We've got the Total Warhammer Trilogy, which expands the campaign map, but we're also getting free content updates and DLC within those to fill out the details.

http://wiki.totalwar.com/w/Total_War:_WARHAMMER_Future_Content_Blog

>We’re planning full game follow-ups, DLC content packs and Free-LC to follow the main release. These will include new playable Lords, units, races and more. We’ll talk about these in time, but for now, our focus is on crafting a deep, rich and content-heavy main game.

>Future instalments of the trilogy will expand the world-map, bringing unique new terrain and introducing new playable Lords and their races. We’re planning these to be massive standalone follow-ups to the main game (like ATTILA to ROME II). You’ll be able to get just these and play them on their own if you like or, if you have the main game too, you’ll eventually be able to play across an expanded campaign map that includes all available areas of the Old World.
>>
>>48263826
No, a Russian leak of the game files shown that the two additional games are map expansions with their own unique areas. It seems that the second game will have Lizardmen, High Elves and Dark Elves with naval battles. The third game will have Khorne, Tzeentch, Nurgle and Slaanesh along the Daemons of Chaos.

The other races will be single player expansions in dlc with free dlc alongside each one (except Bretonnia, they will be a free faction).

For the first game, it will be Beastmen, Wood Elves and Bretonnia and maybe Skaven.
>>
>>48263763
That looked strangely unpolished.
>>
>>48263966
They insist on making all of their trailers within the engine of their RTS game, that's why.
>>
>>48263883
That better not be the final map

It's cutting out all the southlands, most of lustria and half the tomb king cities
>>
>>48263920
What about the tomb kings and ogre kingdoms?
>>
>>48263982
Yeah, but even then the Karl Franz, the Orcs and the Chaos ones were a lot more polished than this. It's like they also set details to medium or laid off some post-production.
They always put the "work in progress" disclaimer, but this one actually looks like a WIP. Like not everything has been rendered properly yet.
But seeing as this is an unlisted vid apparently it may be true.
>>
>>48264043
That's the final map of the current vanilla game.
>>
>>48264043
The southlands and most of lustria is empty and useless, as far as I can see all of the Tomb Kings is there though.
>>
>>48264049
DLC somewhere down the line. All armies that had 8th edition rulebooks will be in the game.
>>
>>48263966

Can't say I agree, thought it looked pretty damn cool.

I just find it a shame that the game doesn't play anything like how the trailer shows. I'd like abit more variety in the battle types. Straight up pitched battles got abit boring after awhile.
>>
>>48264049
They will be dlc but which game they will end up in is unknown but I predict it will be the second game. Don't worry though, everyone will make it in (even Chaos Dwarfs).
>>
>>48264106
Chaos dorfs are likely gonna be in the same thing as the ogres. They both live in roughly the same area I think
Oh, and BRETTONIA WHEN?
>>
>>48264096
>All armies that had 8th edition rulebooks will be in the game.
Beastmen never had an 8th ed book.
>>
>>48264081
Honestly it looks a bit like Rasetra and Ka Sabar are cut off and those two cities were important just because they are in constant war with the southlands lizardmen

So putting them in without southlands sucks and so does giving tomb kings the ultimate corner camp that surpasses the shit Orcs have right now
>>
>>48264121
Bretonnia will be free and in the first game. Have to wait for it though but the expanded roster and campaign playability will be kickass.

This game in my opinion is truly Warhammer Fantasy 9th edition.
>>
>>48264121
Brettonia is already like 95% done - some mods have already made it playable just by changing a couple variables in the game's code. It will be released as free content sometime after the beastmen expansion, most likely.

>Warriors of Chaos were a preorder DLC
I will neither forget nor forgive.
I'm keeping my money.
>>
>Alongside the Call of the Beastmen Campaign Pack, another free content update will introduce a brand new Lore of Magic and an accompanying Hero unit for The Empire. Perhaps the most rarely seen of all Wizards, the solitary Amber Wizards are no less powerful than their more prevalent counterparts. Wielding the deadly Lore of Beasts they are able to perform unique feats of magical power, from enchanting their allies with impenetrable pelts to summoning a manticore from the bowels of the earth.

They're honestly one of the less fun factions though

>>
>>48264260
>You can still buy them. And they extended it so anyone who bought the game within the first week got 'em for free.
Yeah, they did that because of the shit storm locking them as preorder DLC as they initially announced had caused.
I'd rather buy games when they're complete. Fuck the cut-out preorder culture.
>>
>>48264337
They were literally never locked as pre-order only dlc, get your head out of your ass and learn the difference between pre-order bonus and pre-order dlc

Plus they literally had to hire an extra full dev team to get chaos in for the pre-order because so many people were demanding it in before the dlc announcement trailer

I think the 3 LL is for the DLC factions, since CA has said they aren't all the comfortable making DLC for their DLC. Their blog about DLC says they will be releasing lord packs, which gives you two new LL, a new unit for the faction, and a unit of renown(IE specific knightly orders).

One of their employees, Darren, streams some. He is a source of a lot of leaks, but he is currently working on the historical title. He still does some work on TWW(he was the one that leaked it will be beastmen because he didn't rename a photo before he posted it to facebook). He said that CA is really confused about DLC right now. During Atilla, they got a lot of flak over releasing DLC so soon after release, but they are getting a lot of flak over waiting. So who knows what they will actually do in the future.

>>
>>48266591
That's the main issue. It's hard as fuck to start up a second horde and if your main one gets offed, you're FUCKED. And it takes FOREVER to fucking get a new horde off the ground. AND it's a pain to trade units cause your armies suffer unremovable attrition when near each other (Which also means no reinforcements)
>>
>>48266577
Shortly before Age of Sigmar stops production
>>
>>48265594
Oh, I thought you meant the OP pic.

Whoops.
>>
>>48267066
It is possible to get reinforcements, but you really need to think a few turns ahead to minimize the time hordes spend next to each other. The general ability that reduces attrition helps.

Horde growth is a bitch, though the real problem is recovery. You're pretty much forced to merge units and buy new ones after every battle if you want a full stack, since the only way to get any decent recovery as Chaos is to camp awakened territory in the north.
>>
>>48264053
If you actually look hard enough, you'll find two videos of the Vampire Counts trailer floating around on youtube, the official one, and a early linked one, and the quality difference is quite notable, so there's a good chance tomorrow when the actual trailer is, you'll see some improvements.

Though personally I really liked the trailer, only bad part was the close up of the Empire generals face showing how his beard was one solid mass and how off that looked.
>>

Even with a mod doubling recovery and letting you encamp after a full move (But not a forced march) it's STILL sometimes better to just merge units and buy new ones.

>>48265013
>>48270842
Beastmen speak Beast-Tongue and the Dark Tongue though generally only the more elite can speak Dark Tongue clearly.

It's called hope and optimism, Anon. Not that you'd know what that is, what with you being dead inside and all.
>>
>>48287160

Nah, it's not hope and optimism, just delusion.

AoS isn't doing as bad as some would like to believe considering the recent Sylvaneth models sold out and I believe the Ironjawz experienced something similar before them. I doubt it's simply because they didn't print many either.

Seems like Total Warhammer wasn't that great for model sales either considering that GW dropped trying to sell people models from the game after all of around two weeks. Though I suppose people will try to claim that if they had the original names they'd magically sell better.
>>
>>48287259
It might just be that the models they're showing don't fit their new catalog either.

Hard to sell AoS minis in a game that isn't showing off AoS.
>>
>>48287259
>Nah, it's not hope and optimism, just delusion.

See, this is why you are dead inside.

If we were on a sinking ship and someone was saying 'A boat will come and save us' and you're going around saying 'Nope. We are all going to drown. Or, if you're lucky, freeze to death.' then you are clearly already dead inside.
>>
>>48287259

I wasn't talking about the game selling models for AoS, I was talking about how Total Warhammer was supposedly going to draw tons of people in and single-handedly revive Fantasy. Guess that didn't happen because, surprise surprise, they already paid $60 for a better version of Fantasy.

>>48287288

You're under the assumption that I really give a damn about Fantasy coming back, I don't. I don't necessarily care about AoS surviving either, but I will point at when it isn't realistic.

It's honestly even really hard to feel bad for the Fantasy people since for every one person that shares a story you can empathize with, there are five others online still showing themselves to be salty as fuck a year later and seemingly trying to sustain themselves on being critical of AoS in piss poor ways instead of devoting that time to something more productive or enjoyable.
>>
>>48287624
>Guess that didn't happen because
Because there was no Warhammer Fantasy model range to buy? The very few models advertised alongside the game (Freeguild General or whatever they called Karl Franz) sold out and were 'technically' Age of Sigmar models anyway so their sale got lumped in with that.
>>
>>48287655

The Empire range barely got touched, the only thing missing being the Reiksguard and the special characters which couldn't be turned into generics.

Dwarfs again were for the most part untouched, losing a few more units than the Empire and their special characters.

Vampire Counts lost nothing

Orcs and Goblins don't appear to have lost much off the top of my head, mostly special characters.

Warriors of Chaos is pretty much intact, losing the Forsaken and maybe some special characters.

If someone wanted to build a Fantasy army for any of those races the parts are all very much there, just split up over AoS factions.

That they'd possibly be lumped under AoS sales doesn't really matter and actually ignores that GW selected at least nine models to be tagged with the Total Warhammer line. If thise specific set of products sold in great numbers than I'm sure someone at GW would have taken notice and not merely filed it under AoS.

As I've stated, according to various proponents Total Warhammer was supposedly going to bring droves of people to Fantasy and make GW regret scrapping it. From the results it doesn't look like that happened at all. Yeah, Fantasy technically being dead probably played a part, but there are still people playing 8th Edition, 9th Edition, KoW, and other spinoffs.

Basically it boils down to the fact that Fantasy as is was a bloated beast that was never going to attract new players when it felt and looked like you had to make a commitment and couldn't just dabble. Total Warhammer further made the game unappealing with its convenience. For $60 you've already gotten four or five armies of untold size with the models all prettied up and mods available to change them, gameplay equal to or better than what the tabletop offered, and the ability to play multiplayer 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. No game store, game club, game table, terrain, etc, required.
>>
>>48287774
I google Warhammer Fantasy what do I see? A dead setting and something called Age of Sigmar. Nothing has the names I'm familiar with, nothing is like the game I just played.

I shrug, I give up, I go back to the game.

The fact is GW only marketed about five specific models alongside the game, and they weren't advertised under the in-game names. That's going to have an effect on curious people. Even if these models do sell, they are part of the Age of Sigmar range under GWs definition, and their sales will be gathered into that and called 'Sales for Age of Sigmar', not Warhammer Fantasy.

You are being disingenuous.

Of course about half of those had different names, but considering that the in game models were largely based on the actual models, a smart person should be able to put 2 and 2 together.

Why? Because I'm giving decent evidence that Total Warhammer was a failure in reviving Fantasy as a miniature game?

That was the last great hope for many and by now they've probably accepted that they're stuck with 8th, one of the fan editions or KoW, and Total Warhammer and its sequels.

Daemons ARE Chaos
Mortals give themselves to Chaos.
Beastmen are the children of Chaos.
They actually have a much deeper understanding of Chaos than most mortal followers. They are not as easily awarded as mortals, as they have now free soul to wager with, but they can still earn the favour of the goods. They are alot more likely to go undivided though.

no.
The three canon ways for beastman reproduction are:
1) The normal way, just with beastmen
2) Being mutated in one way or another
3) Mutant birth from human parents.

This.

Beasts are about destruction, ruination, corruption an despoiling all.

All that is made, be it society, structures or anything, all must be destroyed.

They could reproduce with humans but that would be expected of them, instead they'll do it to one a girl and let her be found and brought toa safe city or castle, only to have the fetus tear its way out and slaughter the kindly family, unbar the gates and let his kin inside.

Warhammer is a sausagefest, being about war and all that it's easier to find husbandos than waifus as the characteristics for the first intersect better with the setting than the second's; crazy warlike waifus are not as good as crazy warlike husbandos, but if you're into that the dark elves offer morathi and hellebrone, the trees drycha and other dryads, chaos has daemonettes and Valkya.

Anyway, we could have the Tzarina, Elspeth, the few good elves (alarielle, the sisters of twilight and random rank and file anons), undead still have to offer khalida, Isabella and Neferata.

But in the end the waifus (or daughterus) will come from where you don't expect them

Humans generally don't use women in wars so it makes sense for Empire to not have many girl heroes. Southern nations do have shitloads of priestesses though since the Christianity equivalent in Warhammer is a religion with a goddess and mainly female clergy. And Empire has Sisters of Sigmar just to name the few.

Wizards should definitely have female models though. Just like there should be female vampire lords. And male vampires.

Player should be allowed to decide what he's fielding, not be forced to field bald dudes.
>>

Word is that it was explicit in early editions (Pre-WFRPG 1e), but they toned it down over time. They like quadrupled their profits thanks to those movies, and that's one of the main reasons their sales have come back down since the trilogy ended.

LotR was basically as big as X-Wing is now, for similar reasons.

So while CA claims that the leaks about the DLC were old plans, it seems like it is still pretty accurate.

So I'm guessing Wood Elves are next up for a paid DLC race.

Anything in particular you guys want to see?

Personally all I want to see is Durthu as a Legendary Lord, since having another massive Lord like Kholek would be fun.

Though I wish they would fix the animations for them. As fun as it is seeing them smash blobs Sauron style. Seeing the lords just playing hopscotch with each other when they are fighting is a bit dull. I'd like to see some dueling animations when it is just hero/lord units, or at least unique animations should large units like Kholek or Durthu fight one another or something.

Basically all I want is something akin sync-kills in this game and I'd be happy for life
>>
>>48293962
Each race is characterised for having one melee/leadership Legendary Lord and one magic Legendary Lord, except for the dwarfs. With one always being the race leader.

So that's Orion confirmed, and then I'm guessing Ariel as the second one.

Having a big guy like Durthu would be cool too, although I imagine he'd be easy to mod in, since he's basically like the other treemen afaik.
>>
>>48293962
>So I'm guessing Wood Elves are next up for a paid DLC race.
Seeing ad WE vs Beastmen is one of the big things for both, it'd fit.
>>
>>48293962
>Basically all I want is something akin sync-kills in this game and I'd be happy for life
it was the primary reason that gave idiots the reason to spam the memes of fake mass in warscape.
>>
>>48294119
Dont giant monsters get really cool sync kills?
>>
>>48294013
Yeah that makes sense, though I thought they might do some variations since the Chaos DLC had a trio that were all rather melee focused.

But Orion and Ariel were already my safe bets for who their Legendary Lords would be.

But if they wanted to go for another monstrous type of Lord I guess Drycha is also an option. Especially considering she got a model update recently (though that was for AoS so I doubt they would use her personally).

>>48293691
>>48293780
I think they are going to stick with AoS simply because they already went out of their way to do the End Times scenerio with Fantasy.

If I recall correctly though Fantasy wasn't even selling all that poorly. Just one idiot Exec apparently thought because it wasn't getting 40k numbers, that they should wipe the slate. Resulting in a game selling worse than the setting they killed off.

Not quite sure if this is actually accurate. But looking at the recent financial reports for GW, at the very least AoS isn't selling like they are hoping it would.

>>
>>48294132
Kind of? They have kill animations when they are fighting the small units, however nothing when they are fighting something their own size which is a bit disappointing.

Like seeing a Giant bite a person's head off is cool and all. But it would be neat if it ripped of a n Arachnarok's leg or something along those lines.

>>48294119
Not quite sure what you're speaking of, but what exactly is wrong with the Warscape engine?

I honestly don't know much about the engine CA's using aside from hearing it being outdated or something.
>>
>>48294180
They made a profit, but it didn't meet the projections they made previously. The income they are getting from licenses is raking in quite a bit, however as you said AoS is doing quite poorly. The major income for that series seems to be the supplementary games they are releasing rather than the main kits.

>>48294157

TW games since Shogun 2 had matched combat, where two models from each unit would fight each other, complete with animations. A lot of people complained about these, made it look like there was no unit mass and it was a system hog. It would be really hard to do the same thing for TWW because of all the different skeletons they use. Something a studio their size don't have the resources to do.
>>
>>48293962
I'm fine with the animations they have now, but if they updated the game so that Lords had Shogun 2 like animations when fighting one another, that would be pretty cool.

Though I don't think they would be able to mocap that practically, so I doubt it would happen.

The steam page has been updated with info about Lords and their mounts:

STEAM PAGE IS UPDATED

>Lords
>Warherds are commanded by Beastlords, the braying, stomping masters of their kind. Along with Campaign, Battle and Melee skill-trees unique to The Beastmen race, Beastlords also have a number of unique skill unlocks improving their melee attack, melee defence, leadership, weapon strength and missile resistance statistics, making them exceedingly powerful warriors as well as great leaders. Beastlords may also be mounted on Razorgor Chariots from rank 15 onwards.

I was hoping they'd be allowed to ride the Chariots, having a smug beastlord roll through the masses of Ungors before the big charge appeals to me for some reason.

>>48295999
>no Krell.
Why must you continue to rub it in.

Might as well have made franz without his griffon or Archaon without his pony.
>>
>>48288174

Because GW dropped the promotion after all of around two weeks. If it was something that was proving popular they would have at the least kept it around and possibly added more models under the tag.

It didn't lead to any great revival of the game itself either as I've said multiple times, despite there still being a decent number of people playing it. At most the games introduced people to the setting and they went out and bought some BL books.

>>48288186

Bloodbowl and the LotR/Hobbit have both managed to survive and continue to play despite support officially being cutoff, likely along with a few other popular specialist games.

As I just said, people still play Fantasy but it being bigger than the aforementioned has made it harder for a cohesive whole to form and easier for it to fracture. You have some people playing 8th Edition or older editions, some playing 9th Age or fan editions, and others playing KoW.

>>48293625

By selling a lot and making people flood into GW stores asking where they can buy Fantasy stuff, or so went the argument of people who didn't understand that you're not going to turn video game players into wargamers.

https://warisboring.com/total-war-warhammer-freed-me-from-the-tyranny-of-miniatures-ba88e2cd48a2

This is a pretty good example of the obstacles such people either ignored or didn't think of as such because they enjoyed them and surely people can't have different tastes.
>>
>>48296016
theres mods for it online.
>>
>>48295999
This makes no sense though. Kemmler can be fielded without Krell, made himself infamous without the wight, and is functional on his own. Isabella is basically joined to Vlad's hip and sucks on her own. At no point was she even operating on her own outside of End Times.

>>48294145

>If I recall correctly though Fantasy wasn't even selling all that poorly. Just one idiot Exec apparently thought because it wasn't getting 40k numbers, that they should wipe the slate.

It wasn't doing that great either. In the US alone it went from being the fourth best selling miniature game in independent stores to falling off the top five within a year, not even End Times Nagash managing to boost sales. At the same time 40k continued to reign as number until after the release of the Force Awaken when it was knocked down to number 2 by X-Wing.

8th Edition Fantasy was built with an arguably clunky ruleset for a niche group of people. All the while it's competition was ever working to streamline its rules and make their games approachable to newcomers.

Even now 40k is suffering from the same rules problems and has probably only managed to cling on because it was bigger than Fantasy, has gradually added new stuff instead of just rehashing the same armies and lore, and has model and army building requirements that while not as friendly as others games, are not as unfriendly as Fantasy's.
