According to the new lore, the Devoted of Sigmar (Flagellants) purify the land by shedding their blood on it.

I guess that makes them useful to have around. Also it shows that Sigmar does not this kind of behaviour done in his name.

Right guys, after reading the formations in the latest realmgate wars, i will be using the one for my army, the ironjaws (5 megabosses in any combination)

I will have gordrakk and 4 megaboss on fott.

Now the problem is that i don't want 4 of the same model. ( already have 2, 1 of them is basic unchanged and the other has the choppa and the hand from the mawkrusha )

now for the other 2 megaboss, does anyone have any ideas of how i could make them different to each other?

I seriously doubt there will be 'editions' of AoS in the traditional sense. I think the 4 pages of rules and warscrolls will remain as they are for the game's entire duration.

What I believe though is there will be more editions of the General's Handbook, which can only be a good thing.

This way they can adjust points costs for things ALL AT ONCE. This is also why I don't think they should include points costs of things in the battletomes. Also future editions of the General's Handbook could include additional rules for more modes of play and the like, to keep with the ongoing story.

This way they can 'update' the entire game using one singular book, and you don't need to rebuy any other books or army books. I am pretty stoked for it.

And if the General's Handbook stays around this same price, that would be a major bonus.

Today I played a 1000 points game with Clan Skryre.
1 Warlock
2 Warplightning Cannons
2 Units of Stormfiends (3 with Ratling guns, 3 with Warpflamethrowers)

Apparently I am overpowered as fuck.
I mean sure, most of my stuff does deadly wounds and once the battalion shenanigans are in place it gets even worse. But I also am prone to blowing my own shit up, so I don't get where all the whining is coming from.
>>
>>48306143

Stormfiends
>>
>>48307791

Come on, as long as its just a game for fun. Hell, I pitched my sole unit of Brutes against a full army of my friends old Dark Elves, just for shits and giggles.
And its not like they would fare better with the "official rules" where anything goes. Hell, I heard of people planting down a full table of only monsters when this game hit the shelves. Utterly destroying the new players wanting to throw dice with their newly invested storm casts.

>>
>>48307928

>>
>>48307459
That's a really good point, and I'd be ok with it. With an updated points list in one single tome released yearly would keep this game in the competitive scene I think.
>>
Hello all, how goes the war?

Any changes? Updates?

How's the local scene where you are?
>>
>>48307958
Cannons = 140 x 2 = 280
Stormfiends = 600
Warlock = 100

= 980

Also the blowing up part is for the battalion, where my weaoin teams, my warplightning cannons and my warlocks can kill themselves with one wrong roll. Well, two wrong rolls.

>>48307856
I say. It's a random ass weapon which, sure, can do a lot of damage, but other times, it does almost nothing.
Also I havent waited ten years for finally starting a Skyre army and not field two goddamn warplightning cannons.

I have a question. With the reinforcement rules, does this mean I can't summon beyond the agreed points limit in a pitched battle?

Example: I've prepared a 1000 point death list. During the battle, if all of my units in the 1000 points list are still alive, I am not allowed to cast any "summon" spells to add to my existing army?
>>
>>48308150
The fuck is this? I thought the point was to play whatever you wanted? The points was supposed to be just to balance sides, right?
>>
>>48308128
Well unless you can show me proof right now, I'll stick to saying it costs 140 points, since that is what I believe is what I saw in the generals handbook.

Also yes, the battalion costs 200 points, that I know. But I wasn't using that at 1000 points.

The official GW yellow never really got to me. I was actually about to start Chaos because why not, its cheap, available and over here, no one plays Khorne. But then I found some really "grimdark" Orruks, painted in mostly dark metal (fast, which is good when you like playing fully painted) with some white details on it. It was also good weathered, with rust and blood and all the little details that makes the model come alive, and just the things that was my cup of tea! I ordered my first 2 boxes of Orruks on the spot!

>implying Chaos needs a reason
>>
>>48309465

No that's Destruction. Chaos is ruled by extremes and base desires and fears projected, and distorted, by mortals.
>>
>>48309617
Actually, even destruction is puzzled by the pointlessness of Chaos's, well, destruction.

>‘The Hammer God misses his friend. He misses his brother. He misses fighting beside Gorkamorka and wishes to do so again, in the coming war,’ Zephacleas said. ‘He wishes that his warriors, and those of his brother, could march side-by-side, as we do now, to fight the Old Enemy.’

>‘Gorkamorka has been fighting them, hammer-boss,’ Gordrakk rumbled. ‘He’s been fighting them forever. But where is the Hammer God? Why has he not been fighting alongside Gorkamorka?’

>‘The Hammer God thought Gorkamorka didn’t want to fight beside him any more,’ Zephacleas said. ‘The Hammer God thought Gorkamorka had become his enemy.’

>Gordrakk laughed. ‘Yeah? So?’ He snorted and tapped the side of his head. ‘Hammer God never understood Gorkamorka, never saw. Gorkamorka wants to fight forever, but the Hammer God doesn’t. Hammer God wants to build walls and towers and castles... But what’s the point of that if you never knock them over?’ He snorted. ‘Even the Chaos-things don’t understand. They think the point is to kill everyone, but then who’d be there to fight? Nobody understands but Ironjawz, because we’re the smartest and the toughest.’

>Zephacleas stared at the orruk. Despite himself, he was beginning to comprehend how Gordrakk saw the world. For the orruks, there was no difference between an enemy and a friend. A friend was just an enemy you weren’t fighting at the moment, and an enemy was just a friend who was trying to kill you. He cocked his head, considering. Then, he said, ‘So? Why not show us?

>>
>>48309421
GW doesn't know the difference between chaos, destruction and evil.

They're shit writers mostly and the fact that you can have a united front of chaos or gods of specific facets of chaos is literally impossible given it's true nature.
In fact the idea that anything exists in the realm from moment to moment is also a stretch.

They wanted the World of Warcraft audience initially.

Then realized 'oh fuck even axing Brets/TKs we can't just have spiky red guys versus Blue paladin guys'

And then just made four factions, even though 3 of them are 'evil'

But notice how Nagash is negotiable, and how the Strigoi ghouls mimic humanity and shit, much like all vampires. At any point GW can suddenly decide that it's Death/Order versus Chaos/Destruction

It probably will be after this season to level the playing field since it seems death has the weakest fanbase, with Order at the top.

Thats why the Horned Rat feels so awkward as Chaos God. The old four were basically emotions taken to an obsessive max. Horned Rat is... nothing kinda. It seems like the only Chaos god who couldn't give a rats ass about the great game and just wants its children to conquer the world(s) and be the only god around.

I really hope that Slannesh will come back and then a great sunderring will take place to split the Skaven from Chaos.

Even gameplay wise the Chaos gifts/artifacts you get in matched play feel awkward and not really skaven-ish at all.

This.
Even the fluff is written to reflect how little chaos matters.

Skryre are hired guns and ferrymen and will just fuck over Chaos as a whole when the time is right.Sure that one Engineer pledged himself to Archaeon, but who wouldn't

Pestilens goes well out of it's way to give Nurgle the middle finger, as it should given how Pestilens in this new Canon doesn't even have the old Liber-Nurgle connection, priests pray to the Horned Rat and he rewards them, Nurgle doesn't do anything and every Verminlord corrupter wants to undermine their Unclean One counterparts

I wish we could have gotten a Battletome: Skaven and just break away from all this.

I gota ask, I've never actively gone to a GW store, I was considering playing there instead if it means seeing at least some people trying this. For those of you who play at GW stores would you say the ratio of 40k to AoS players is leaning too one side or the other? Or is your stores fairly balanced?

But I have really made my mind set, I will go in to AoS because of the models, and thus, I wont allow myself to waste good miniatures by not painting. Thats like getting a fraction of the value of what you pay for your models if you think about it. So every time I feel like "nah.. I need to put down the brush, watch some TV... The Horned Rat has been described by GW as a mixture of Nurgle and Tzeentch. He like all gods survived the end times and brought his subjects with him, even brining their old captial city and elevating several worthy Skaven to Daemonhood.

After doing so and spreading his children across the moral realms during the Age of Myth some of his oldest Verminlords Corruptors and some 'newly' elevated ones retained the memories and teachings of Pestilens and the religion started anew.

The conclave of Rot was the very first congregation to form and were granted a vision from the Horned Rat himself that in order to see him rise to power they must gather the 13th Great plagues recorded in Liber tomes, this was the first Great Withering as the clan was given a goal, yet upon finding these tomes the various misinterpretations and gleamed ideals from the texts caused the Conclave to split and fracture into Three distinct factions within Pestilens, yet even they would split further during the age of Chaos when the mortal realms were ruined.

Currently seven of the Plagues have been discovered and by this point several hundred divisions of Clans Pestilens exist each believing in a specific way of existing, fighting, and worshiping their deity. Although not all clans agree on it the Second Withering is said to be taking place right now during the Age of Sigmar, half their work is complete.

The Third and final Withering or the Age of Corruption will come to be when each plague is gathered and conjured, with all 13 combined all Pestilens as a whole shall ascend to greatness, the Horned one will devour Sotek and Sigmar and rise above even his Chaos peers, he will embrace his true aspect (Corruption) All Skaven shall bow to Pestilens, all Non-skaven life will be destroyed, and the realms themselves shall rot for eternity.

Yeah this. i'm not the guy talking about him in a Vacuum.

Durthu himself cannot regen d3 wounds like some monsters can, assuming he is about 300-400 points then about 600 of your points could be 'wasted' on him and two buffing wizards.

He can deflect wounds put on his mages, but if he's babysitting them he's not in your lines fighting, same as if he's hiding in a forest. this is where unbinding comes into play to try and shut down his casting.

Finally, i wouldn't ever do it, but if someone does empower his shooting it can go wrong since it's d3 mortal wounds in his shooting phase. if he drops by 2-3 wounds and the enemy has the next turn, he can be taken down before any healing can be attempted.

>you can only cast Regrowth once per friendly hero phase meaning there's a very limited amount of Wounds he can heal per turn
>you cannot "immediately" heal what you sacrifice for the shooting, as you sacrifice in the shooting phase, two phases after where you can heal
>impaling talon has to roll ABOVE, so max 5 wounds and even that is fucking unlikely
>you have to get those additional woods you want to teleport him into from somewhere
>he's four-fucking-hundred points. I could get Drycha and 10 Dryads for that

The weakest Verminlord, but also the cheapest, so it evens out.

Obviously a Pestilens army leader, perfect general as they have either him or Skrolk to pick, both have strong unique command traits mind.

In combat he has many attacks yet no rend, avoid high armour and instead target multi-wound units, spread his many attacks and cast plague on tight groups. if you leave anything half-wounded by ANY of his offensive moves you should score a free mortal wound. Cast shield on himself, he is one of Two verminlords who can attempt 2 spells.

I love him, an auto include for Pestilens force, but in a more general Skaven army a warbringer or deceiver might be more useful for direct combat and simplicity

An airbrush is your best bet.
>>
Is there any reason NOT to build a Wrath of Khorne Bloodthirster? Besides the (modest) increase in points during Matched Play? Seems like they just do everything better besides Insensate Rage's risky potential for silly amounts of mortal wounds.
>>
>>48312853
So don't use plague and bolt in one turn? Do I use him near my frontline?
>>
>>48312888
Yeah front-line unit for sure, he's got to do some fighting, but needs to know what to engage. i love using Plague but i generally cast Shield first and then see what else is needed. plague won't do much versus say Ogres, and if a hero comes to challenge him you'll want the mystic bolts. it's easy to forget he can retreat if needed.

He might not go down so easy but it's possible that he waste his efforts slashing at something with a 3+ save that he'll never take down. He could drown a 5+ save monster like a Chimera or Giant in attacks sure, i'd attempt that.

>>
>>48314118
Haven't done it for elfs in particular, but:
1) Chop the head off of some quadrupedal mount
2) Chop the legs off of a humanoid (Or don't stick 'em on at all if they're supplied unattached)
3) Glue the halves together, reinforcing the seam with green stuff, balsa wood dowels, or sprues as necessary.
4) Since the seam will be mismatched, you can cover the joining area it up with armour plates, a cloak, or any other "obscuring" accessory. You can see that >>48313145
did this with loincloths, and it has worked extremely well.
5) If the joining area is still obvious for whatever reason, fill the seam with modelling putty or green stuff.

And there you have it, centaurs in five simple steps.

I admit its a shoddy job and I'm going to be fixing it and their bases later, but I have to say that beastmen in general have pretty glaring gaps where their arms and torso meet, Ungors especially. The Gors hide it better with their fur and Bestigors have armor so its a non-issue.

How would you balance the Factions so as to prevent the current 50%+ across the board being seen for Order?
>>
>>48314477
Don't release a super popular powerful new faction for order right before a campaign.

Don't have order have like 5+ different races with chaos at 2 destruction at 3 and death at like barely 3.
>>
>>48314477
Halve the points costs of everything chaos death and destruction? I don;t know.

The reason why order is dominating so much is sales affect the scores, not just wins. If an order faction is more popular in sales right now, it will heavily influence this.
>>
>>48314511
So will the upcoming Bonesplitterz actually make a difference?

new rules, yes. But no new kits. So that's a factor
>>
>>48314589
Fucking Treemen
>>
>>48314477
order is winning because:
-new order faction that generates a lot of buzz
-stormcasts being the posterboys for the game/setting and probably being a very common entry point into the game
-having a ton of subfactions with very different looks and themes vs 10 different variations on skeletons and spirits.
>>
>>48314589
Maybe we just need updated rules for old battletome factions that people are already using eg. I play pestilens. I want traits abilities, spells and artifacts.
>>
>>48314021
Hell pit abomination. Maulerfiend is perfect for it.
>>
>>48314477
Order is the new Imperium, so it'll never even out.

That said, I'd expect that Chaos, at it's present rate, will eventually be somewhat close to Order. Death and Destruction will always lack, simply because the universe doesn't leave them much to work with.
Destruction will get a few more races, for sure, like FW's Fimirach stuff they showed off. Death though is limited in being just flavors of 'undead'; they can get more fleshed out ghost factions, or some kinda 'human death cultists' faction or something, but they'll always be falling behind. I expect that Tomb Kings will return in some fashion, probably with a more necron-y flair.

>necrony
What do you mean by that? Also, I think death has just a good variety of ideas for factions as any other. It just depends on how they play with it, and how loose Nagash's true reign is. We've already seen that Undead CAN rebel against Nagash, ala the Flesh Eater courts. All it takes is some creative thinking on GW's parts. Infact, Death holds the greatest possibility of Factions in my opinion, thanks to the fact that anything can be raised. Just watch;

>Forsaken of the gods
Most that serve chaos will rarely ever reach any sort of true power or attain glorious Daemon Princedom. These that have the will power to resist being eaten by the Gods, find themselves pulled back to their corpses, filled with revenge.

Boom. A anti-Chaos Death faction.

This guy has the right of it for the most part, except that first pic was just the torso of the units glued to the stump of the severed stag head. I did end up bulking out the waist with greenstuff fur in order to cover the seam because the neck part was a little too narrow to line it up right.

It's actually a super easy conversion but you do have to apply some pressure to cut those stag heads off, and you need to shave off some of the back or front of the neck to make it line up with the torso correctly (I mostly did the front)

Less obvious: I shaved down the stirrups on the sides, but didn't remove them entirely, and a bundled up the spears left over from the wildriders to bulk up the sisters' arsenal.

>>48316205
i like hammer prosecutors and i wont even give the prime a great weapon because i like that they have a range attack. but if you want to take the grandaxe in a unit, don't put it on the prime. if you want to take the grandhammer or grandblade, give it to the prime.

shields is up to you. if you want these guys to be killy, like I do, where they flank around and put pressure on war machines and wizards, then you want to keep them dual wielding. If you want them to survive for the formation they are in, like the hammerstrike force, then you might want to give them shields. But re-rolling 1's really isn't that much of a benefit. So i just stick with dual hammers on everyone.

the great weapons I avoid because again I feel it reduces their range attacking.
>>
>>48316281
absolutely perfect, anon. keep up the good work.

To me conversions are the most interesting part of this game. I rarely build a model without modifying it somewhat in some way.

>so riddle me this: after the Chaos baddie Archaon destroyed the World of Warhammer Sigmar grabbed the core of the planet and flew off inter space and did what?

Less flew off into space with it, more rode it like Dr Strangelove into the warp for a few centuries before being rescued by Dracothian, a big bad space dragon.

He then discovered that the winds of magic had survived the fall of the old world and coalesced into 8 different planes of existence called the Mortal Realms.

>Meanwhile the fragmented surface of the Warhammer World flew off into space also... At what point did the survivors make they're way into the 8 mortal realms?

Almost immediately. Mortals landed in all 8 realms, came out of their pocket dimensions, fought their way out of the warp or were just reborn in the Mortal Realms.

>What happened to the Empire? Did it maintain its political struction for the last 10,000 years

Gone. Humans associated with Azyr appear to be the direct descendants of the Empire and seem to be the inheritors of their culture.
>>
>>48316242
>Fragmented surface
No. The Mortal Realms are the Winds of Magic, coalesced into actual environments. The crust (and presumably mantle) of the Warhammer World is just space rocks now.
>Sigmar grabbed the core of the planet
That he did, he didn't want to fall off. He loved his world.
>flew off into space
No. He kinda stayed there and moped. Dracothion (implied to be Sotek, kinda like how Morr was kinda also Usirian) found him and took him to the newly created Realm of Azyr.

>At what point did the survivors
The only survivors were the Incarnates, friend. If you mean the people who now exist in the Realms, they were made from the souls of the dead. As a result, I wouldn't say they "arrived", I'd say they were "created".
As for when it happened, all that anyone (including GW) knows is it was a bloody long time ago.

>What happened to the Empire? Did it maintain its political structure for the last 10,000 years?
It died. The models live on, but the nation is dead. That said, the city of Sigmaron has a similar political structure going on, judging by what little we've seen of it.

You don't need to be confuse, have my reassures
>>
>>48316387
no im pretty sure they do. their ranged attack is also their melee attack. basically they have 3 loadout options:

>twin celestial hammers

Losing the celestial hammers means they lose the range attack.

I have halberds and shields on my Warriors and it works nicely, being able to fight in two ranks is more useful to me than getting +1 to hit. With great weapons you'd lose the mortal wound save from their shields, making them less useful as an anvil unit.

I have a unit of 5 Chosen in my army and they are so-so. Chosen can certainly dish out damage, but in a small unit they go down quickly if your opponent pays serious attention to them. The best way to use them is to keep their flanks protected by other units so they don't get overwhelmed, while they buff the units protecting them.

If you plan on using a Lord on foot as your General, just remember you need to pick a 'Mark' to give him and other units in your army to benefit from his Command Ability. If you're planning on using one on Daemonic Steed or Manticore though, you don't need to worry about that.

Does this look at least somewhat acceptable?

You lack rend, but your battleshock phase will be horrible for the opponent - remember to spam Wlydwoods
40 Dryads and 1 squad of TR seems to be core for almost all lists

Mine for comparasion

Finally a scene of everyday life of a faction that doesn't involve war

I spent most of yesterday crawling through the GW site downloading ALL the warscrolls locally.
I'm nearly done (just legacy order stuff to go) so if it's something people want then I might stick em somewhere to download if there's any interest.
Quite frankly I was surprised someone hadn't done it already but I'm relatively new to this (ain't even played AOS) so maybe they have... dunno.

There are events and stuff, but no concrete timeline. All we know is

>Age of Myth: Millenia ago
>Age of Chaos: 500 years ago
>Age of Sigmar: NOW

I have no idea how long it's been in-story since that first strike against Khorgos Khul, does anyone have any idea how much time has passed?

Sorry that's 2000/2000 - I have 3 seperate lists on the same doc

I plan on running my Warriors in blocks of ten or less, are you sure that halberds are better in that case? I'll definely leave on their shields though, thats for certain.

Thanks for the headsup on Chosen. They carry a hefty price tag for such a small unit. I might instead use aother, more Chaos god specific unit, because I dont want to drop 35$ on a unit that I know is going to wipe if any real force is thrown at them.

You know, after browsing through the Lords abilities, im kinda turned off from him. I think I'll keep him for higher point games, but I dont like how he transforms into a Daemon Prince if he kills the gen. I also dislike how much calvary focused the Chaos Knight lord is. I guess I'll be sticking to the Manticore version in this case.

That doesn't look like a creature I've seen before, that's pretty cool!

Moonclan grots are a lot of FUN*. The fanatics, cave squigs and the mangler squig can all cause a crazy amount of wounds but get killed by a light breeze. They have some fun little tactical tricks, like releasing a single fanatic in the opponents charge phase to keep an enemy unit form charging your mangler squig or squishy heroes. The moonclan shamans unique spell can spread out decent amount of mortal wounds but can also fry your own gobbos.

In general, everything is pretty squishy but capabale of doing quite a bit more damage than you would expect on a glance. This means you need to be REALLY careful in what fights you pick and when. If you have both your fanatics and mangler squig charge in the same turn, only one of them will get their attacks of while the other will get killed without having done anything, so you need to thing ahead alot.

There lot's of FUN*, so if you're someone who hates getting fucked over by bad dice rolls you should probably stay away. But if winning isn't your highest priority they can be a very enjoyable and (sometimes) rewarding army to play.

Still tinkering with a flesheater courts list, thoughts on this?
I originally had a vampire lord instead of the extra varghulf for his command ability.. But I think red fury on my ghoul king would be better so making him my general instead?
Or I can keep the vampire lord and give him the command trait that gives ignore wounds on a 5+ for allegiance trait?

HEROES
Abhorrant Ghoul King on Terrorgheist (400) - Red Fury, Ring of Immortality

A semi unrelated question about summoning- do I have to indicate on a list what's held in reserves, or merely that I have a certain amount of points set aside to summon whatever I like?

What the fuck are those?! They look cool, I wonder if we'll ever get models for them. Or maybe GW is finally okay with letting artists come up with their own background creatures.

I feel like I'm almost most excited about that rather than the battalions and warclans.
>Beastclaw Raiders next
It's really a good time for a destruction player that's also a Monster Hunter fanboy.

current local players are favoring 2500 for larger games, since they don't take that much longer than 2k and add some flexibility, with 1k being standard for short games.

C&C on this 2500 list? I know my modelcount is low, but its semi-intentional, order draconis units are battleshock immune within 16" of a noble or lord, and the helms are decent bravery if used in pairs, current plan is to try and keep mobility advantage and aim for a heavy charge.

How out of place would it be to use The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings minis in my Order army?

I was thinking of getting some archers and spear men to fill out my Brettonian army.

I just got a Magmadroth kit. I'm definitely going to make a Runesmiter on foot, so which of the other two should I put on salamanderback?

How are you gonna make halberds/greatweps?

Asking cause the way your post is written sounds like you got some in the box.
>>
>>48318735
Seems like it's big weakness is the lack of Range/Arty, if I was fielding my Bret army against that I'd batter the Herald and Prince with my Trebuchets and the Drones/Bloodletters with my Archers, it's a dice roll how effective that would be though.
