+ year olds that stick around and play

recently the block store Hastings has gone bankrupt and the store is closing. With Hastings closing there are now only 2 shops left in my town that run FNM. One is on the opposite side of town from the Uni and the other (the one I go to) is like 3 blocks from my house and around 6 blocks from the uni

We have kicked out and banned any players that don't meet two fairly easy standards

1. Hygiene (clean yourself, idiot)
2. Don't be an asshole (if you have to ask you are probably fucking up, idiot)

I had a few friends that would try and attend multiple tournaments and catch FNM at both stores. They are telling me now that they actually cannot stand the other store because all the mongoloids that we have banned from the good one are now shitting up the other place

I also heard they may be shutting down soon too since those fucks never actually buy anything

There's a similar one here in Portland. They serve beer and it's mostly filled with people who aren't asswipes. Tons of other games are played there as well as the store is fuck-huge. Magic usually only takes up one small section while the rest is filled with people playing D&D and a ton of board games.

I was running that version that was featured in goldfish, the original decklist. Either you had Brain in a Jar, Whelming Wave, or the deck was too slow. Either you couldn't get enough value or they got their tempo going and you lost anyway.

Not a fan of that one. It aims for an awakened land victory. Which is good. But really requires getting out Jace's Sanctum early and probably multiple. With Dromoka's Command Main Boarded in Bant Humans and Bant CoCo, you just get your Santum's wiped. Making it nearly impossible to finish the game. And since they know you will be running Sanctum's even post sideboard they will still have the Dromoka's Command so you can't even sideboard in the Thing in the Ice because Dromoka's is the kill card against it.

My LGS upcharges for almost everything so people naturally don't want to buy their snacks all the time except in emergency or for getting rewards points (5 points for every interval of 5 spent above 10; 15 = 10 points). I bring in water bottles for when I come in but so does everyone else, it's only smart since our city is like a rainforest.

I'll say that they don't upcharge for stuff like sleeves or deckboxes, and actually beat out Walmart for MtG boosters (3.99 vs 4.10).

They're super cool and let players order pizza delivery to the store but I don't know how much this pisses them off behind the scenes. People sure aren't stiffing them on actual game material or comic book sales, as they charge 25-35 cents for singles you can get on TCG for 8 cents, or 2-3 dollars more for midrange rares, scaling higher for rarity.

honestly all my stores are very nice, they all have respectable customers, almost no one is ever rude.
Every once in a while someones salty but at that point it never escalates to anything.
All stores are able to ship out packs, merch, and especially singles, they all compete with the online mid from tcgplayer, so getting them at the store is sometimes cheaper cause it saves you shipping or they just have it on demand, which is nice.
One of my local one make pancakes or waffles every week or so, just as a thanks for the business, and has an internet cafe portion that lets you play overwatch, league, wow, etc.
Another one is attached to an Ultra Arcade, with classics to modern game, they sell bubble tea, and other snacks, and will let you bring in anything, from pizza to booze, plus they tend to go another 5% lower than the average price for a single, so a Lili would be like 38$ instead of 40$, and thats the same for all there singles, and they even sell online, incase you cant physically get to the store.
Other store also has a few computers to play on as well as consoles anyone can get on to play the latest games like smash 4 or CoD, and they have a large selection of singles, also fairly priced, and have TV, so they'll have WWE Smackdown or NBA, or NFL just broadcasting, and if the weekend, live streaming the SCG Open, Grand Prixs, or whatever while you play magics. Only one person on average smells and not all the time either, since they're usually aware they're the only one that smells they actually come back next time all showered up.
There's 2 stores that arent that great, despite the mass amount of variety of product they have(like figurines, body pillows, comics, etc) But that's only cause the Yugioh crowd and the store owners general laziness/imcompetency.
And one average store, but they have a lot of different table top diversity, not just magic, so if warhammer, and other games like such are ur schtick then u'd just go there.

Okay, this is not even close to Affinity Ravager or Caw-Blade. Don't forget that Bant Company was also easily the most played and dominant deck during SOI standard until the Pro Tour, where it was supplanted by GW Tokens. The same thing will happen by the end of this weekend, and you'll feel like an idiot for complaining when you the pros show what the actual busted decks are.

And don't complain about Siege Rhino either. Abzan Control was an imminently beatable deck if you played G/r Devotion, Esper, UR Tutelage, etc. It was the most consistent deck for cashing, but it was far from unbeatable.

I guess the point I was trying to make was that Meme Rhino era was actually probably the best that Standard has ever been, and that's coming from someone who has been playing since Urza's block. Think about SOI Standard - it was dominated by GW Tokens and Bant. Think about BfZ Standard - dominated by Rally. Think about RTR-Theros Standard - dominated by Black/Blue Devotion. Think about prior to that - every format has had a 'dominant' deck. That's the nature of having a format with a small card pool, and it's only really a problem when a deck becomes truly oppressive and can't be attacked on any angles (Of recent note, Rally was more guilty of this than Bant, by far). Beating Bant is incredibly simple, and the Pro Tour will demonstrate that fact. Yes, it's over-represented right now... but the format is still fine.

I've been playing around with Magic Origins and I'm surprised how much I've enjoyed playing Emerging Horror. I originally figured Emerge was just a shitty 2 for 1 mechanic, but playing the deck and getting card advantage from sacrificing and upon casting (meaning even if the emerged creature is countered, I still either have things come into play, draw a card, etc) has really made me turn around on it. Do you think it's possible to put together a solid budget Emerge deck in standard? Or is this something that will only work in Magic Origins?

Not a ton but you need stuff to start doing it straight away which is exactly what Magmatic Insight and Gather the Past do. The funny thing is that somehow in brewing and testing i've actually just remade RG Ramp deck that's already in standard but i ended up reversing the way it ramps, as in it ramps by lands entering from the graveyard rather than the library.

The real problem i'm facing is that i'm finding a lack of permanent or land sac outlet to truly abuse this shenanigan.

Alright, I've drank the R/B madpires koolaid, using a similar list to the guy who made day 2 at SCG with it.

White weenie is losing all its early beaters in the coming rotation, I hope madpires can supplant it as go-to early aggro thanks to new toys like condemned and furyblade vampires

It's also the only deck that gets to play lightning bolt in standard thanks to fiery temper, which is nice.

Most of my valuable cards are DFCs like Avacyn and Gisela which don't go in my deck as my sleeves aren't opaque enough. It makes the decision really easy as I can doublesleeve the valuables while not making my deck bulkier.

Also my Avacyns and Gisela's are foil so it's really a must, it's stops them from curling.

Most of the pros are either on RG, BG or RUG delirium with Emrakul as like a 3 of in there lists. It wrecks coco.

I said in way back in a bunch of old threads that BG(or delirium decks) for that matter are a real deal when I posted a quick 10 minute list. I wasn't however expecting however a spicy RG delirium ramp or even a RUG version. I had never even considered such variants.

Pro tip: buy Kozilek's Return. Emrakul or Deep Fiend triggering it is the most powerful play in the format right now. Can't even be countered by Spell Queller as it's a trigger.

Deep Fiend is gonna move too, it's up to 5 now from 3 and seeing play in all the emerge decks and some Bant Coco. Traverse is only about 2-3 but will definitely double as it's a 4-of.

I've wanted to get into mtg for a long time now, but don't really know how. I've played the computer version a bit but I honestly feel like physical cards would be much more fun. I want to keep it low-key though, I am not going to join my schools card club. Any advice?

I'm thinking of making budget golgari sac deck based around Nantukos and Rot Shamblers.

But the question is how do i fit into that deck shit allowing me to put the damage into my opponents face without being blocked that doesn't take spot of removal or garveyard interaction.

Ideas?

Shit that costs me more mana than 3 is From Beyond only and the deck has lots of low cost creatures like Blisterpods and Reassembling Skellymans, so I will usually need that mana open.

Just made a weird Jeskai Prowess/Control deck that works fairly well. It offers a bit more finesse and thinking than my UR Prowess zergfest.

Can't wait to see it get crushed by a Bant CoCo, though.

My current zombie deck.
Has worked well so far.
Love discarding Prized amalgam to bring haunted dead back to the battlefield.
For 2 mana, I can generate at least 3 creatures and potentially up to 6 creatures in an opponents turn. Add Elder deep fiend to that and you've potentially ended a game.
