The question was almost enough to distract me from the dark thrill that still coursed through my veins, even as the dust settled around me, Mister Stabby extended outward as I breathed in my conquest.

"It's called 'Prom', Xia, and no, I'm not. I've got better things to do."

I wasn't really sure why I put up with her... well, other than the fact that I wasn't totally confident I could actually take her. And I suppose better her being curious about me than out wreaking havoc. Xia said she saw 'potential' in me... whatever that meant. Plus she'd saved by bacon once or twice... not that I'd ever admit that to her. Still, she never bothered to make an effort unless I was a hair's breadth from death's door.

Scotty (heh, he hated being called that) thought she was a bad influence, and should be banished back to where she came from. She, in turn, delighted in taunting him, knowing that he had no real idea how to make that happen.

I absently toyed with the circlet on my wrist; Scotty's greatest present to me, it made peoples eyes and hears sort of... slide over me as long as I tried to be quiet. Completely invaluable; I teased him that it was the main reason I kept him around. Heh. Not that that was the truth...

Anyway! No dwelling on mushy feelings right now, I had a job to do.

"Still no idea where these goblin-things are coming from, Xia?"

"No... as said, not something I'm familiar with."

The problem with Xia's advice, of course, is that I could never be sure she wasn't holding something back to test me. And Reiv rarely gave me more than cryptic warnings. Hmph! What's a girl got to do to get some straightforward answers!?

Checking that my gun was free in its holster, and with knife in hand, I motioned for silence, and proceeded to cross the street to the warehouse...

I think on an individual level it's overpowered but that's fine. The real problem is that it reproduces too fast. Seriously with that power and it only taking 4 hours to create a new one they can take over the city in a few years without the other clans stepping in to curb their population. Also they don't really have to eat too much compared to something like trolls that have to eat an almost impossible amount. I think a good way to balance them would be to make their reproduction very difficult.

All I want to do is find a place to hang out and snooze, and a University sounds like the perfect place. I just kindly ask someone if I can come into their dorm or apartment and just stay for as long as I’d like. While I’m there, I might as well cause mass chaos with Envy 2 and extend my lifespan. Of course, being in a University, It would be stupid of me to not steal the knowledge my targets have. Sure, this would probably cause them to flunk, but that’s okay with me.

Of course, given Sloth 3 allows me to view anything anywhere, I might be able to cause someone to kill a group for the sake of God, not knowing that the other side is what he just worked for. Any time stop I exist in will be used to travel from place to place or just to have fun. And that’s what I plan to do, have fun. Even at the cost of another’s well being.

Not into unbalanced PvP and that's exactly what it is. The problem with Slayers is that they're not necessarily wizard hunters which allows them to live openly as very popular monster hunters (just pick Leadership) until they have amassed incredible power. They can then get even more power by killing "evil" wizards. There's nothing stopping a Slayer from becoming an international hero, garnering support from the masses and indiscriminately killing mages they deem evil because they have the support of their rabid fanbase.

Buffy is awesome though. The whole lone, empowered human vs the forces of evil is pretty fucking cool. Maybe you could consider doing both? You could have a more expansive order of hunters who combat the Other using old templar techniques or modern weaponry or something; and you could have the Slayer option where you're considerably more powerful than a hunter but have only a limited support network, are distrusted by regular hunters, and are somehow connected to the Other in some way. More power would mean more responsibility of course.

can slayers become dangerous? yes, if they work really hard. but if you spend decades doing nothing while they build up power and an international following then you deserve to get killed. form alliances with other wizards, get humans working for you (charisma is good but you can promise them riches, magical items and whatever else), trade favours with big organizations, make friends with other slayers if need be. work on increasing your magic power, summon monsters to defend you, create enchanted weapons and traps. build a secret fortress somewhere (depending on your speciality, there are places you can live that a slayer can hardly even reach). prepare escape plans if you're caught unaware. if you catch wind that a slayer is killing random wizards, don't just twiddle your thumbs waiting to die, make a proactive effort to find and destroy them.

history dictates that in situations like this, the great powers (in this case, wizards and slayers) will look out for situations where the balance of power risks being disturbed (a slayer or wizard growing too powerful) and team up to restore balance, because if a bunch of powerful people don't want the situation you're talking about, they won't let it happen.

basically it's only a problem if you want amazing magical powers with no risk or conflict. and fair enough, but there are lots of CYOAs like that already.

It does look like you are lowering your balance with species more than you should (the CYOA specifies that you can't lower it by more than 12, in total, via species alone. While that may seem arbitrary, it's to prevent builds that just add every possible hostile species and then spend the huge amount of points gained on giving humans (or their chosen species) every magic and upgrade possible to ROFLSTOMP everything.

Maybe you have some guardian species in the next section.

In any case, it's not something I'm going to take a pitchfork to you about; just pointing out the restriction that is in there.

Actually I'm probably going to re-word it as all dragons have Major in up to three random spells that they can't imbue anyone with. Three random except enchanting Major.

Also I was planning, sorta, of stretching the definition of the magics. I.e by creating a new eye with shapeshifting major that had the combined enchantments of divination + master of motion to create an Eye Of Perfect Past Sight. Gonna teleport my sight back through time, you know? Also it would be made up of one eye cut in half (eye of divination + eye of see-everything with portals) and enchanting separately then re-fused. Then I'd also create divination horns that allowed me to passively sense whether or not someone/something was going to/wished me harm and how it would come + when. Among other things like a Hammer Of Smash-Things-With-Force-Of-Magnitude 15-Earthquake/Continent Splitter to be used at whim. We'll see.

Here is my bullshit fantasy build. I'm unstoppable in this world and can safely go about becoming the Eternal God Emperor of Man. To help supplant my Empire, I"ll have a select number of Master Blessed Ones and Enchanters, which should give me a leg up over any rival empires. Said people will be paid handsomely but will have limited freedom of movement from me.

I'm thinking of doing a Merlin build, but getting Major in everything is 44-66 points and the world would already be heavily butterflied at the beginning from magic existing. Let alone fantasy races.

There's also nothing stopping me from doing a more modern, or even contemporary build. A lot of the quests would be difficult, bur Sorceror Supreme would be doable. But to have a recognizable world, you'd need no one to start with magic and have no fantastical elements.

You can't do that easily With 110 points without sacrificing in the amount of Magic that you have and/or that can be taught. you can have four Major Magics and make them imbuable at Minor for 50 points.

Next version of World of Myth will have an "option" that ensures that the history of the fantasy world will "parallel" that of the real world (again, barring your intervention). Like, it might have a "Roman Empire" of Men and Dwarves, and Ugrish hordes invading, or whatever. Sounds like that might be something you'd like.

One minor nitpick; if I'm reading correctly, you gave humankind five levels of magic via "Extra", specifically Blessed One, Master of Motion, Firedancer, Binding and Enchanting. Since that is five levels, and not five schools, that means you can only give the Minor version to mankind. Which means you'll only buy the minor one at discount for yourself. Meaning, 3 points for the minor version, +5 additional points for the major = 8 points to buy each of the Major magics for yourself.

Nobles have shit like Incombustible that makes them near immune to their fire weakness, in addition to long-plan bonuses like Dominion, Manipulation, Blood Rituals, Grand Design, and Secrets.

Peasants have Autohemokinesis that ensures that they're never disarmed, and mixed with Poisonous might even be more effective than Knights. Add Death Kiss's ability to sicken even Others and Shadow Stalker that makes you near unnoticeable to anyone, and the name hides it's real potential.

Beast mixes the Knight's strength with the Peasant's stealth, with Beast Form giving you fair protection against mind alterers like the Fae and the C'thulids. Tenebrous is also very useful for a surprise attack, forming from any shadow and as dexterous as your limbs are.

There really should be more Vampire builds.

I'll give you the Nobles. That's the Vampire's one real strength, manipulation and control. No one else really fits that role very well.

For all others, Vampires are EXCEPTIONALLY weak both offensively and defensively. They simply don't have the abilities to keep themselves alive against any real threats. At best you can mildly poison Others and maybe escape notice, when other races have super strength, impenetrable hides, teleportation escapes and full illusion magic.

That's before even considering their base weakness. QUICKLY killed by sunlight, need to feed frequently (2 pints of human blood per day), and the very well known weakness to a simple wooden stake.

Unless you are going for a specialized manipulator build vampires are a horrible choice, and I just doubt they are strong enough in that area to make up for their overall weakness. It's a very hostile world.

Hey acheld : How about specifying you can reset your age to whatever you want upon completing a quest that grants agelessness?

My plan: Be a minor noble from a religious Catholic family. using my battle prowess and magic, I"ll help speed along unification. Maybe I could use my magic to convince the Pope I'm a messenger from God sent to unify Italy. Alternatively, I"ll be covert about it at least until unification happens and/or I meet the pope. I"ll probably only use Binding for golem/elemental/familiar making to avoid getting lynched as some demonic occultist.

Once Italy is unified, I"ll use the fortunes I've gained and that of my family to bring technological innovations to Italy. I"ll also dedicate say, 15 hours a week to teach 100 students the magic of Blessed One and Enchanting. In selecting my students, generally preferring those with a medical or engineering/smith/artisan background.

I"ll try to avoid the military, political and economic pitfalls Italy historically had. Failing that, my military prowess should at least help with the poor reputation Italy gained in warfare.

Hopefully by 2016, Italy will maintain its' Great Power status and maybe even be one of the top countries.

The fuck was happening in 20,000 BC? I have no idea, but you all better believe that humanity is going to be my bitch in no time at all. I might not be taking the Emperor of Mankind quest, but that's exactly what I'm going to be.

In my early days, I'll travel the world and perfect my magical powers. Once I have the lay of the land, I'll start teleporting all over the place, forcing the various tribes/families/whatever exists in caveman times to shape up and get that agricultural gravy train moving way back in 19,000 BC. In time, I'll take a few of the most brilliant minds I can find as companions so that they can access my Book of Knowledge, and I'll use them to start seriously educating the people. I'm making another, where you become the Emperor. It's in essence a reboot of Crown Quest set in the Empire universe. Mainly making the class system better, changing missions, and adding more waifus, er marriage options, and making them more distinct and detailed.

But the thing is, the vampires aren't any better at that than many of the other classes like Demons and Fae, who have much less weaknesses and don't have the horrible feeding requirements. And other than Nobles none of them are even good at planning.

And being even a Noble makes you the servant of the head vampire in the city, and he's noted to want to kill you anyway.

I have no doubt humanity will be your bitch, but you're going to have a bitch of a time getting agriculture up and running with the extremely low human population and environment.

I don't doubt you can accomplish your goals for a moment, but the fact that so much of the Earth is covered in ice might make your Empire goal a bit harder than you think, especially in terms of getting enough population to "control" territory.

Demons, Fallen, Trolls, and Yokai are all easily better picks than Vampires unless you are going for a manipulator build. Fae may or may not be. They are mechanically "easier" (feeding, sunlight, blending in) and much stronger offensively but their defense might be even worse than a vampire's.

Dragon is suicide, Zombie is stupid. Werewolf isn't too bad except for the alpha situation. Picking Cthulid is like losing before the game even starts.
