A villain worth his salt would have a playback installed in his throne room or any other place where he plans final confrontation.
It makes sure the speech comes out clear even when they have sore throat on the day of confrontation and that the monologue will be finished even when battle starts too soon.

Oh yes. One of the characters I play would certainly make triple-sure everything worked, and if he'd want to monologue, he'd make sure it got through. Then again, having absurd Int in an evil game does that.

The other character is literally on the other end of the scale. People who monologue are either up to something, mad, too in love with their voice or, usually, all of those. Better shoot and never ask questions.

There were literally only two posts taking the highroad of "Nuh uh, I'm not evil at all" anywhere in the thread before you posted. Read before shitposting.

And it never does because unless the PCs are being goddamned edgelords and hurting innocents for no reason or resorting to lethal force when none has been threatened against them then this nonsense falls flat because only one group will stop being dicks once the enemy is dead and it sure as hell isn't the BBEG.

It's fine in a constructed narrative where the author can control the traits of all characters, but this is an interactive medium.

Okay, but who here wouldn't call railroading if no matter what you tried beating him at his own game or resorting to his methods were the only things that worked? Yes, it's fun for those things to be true in a non-interactive medium, but at the game table the PCs have to either be uncreative or the GM has to MAKE it true.

/tg/ has been filled to the brim for years with stories of a GM presenting only this one course of action as viable with the PCs then ignoring it entirely in favor of the actions they just came up with. The tone of the story depends on whether the PCs' plan was actually good or not and how the GM handled being blind-sided, but "The BBEG is super manipulative and you HAD to stoop to his level to beat him" works out better in the GM's head than at the table.

It depends on how much the game's rules are already restricted - can the PC's make a work around to something considered required? - and yes, how much the GM is gonna overtly railroad - I say this because getting railroaded in the background isn't necessarily as bad, because then the players still are making their own choices in some sense.
