It is 44 years since the Battle of Mirbat, during the Dhofar Rebellion in Oman, where 9 SAS troopers repelled an attack by 300 communist South Yemeni guerillas.

At 0600 the guerillas attacked the British Army Training Team (BATT) house, which housed the nine SAS soldiers, based just outside the Port of Mirbat. The guerillas (locally known as the Adoo) attacked knowing that to be able to reach the Port of Mirbat they would first have to defeat the SAS guarding the approach to the town in Jebel Ali.

The OC, Captain Mike Kealy, observed the waves advancing on the fort, but at first did not order his men to open fire because he thought it was the "Night Picket" coming back from night shift. The Night Picket were a loyal group of the Omani Army positioned on the slopes to warn the BATT house of Adoo troop movements. Realising that the Night Picket must have been killed, Kealy ordered his men to open fire. Kealy along with other members of the team took up positions behind the sand-bag parapet on the roof of the BATT house, firing at the Adoo with L1A1 SLR rifles, with one man firing the Browning M2HB heavy machine gun, with a further two men on ground level operating and firing an infantry mortar surrounded by sand-bags. The Adoo were armed with AK-47 assault rifles, and were mortar bombing the area around the BATT house. Kealy ordered the signaller to establish communications with SAS Headquarters at Um al Quarif, to request reinforcements.

There were a small number of Omani Intelligence Service personnel in the BATT House, a small contingent of Pakistani soldiers and a member of British Military Intelligence seconded to the OIS. They joined the team on the roof and fired on the Adoo with SLRs and other small arms. Initially some of the Pakistani soldiers were reluctant to join the defence of the fort because their roles with the BATT were largely administrative, but they obeyed orders from Mike Kealy and the British Military Intelligence Corporal.

Knowing that the SLRs would not be of full use until the Adoo were closer than the weapon's range of 800 metres, and lacking heavier firepower, Sergeant Talaiasi Labalaba made a run for the 25pdr artillery piece, which was positioned next to a smaller fort manned by Omani Army soldiers, who had not played a part in the battle. The Omani policeman who was guarding the weapon had been seriously wounded. Labalaba managed to operate the weapon, which is a six-man job, by himself and fire a round a minute at the approaching Adoo, directing their attention away from the BATT house. At the BATT house Kealy asked for a volunteer to run to Talaiasi's aid. Trooper Sekonaia Takavesi volunteered to go.

Takavesi ran from the BATT house, with the remaining men providing covering fire, in an attempt to distract the Adoo. Sekonaia ran the 800 metres through heavy gunfire, and reached the gun emplacement. Sekonaia tried to give aid to his injured friend, while firing at the approaching Adoo with his personal weapon. Realising that they needed help, Sekonaia tried to raise the small number of Omani soldiers inside the smaller fort. The only Omani Gendarmerie Officer in the Mirbat Fort was Lieutenant Hassan Naseeb. The remaining Omani soldiers in the fort engaged the enemy with small arms fire from firing positions on the roof and through the windows of the fort. As the two men made it back to the emplacement, the Omani soldier fell wounded after being shot in the stomach with a 7.62 mm bullet. Adoo continued to advance upon both the BATT house and the artillery emplacement. At one point, the Adoo were so close that Sekonaia and Talaiasi fired the weapon at point blank range, aiming down the barrel. Talaiasi crawled across a small space to reach a 60 mm infantry mortar, but fell dead after being shot in the neck. Sekonaia, also shot through the shoulder and grazed by a bullet to the back of his head, continued to fire at the approaching Adoo with his personal weapon.

Captain Kealy and Trooper Tobin made a run to the artillery piece. Upon reaching it, they dived in to avoid increasingly intense gunfire from the Adoo. Sekonaia continued to fire on the attackers, propped up against sand bags after being shot through the stomach (the bullet narrowly missing his spine). The Adoo threw several hand grenades, but only one detonated, exploding behind the emplacement with no one injured. During the battle, Trooper Tobin attempted to reach over the body of Talaiasi. In so doing, Tobin was mortally wounded when a bullet struck his face. By this time, BAC Strikemaster light-attack jets of the Sultan of Oman's Air Force had arrived and began strafing the Adoo in the Jebel Ali. With a low cloud base making for low altitude attack runs, only machine-guns and light rockets were used. Reinforcements arrived from G Squadron and, defeated, the Adoo withdrew at about 1230hrs. All wounded SAS soldiers were evacuated, and given medical treatment. Trooper Tobin eventually died in hospital.

The 25-pounder gun (now known as the "Mirbat gun") used by Fijian Sergeant Talaiasi Labalaba during the siege is now housed in the Firepower museum of the Royal Artillery at the former Royal Arsenal, Woolwich. Though killed in action, Sgt Labalaba displayed remarkable bravery by singlehandedly operating the 25-pounder gun, a weapon normally requiring four to six soldiers to operate. Labalaba's heroism was a key factor in halting the Adoo's vicious assault on the emplacement, allowing time for reinforcements to arrive. Labalaba was awarded a posthumous Mention in Dispatches for his actions in the Battle of Mirbat, though some of his comrades have since campaigned for him to be awarded the more prestigious Victoria Cross.

This clash is a legend in SAS history, and a superb setup for a modern scenario.

New supplement out for Skirmish Sangin. Seems to be set in Africa but populated entirely with Imagi-Nations, which is a bit odd.

Still I guess there's nothing stopping you just using real African countries if Imagi-Nations aren't your thing.

I actually like the idea of using the more stylized imagi-nations, with a bunch of players you could get some campaign action going and you're not bound to "real life" actions. I liked Skrimish Sangin's RPG elements so it would be cool to see what they do here. Nice to have something in Modern African wargaming that isn't AK47 Republic, anyway.

> I actually like the idea of using the more stylized imagi-nations

I quite like Imagi-Nations myself, but from what of seen of the Skirmish Afrika ones, they seem to have been a bit lazy and just lumped a few neighbouring countries together and called it a day.

Depends on how good you are at painting and how complex the insignia is. A simple templar cross is easier than some complex roman legion insignia for example.

If you want to play it save, there are decals out there for almost everything. There is also the possibility to print your own decals.

15mm (usually) company-scale action in 50s-80s Africa. Lots of emphasis on making it personalized and relatively 'lighthearted', with a cool faction system. I recommend you check out some blogs on it to get the flavour.

Can bases move around individually ordo they HAVE TO stick to their unit?

have it so that groups can be 'left behind' but if they do move it must be towards the majority of the unit.

It's important to point out that the game is more than just figures and battles. The political aspect and campaign elements are of equal importance. This is where my heart lies with AK47. The battle game itself is fine in my opinion, in that it allows a great deal of flexability for a range of periods with ease of play. It is however not my preffered cup tea.

But yes it is fun.

A tip: give that armour a black wash then a quick drybrush with a brighter metal colour. It's a really easy way to get it to pop.

washes are missing entirely at this point.

Would you recommend using black or brown wash for the blue cloth or an actual blue wash?

AK47 is one of those games that everybody praises, but whenever I try to go through the rules its too much of a pain

Is there some sort of simplified re-write version of them?eeeddeeeee
>>
>>48359394
Not really, it's a relatively niche area/period.

If you're not a fan I think the best bet is too take ideas from it and adapt whatever your game of choice is. AK47 is more about the subjecy matter of modern african imagi-nations rather than the game itself I think.
>>
>>48359509
So it's kind of like Very British Civil War, except it's Very African.
>>
>>48359578
Yes, except it't not really as fixed shall we say in terms of events. There's no Severn Valley campaign equivalent; there's no fluff outisde of modern history (it can also be used to run historical style games rather than imagi-nations, but thats often where people find the most fun).

It's more of an idea than anything but it just happens to have a pretty good rules that's popular that covers all the bases.
>>
Is second edition of AK47 Republic worth upgrading to? Anyone can compare them?
>>
>>48359781
First edition is far less refined. this may or may not be what you want.
Second edition for instance might remove troops from you in events but they're only delayed, 1st can both remove them from the upcoming battle and give additional troops (so spare models required).

Quick question for the naval warfare types. The USS Thach (retired Oliver Hazard Perry-class guided missile frigate) just ate a quartet of Harpoons, some Mavericks, some Hellfires, some 500lb Mk84s, a 2,000lb GBU-12, and a fucking Mk48 torpedo before sinking during a "target practice exercise".

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3698132/Navy-blow-retired-military-ship-coast-Hawaii-missile-testing-exercise-just-won-t-sink.html

If I were to play Harpoon 4, could an OHP take that sort of punishment in the game? Or would I reasonably be calling bullshit if it took that kind of hits and still took 12 hours to sink? I was honestly under the impression that hitting anything smaller than an aircraft carrier with a modern anti-ship missile was going to sink it, and I've heard Harpoon is the most granular naval sim game. Can an OHP take those hits in the wargame and not be just instantly scrap metal?

OHP stats.png

>>48362319
OHPs are statted out in Harpoon, just try it out. All the resources for Harpoon 3 are in the OP folders, there's even a scenario with an OHP iirc.

That does sound like a LOT of ordinance to take though, I'd be inclined to think it would be fucked after the first harpoon hit home, let alone 2000 lb bombs and a Mk48 torp.

From my quick skim just then (haven't played Harpoon in a long time!) a harpoon missile does 45 damage, and pic related shows that an OHP sinks after 73 points of damage...
>>
>>48362319
It's worth noting the Thact was stripped all weapons, ammo and fuel before being used as target practice which are key ingredients in causing catastrophic damage to vessel, and that just because it took 12 hours to sink doesn't mean it could've been anything close to operational after some of those hits.

A couple of things WW2 naval gamers might like:

In Harm's Way: Pigboats is a roleplaying game about being an American submariner during World War II. Pigboats is designed to emulate the feel of the historical fiction adventures of Run Silent Run Deep, Hellcats of the Navy, Torpedo Run, and many others rather than the actual history. As such, it's heavy on the adventure and romance, and light on the details.

In Harm's Way: Pigboats uses the StarCluster 3 System
-Play officers on a single submarine, or each play wolfpack captains, as well as the men of the other subs in troupe play
-Honor/Practicality Mechanic: Adds to your successes due to your reputation
-Notice: You have to accumulate Notice - the approval of your superiors - to advance in rank. In order to get Notice, you have to burn with zeal and throw yourself headlong in harm's way
-Customize your submarines when you earn the dockyard workers' respect.
-Competitive Play: There can be only one Leader. One hero. Is it going to be you, or the guy sitting next to you?

MTB

Situation: The time 1942/43, the place is the English Channel. The scene set is that of the almost continual battle for supremacy between the small boat navies of Germany and Great Britain. The prize for both sides is two-fold: first, the elimination of the other's coastal convoys, and second, the control of this narrow and dangerous stretch of water.

One of several titles released by Tabletop Games which were intended to be played directly on the game table (without a map) using rules concepts from traditional miniatures wargaming. The games offered an affordable alternative to the miniatures hobby in that they used un-cut cardstock counters.

you need at least 2 infantry squads and a HQ. so yes, you can build a legal small army. with veteran option you should be able to build a 500 point list with what you've got.
>>
>>48371999
Sure.

Grab the Army book from the OP and get going.

The smallest playable army would be:

1x HQ unit (1-3 guys)

2x Infantry squad (around 10 guys, not sure whats the exact/optimal number for french)

and thats it.

Then you can add your support units and weapon teams (like sniper/spotter, mortar and your arty gun)

With the stuff you got you probably can get 750 points easily. You lack infantry (as others already mentioned) and a tank wouldn't hurt either.

Looks like a fun little game.

For variation you might consider adding areas of soft rock which can be slowly dug through. Not an expert on Flanders geology but I'm reasonably confident that there are areas underlain by chalk which is soft enough to dug though with hand tools. It wouldn't require shoring like the dirt sections.

Another detail you could include though it probably doesn't really add anything is if areas are double wide or otherwise more excavated than standard add a penalty to the collapse test. The risk would depend on the ground conditions in real life but set soil is pretty weak.

Pic is extraordinarily good ground from the St Joe lead mine in Missouri in 1917. In most areas you couldn't get away with an open span that large with no ground support.

I put a drop of glue on a scrap of paper and use a paperclip/toothpick/small tool to actually apply the glue to the model or if it's a small part, I use tweezers to carefully put the end of the part in the glue then stick it to the model. Give that a try with your current glue before ordering anything, if find the technique gives a good amount of control for where the glue goes

I've already got plans for underground terrain types. Streams, lakes, bands of soft or hard rock, subterranean gas pockets for natural hazards, and then things like mass graves and pockets of unexploded ordinance for more unconventional surprises.

Former harsh dictatorship that got soft, supported by the UN as the rebels would likely bring greater instability to a recovering nation.

Mostly to take over resource production/steal as much as they can. Mostly mercenaries from neighbouring countries looking to cash in on the instability being lead by a local warlord, maybe a western PMC involved too.

>>
>>48382754
research is half the fun of designing wargames!

what period are you writing for? in medieval times swords were heavily used, by napoleonic era they were officers and cavaly (and maybe artillery) only, in colonial times they were used much less, and by WW1 they were glorified sidearms.

>playing a Dogfight! tonight
EXCITED
>>
>>48382805
Medieval mostly, but I'm hoping by the time I'm done with it I can make it more flexible. All the research I've done has told me what they were used for in a man-to-man scale (stabbing mostly, cutting with sabers) but not on a macro scale.
Interesting stuff, don't get me wrong, but I'm close to just making swords a generic no bonuses/no penalty option.
>>
>>48382980
'Medieval' is still about a thousand years, and Europe is thousands of miles wide.

So for example, for a sword was used (or at least what we know more about, how the culture viewed the sword), in England during the Viking era was be very different to how the sword was used/perceived in 1510s Frankfurt.

To generalize though, it's an expensive status symbol of a secondary, versatile weapon. For the professional soldier their first weapon was might have been a spear, a bow, a lance or a pole-arm, depending on when/where. But you can defend yourself with a sword against multiple opponents, grapple with a sword, fight with a sword against someone in armour etc.

Do you have academic access? If not a good place to start might be http://actaperiodica.org/apd2015.htm

Lots of 'putting people who were down out of the fight, with extreme prejudice'.

There's a HEMA thread on /asp that might be of help, at least the OP knows his shit if he's back from the EU.

Personally I'd make one handed swords a medium range cutting/thrusting weapon, with at most a slight bonus to one or the other depending on the type.

I would probably simplify something like:

Broadsword: Standard sword, can be used with a shield or on a horse
Zweihänder / Claymore: Uber-damage sword that requires 2 hands

You could have a 3rd option for scimitars / sabers, but they're pretty similair to a regular sword, just they do more slashing damage. They could potentially be a middle ground between the basic sword and the 2hander, getting some minor bonus damage from slashing and the impetus of someone attacking from moving horseback.

Other than karst terrain, you really don't get underground rivers/lakes.

I've never worked in Nevada but I've heard that a lot of the mines there have suprisingly large amount of groundwater. Supposedly if a pump failed, in the course of an hour or two, the area would have several feet of water. One of the bigger mines, it might have been McCoy-Cove had 10,000 total horsepower of installed pumps and dewatering was around 40% of their total power draw.

I guess I have seen effectively an underground spring where a tunnel intersected a fracture that produced ~5 gallons per minute which flowed down the tunnel. Still not really a river though

The Osprey shows a fair range of colors from khaki to blue-green so like most armies I think it's a matter of different manufacturing lots plus wear and tear results in there being a large range of colors rather than what regulation specified. Just use what looks good to your eye. Vallejo "Russian Uniform" might work as a match for the greenish color uniform in your pic.

Maybe you guys remember my knight from a few days ago.

I tried it on a spare shield first and then painted that sheep onto the shield. It was easier than expected (i kinda cheated and used a fine pen for the outline).

The mini is supposed to be a gift for a friend, so i picked a non-historical motive for the shield.

Sorry about the pic quality, i can't get better light at this time of the day

Are there any ancient wargames where the sling isn't shit? Why is it always depicted as short range and/or with low damage?
>>
>>48395395
In my really old ancient warfare rules Rhodian slingers actually have more range than your average archer, and both do the same amount of damage. archer is 24" range, usual slinger is 16" range, but rhodians for some reason are 30" range.

Its a long time since I researched this (8 years or more?), not too sure how accurate that is.
>>
>>48397764
The extreme range of slings WAS, historically, greater than the self bows and small composite bows of the time, and could inflict concussive damage through armor. I'm just trying to find a wargame that reflects that slings aren't shit and are equivalent to the bows of the time.
>>
>>48398492
Not that guy, but isn't their damage purely physical rather than piercing like arrows? Like it can still be damaging sure, but it's like hitting someone with a club rather than a dagger isn't it?

Look at a Greek linothorax. Provides pretty good protection against penetration. How does it deal against massive concussive trauma?

Kind of like how you deal with a knight in armour. Grapple them to the ground or twat them really hard until they go down, and then shank them in the gaps.
>>
>>48399674
Ah so it just has a different use. It's better than the arrow against heavily armoured targets, but potentially less lethal against lightly armoured targets?

It's a different way to inflict ouchies from afar. IMHOtep the use of weapons isn't so much because a commander went 'Ah, these swords will beat their spears' like in Total War games, but more because of culture and availability.

Bow require skilled workers to make them. Arrows require skilled workers to make them. For your average shepherd, a sling can be made in the field and stones are plentiful. Of the two I'd say that slings require more skill to use - bows are pretty intuitive.

So tactically your leader chappie wants skirmishers to break up the enemy. Javelin-men are the best, but it's short ranged, hard work and requires massive balls. Bows and slings are 'safer', and you can counter-skirmish with them. Which do you go for? Whichever is available. IIRC the Romans were happy to use both, as were most people in the migration period.

In the long term though, shields and metal helmets over padded textile cushions make slings obsolete, whether they're shooting stones or metal pellets. (They also make old fashioned short bows pretty obsolete.) And as warfare becomes professionalized, where are you going to get several hundred goat-herders skilled with slings from anyway?

Thought about it some more, 5gpm would be like a garden hose, it was probably more like 30 gpm

Anyways, another thought, how about a rescue scenario where a group is cut off and has barricaded themselves and must hold out until friendly units can tunnel to them and reinforce the position. Doesn't make a lot of sense when you consider the time scale of things but could be a fun game.

In your reading, did you come across how they brought fresh air into the workings?

That sounds like an interesting idea! I've had to put the whole notion of considering time scale out of my mind for the time being since nothing makes any sense if I think about it too hard.

Could even add a time sensitive element by trapping the survivors in a sealed off tunnel with an armed mine.

From what I've seen, the British used manually-operated pumps up at the base of the shaft-head. I guess it sorta worked, can't have been pleasant either way.

>wat do

Choose a specific period
Check out some rule sets, see what floats your boat
Go to local gaming clubs and see what people play
buy some minis to play some games
buy 2 opposing armies if no one is playing the period you want to play, then convince other to play, your friends make good wargame buddies, even if they're not into it now... with a bit of backstory and a demo of the game, most can be convinced to at least give it a go. Just make sure you know the rules pretty well by then, and have at least played a test battle against yourself.

I've spent the past while attempting to write a homebrew game based around having a large amount of individual units. The game was supposed to be simplistic in order to speed things along, but I have a bad habit of writing like I'm running out of time, so it kinda turned into an 11 page (and counting) project. I'm pretty sure the grammar is below acceptable standards and all distances are replaced with Xs because I don't know what good distances are for a 10mm game, and it's not even really complete.

That being said, I think it's about time I actually shared it. Just remember, all the highlighted parts are stuff I'm not sure about and the game is a major work in progress. I'm open to any suggestions and I'll answer any questions to the best of my abilities.

I have some relevant articles from various WI issues circa '98 or so. I think some of the stuff might have been included in the 2nd Ed. There's Chris Peers' Dagomba campaign, some notes on updating the tech to the 90s, a small entry on air support in games, and a scenario.

http://www.mediafire.com/download/0cckjo34khbcmot/AK-47+Republic+-+WI+Articles.pdf

And if anyone's interested, I found the article in PDF related while sorting through some old mags; it's an ultralite ruleset for running a LRDG game. There's some great stuff in these musty old rags, I really have to go through and scan some more stuff soon.

For each turn of the game:
1. Determine Initivative (D6, highest roll wins and the winner can decide to activate one of his units or give the other player the first go)

Then they alternate in activating units until everything has moved, shot and meleed.

Unit profiles:
>Move
>Discipline
>Courage
>Resilience
>Defense
>Type (like Melee Infantry or Missle Cavalry)
>Faith
>Equip
>Traits
>Reactions

Hope that was helpful to you. I might try the game later today or maybe tomorrow. I don't like playing alone so i have to convince my friend to come over.

You don't need to roll to activate them, only to check who goes first. Units have 4 action points, and some commands cost more AP than others (like mount/dismount cost only 2, while charge for example costs 4).

The game is supposed to be played with single based minis (on square bases) in loose formation. They write that it can be played with mulit-based-units too, as long as both armies are based the same way.

On top of what others have said, the coverage seems uneven, the paint is too thick, you haven't stayed "inside the lines"so to speak, and the grey metal looks poor. the colours, for the non metalics, namely the red and orange, also don't look right, are they supposed to be painted armour or coloured fabric?

On the other hand, it is great to have someone starting out, and even posting to actively improve their models so PLEASE don't be discouraged, we only say what we say to be honest and help you, not to be mean.

Whilst possibly sound advice, I regularly drink coffee including when I paint, if coffee gives you the shakes, or you aren't an addict like me I would avoid it but if your body has come to depend upon the glory of caffeine I would go right ahead and keep drinking it.

One thing that wasn't mentioned before: try putting your mini on top of a old pot of paint, a cork or something else to make it easier to hold it while painting.

Check this link to see what i'm talking about:
http://ripplesinspace.blogspot.de/2010/05/tutorial-blue-tack-uses-in-miniature.html

If you don't have some clay stuff you can use a drop of white glue to glue the little base of your mini down temporarily.

You need a different brush. Thats #1.

Then:
>diluted with water
>testores paint

See that little flame icon on your paint pot? That means its flammable and therefore not a water based acrylic paint.
Nothing against that paint itself Anon, but its not to be thinned with water. You need a special thinner for that.

I recommend picking up a basic paint set from vallejo or army painter like the one in the link. It comes with a decent brush (way better than yours) and a wash too. vallejo has sets equal to this one, i'm sure. So pick whatever is available for you.

They had a modern issue recently, complete with some ethical discussions, because, well, a lot of people in and out of the military love wargaming moderns, but a lot of people in and out of the military feel weird about playing games about people they know.

Speaking of modern games, anyone had a look at Winter of '79? Looks neat, but I'm broke. It's basically VBCW: more serious edition. Thatcher gets elected, coup kicks off, suddenly everyone's fighting and there's panic on the streets of etc.

>>48419963
>And I can't download issue 13 again as apparently it expired
Email 'em - a lot of wargamers hit the "limited downloads" option when they set up stores (looking at you, Lardies) but they're usually more than happy to re-enable them.
>>
>>48420499
and hey look, it's an incomplete character background generator for Winter of '79!

https://www.dropbox.com/s/270slj4ltyrlmx3/OliversArmyPart1OurKid.pdf?dl=0

The "Character" scale goes Complete Tosser (useless fuck) > Hard Nut > Tosser > Lad > Bloke > Bastard > Hard Bastard (capable of leading a bunch of useless fucks and maybe making them useful).

Anyone doing anything with colonials these days? Been thinking of trying the period, nothing too specific though.

It's either that or get into dark ages. No, not saga, that's far too modern, I mean ~~~arthurian~~~ dirty brits and their mates telling the saxons to fuck off, shortly after the romans gave up on britain.

should that be natal1? They don't look very boaty.
>>
>>48421054
Oh, the red-coated brits with sun helmets variety. Been looking into some rulesets but nothing stands out. I don't really want to just set up rorke's drift and run zulus into teabags, is the thing, and a lot of people seem to go for that.
>>
>>48421054
It was either a typo or a shitty joke, can't remember.

>>48421083
Then Death in the Dark Continent is for you, my good man. Zulus and other natives (which there's a metric fuckton of) can stand a chance, and European players won't win with "I stand and shoot" tactics.

Note that Admiralty Trilogy have updated the Harpoon 4 damage hitpoints calculation mechanic specifically to account for the fact the H3 and original H4 method resulted in smaller ships being too low.

There is a file at the Admiralty Trilogy website that covers all vessels from WW1 to today.

The (short) Perry now has 143 DP and the (long) Perry has 172 DP.

As others have noted though, in this SINKEX it seems the Perry was not in a similar state to one in combat and so no chance of secondaries, etc.

Dude, there is a folder called ,,Avalon Hill". Board Game Geek website has their printing years, some even reviews and elaborate topics with grogonards reminding themself time of their youth.

If you make any kind of research, you'll be best checking yourself for what you exactly want.

If you want an old game, look them on BGG and take what suits your intrest best.

I bought a pdf. It's pending. They have automated shop (damn, script even limits downloads), yet need to accept my order personaly, so ,,pending" stays till monday.

I thought that missing all that glorious history by living in 21st century I at last get state-of-the-art tech.

Well, not today.
>>

Where did you buy it?

Maybe its because of your payment option?
>>
>>48421619
from a quick look at the AH folder the oldest games in there are 1914, Ceasers Legions, Outdoor survival, Source of the Nile, and Arab Israeli War

all are mid 70s or so.

will find some earlier stuff in the S&T folder but not by much.

there were only a small handfull of hex and counter games done pre 1970. I could count them on both hand. 1970 was the start of the rise of hex and counter games.
>>
>>48422765
Nah, it's the pdf of journal I got for the survey, paid in whole with discount.

On the other hand I did choose bank transfer as payment option to avoid giving out my card details for order of 0.00. Blast it. I only hope they will not wait for empty cheque.

should have selected "no payment information required". They had this option there.

Haven't played the system in a while, have written and playtested 3 systems since then; Dogfight (WW1 air combat), Ikonki (Russo-Japanese Land Wars) and "the War in Vietnam" strategic map game.

The NZWars game was a total bitch to balance, and could probably still do with some fine-tuning. Made for some fun and brutal games though!

The next SAGAesque game will be migration period.
>With the new Saga book, we will go back in time, and look at the very beginning of the Dark Ages.

>Imagine 6 new factions, depicting the Britons, The Saxon Invaders, the Romans, the Huns, the Goths and the Picts. To lead them into battle, larger than life characters as Aetius, Attila, Arthur or Vortigern. A time when the Roman frontiers were hammered by the flow of barbaric invaders. A time when the civilisation of the past was abour to be superceded by a new one.
