What's the difference between a spellsword, a battle mage and a red mage?

Isn't a red mage a sort of jack of all trades?
They have regular attacks, damaging magic, and healing/support magic, but don't specialise in anything.
That would make them very similar to your definition of a spell sword, whilst your definition of a red mage is actually a pyromancer.Or maybe I'm just dumb and am not aware of red mages outside of Final Fantasy

I remember one of the first threads with these where we a bunch of our own versions. I made a hexagon with like 8 on each axis, some guy made a coordinate based system that gave some leeway in which class you end up with.
But there was nothing with 1000 classes, because at that point you're just listing random occupations. OP pic is already stretching it with for Marauder and Raider, Shaman and Elementalist, Mentalist and Psion, etc.
And without further information, you just have some names that some people associate with some classes from games they know. Like, the fuck is a Horizon Walker? There's the Death Knight, does that mean we're in WoW and the Paladins work like there? The classes don't mean shit without a setting or system to know what they can or can't do.

The thing is that the post number is not random. Not only is it easy to predict in which range it will fall, there also exist means to perfectly reach a specific number. Not that it's important in such a thread, since cheating wouldn't hurt anyone at all, but there is a real difference in authenticity and functionality between the roll simulator and the post number.

Took be a bit longer than that but oh well.
I didn't get round to fleshing this one out with sub-triangles, but the idea is to cater to player desires more acutely and completely than the standard trichotomy. For one thing, everyone wants a character capable of super-natural feats of ability, which can be classified as magical even if it doesn't involve a spell. The main distinction of the Warrior group is defense, so I skipped straight to calling its corner "Defense", and similarly the Rogue corner is Thieving/Sneaking/Underhanded tactics. I decided to put magic as a middle ground instead for the triangle, and to also make magic explicitly education/technology-y. Instead I put healer/cleric/support act as a legitimate role for the final corner.
The coloured spots on the left are a magic add-on, designed to cater to broader schools of phenomena over nitty-gritty like fire vs lightning or what-have-you.

Druid Assassin sounds fun

It's about professional courtesy.
A Bandit is just criminal scum who threatens weaker targets to get their stuff. Bandits make a big show of force, and back that up with rampant thuggery. A Bandit will rob you barefaced and bare knuckled if they can.
If a cutpurse takes your things, it was as unobtrusive robbery. They get near their target, they take what they want, and then they get away. It is the fedEx delivery guy of the criminal world.
When a highwayman gets involved, it's practically an art form. First they blockade the road or ride your carriage down. They present the standard demand as a formality: "your money or your life", cutting a dashing figure standing atop a carefully selected bit of scenery with their brace of pistols and colorful mask. They might let the women keep their rings or offer them a flower in exchange. Once they *have* your stuff, they make a dramatic exit, and the victims are left slightly poorer but thrilled to have been robbed.

Only got an old WIP version, slapped some numbers on to make it usable. The closer to the center means less combat oriented.
I have no idea what half of those classes do, and I had to use some setting specific stuff to fill the 96. Short explanation:
>Flameheart
Paladin-like "holy" warrior, just less "do good" and more "destroy evil". Also fire, lots of fire.
>Beastblood
Sort of Assassin/Fighter that uses a ritual to gain strength from totem animals. Vaguely Aztec inspired.
>Neverblade
Uses Illusion magic to improve fighting. Shrouded in shadows, silent steps, invisible weapon, etc.
>Shadowdancer
Like Neverblade, but more mind fuckery instead of weapons. They're also support troops for regular armies
>Rune Knight
Fighter that inscribes runes on their body to gain strength, fights with magical traps. Like DDO's Alchemist, but with weapons.
>Contact Mage
A monk-like dexterous fighter that shoves fireballs into people's faces while kicking them in the balls.

Well, first things first, it's mathematically impossible because 1000 isn't exact square. At best you will end up either with 961 or 1024 small triangles (edges' lengths of 31 and 32 respectively).
Beside that, why?
>>48414011
Spellsword is a warrior who help himself with magic, while battle mage is a wizard who help himself with weapons. As for the various warrior classes:
-Warrior is just a generic guy with a weapon
-Soldier is someone with actual military training, so he knows more about tactics, but could have some obligations and perhaps isn't as experienced in freelance adventuring
-Weapon Master is probably just a more experienced warrior with more experience with different kinds of weapons, perhaps you could also throw some magic into it.
-Knight is heavy armoured and perhaps noble born
-Shield Bearer is a guy with big shield who specializes in defence.
I agree that these could be just left to player's personal interpretation of "warrior" class, but if you really want to cover every notable difference with individual class than it kinda works
Rolled 39 (1d100)
>>48419057
I just vaguely remember a bigger triangle, maybe was I wrong. I told a friend about it, that I believed it had 1k classes, he wanted to look at it for inspiration so I tried to find it back for him. It could have had 100 from the beginning.

>>48414011
I feel like a lot of the differences aren't that important and you just sorta decide that yourself. You could probably also use the position on the triangle to narrow it down a bit. Red Mages and Spellswords are slightly more rogue-y than battlemages. Spellswords are slightly more fighter-y than Red Mages.

I would argue that cutpurse is a unique class, although Theif steals it's thunder. I imagine a cutpurse to be a pickpocket with a knack for snagging coin and knowledge of the streets. IMO Rogue should replace Theif, since Theif is assumed to be the generic dexterous, stealthy skill-monkey and theft shouldn't be automatic. An Artful Dodger archtype would definitely be down for theft, though.

Also, Psion and Mentalist could be construed as very different.
I remember Psionics in DnD3.5 being more like a mage with a limited subset of spells, with stuff like telekenisis but moreso into the territory of forcefields and constructs. My vision of a Mentalist is a bit like Jace the Mindfucker, pure brain magic. Psion is more "magic that comes out of my brain, it's science i aint gotta explain shit"
http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/psionicPowersOverview.htm#psiLikeAbilities
Clairsentience, Constructs, Telekinesis and Telepathy, maybe teleportation if you're OP enough.
Mentalist is Telepath only, but really damn good at it. A psion could sense that someone's lying, for example, whereas a battle with a mentalist involves you killing him, going home for a nice celebratory nap, waking up to some delicious breakfast where you tell your best friend your masterplan and all the details, and then you wake up again to find that the mentalist took your wallet and left you napping for 5 hours and you have no best friend named Sleepy Gary.

Something like
for ( x < 10 ; x++) {
for ( y < 10 ; y++) {
elves [x][y] = getRandomWord.' Elves'; } }
Then futher down in your page you use another double for loop to print the entries. You now got a 10x10 field of terrible fantasy races.
If I had the right data base it would probably take 25 minutes to do this, but I'd probably have to extract the words from a online dictionary and I'm too lazy for that.
>>48418492
Also more class ideas; Time Mage (Temporal abilities), something ghost related (ecto based abilities), Shapershifter/Doppleganger, Polymorphist (maybe too specific?)
Druid type mage. druid to me applies to animals/formchanging/plants whereas the chart could use a classic nature mage (just plants, man. enter the green 420earthelementals), alongside some sort of formchanging werebear class. (but is that doppleganger? polymorphist? polymorpher?)
There should be an edgelord class, either Dark Pallidin or half-demon or both.
