Depending on how comfortable you are with fanwanking it, if you take Forgotten Realms afterwards, you can choose one where magic-psionics transparency is a thing, because that's not from a setting supplement, and have your powers count them as the same basic power to learn psychic powers in the same way.

I've got so very many. I'm not perfect, for all my power and abilities and experience. Thankfully, I take an optimistic look and see these embarrassments as a chance to better myself.

Hey guys, I have the purified section complete (for now). This will be 0.5. the next WIP will include the Skinchanger perks, following that the slasher perks, and following that new items and disadvantages. Once I have all those I will create a 0.9 with notes based on all the comments and citicisms of the thread and it will remain 0.9 until I feel we have reached a decent concensus on various rulings for this jump.

I'd recommend "compressing" some of the perk lines -- you may have gone a little to deep. In Purified, for example, there are three separate warding perks: Ward Against Supernatural Beings, Ward Against the Living. I'd recommend instead to have a general perk that encompasses all of these things and just up the price. Alternatively, you could have a global perk capstone: something like "Exemplar" or "Grizzled" that increases proficiency or power and clarify its purpose in the notes section. This would make the jump much easier to read, I feel.

If you do neither, however, I would like to note that the organization of Occult perks could be improved -- maybe section them by cost? Or you can have subsections based on perk function, as you seem to have already done; just making them clearer would help immensely.

For the record: This was technically a joint project between myself and Elodie, of which I have no conceivable use for in my paradigm of preference. It was towards the end of my first career, and only happened after a lot of arguments over hope and despair as rival energy sources, which she used as an attempt to prove me wrong. As far as I'm concerned this is HER work and I was mainly involved only as an advisor and er, raw materials.

Heck, the only reason I deployed in Mage the Awakening was because frankly, the Exarchs were too big a threat to deal with otherwise; they were misusing tyranny and oppresion to slowly destroy the world instead of preserve it, and since I couldn't combat them on my own terms I was FORCED to deploy a perfect counter to their system.

And now I'm stuck with a lot of self-loathing and a bunch of clarktech crystals I have absolutely no goddamn use for, other than as a sink for the reserves of EVO I've never spent.

Which brings me to a question-have you guys ever come up with a combo, only to never use it for anything?

I'm a Calorman prince, looking to dodge his arranged marriage. The land of eternal winter up north sounds like a good place to hide. Besides, there's a prophecy about sons of Adam and daughters of Eve being its rightful rulers. Sounds like that's probably referring to us! Two "sons" of Adam? Why, just look at the Serkets' god-tier clothes. Clearly it meant two "suns" of Adam. Only four thrones? That's so that we can sit in each others' laps. God I love how gullible these people are. This is easily the best drawback I've ever taken.

Anyway, we utterly decimated Jadis's army and Befriended her before the Percivels ever even made it to Narnia. Jadis agrees to atone for her evil ways by serving as the royal cook, and making me tons of sweet, sweet Turkish Delight. Then we can begin conquering the rest of the world. Aslan never did wind up having to sacrifice his life. (You're welcome, Jesus!)

I've also finally got a way to make the rest of the trolls immortal. Fruit that gives literal immortality is really important especially if I could learn to reproduce it... but I don't want to risk having some of my best friends (and one of my wives) stay mortal. So I have the trolls eat the apples right away. Not the best idea in the long run, but it's been 400 years. They deserve it.

Well that combo is certainly interesting. A little above my head, but an interesting read nonetheless. I wonder if it could be modified to generate love for the ultimate Black Mage Hadoken.

As for my own combos, I tend to combine technologies instead perks, so I'm not that interesting on that front. But I /do/ tend to create a lot of useless devices.

The current holder for most useless is the Memory Gauntlet I created. I'll keep the rundown brief.

+ Start with an Invader Zim PAK. Strip out the memory & personality back-up circuitry.
+ Replace the storage chips with a GUNNM Brain Bio-Chip to allow it to compensate for various types of brain pattern.
+ Permanently enchant the fingers with a Memory Reading spell. You can use whichever one you want. This is to make the process much less painful. Otherwise you have to bore into the subject's nervous system with mechanical tentacles.

That's pretty much it. This whole device fits into a device about the size of a standard iron gauntlet. It allows you to read a person's entire memory in only a few moments and keep a copy of it for later use. I had initially designed it to allow me to resurrect companions that died without a way for me to revive them directly. But then one of my companions reminded me that the device is basically useless when compared to literally any magic ever.

I believe I response was a little along the lines of "Well, your face is stupid!" before I tossed the thing on a shelf.

Psychic powers can eventually develop into others that have that power as a prerequisite with incredible willpower and practice.

Purified Siddhi can be developed along the path with matching prerequisites but it takes a while.

Thaumaturgy rituals can be learned easier, but not just through practice and study. They must be discovered.

Skin thief aspects cannot be learned.

Slasher's cannot learn new ripper abilities through training, and only the ripper abilites they have may evolve into scourge abilities. Other Ripper powers can be learned.

The only issue with human transmutation is the soul, if you don't fuck with that you will be fine. There is a lot of alchemy done that messes with human flesh and alkahestry specializes in medical transmutations, with sufficient research you should be able to mimic human flesh for consumption.

You'll need a list of the components to make a human body. And not Ed's, it's garbage, he's off by a fair clip on a lot of fronts. You'll need to actually do research to find out what's actually in a human body.

But, after you do that, yeah, you should be able to do it.

Alright guys, might as well tear the band-aid off right now.

As an announcement on the Worm jump, while I didn't want to go into in-depth rebalancing and tweaking so people wouldn't have to reconsider builds and potentially portions of their chain around changes to the powers, all the feedback I've gotten has pretty clearly indicated that it needs to be done if the jumps going to be made better than it is. There's been a ton of good points about adjusting things to better represent the setting and the nature of powers.

Power growth is still going to remain, fueled by conflict and experience with the power, so you can in fact reach the same heights. In addition they are still going to be balanced around the idea of being on the same level as top-tier parahumans like Lung, Sundancer, etc.

I'm going to be frank, I didn't want to since people were really attached to the powers as is, but even when I was just going to fix the few problem children powers and clarify the ones that people had a ton of confusion over I still had a great deal of people screaming that I was nerfing everything. Combined with the only actually good feedback I got back pointing to me needing to do this, I've run out of excuses to avoid doing so.

For those of you who are inevitably going to disagree you're free to state your case, but as is I'm convinced it needs to be done to improve the jump. With that being said, I'm not going to engage people who are only yelling. You have my word that I'm going to read every post made in response and consider it's points, but trying to engage everyone has only led to a lot of bait biting on my part.

I apologize if I don't respond to every post made, but it's hard to gauge tone and trying to give people the benefit of the doubt hasn't worked well so far. I've accepted that I'm not going to make everybody happy.

Keep in mind Wildbow plays to the fact that the powers are basically never a benefit for their hosts, natural triggers are held back by the powers constantly relating to their trigger event and Cauldron triggers get changed physically 90% of the time. Powers in jump are a straight buff when in Worm they're horrible to have. They skew your thought patterns, if they don't like you they'll actively try to kill you, they force you to fight even if you don't want to. You become a puppet in Scion's game, basically.

Have you read any of Wildbow's Weaver Dice campaign? It gives a good insight on how parahumans other than Skitter deal with their powers.

The last thread I posted in where I asked for critique on the jump and whatnot had several people making points about the powers needing to better represent the setting, and against the blanket removal of the Manton limit post-jump. It quickly spiralled into a lot of salt but it was there.

Plus I have a massive document of notes and statements that tons of people have made ever since the jump was released, notes I made based on observations people have made, etc.

There's a lot of points to the powers having not been handled as well as they should. It's usually less a direct nerf and more tweaking certain aspects of the power, and as I said before, clarifying.

Changer is the biggest problem child and the entire section is basically the poster child of the issue. Vague and open ended powers that leave a whole lot of slack. Imaginary form is being turned into basically Genesis's power for example, and Quantum Evolution at least losing teh bit where it preemptively evolves before things happen.

Only change to the perks was making it so Best in the Business didn't turn millions of employees into super-competent Batmen. It's most pronounced on those you directly oversee and work with, and has a lesser effect on the rest of the organization based on proximity. Spanners getting a bit of a tweak but other than that perks are the same, RE is also left alone capability wise but I need to give it a better description.

Worm's never been a person to put arbitrary limits on stuff, and how does them needing to wait to get to the exact same thing as they were before make the upper end more vague? They could grow before too, and we actually know what some of the progression could look like now compared to before which would clear things up on what their potential is like.

Now instead of just having B and not knowing where to go from there, we start with A and can compare A and B and think about what C or D would look like in the future by seeing how A turned into B.

Only one person supported the Manton Limit. Everyone else was saying that they thought it was a bad idea and came out against it, even when they were saying they might accept a nerf.

Most people don't care about how the powers compare to other powers in the setting, because we don't necessarily want the canon shards or whatever.

It doesn't matter how 'representative' it is as long as they scale to the typical power level of the setting, considering how varied the powers are in setting anyway.

I'm astonished that you think this is acceptable at this point, and have at this point, finally lost all faith in you. All I can do is ask that you see reason and reconsider.

The Net Terminal Genes, how much authority do they give in jump? Can I walk up to a Safeguard and order then to stop being genocidal maniacs and be my bodyguard?

The Recompilation (Builder) program, does it give me Net Genes? It says "May Open Up the Net Sphere to you" but anyone can do that already, it's just the safeguard try to kill you without authorization.

And to clarify, they are still going to be GREAT, it's just a few powers are basically "Canon power X but with Y additional advantages" and others are a bit too open ended to really feel like Worm powers.

Remember, Lung, Sundancer, Ballistic, Narwhal, Dragon, Purity, these are the canon capes I'm using as a benchmark. You are NOT being made weak. I fucked up how I handled some of the powers when I first did the jump, and if I'm going to add new ones I need to fix that.

Powers in Worm are supposed to be unique, what we have now is 'you get a copy of X's shard' while in universe, well, take Taylor for an example. A lonely, sort of weird girl who feels like her life is out of her control gets shoved in a locker full of used tampons or whatever. Her power:

A custom power section will just be a limited set of blocks you can build a limited set of things out of, all of them more generic by their nature of being made of building blocks instead of out of one piece, and the variety will cripple any ability to fluff them or make them interesting or explain how it works.
