DO:
- Post what you want to do with your list (tournament, casual, etc.)

So im working on an ashen claws list atm.
The plan is to use the mor deythan Squad as the ashen claw combined With alwarex and a apothecarion to establish a forward point where i can coordinate deep striking flyers and outflanking veterans
im probably gona put the furies in the storm eagle so they dont get a pieplate on their head in turn 2 With an assult ramp i should be pretty mobile With a 6 inch move 6 inch deployment and a fleet charge that can kill anyting exept a primarch.

Fire raptor is there for light anti tank and infantry removal + its a cool model

the caestus is far from an optimal Choice but its pretty durable With a str8ap1 pieplate and can carry one of the veteran units probably With + ws

the strike fighter is my go to spartan/typhon removal unit its just plain nasty.

so this list lacks staying Power but the goal is to take out most of the big nastys before getting into Close combat and runing away when they have to.

Thems the breaks. I also don't have that much in the way of transports so those rhino's are really all I got, also the centurions I have work better just sitting back and blasting things then they do up front considering I also don't have the grav cents. More multi-meltas....that I can do.

And yes, we routinely have to deal with an Eldar and Tau player who both tend to bring nothing but the biggest cheese bullshit they can field, so an Aquila Strongpoint is small potatoes compared to that. Especially when I know the Tau will be doing the deepstriking suit spam and the eldar player will be bringing the D in full force plus as many of those wind riders as possible.

Your formatting is atrocious, creed is not being used and is dead weight, why is there a flakk missile launcher in the CCS. Give some of those vets meltas. That exterminator has no idea what its doing, change it to a vanquisher and it might be less schizo. Drop the flakk missile in your CCS and either multimelta sponsons or lascannon or swap the russ entirely.

You'll be rickety rekt by most lists even at 2k, what happens when someone brings eidelon/three dreads/a leviathan/literally any primarch. Rhino's are way too fragile in 30k, your metal boxes are more like cardboard than 40k. Swap the vet missiles to HBolters to take better advantage of marksmen.

Your techmarine does nothing, ever. Chaplain does not need an auspex or digital weapons, the points are needed elsewhere. You do not need three tac squads, take two troops choices total, an extra seven marines does nothing to help you when someone could take 50 guardsmen for the same cost. Your vanguard vets are bizzarely expensive and a single battlecannon will wipe half of them out despite the three storm shields. Keep it simple, stupid. Your dreadpod does not want a deathwind launcher. Keep it simple. Your ass squad could deepstrike without the pod by giving them jump packs, and will be much more effective afterwards. Your dev squad has heavy bolters in a pod, the only weapon that is good on pod devs is the multimelta because it doesnt have to snapshot. The armorium cherub is not needed, drop it. The predator is fine. The entire list is a schizophrenic mess, which is fine, but its not good and you will lose most games.

You will be hated for bringing an aquila to a no-superheavies game. Just a heads up. If your friend is bringing the fortifications, you ought to bring some stuff to move around and grabobjectives, so good work. Don't know about Tigirius rather than something either cheaper or fightier, so you can get more stuff/fight off random smashfuckers for a few turns. Otherwise, looks pretty decent.

You can't spell for nuts, but other than that it looks like a pretty solid list. You will run into problems with anything super durable (2w termies, primarchs and 20-man tac blobs), anything as fast/faster than you (Night lords, Bangels, White scars) and anything particularly shooty (IW, Ultramarines and Fists in cover). Unless you play against people who specialise though, you ought to be fine.

Depends on what you want them to be doing. Generally, its better to either have them sit on an objective in your rearfield in order to be able to fire a single heavy weapon (which is still not that great) or have them mobile in a rhino to tie up opponent squads, take mid and rear objectives, and be a general nuisance. Now that seventh has everything scoring, its generally best to be mobile with objective secured.

Assassinorum is a lackluster formation, since the eversor is shit, the vindicare is mediocre, the callidus is decent, and the Culexus is amazing. May as well just take the culexus and leave the rest on the shelf. Other than that, give your daemonhammers to non-justicars so as to not get challenged out by schmucks, leaving you helpless. Other than that it looks pretty good. Draigo is expensive, but he will murder everything in the game if he can catch them

I'd argue giving one dude a gun that out-ranges the rest of the squad that only he can fire at particular targets said squad would normally not be able to harm is an extreme waste of efficiency. BUT if you're so inclined a 5 man team with 1 heavy weapon is less an issue as you aren't losing as much, hell just give em a razorback with TL lascannon for extra heavy weapon that will basically sit back and shoot things.

Here is the thing I want to make a demo game for a friend and i, and i have a beastmen army (he doesn't have anything) but I haven't fully understand how AoS list building works (example minotaurs cost 180 for 3, so I can only go for units of 3,6,9 and 12 or can I have a unit of 5 because each one must cost 60 points ... For the record I start reading the General's handbook but android epub readers fuck the formatting so much that it's really hard to get some things and still haven't found where the razor pitch battle profile)

In my experience. leaving Dominions inside Repressors ends up with the Repressor getting shot in the side until its hull points are gone, and the dominions assaulted, if only to prevent them firing again.

I just used Flyrants as an example. Dominions have strong alpha-strike potential to hit things like invisibilty deathstars before they power up. Against Necrons, I'd outflank to get behind those pesky Wraiths.

Well fucking scratch that. In 40k it's a perfectly valid question, because the system is retardedly broken. Either you pick the best units and get lucky or you die like a faggot, there is no game.

On a more positive note, there are a shitload of ways to play 40k so it's not as black and white as this, you can easily set up games so that this isn't the case and have a good time, which is why I still play. But in "serious" competitive environments, this will always be the case.

No, Polish is slang for a full 20 orders, something the Poles do a lot in international competition.

It is a strong way to play, and is not easily countered by new players.

Semi-competitive fun with my group, no threat of flyers or LoW, highest AV I deal with is 12. Lots of terrain so the Manticore should keep deployment zones spread out and not bunching up to hide out of LOS. Hoping the tanks can be alright objective holders, tank shocking and shooting enemies off of them with melta vet support.

Got a 1000pt Tau list made up to hopefully play with on Friday if I can get everyone's bases painted up and at least up to their knees finished so I can glue them all on by then.
This'll be the first time I've played 40k in just over a year and my first time ever playing Tau. My LGS usually likes to play 1500pt games, but I'm just barely short of models to do that (unless I pull out the Stormsurge I painted that made me want to make this army, but that seems a little dickish at 1500), so I'm stuck at 1000 for the time being.

Any suggestions on changes to unit comp or what I should get next? I'm planning to get some more Fire Warriors and another devilfish or 2 for them, as well as 1 more unit of pathfinders and possibly some Piranhas as of right now, but all I know about building Tau is "muh Riptide" so any help would really be appreciated.

Also, a question on the Shield Drones. I assume they give that save to the entire unit, but I can't find anything in the rules that says it 100%. All it says is it gives a 4+ invul, but it doesn't specify if it's ONLY for the drone or if it's the entire unit it's attached to. Like I said, I haven't played in over a year, so I may be forgetting some universal rule that clarifies this, so does the Shield Drone give that 4++ to the unit it is attached to?

They're mostly undertooled because of the low point list, but I also never really liked dumping a huge amount of points into one unit. I was planning to have them leapfrog just in front of the commander to hit targets with markerlights for him and soften up anything too big nearby.

Here is a small 500 pt team for what I currently own model wise for Astra Militarum. Just trying it out small and gonna work up from there.

Was thinking maybe a wraithlord next, as I love wraith stuff but don't want to be a dick. Dark reapers are also an option. No idea who I'm facing next, so it needs to be an all- rounder list. How do Hawks do on the tt?

I understand what you are trying to achieve here but seriously : blob guard is a shitty 1d4chan meme that does not work in practice.

Especially at 2k points : your opponent will have enought firepower to mow down enought of your guys so that their number doesn't matter. Meanwhile your conscripts blobs will do nothing.

Is a gunslinger inquisitor any good? 2 plasma shots at bs4 for 45 points to pal around with plasmolytes seems pretty good, especially if I get a good monkey roll, but I dunno.

My bad, split the 10 man ranger squad in two and knock one servitor of the techmarine.

Same points and now the skitarii are a maniple.

My store is letting us use grand alliance stuff on all allegiances to deal with the tree things, so the priest has the crown of conquest and great destroyer (fo da hits) for the double inspiring presence (no battle shock on monks) and the furnace will have the chaos talisman to keep it alive.

In addition to that, I've gott a bunch of models, but I'm not sure the best way to break them into squads

I rarely find the Librarian worth it. Take a Chaplain with Mace of Redemption and watch him delete 3+ or worse troops, which the knights struggle with.

Command squad would benefit from Ravenwing company standard. Hit and Run is important.
