Isn't it strange that someone who was allegedly physically abused by a girlfriend is okay with mentally raping people?
>>

Why would you go to all the effort of making such a thing then censor the work fuck?
You know what the word is.
Anyone that's seen the meme knows what the word is.
Anyone who is of primary school english proficiency knows what the word is.
Anyone so oversensitive to be offended by the word fuck is going to be offended anyway because again, they know what the word is.
This censorship does not compute.

Considering that -2 acts as a lower bound of species value, having different expressions of the same magic seem to break the game.

Like having Enchanting being Rare for -2 worth of races, and Common for -1 worth of races, it will give a total cost of -7, compared to -4 if all those races with Common manifestation changed to Rare.

While the text does not recommend repeating the process for the same kind of magic, it does allow for it, so yeah.

SETTLEMENT: START (400 SP)

>Apocalypse: Zombie Apocalypse
Boring, sure, cliche, yes, but reliably so, and I think this one is where the odds are most even.

>Shelter: Ship
A pretty easily defensible position with lots of potential for improvement.

Buildings:
>Water Processing Plant (Free with Ship)
>Clinic (380 SP Remain)
>Generator Room (350 SP Remain)
>Store (335 SP Remain)
>Tavern (320 SP Remain)
>Town Hall (295 SP Remain)
The ship already has places for bunks in it, so I'm not too concerned about living space. The majority of points have gone into renovating the ship so that it can be livable again.

Perks: (5 PP)
>Lucky (4 PP Remain)
>Medic (3 PP Remain)
>Armory (2 PP Remain)
>Natural Leader (1 PP Remain)
>Sniper (0 PP Remain)
Luck is indispensable in a situation like this. An armory will be a huge boon to fend off zombies with. As zombies create fear, being a natural leader will help calm those around me, as well as my sniper skills. Being a medic will also likely have the same effect.

Mechanics:
>Gordon Wey (288 SP Remain)
>Mateo Enrique (285 SP Remain)
>Raul Tejada (280 SP Remain)
With this combination, I have more than enough manpower to get the ship up and running on schedule.
Doctors:
>James Harvey (272 SP Remain)
I'll be able to cover most of the more dedicated work in the clinic, while James can cover field medicine. Over time, he'll learn more skills.
Cooks:
>Miyo Miyazaki (263 SP Remain)
Adaptability is the most important trait in a zombie apocalypse. The more palatable, the better.
Muscle:
>Bubba (252 SP Remain)
>Nita (242 SP Remain)
>Zane (229 SP Remain)
>Danny (223 SP Remain)
A moderately powerful combat force. Danny will be useful in negotiating with other settlements.
Merchants:
>Damien (221 SP Remain)
>Sasha (206 SP Remain)
>Felicia (191 SP Remain)
Drug usage will not be tolerated. The situation is real and requires the utmost seriousness. We must make do with what we have.
>Worker *2 (171 SP Remain)
>Farmer *3 (156 SP Remain)

Things within the Pocket Dimension have no special protections, but you are free to interpret them as "respawning" if you like. But... why are you letting hostile forces into your Pocket Dimension?

And, thanks.

>>
>>48288159
Not every build is built for combat. Every single Archivist I've seen, even if they have weapons, aren't 100% meant for combat. Some dude made a build for some average lanky guy who can see the fourth wall. There are other builds, but with the armory options, I'm not surprised that people make combat builds.

Kamen Rider or Masked Rider, one of the triumvirates of japanese heroic tokusatu, along with Ultraman and Sentai (Power Ranger).

From wiki:
The series takes place in a world plagued by Shocker, a mysterious world-wide terrorist organization. To further its plans for world domination, Shocker recruited its agents through kidnapping, turning their victims into mutant cyborgs and, ultimately, brainwashing them. However, one victim named Takeshi Hongo escaped just before the final brainwashing. With his sanity and moral conscience intact, Hongo battled Shocker's minions as the grasshopper-themed altered human superhero Kamen Rider.

For anyone who cares, just a note that I've decided to give World of Myth and Wonder DLC a major overhaul which is now underway; I realized it had become FAR too complicated and detail-oriented. I plan to retain all of the content, but am aiming for something much more choice-based and streamlined, leaving more interpretation up to the reader to allow both simplicity and flexibility. For this reason don't expect any more updates until late tonight at the very earliest, or this weekend.

This will not impact the main CYOA, Altering History; that is fine.

A trading hub in the wasteland. Enjoy our fine cuisine and alcohol while here, much of it personally grown by me. Our merchants sell a wide assortment of practical goods for all types of buyers. Feel safe and sound knowing our commitment to security and extreme, agonizing punishments for thieves and raiders. Rudy truly makes an art form out of deterrence.

Want to know more about me? I use my superhuman physical abilities to farm. It's not glamorous and Mad Mutt and I may look ugly, but together we ensure everyone is fed. The town is mostly run by respected residents of the community. I only step in during crises.

I don't know if any of you remember, but there was a really basic MS paint little girl CYOA a few threads ago, but what caught my eye was that there was an option called "Innawoods" that had you operating with a magical rifle and a backpack that regenerated supplies. That inspired me, so have a peek at what I'm currently making.

In addition to what I have already made, there's going to be weapon mods, companions, backpack supplies, factions, and few missions.

I already wrote down what I had planned for weapon mods, though. Will post right after this.

I'll finish the Ace Combat-esque CYOA sometime soon too I promise.
>>
>>48290047
Not to my taste (don't care for firearm oriented stuff), BUT it looks high quality and interesting. Objectively, in other words, it looks good.
>>
>>48290047
MODS – Pick 3

Secondary Weapon: You now have two personal guns instead of one. You can use this to have a proper personal sidearm, or you can use this to wield two guns at once. All mods apply for both.

Bells and Whistles: Anything and everything that can make your rifle more tacticool is covered, from overpriced tactical lasers to silly bipod foregrips. Proudly sponsored by Magpul Industries.

Offensive Attachment: Underbarrel grenade launchers, bayonets, standoff/glassbreaker devices, and the works. Now you can kill things in ways other than bullet.

A Little Work: Sometimes, the best way to improve a weapon isn’t adding things to it, but rather, refining what’s already there. Whether it be as discrete and modest as you want, or as lavish and show-offy as you please, it’s sure to make for a finer weapon in the end.

Major Modification: Want an M82 chambered in 14.5×114mm Soviet? Want your double barreled boomstick to have four barrels instead? Want an Mk 108 that you can haul around and fire in hand? Additions of this nature can be all yours, for the bargain price of one point.

Optics: From Aimpoints and Eotechs all the way to high magnification scopes, these will help you aim quicker and further than standard irons. Free for DMRs, sniper rifles, and anti-material rifles.

Suppressor: These specialized muzzle devices makes your firing report quiet enough that you will no longer suffer permanent hearing damage without ear protection, on top of hiding muzzle flash. Free for integrally suppressed weapons, and weapons designed from the ground up to be suppressed. Free for integrally suppressed weapons, or weapons designed from the ground up to be paired with a suppressor.

Product of Fiction: Your gun doesn’t actually exist in reality. Costs twice as much if the gun in question is far more advanced than real life varieties, or if there’s some kind of supernatural or magical component to it. Try to be reasonable, okay?

Remember that this could be considered a narrative thing. An ambush predator that relies upon burrowing in upon unsuspecting victims, Stalker Delta as he has been designated is proving quite a problem to ISIL in Iraq and Syria and numerous other jihadist groups. For now the entity is content with hunting down and scaring the living daylights out of Terrorists, we don't know what it plans upon doing after it has either scared them all into hiding, or left their... eviscerated remains hanging from flag poles or left within walls and floors in an apparent psychological mode of warfare...

Stalker delta is not to be approached at this time, his behavior is as yet still unpredictable, though we hope he is more well intentioned than how he looks or has behaved...

>>48291664
Perhaps, but that's why I grab everything and edit it. The first draft of anything is too autistic, but some background info and balance can reduce it to a useful amount of autism.
>>
>>48291369
>>48291405
Yeah, that. I haven't actually done too much to it right now, started writing for some companions (and adding a few to round out the number) and fleshing out some of the options, but it's pretty much intact unless you changed some things yourself. I had an idea on how to better streamline purchasing planes, but I'm not so sure how it would work in practice since the rest of that section is unfinished.

We could work on it together I guess, the crushing possibility that I might disappoint someone who's worked hard on a project we share has usually been a good motivator in the past, but I'm not so adept at the image-making portion, at least that's why I haven't finished my other project.

>>
>>48292075
There are some basic rules to follow in my opinion.

1) Understand that the character you're making is a part of the world, they sleep, they eat, they shit every now and again unless they're Antarctic Elders, they think that's gross and interact with other Travellers. They must actually exist in tandem with their environment.
2) All characters must have flaws and strengths, these can be directly visible or simply implied but they must have presence.
3) They're gonna die some day. When creating a character you need to understand they exist at a moment in the timeframe of their lives. And one day they will be nothing but memories and soap.
I try to follow these three rules for every companion I add on, barring a few exceptions which have a longer list of rules.

>>48292313
Then Have I been doing a decent job?
>>
>>48292358
I haven't read traveller or any of the builds but generally, if your writing style reads like your wanking while writing, or that you're a super special snowflake who can't lose, it's bad.
Basically read angelanon's posts and don't do that
Don't go "As the unholy child of an angel and a demon, I knew no place to call home. I was banished to roam the world", or shit like how you're literally the best person ever at something, without even practicing.

We roam from place to place, putting down villains while I proselytize the masses for Vilges the Holy.
I'm basically a Priest for Vilges, but I'm not defenseless, and an assailant would sorely regret attempting to accost me, not even accounting for my much stronger companions; Julius, Temoraclese, and Arden.

After we razed that bandit clan, we hear that a bunch of misguided clerics are going to make an attempt on the life of Saint Vilges.
ABSOLUTELY. UNACCEPTABLE.
I will talk sense into them, and if they will not hear my words, I will beat it into them.

>>48292707
The first one played like a badly written Shonen protagonist with no clear limits on power and a desire to enforce 'justice' on other travellers.

The other was a 'child of the great old ones' that came about as close to it as that Japanese porn version of Nyarlathotep.

Neither could do wrong and could apparently "crush most other Travellers."

First guy I put kicking off the eleventh time war and ending up getting Oberyn-Martell'd by Gadraki, the other one is locked in a pocket dimension and the bitch is never getting out. Such characters Ironically work better as antagonists.

So what are the reasons for each Time War? So far, I've seen:

>The very first Time War amongst the ‘travellers’ was the divide in the use of our technology, the leftovers, our gifts from the void things, when the first generation had remained to be submissive unaware lapdogs.
>There was great initial debate over whether or not ethereal beings with total physical basis should be allowed to join the ranks and was a contributing factor to the third Time War.
>fourth [No Traveller may own another sentient being be it a physical, ethereal or artificial being]
>fifth [No Traveller shall use mercenaries, and other non-travellers in their journeys, Ae shall remain under Traveller foot aside from a hallowed few.
>The Sixth Time War was a slow burn up of a refusal to abide by the council of Nine’s decision to follow the rules instituted by the Judiciaries input, notably the basis that all Travellers had to be recruited, doing away the concepts of conscription and genetic inheritance that had prior been floated.
>seventh time war between the Travellers and a group of Time-travelling Slavers who seized upon the chaos

Which leaves the Second and the Eighth through Twelfth unknown.

>and other non-travellers in their journeys

The second was a blatant power grab by a potent AI and a hyper-aggressive Yautja, though they both overstepped themselves and were cast down by Sam and Marco.

Eighth was a resurgent war and a technical continuation of the fifth-through-seventh conflicts with survivors from the losing sides simultaneously strike several hundred hubworlds in an attempt to gain leverage on Ae.

Ninth was another attempted power grab that attempted to bring in several legions of spess Romans onto Ae that ended in a complete wipe by the godheads.

Tenth began as a conflict within the void hunters that would fuck up their numbers to date on accepting the help of some of the more benevolent children of the old-ones and void entities (Shub Niggurath, Papa Nurgle and Yog Sothoth) it expanded into a full time war when cohorts from the Fighters and administrators started taking sides.

Eleventh was best described as a six week war that no one can remember who started and cost most of Biological and Medical their infrastructure. What likely began as an internal in Bio spread out and brought thousands in with very little idea of what was going on.

Twelth was the smallest time war that began as a feud between Igra and a number of third generations over his several centuries in charge of admin, the third gens were bureaucrats within his department and attempted to assassinate him, and when that failed they attempted a coup. Which was inadvisable as the rest of the council didn't take kindly to that.

>>48293170
They can, but you can't take them back with you to Ae, at least not without permission.

The rule itself was put into place when the Travellers were still few in number, and it was possible that a rogue Traveller could hypothetically use bought manpower to make up for size to seize control of the Travellers.

Oh hey, it's me again, author of that Principality CYOA! Do you remember me? Of course you don't.

But no matter. See, this here is a WIP. I'm wondering about how people would pick provinces for their principality on a map. Last time I've posted this map, voicing my concern about the design, people were like "Pffft, we're not idiots, we can read this map just fine", but I know that things aren't that simple. Constantly checking between the map, province characteristics and your own build can be quite annoying and searching for half an hour for the province you've read in the lower section may turn people away. I wouldn't want that, so I went for the following solution - I added the picture of the province below its description to make this a bit easier.

Was this addition the right one (if useful at all), and can you propose anything else?
>>
>>48293925
Very difficult atleast. I can imagine a dozen settings where one would have to be "okay" with slavery in the setting, atleast publicly, in order to complete a traveller-quest.

Bro-bots are equal to AI in the same way a human being is equal to a squirrel. While the unformed AI isn't actually a full sentient yet and when it does actually reach the end of its growth the Traveller who initially took custody of it will no longer own it. The issue itself is messy, with varied opinions all around, aside from a surprising number of AI who actually endorse 'those who will yet be' getting experience. True AI are odd like that.

>>48293925
Seemingly, but when you've got the Judiciary skulking about there's surprisingly little trouble.

>>48293963
Of course Travellers may deal with the worst scum reality has to offer, but its the moment you start banking on them and buying slaves a Judicial hits you with a sack of pennies.

>>
>>48294156
meh, as long as someone starts posting builds and shit besides pdfs. I cant even read them.
>>
>>48294108
I mean, you can just fuck off and don't deal with any of them for eons and just do whatever you want. They may be 'skulking around' and in theory be able to punish you, but when you actively stay away from other travelers there's not a lot they can do, and if we're being logical, they shouldn't care that much at that point anyway.
>>
>>48293963
I think the rule just means Travellers can't get it in their heads that they can own other sentient beings. It's likely that the rule also doesn't allow Travellers to decide what's sentient or not. It isn't a call to abolish slavery in every timeline forever, just a rule that specifies that Travellers can't own slaves. Doesn't stop them from knowing or interacting with people who do and doesn't oblige them to free every slave they come across.
>>
>>48294108
The important question is, are you actually going to do anything with that pet rock one?
>>
>>48294190
but I already made four builds for Hero Academy.
It's sorta dull when I don't have an idea of what happens after the character creation. The missions during the education are cool and all, and help with writing a story, but why do I need to be a hero?

>>
>>48294292
yeah, having different quests and stuff helps with replayability.
>>
>>48294192
I would agree with you were it not for a few things. First and foremost the presence of Augurs and those whose explicit job it is to watch over the Travellers who will utilize them. While of course you can just fuck off and wander across the void for a few centuries it's not unlikely that someone will come by to check on you, once a century. While Traveller numbers reach into the millions, it is still very possible to keep an eye on everyone with the tools admin has.

>>48294250
I think I can actually do something with it.
>>
>>48294322
I don't have any complaints about the map so far. I just hope I can rule the Great steppes.
>>
>>48294322

>>
>>48294332
Little too police state, to be honest with you. Way too controlling. I don't think you're the kind to change lore at request, but it kinda ruins the feel if you always have someone breathing down your neck and who won't leave you alone.
>>
>>48293951
good, good, though how big are those provinces (in km^2 or compare to Europe)? And how big that whole land, because without any scales I lose myself
>>
>>48294323
Even still, I almost ended up with the exact same quests each time.
I think the only difference between the four builds, is whether I pick "culture festival".

It hurts me so when I see a cool cyoa, and I'm left with a feeling of "what now?"
When all it is is a character creator, without giving any ideas on what to do next. That's especially seen when you have a non-Earth setting.
If I don't know how the setting works, what I can do, I have to make every part of the story up without anything to go on.
>>
>>48294332
Still, even if the Travellers number in the millions, that still on the size of modern day armies. Its not hard to think that the Administration department has a pretty good eye on things.

Thing is, can one leave the travellers, and if so, if one commits acts the Travellers would consider a crime, would they then still punish you?

But they aren't, consider the technology a Traveller wields, the possible damage a person could cause with it. You can literally leave Ae at any point, not join any factions or have any contact with any Travellers for decades. Combat Reflexes, Tactician

Let's go find that Heart! And then a celestial feather in the Divine Plane, and a demon limb in the Demonic Plane and a golden lotus in the Physical Plane... Then the Heart again. But after that I get to rule the World!

Companions:
>Iratha and Hsaru, elf ranger+pet
Orientation and survival skills are a must for finding hidden stuff. Comes with a bonus pet wolf.
>Morrigan, blue-skinned mentalist
Extrasensory Perception and Divination, also great to find hidden shit.
>Akshera, foxy battlemage
Defense magic to protect the two aforementioned weaklings. Knowledgeable, and good at killing demons. Sounds useful for the demon limb chapter.

Companion quests:
Iratha's tracking combined with Morrigan's divination allows us to find the latter's Empowering Crystal. Boom, she powers up and rewards me with sex. After that we travel around in search of the Heart, with a quick stop at the elf's forest to wipe out these bothersome orcs. She shows her gratitude with sex. We'll find the hellgate once we've gone through in and out of it with the demon limb. At this juncture Akshera will of course reward me with sex.

Reward:

Second, is there some requirement for selecting possible recruits? There seems to be little in common among the origins except for the fact that most of them doesn't have a "home" and are all well talented.
Finally, is it possible to exchange gear earned from origin for credit and get a better one? For example, Privateer Extraordinaire gets a Tebulasi Frigate, can I exchange it + 600 credits for an INS Ship?

I used to roleplay a ton with her. Then I got annoyed that every time, she would use the exact same build.
Zero imagination. One time she hadn't even bothered to update her build when a new version was made - so she doesn't even look at the cyoas beyond the name.

Then I started noticing sure, she's responding to people, but she's posting nothing. It was always crap like "Uh I like that!". Basically, she was only responding as an excuse to get other people to read her builds

I'm not joking, I think I roleplayed with her in the Generic Fantasy CYOA maybe four or five times, and she's always used the exact same build.
She's one of the few people left, I think, who do roleplaying and read people's builds.

>Second, is there some requirement for selecting possible recruits?
No one knows the exact specifics of the recruitment process besides Marco Fulcanelli, and he isn't talking. Usually it comes down to an augur pointing to timelines and locations with possible recruits, going there and rubbing a Crystal Marco made into peoples faces until you find someone.

But they aren't. A dude checking in on you once every few decades =/= surveillance state.

If you don't believe me as the person who wrote the damn thing consider the situation in the cyoa. The Travellers have feuded constantly, twelve bloody time wars, after the first one the possibility to use Draconian laws was open and even a reasonable option for the power they had, but they refused that. The council of nine would rather let another time war where thousands if not tens of thousands would die then try to enforce greater authority on the Travellers as a whole.

A dude able to watch you anywhere, doing anything, that you have no way to stop or control or predict at all. Your privacy is always at risk, you could be watched at any time.

People keep trying to use phone calls as a comparison, but a phone call is something you can control. You don't have to answer, and the only information they get is that which you tell them. This is different. They can see anything, at any time, you have no control or safety at all. That's the difference here. Even if it's only occasionally, that's still ALWAYS hanging over your head.

Tough choices.

>The Invasion
>Carrier Arc
>Heavy Armor

These would dramatically advance technology. The logistical advances alone enabling an entire metropolis in space are incredible. The Heavy Armor makes for an excellent space or diving suit and could be repurposed for civilian construction. The Invasion unites humanity and would create an enormous economic boom after the war, both dramatically lowering the odds of humanity's self-destruction.

That, and the three choices allow me to fight aliens in a mech. Who wouldn't want to do that?

Any sections you guys would like to see in this Space Criminals thing I'm working on?

Premise is you're an escaped prisoner in a stolen spaceship. Setting is a space faring society in decline, in which the core worlds are dystopian cyberpunk hellholes, and the outer worlds which thousands of years ago sat on the fringes of known space have regressed to various stages of primitiveness, from feudal societies to cave dwellers. No aliens.

So far decisions are:

>What you were in for (choose a crime, and one of two unique perks related to it)
>Your skills/abilities
>What type of ship you've stolen
>Add ons to the ship (facilities, weapons etc)
>Your equipment (points to spend across weapons, cybernetic implants and general gear)
>Your crew (fellow escaped prisoners)
>Team equipment (another smaller gear section in which there's enough of what you choose for everyone, a bonus as crew comes with whatever gear they need for their function anyway, you're not having to kit everyone out)
>Who's space you're in (galaxy is controlled by various factions, pick where you're starting)
>General perks/bonuses

I was thinking maybe a foe section, picking who is in charge of tracking you down, or a missions/quests section, but I feel they often make a CYOA feel a bit railroady.

Want to get the writing and image gathering finished this weekend, so I can put it together in photoshop next weekend. Can never be fucked doing anything with it after work.

>>48295591

I figure the CYOA is more of a set up of WHO you are. What you then do is up to your imagination.

If you like the CYOA "ends" with you on the ship, with your fellow escapees, having made your clean get away.

One of the origins is for rebellion/political prisoner, and is left vague so you can decide whether that means you're a terrorist or rebelling for more noble reasons.

Also, while the allies are not divided into categories, they were originally. So there were 5 soldiers, 5 engineers, 5 pilots etc. One categories was "rebels", and was for your guerilla fighters and political dissidents. Lines have blurred a little so they don't fit as neatly into those boxes any more, but there's still a few characters who I'd already written for that section still in the CYOA.
>>
>>48290846
>Communist means a state controlled economy
That's not what Communism means, man. Like, at all.

You're thinking of a Centrally Planned Economy vs. a Free Market Economy. Communist/socialist economies aren't necessarily centrally controlled. The USSR was, but that's not necessary for communism/socialism; Capitalism isn't necessarily free market either. You can have a Market Socialist society, or a Centrally Planned Capitalist society (lots of economist will argue this is what China actually has, for example.)

Other than that, good CYOA.
>>
>>48295624
That doesn't mean they can't still view you whenever they please. As if the security guards just use their camera views for security's sake. Knowing you're alive gives them one less reason, but it doesn't take the power from them.

So, this is still in the middle of a major overhaul, but there are some big changes I would like to hear feedback on if anyone cares to.

First, you have an option at the beginning to choose different "difficulties"; if you choose the easiest difficulty, Uptopia, for example, then it gives you more leeway to add nice things without adding bad things. Apocalypse is the opposite.

Second, each race does not have a bunch of detailed options, though the content remains. Instead, you simply choose whether each race is going to be Friendly, Neutral, Hostile, or Major Threat. That choice alone determines the balance value of the race. Sylvans that are a "Major Threat" are just as dangerous as Dragons that are a "Major Threat", but it may take a very different form. Some suggestions are given, but it's ultimately up to the individual how that threat manifests. I have not "converted" all the races to this new form yet.

Third, the magic system is now dramatically simpflified. Not what I would call "simple", but not the Byzantine mess of the last version. Essentially you select a theme, like "Primary Antagonist" or "Coalition", and that determines how many different magics you get to assign, and to whom. You can still take positive balance in order to get more magic for your race, and things like that. If that is received well, I will do something similar for the "Blessings of the People" section.

The Environmental options are unchanged for now; they don't seem to be a major issue.
>>
>>48295702
I would love to see that exchange.

There is a very big difference between
>I usually base my builds around the same character
and
>I save my builds in a textfile and copy-paste the exact same thing, word for word, any time the cyoa is posted
Most cyoas I play as if I were the one in the situation, so my builds for different cyoas still end up being similar
>tfw angel will never come back
>tfw you will never post your physically powerful demon build that tries to romance the magically powerful angel
>tfw the two of you will never be in a really fucked up relationship where you both try to corrupt the other to join your side

I don't really like this, you made the DLC a lot harder to accommodate this system.

>Races
I liked the old way better, it seemed more detailed and had more flavor to it since each option was adapted to the race.

>Magic system
I think I actually like how you did this since it seems relatively simple and customizable. My one question is if we can make all magics inherent/teachable still and if that'll be a purchase section, because what I'm looking at right now is a paragraph that makes it look like that'll be free-form where you decide yourself how they work, and I want to know if that's how you intend it or if the system just isn't in.

I see where the other anon is coming from but context of the CYOA makes all the difference. As a traveller, agelessness is a given for me and the 'long walk' isn't even out of the question after a few eons wandering the multiverse, so fates worse than death are what would worry me. What would keep me up at night is the kinds of things cosmic horrors could put me through, the crazy, fucked-up situations an infinite multiverse could throw at me, the unknown unknowns that I wouldn't be running from, but heading straight for. Not having a way to reliably track me when I have an idea of what's out there is out of the question. Once every few centuries is fine with me, and I'm sure there's a few things in the multiverse that can be used to occlude the augurs sight. Maybe submit to a psych eval and they'll just have to find you the old fashioned way.

she wasn't even responding to my build, at all. She only saw someone she could bait into talking about herself.
>>48295869
>Supersoldier
I'm talking about the fantasy cyoa, where she's an angel who everyone instantly loves, not supersoldier where she's a nerd who everyone loves and her rival isn't a problem.

I thought it would be cute, in a tsundere sort of way. A demon who she thinks must be "purified", who tries to sabotage her quest for godhood, but secretly likes the angel but it's forbidden love yes I know how bad it is.
>>
>>48295884
>The DLC a lot harder
I don't understand what you mean; could you clarify?

>old way better
Okay; I'm not set on the new form. I'll wait for further feedback and then decide.

>How does this shit work?
Yes, it's intended to be free-form beyond the limitation on the "levels" of magic chosen; the only "limitation" I put on it in there is that you "balance" the manifestation of magic between you and your enemies. If you want to make all the magics across all races teachable, for example, that's perfectly fine.
>>
>>48295925
Oh, okay. That's sounds very efficient. I haven't played that one yet myself, but I heard it was good.
>>
>>48295694
>That doesn't mean they can't still view you whenever they please.
Since it seems you've completely missed the subtext about how miserable it is to be an augur, I will tell you. Yes, hypothetically an Augur could just glare in on you at any time, that doesn't mean they even want to or will. Using their abilities is incredibly strenuous, Alexis is probably the highest functioning sub-augur and she's still two steps away from putting a bullet in her skull at any given point.

>As if the security guards just use their camera views for security's sake.
Unless of course the camera was stuck inside your skull and gave you skull splitting migraines every time you used it. It isn't something that can be used for voyeuristic purposes if that's what your thinking.

>On top of that I opened this up with the idea of just leaving and never interacting with any other traveler.
And you could as stated earlier, if you surrender your Bracer you can leave at any time, but as long as those blades are on your wrist your a part of the Travellers.

Now is there anything else?
>>
>>48295948
>I don't understand what you mean; could you clarify?

>>

>>48296073
Part of that is that I haven't finished expanding on all the races, yet. Once I get to the Giants, however, they will have a "Friendly" option, too. Not all races will; I don't think I'm going to put a Friendly option for the insectoid race, for example.

>>
>>48296132
>Giants
>Not 'human but x'
I don't think you get what I mean here, all the race choices but a few are just humans with small details changed. Most of these are written in a way I could see people getting along with them.

Yet then every race BUT those are written like jerks, and I can't see anyone tolerating them. That's the real shame here, that all the races are so generic and in addition the ones that are outside the normal fantasy PC race paradigm can't coexist. Not that there are many options for those. There's just nothing there if you're not the type who wants your typical fuck elves and kill the bad inhumans scenario.
>>
>>48296022
Because they'll actually know your alive and that you've been seen in the past decade, so why bother dealing with the eyes of the third when you've actually got word from the guy.
>>
>>48296087
I'm not dismissing your opinion, but I honestly don't understand what is lacking, given that you can still achieve literally any manifestation of that race that was available in the previous version.
>>
>>48295764
Is it just me, or do all the races just seem plain better than humans and more deserving of life/dominance? It doesn't really balance out to justify human existence as anything but a lesser race.
>>
>>48296233
You can do that freeform wise, but as far as drawbacks go I prefer those be less freeform. They don't interest me as far as worldbuilding.
>>
>>48296201
I'm more than happy to add additional races, and am very open to suggestions.

And I'll repeat myself a bit to say that the ones that are currently written like "jerks" will have non-jerk options written into them by the time I am finished. Not every race will necessarily have a "Friendly" option, but every one will have a "Neutral" option at the very least.

Male Romanceable

Description:
Nobody knows what world he had come from. Most say he just appeared with a group of travelers who where all shaken to their core. Save for the friendly little lizard like creature who looked over joyed and happy to see everything so solid like the mysterious flying object he came on. The Kobold didn't have a name, he didn't seem to understand how to speak much either. But he learned, he learned fast. Frighteningly so. Many wonder how he managed to remain so cheerful despite the world he came from being so dangerous that several more experienced travelers have fallen prey to its hunger.
A world that had to quite literally be put down like a sick ravenous dog caught cannibalizing another dog. The traveler who found him named him Korbis. As the kobold had feasted on the flesh of a necrotic living planet and its…"life forms" that inhabit it. The Kobold had survived his world becoming such a creature despite every other dweller on it became a twisted hellspawn.

Apprently such a planet was responsible for several worlds disappearing. And the kobold had adapted what was left to his own devices. And thanks to luck being on his side he had managed to garner the attention of some of the more powerful Travellers who could sense the little ones presence and actually took a chance and with a small team managed to rescue him.
Korbis is small [3.5 feet tall] but incredibly strong and hardy. Practically designed to survive such a never ending harsh climate.

>>
>>48296327
>In a way
well, it is straight up better, since other choices have 3-4 free LOCKED skills, while The now has 5 free skills, distribute as you want
>>
>>48296250
My first suggestions would be to have more personable sky and sea races. Those are the two arenas that interest me more, and right now sky only has one choice, who are just elves with wings and asshole vultures (even if they're friendly they're still shithead raiders), and in the sea you just have cthulhu deep ones with all they entail (mostly repugnant culture and lots of rape)

Second thing I'd suggest is to get more crazy with it. A little more creative as to how the races look and function.
>>
>>48296245
I see; that's fair. As said, I'm going to wait a bit more for further feedback. At the moment, though, I honestly prefer the simpler system, and it requires less nitpicking by me over balance issues. The races are balanced by default because they are defined as such. Two hostile races are *defined* to represent the same level of threat.

On the whole, it removes a lot of possibilities of min-maxing, gaming the system, balance headaches, and later revisions, all of which I consider to be a good thing.
>>
>>48296261
I'm sure the Admins have more to worry about than a paranoid traveller.
>>
>>48296111

I've written 65 fucking companions. I will fight you if you try to leave without taking any.

>>48296135

A bit tricky as unless you make a career criminal yourself, most of the characters really aren't. I've been a bit soft, and a lot of the allies aren't hardened criminal types. They've committed crimes, but crimes of passion, spur of the moment type shit. Necessary to be more varied, so everyone isn't just "a career criminal, and also a mechanic" or "a gangster, and also a medic".

A few examples:
Soldier on an isolated planet that has been fighting a gruelling war for centuries to the point where their technology has declined to 20th century standards. Kidnapped visiting diplomats from core worlds to demand access to their technology to break the stalemate.
A master infiltrator who squanders her talents installing spy cameras in the showers of celebrities she likes and selling the images on the spaceinternet.
A Space Idol who pouted and fluttered her eyelashes until a bouncer agreed to beat up a stalker for her, and is now charged with murder by proxy after her heavy beat the guy to death.

They're not exactly the Corleones.
>>
>>48296356
I'm fairly certain that the Judiciary would only care about you if you're a trouble child or if you're acting suspicious.

>inb4 "Nothing to hide, nothing to fear."
>>
>>48296356
Three things to know about the Judiciary.
1) They're few and far between.
2) They focus on threats to the Travellers as a whole and don't care much for the wishes of the factions.
3) If a Judicial member fucks up, they're LITERALLY obligated to kill themselves.

>>48296370
From a mathematical standpoint yes. From a narrative standpoint? I personally disagree.
>>
>>48296391
>I've written 65 fucking companions. I will fight you if you try to leave without taking any.
Is there non-organics among them? I don't like organics aboard my ship, they spread bodily fluids everywhere.
>>
>>48296424
since "The now" also gives complete freedom for narration even there it's better
>>
>>48296453
Perhaps, as said its all in the hands of the writer.
>>
>>48296320
Oh, certainly some of the races are better one-on-one. The Stonefolk, for example, are individually physically superior to humans in most ways. But as a society they are less cooperative and can support a smaller population.

Very similar to the reason the Neanderthals died out, really.

>>48296371
I can confirm there will be a Friendly version of the Sky Skimmers, and a Friendly version of the people of the sea (though the latter will not be compatible with sea monsters).

As for the second thing, I'm not really the most creative person with that kind of thing. I'm more interested in providing a framework for worldbuilding than telling you what the world is. I think defining magical Earth to function in a certain way is too restrictive, which is why I left open the possibility of re-skinning races if you wanted to.

I'm not saying I won't flesh out the species more, but it's not really my strength, so don't expect new and original ideas on that front from me. My mind is just a big soup of absorbed fantasy media that mixes things around and regurgitates races.
>>
>>48296473
>I think defining magical Earth to function in a certain way is too restrictive
Makes sense.
>>
>>48296435

There's an assassin who is a brain in a robot body. His gimmick is that he used to be a master of disguise, blending in, getting near to his target, taking them out, and then disappearing into a crowd. Now he's had to adjust his style as he's stronger, faster and quieter, but sticks out like a sore thumb, which is how he was caught.
>>

Are lower-level upgrades included under the umbrella of "purchased upgrades"? For instance, if I have Genius 2, but only want to grant Genius 1 to my companion, what would be the discounted price? 1/4, or 1/2?
>>
>>48296453
Think of it as the Custom option in the sea of templates. While it gives you the most freedom to create a character, you also have more work to do in order to make the character solid. The templates might not give you much freedom, but they do give some help in terms of backstories.
>>
>>48296501
1/4. So yes, they are included.
>>
>>48296501

And yes I am aware that my example would cost 1 point, either way... I probably should have used Impervious as an example.

Maybe they breed less, take longer to mature, are less aggressive, worse at cooperating etc.
>>
>>48296473
>I can confirm there will be a Friendly version of the Sky Skimmers, and a Friendly version of the people of the sea
That's not what I mean.

The points I made there were:

1. Need more sky and sea races numerically, it's barebones.

2. They're both boring.

3. Friendly or not, they're repugnant, so they're not appealing choices even them.

The most important thing I wanted to express was 1, you could call 2 and 3 opinion though I don't think anyone will ever like Deep Ones as a people.

As for the bit about the second thing, I just don't know what to give you since whatever I'd do personally would be very strange and fantastic and not likely to be liked by others. And as far as defined, I'm not asking for you to tighten up the current races, just present more possibilities to us.

They are nice. I wish she'd show more of them.
>>
>>48296522
Oh, no; I interpret fractional points as follows.

If you buy something that is normally two points at 1/4 price, then it costs 0.5 points. Not 0, not 1, 0.5. This makes a difference, because something else might cost 1.5 points when discounted, so now that's 2 points total.

Now, you still can't go above 110, so 110.5 is over the limit.
>>
>>48296250
add djinn. I love those guys.
>>
>>48295764
where are you at with companions?
>>
>>48296541
Making multiple versions of a flying race is extremely low on my priority list, since you can literally already re-form them into any flying race that you want to. Pick something non-repugnant.

The point is that I give you a description, but all that you're really bound to is the general outline of the race (flying; lives on sky islands), and the threat level chosen.

>>
>>48296571
Companions are not something I ever plan to add, other than the fact that the main CYOA lets you bring in whatever companions you wish to. So... pick any companion, from any CYOA, ever, and pay to import them. Or any fictional character. Or real person; all of these can be imported. There's literally nothing original I could add in that department, and it would just bloat the CYOA as is.

I value and respect the work that people put into quality companions, but it's just simply not something I feel belongs in this CYOA explicitly (again, other than the import option).

You should also feel free to RP whatever companions you want to meet in-world. Add them to a companion slot, or make them a hero, or neither.

>>48296567
Djinn; that's a good idea.
>>
>>48296574
>flying race
They don't have to be. That's like saying all island animals know how to swim, it'd be possible to have island isolate peoples.

>You can literally re-form them
By turning their look, culture, attitude, and abilities into something else entirely? I feel like at that point there's zero reason for me to be playing a CYOa since I'm just doing whatever I want however I want anyway.
>>
>>48296601
Oh but I thought you were adding mentors like Gandalf and stuff?
>>
>>48296391
>'ve written 65 fucking companions. I will fight you if you try to leave without taking a
Not him, but we're going to have a fight then.
>>
Say, can we make an imgur album with Traveler as jpg?
>>
>>48296602
Sure; this DLC may not be for all people. The main CYOA spells things out more classically. I intend the DLC, on the other hand, to be more free-form in using imagination, while still providing enough guidelines to give yourself some level of balance.

One thing I'm not going to be doing, though, is adding a bunch of different varieties of flying creatures. The DLC is very near the maximum length I would like it to be as it is.

What I probably will do is clear up descriptions to distinguish between what are the fixed abilities (for the sky skimmers, essentially that boils down to "flying" in my mind), and what is variable to your sensibilities (what kind of wings they have, for example). It's not that you can change *anything*, but that you can alter them as long as they still fit the same general niche.
>>
>>48296607
Ah; I can see how you could have gotten that impression.

No, i was asking about wise and benevolent companion suggestions for my personal build for the CYOA. The people that my self in the CYOA will be importing.
>>
>>48296652
Though I'll note that I still *am* providing enough description that if people want to just take them as is, they can certainly do so. It's just that they may not like each option in that case, and I can't necessarily help that.
>>
>>48296664
Oookay yeah I got confused. Did you end up posting it?
>>
>>48296610

All the ships are of a decent size and can't be manned by one guy.

Guess I could expand the autopilot add on to cover other ship functions too. At the minute it only handles flying the thing.

>we're going to have a fight then

>>
>>48296697
>>48296626

>>
>>48296706
Cool! I'm gonna make a terrible, shitty build for the main cyoa just to try it.
>>
>>48296652
>>48296671
It's not an either/or thing.

It's not that this DLC 'isn't for me', because I like the premise and most of the choices and such I just feel like the races are far too bland and narrow in scope. I'm criticizing a single element.

I like imagination and all, but I look to CYOAs because they give structure. Otherwise there's no 'building' to it. That's why re-doing the race entirely isn't really appealing, if I'm expected to ignore how they look then they feel hollow, and if I have to even alter their culture to something else entirely, then there's no oversight at all and I'm just left empty handing in regards to world building.

However, if they cannot be changed to such a degree that kind of ties back into what I said earlier about the sky being barebones. Indeed, another way to look at it? You can buy several races to compete on the ground, but the sky and sea are basically dead zones. There's one single race that lives there, nothing playing off of each other, or competing, or creating a varied landscape of beings to interact with and bring the biome to life. Do you know what I mean?

Though desu I don't like how you ignored when I brought up island isolates to restate 'no more flying races' to me.
>>
>>48296602
>>48296652
One thing I probably will do, now that I'm actively thinking about it, is that if anons post particularly unique or interesting takes on the races in builds they post, I'll add those (with their permission) as variant options to the DLC. Many people tend to be much more creative than I can be.
>>
>>48296739
Look, I'm engaging you honestly and openly; if I don't respond to every detail please don't assume it's an insult. In the case of them being on the islands without flying, my thought was "that doesn't make sense, because how are they spreading from island to island", but it wasn't really a thought worth sharing on my part.

Now, you DO raise a good point about "lack of competition". If I can come up with a sufficient distinction between two variants of flying species, I'll try to add in at least one more land, and one more sea, species.
>>
>>48287671
