Human Male, Familiar Face:(-10points), 17
Beacon Academy, Vale
Semblance: Ghost. I will be the scary man in the dark, from /k/ with love.
Gifts/Talents: Memory(-20), Strength(-20), Agility(-20), Intelligence(-10), Energy(-20).
Weapons: Melee will be a two handed meat cleaver with Collapsible, and the second will be a variable Shotgun and Assault riffle combo that can use dust charges (Total cost for both 500)
Items & Gear: Scroll(free), Parachute and Grappling Hook(-150) cant be too paranoid, Targeting Glasses(-150) I can only see so far to make a good shot, Wilderness Gear(-50), Dust Charges(-50) for some extra ammo till I get some steady supply.
My job is to hunt down the enemy, then proceed to butcher them. Range weapon is for softening up big targets before I can use the grappling hook to drag the target to me or vice versa. With the raised in world thing going on and my forth wall knowledge I can preemptively stalk out some info on the enemy and give the main cast tip offs early when it counts, primary goal is to make sure gladiator chick doesn't die and to make sure she doesn't get a reversed Yoko thing happen to her this go around.

We forgot the most important part:
The names.
The first letter of our four names must spell something that has to do with a color, or makes you think of a color.
And your name has to have something to do with a color
I THINK the leader's initial spells the first letter of the team name, but I'm not sure.
>>
>>48213958
>The first letter of our four names must spell something that has to do with a color
what I tried to say was
>We each have a name
>take the initial of each first name
>leader's is the first
>spell something that makes you think of a color
>this is the team name
Like RWBY = Ruby = red
>>
>>48213916
I am planning on switching the Shotgun/Assault to Assault/Sniper combo.

History: New Arrival
Age&Gender: 18 Human Male
Location: Beacon
Semblance: Force of Nature - Gravity.
Gifts:Ferocity(90), Will(80), Energy(60), Fear(50), Intelligence(40), Agility (20)
Talents:Tactics (0)
Weapons: Variable Halberd/Shotgun(600), Collapsible(550), Dust Mod(500), Additonal Weapon Form - Short Sword (400)
Gear: Armor (300), Targeting Glasses (150), Rebreather (100), Dust Charges x2 (0)

I chose Beacon Academy because the location seems pretty nice, forests are way better than arctic and deserts.
Warm person to teammates, rude to strangers, only cares about opinions from people he values. Despite this, wears targeting glasses and armored clothes mostly for looks.
Combat- utilizing gravity I would try to speed up allies, slow and stop enemies. When I would get more proficient with the power I would use it for transportation and aggressively.
My goal is mostly an easy going everyday life while improving my abilities.
There, redone gravity build so it looks nice.

Should satisfy the people upset about the nerfing to Impervious and Temperature Tolerance. Now four levels, including zero, the first of which was free (because *everyone* was taking the first level, and its pointless to have an option that everyone pays for)

Anyway, I think that the balance struck works for me.

Quest: Sustainability

I'll start out as a patrician in Ancient Rome and then move to England maybe a century or two before it's time to join the original settlers in their journey to America. Hopefully, my companion will be my original waifu from my time as a Roman Patrician, but who knows what'll happen over the course of the centuries? Mostly I just want to experience the birth of western civilization, and aide in the creation of our country (with the Book of Knowledge and other mental gifts I'm pretty sure the USA will be #1 long before WW2).

As for my quest, I'm 99% certain that I will fail to get anywhere close to accomplishing it. No matter how much time I have, a world-wide utopia is beyond any one person. That said, there's no penalty for taking it and failing so why the hell not.

The format of a CYOA is nigh-inconsequential to me; it's akin to asking me "Can a CYOA be too long?" Considering I made it through Traveller's Tale with ease and most people don't have Highlander's drive to create when it's just going to be a bunch of images on the internet, no, it can't be too long.

So no, I wouldn't dislike something just because it's a bunch of words and no images to depict them. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't dislike it based on the content, of course.
>>

Does waifu genie grant any additional wishes? She's probably immortal, maybe she'd like companionship.
>>
>>48215385

>>48215511
But you forget you've made that wish once you make it. By the time you realize that you'll never die of old age, you'll be too old to do it right. You might get lucky with life support or some shit, but you probably won't be able to commit suicide.
>>
>>48215285
>>48215179
Not Highlander, but you probably have a subscription you can fill when you're running low. No idea how many you get at a time though.

Sapience-wise, maybe equivalent of a 3-year-old is the cut-off. It's a big multiverse out there so there's gotta be a non-sapient psychic monster out there.
>>
>>48214781
Chose "you" because I felt that worst comes to worst she makes me her or something weird, and I could always just kill myself. I would do "World peace" if I trusted her.
>>48215250
Hey not bad, I get a chance to have a waifu, and I don't have to deal with "her" being some kind of freak
>>
>>48215250
At the time, I'd been playing for time as my brain tried to get over the shock of 'magic' and formulate a wish. When I'd hesitated, she'd taken the fragment as the entire wish evidently, and that was how I discovered that despite her red skin, she could still blush fetchingly.

I decided not to join her in the shower. I needed some time to think, and the distraction of a wet woman would do me no favors.

So instead I cooked. I'd set out some frozen pork to defrost in the morning, and I fried up some onions and pea pods to go with it. As an afterthought I boiled up some rice to stretch out a bachelors' supplies for two people.

When I started to sear the meat, she wandered out of the bathroom, and I stared, uncomprehending.

"What?" She glanced down at her t-shirt and skirt, brushing them down with an idle motion. "I'm pretty sure I got them right."

"So you magicked them up then?" I settled on asking before flipping the meat.

"Yep. I like the current fashion, much more liberal than I remember." She did a quick spin, flaring up the edge of her skirt. "Much lighter materials as well."

"...Were you aware in there then? You mentioned centuries, but you knew how to operate a computer. And knew what a cartoon is. And speak modern English." I paused, considering my next words, and she did me the courtesy of waiting for me to sort my thoughts. "A 'mortal' would go mad."

She laughed, nervously. "Right, was hoping you wouldn't catch onto that." She fidgeted. At length. I decided to repay her the time to think she had given me just a moment ago while I moved the meat into the oven to finish cooking. "I looked out the window and saw... the city. I may have panicked just a touch. So I contracted with you." By now I was facing her again. She seemed very small, just then. "A Jinn and a magician share a bond, and I used that bond for information. When you demanded a wish- that was probably you touching that bond. Strange horned woman in your room and you don't call for help? No, you knew we had a 'deal.' But then, you, uh. You said enough that I thought you were sealing the contract as ongoing." She looked at me, hopefully.

I licked my lips. "I'm a magician?"

She rolled her eyes. "All of that and you took awa- oh, right, magic is fiction to you." She braced an arm against the other to press her fist to her chin. "Huh. The real point is... you and me, we have a thing now. So here's the trick."

She pointed at me. "Human: Full of power. Shit at everything else to do with magic." She pointed at herself. "Jinn: Shit at power. Awesome at everything else." She twirled her finger in a circle to indicate the two of us. "Contracted pair: pretty awesome." She caught my skepticism, either from my face or the poorly described bond. "Why do you think I was stuck in a bottle if I had Infinite Cosmic Power all on my own?" She blinked. "And oh wow I am going to have to educate you because Robin Williams is not representative of what we've got going."

I blinked. Then tentatively thought lewd things and watched her face, only to get no reaction. Either she was better than I gave her credit, or she wasn't reading my mind, instead drawing on skills and memories on an as need basis? Nope, still pretty intimidating. "Okay. I need to have food. And sleep. Before I can really deal with any of this."

"...Can we share the bed?"

It says you're forced to forget everything about making the wish, what happened to you, or what the consequences of your wish are. So an interpretation of that could lead to you forgetting you were ever anything but a little girl.

Also you're going out on the street to get raped or into an orphanage to get raped. Your life is going to be shit and you'll end up in a trailer on the dole.

New apartment. A chance to start over again, that's all I wanted. No carrying groceries up four flights of stairs. Nobody partying late into the night above my head. Going to sleep without hearing my horndog neighbors through the walls. In fact, I was pretty much the only guy in the the new place. I didn't realize people were still so superstitious in the 21st century that a Scooby-Doo ghost story would trick them out of a new start. Of course, it ended up being more Twilight Zone.
I'd fallen asleep at my chair apparently. Moving will do that to you. But as I rubbed sleep out of my eyes my glasses weren't there. I assumed they'd fallen into my lap. They had. I need new glasses. Pick them up and put them over my ears. They fall down again. I really need new glasses. Need coffee too. Need to see to make coffee. I groggily move my hands around but I can't find my glasses. Luckily, I'm a freaking hoarder and my first pair of glasses from the fifth grade were cluttering up my desk with a whole lot of other junk from the move. I only started to panic when I put them on.
They fit. Perfectly. And as I drew my hand back I really started to wake up.
Gone was the grunge of fur, the nervously chewed nails, the innumerable paper cuts acquired by a man who spent all his time reading. Slender-fingered , delicate pale softness was all I could see. I could have held this hand in my own. In fact, I'd longed to, although I'd never admit as much in court.
Maybe I was still dreaming. But my nightmares were always worse than this. Maybe it was just a trick of the light, pouring cold and white from my monitor. But my other screen had fallen asleep a little while after me, and now I could see my reflection in it.
>>
>>48216298
(2/3)
As I'm sure you can imagine at this point I've thought long and well about what it would be like to have a little sister. The girl in that screen, her eyes blinking as mine did, was a perfect match. Brown curls scraping the curve of her neck, glasses the same blue as her eyes resting on her little nose, red lips bursting with youth, opening in shock, then covered by the same hand I'd seen before. And as she did so I felt my own lips being brushed.
As they grow older, most men become what they hate. I'd become what I loved.
The details of the rapturous hours that followed in front of the mirror I'd been to lazy to put on the wall are of no interest to you, I'm sure. Have no fear, I will spare them. Just know that they were the world to me. How long had I wanted to touch a girl like this? Not only was a life's worth of lust fulfilled, but I could feel every caress myself. I was Adam and I was Eve and it was Eden.
Dear reader, I hope that if you do not heed this warning you have online employment as I did. I'd been a loner my whole life, and I was able to shut myself in with my writing for a few months. My editors were pleased; apparently my joy seeped into my words. Eventually though, the situation became strained. Delivery pizza three meals a day is no good for a growing girl. But more than that, something was real. I don't know if it was magic or ghosts or aliens, or if I'm lying on a hospital bed somewhere and this is all just my last few moments of imagination. But the world isn't how we think it is. That's bigger than anything I've ever wanted.
>>
>>48216317
(3/3)
In years past, people would ask me to write stories. Often, stories just like what happened to me. A surprising number of these people are high up in the world. And even more are very, very low down. A new identity was starting small. One of my old clients once asked me to write whatever I could come up with for him. When I asked him why he said I wouldn't believe him, and when I asked him again he told me he was looking for inspiration for a spell. I was weirded out but I'd already written him a story about a little girl who wanted to be young forever, and he said that was perfect. He was right, at the time I didn't believe him. But now I do, and he believes my story too.
If you fail to heed my warning and stay here, fair reader, there's an address in Wales written down below. That's where I'm heading now, and there's a home there for you too if something happens. I can't guarantee it'll be safe, I don't know what I'm getting into either. Maybe he's just crazy. Maybe this is all some kind of trap. But if you watch the news and see a magical girl saving the world, just like the cartoons that got me into this whole mess, well, I guess it all worked out.

Okay, but in all the other wishes, it's assumed that you won't forget anything other than specified.

It'd make more sense to interpret it as you (from your perspective) suddenly waking up as a little girl for no discernible reason.

Ironically I picked the genie for my wish so I'm good. But I wouldn't force her into anything, I'd be ok, with her being my friend. A genie friend would be cool.

>incredible power

The weakness isn't so bad if I wear a suit. Also, a "quite useless" power isn't really an incredible power. Random power from superpower wikia:

>Reflection Manipulation
User can create, shape and manipulate reflections, by controlling and/or using mirrors and/or reflecting surfaces that can be used to reflect/redirect attacks. Users can turn the reflections into real objects/beings, turn mirrors and reflections into prisons, storage-places or dimensions of their own use, manipulate space inside reflections, and so on.

No point in becoming a villain or hero, I'd just work with researchers to study the power. Maybe trap nuclear waste inside a mirror dimension. clone precious metals. Depending on the interpretation this power is either useful or godlike.

It's the attached. Currently very much a WIP, it's about expanding the magical elements in the world. The attached has much more than the last one, but still a lot to do.

>>48216443
Supporting Cast works like this.

1. Make your build, including companions, normally, including the extra points from Supporting Cast. Do this with the knowledge that you will be "switching" powers with one of your companions.

2. Pick one companions who has NO powers that you do not also have. Then, switch all powers with them. They are now the "boss", and count as the main character for the purposes of quest goals and such, with the caveat that if a quest is completed you BOTH get the rewards.

Being their second means that they will look to you as being "first among equals" when it comes to the followers. They are the leader, but you are the one they trust the most after themselves.

Technically they would get the books and the pocket dimension, but both things are designed to be shared with any number of companions, so...

>Life has you slowly turn into a vegetable or age into dust
you know you can just kill yourself if you don't want to live anymore? you would definitely be dead a long time before turning into dust, life ends with sapience. and if you don't want to be a vegetable, tough luck man, you wanted eternal life. you even have the option to end it, the lack of that option would be far worse
>Everyone turns crazy and paranoid with peace
but there is no war. what's better anon, people killing themselves all over the world, or a little fear from something that will never happen?
>Power fucks you over by making you weak to common things
I intended this consequence to be sort of funny. pain (or a painful erection) won't kill you anon
>Love gives you a tranny who likes scat or other things that they should be killed for
yes, that's the point. you're supposed to learn to love someone for who they are and how they love you, not for their genitals or their kinks. although I do agree I wouldn't like being put into this situation either
>Wealth is evil but it just fucks other people over so whatever
oh, so fucking over other people is fine, but you are exempt from this fuckery? gee anon, what a selfless guy you are
>Member gives you a dick so large it won't work, can't be used to fuck anyone, and will probably kill you eventually
same as above, that's the point of the wish. besides, if it's too big to penetrate anything it doesn't mean you won't get any sexual pleasure from other stimulating acts. oh, and please tell me how a huge dick will kill you
>Little girl means you're probably getting thrown in an orphanage, so fucked over.

The key fucking thing to take home here is that this kind of CYOA where every option is meant to kill you and fuck you over is WORTHLESS. There's no joy or value or escapism or satisfaction from it. Also, random ideas:

-Dragons. All things dragons. You knew this would be asked.
-An option that makes myths and the collective subconscious affect reality. 0 if it can be positive or negative, +1 to 3 if all positive, -1 to 3 if all negative. In my mind this would create various random mythological creatures not seen in our history.
-Great spirits beyond the scope of Spirit Singer, akin to gods. For 0 points, there are both malevolent and benevolent spirits. For -3, solely malevolent spirits; for +3, solely benevolent spirits. Double points either way if the great spirits are only concerned with mankind (cannot be taken at 0).
-Fae. They switch human babies with their own young, subverting human communities, especially in cities. Can mask their true nature from most telepathy users and are difficult to detect. Expect paranoia.
-Dungeons and ruins scattered across the world. Filled with (optionally magic) treasure and danger. Tends to somehow appear when no one is looking for long periods of time.
-Demons and or angels. Could be standard or with some optional twists, like demons being empowered corruptions of existing races - including humans.
-Harpies. Flying scourge
-Cthulu type stuff. Cults, roll for sanity, etc.
-Iffy on this one, but flying islands to match subterranean?
-Environmental changes: Water World / Rock Earth. The ocean either expands drastically or shrinks drastically. Obviously these cannot be taken with some options.
-Environmental changes: Desert World / Snowball Earth / Jungle World. Self-explanatory.
-Environmental change: Post-apocalypse. Futuristic technology is scattered about among vast ruins, strange energies similar to radiation exist. Think Fallout.

Thanks for making this.

Idea for some drawbacks: Random location. You pop up in a random spot on a random continent rather than getting to choose. Roll d6 for North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, or Australia. Then maybe have an additional d6 chart for regions within each continent. Second, region-locked. You cannot leave the region you start out in. Third, random time. Roll a d10000. That is the year BCE you start in.
>>
>>48216831
What about making it so only you know the magic but you can teach/gift it to others, so long you know the (Major?) magic? And alternatively, only humans descended from you/companions gifted with magic at the beginning will have it.

I don't think the original version has that.

Another balance could be making it so that sans you and your companions, humans don't know magics but the others do at X frequency based off one of the four options (everyone, innate, taught, rare).

You should also specify whether magical aptitude is inheritable and whether it's recessive or dominant. That could also be a Legacy option.

>>
>>48218266
*tips hat* Thanks, and you're welcome.

>>48218720
Random start place, to be honest, isn't really a drawback. Or, if it is, it's worth like... 1 point. Too many ways to get to where they want to. I'd have to forbid Major Beastmaster and Major Master of Motion just to keep them from getting quick transportation.

On the other hand, "region-locked" is a good idea. I'll consider that, thanks.

Random time... I think is too... random. Either it doesn't hurt them at ALL, or it hurts them a lot. Not fond of the idea to be honest.

>>48218637
>>48218685
Thanks; this is really helpful to see. For example, it makes me realize that "Fair is Fair" really shouldn't be able to be applied to 'Blessed One', since that kind of magic doesn't help the dark species. Or, perhaps I need to say they get a twisted version of it.

>>48218739
Actually the original version does have that. My design principle here is that if you want *you* to be the center of power, you need to spend your fate points. Balance points cannot be used, at least not directly, to make you specifically powerful; they are about making the world as a whole magical.

Learn Mastery of Motion asap and travel between a few continents first. I build an isolated school deep in some inhospitable mountains, probably in South America. I travel to another continent and make the locals there give me children and food, which I teleport to my school. I teach people agriculture so their population grows and expect a food and children tithe every year. I move about quite a lot, delivering lectures and checking on my student's progress. This will hopefully make it difficult for my nemesis to track. I counteract the interference of spirits with my own healing powers as best as I'm able. When or if my school gets destroyed by my dick of a nemesis I move and setup shop again. Once I have my obligatory 1000 students out of the way, I wander about being a loud ham solving people's problems. (LOOKS LIKE YOU'VE SCRATCHED YOUR FINGER, BEHOLD MY ARCANE MIGHT AS I MAKE IT BETTER!!!) Over and over again. Spreading the basic idea of agriculture as I do to increase the world population (Especially where I am known). Once I accomplish Sorcerer Supreme there shouldn't be much of a barrier for my second goal. Build a world spanning theocracy, LARP 40k. Conquer galaxy, use a network of immortal telepaths who come from Holy Terra for communication. Keep the Nemesis alive so things will be interesting.
>>
>>48218739
Oh, I missed your last point.

There is an option I have recently added (-1 balance) to give a magic to one non-human neutral species only.

Whether magical aptitude is inheritable is an unnecessary detail for me to include in my opinion; you can already make your own descendants inherit it via the main CYOA. For humanity's success as a whole, all that really matters is the total number. Handwave it either way, as far as I'm concerned.
>>
>>48219080
Nice, but I'm curious what methods you have in mind to prevent your Nemesis from extinguishing all major population centers in order to invalidate your goal objectives.

I think people keep forgetting that a Nemesis in this CYOA doesn't need to kill you, in general, they just need to kill a LOT of other people.
>>
>>48219126
Hm, depends what magic they took. If it's similar to my own then they won't have much major destructive potential. In which case, after accomplishing the student goal, I could lock them into an eternal combat struggle, teleporting backwards and forwards across the world so people see it. Populations would still grow and enough people will know of our struggle that it should serve as adequately for the reputation requirement. Sure 5000 years of eternal combat might drive someone mad but Wellspring of harmony would arguably take care of that.
>>
>>48219183
In general, you can't count on your Nemesis picking the same magic that you do.

But I *love* the imagery of the 5000 year battle. Keep up the good work!
>>
>>48219221
Then I could be lucky and they might not have Mastery of Motion. In which case it'd be possible to imprison then somewhere. Say, the Earth's Molten core.
>>
>>48219245
Sure they could escape eventually, but then I could just teleport them back again. Which just evokes images of God and Satan. Heh. Everyone's paranoid about Satan coming out of the ground from hell and starting Armageddon

So, I tried my hand at finalizing my Realm build. The key note for this build is "Complications can be resolved in time." I am willing to endure some hardship in the short term for greater gains in the long term.

Arcadia is sometimes referred to as an endless frontier. Its population, though large, is spread over an endless expanse of massive floating islands suspended in the ether, giant planets, and even stranger things, like animals with continents on their backs. The stars around it whirl and flicker, creating strange and varying day cycles in different parts of the realm. An adventurer of even mythic power could spend thousands of years traveling and never see all it has to offer.

And it has much to offer indeed, as its lands are rife with strange biomes, landscapes, and constructions. Magical creatures and plants occupy endless jungles, strange ores glimmer on mountains taller than Earth itself, and bizarre dungeons appear, shift, and vanish. Entire civilizations can only manage to claim tiny percentiles of the land available, and most of everything is untamed wilds.

Though the population does not lack the capacity to claim. Its inhabitants are as powerful as they are varied, with myriad races, each exhibiting unique and awesome magical abilities. There are entire empires using advanced magitech to conquer beast-filled forests, and tiny villages protected by a handful of spirit mages. Beastmen, elves, dwarves, plantbodies, rockbodies, elementals, oni, demons, angels, faeries. The list goes on. With so much room and so much magic, almost every sort of sapient exists somewhere.

Likewise, there exist countless deities to watch over and intervene in the lives of the people. From minor land gods to titanic, lumbering concept-gods, the heavens thunder with the divine. Prayer is no idle pursuit, but a call for aid to an interested audience.

One might think that, with so many gods interested in the souls of mortals, death would seem a mere triviality in Arcadia. This thought would be half-true. Indeed, most Arcadians know that an afterlife exists, and that it's possible to reincarnate back from it into the realm of the living. But few seem to do so, and the specifics are unclear. Those who return alive, through reincarnation or resurrection, are unable to shed much light on the subject. Though these returned souls do come away with the impression that the afterlife is less a place of reward or punishment, and more of a sequel to your life in the realm.

There is one element of Arcadia that must still be mentioned. While its inhabitants find it mundane, visitors from other worlds are often quite surprised. The sapients of Arcadia, mortal and god alike, have a special power. They can call forth menus in the air, which list their status, skills, class, and level. Skills can cover almost anything you'd call a skill. "Crafting" exists alongside "Negotiation" and "Greater Fireball." Levels are gained with experience, and experience is gained differently based on your class. Each class must pursue its specialty to gain experience. Class-changing is possible, but costly and difficult. Naturally, when you're first born, your class is "Arcadian," and you must choose your first proper class when you reach majority.

Visiting Arcadia is, itself, a task requiring some luck and courage. While no simple gateways or portals connect it to other realms, small pieces of it occasionally phase out of its plane and into others. Anyone lucky (or unlucky) enough to be on such a piece when it returns will come along for the ride. From there, they'll be unable to return until they find another phasing segment of the realm, or master a magic that allows them to return.
>>
>>48219959
(3/3)

But with all that said, what about me? Well, I lose my memories. I'm also bound to fulfill my promises, and I am drained of my lifeforce if I fail to occasionally grant boons to others. And nearly all the magical abilities I've gained are anchored in an artifact, a simple amulet hanging around my neck.

On the plus side, I have loads of awesome powers, a base in the form of a magically-powered airship that can travel the void between segments of my realm, a host of useful automatons that can go out into the realm and assist citizens (granting me a continuous tiny stream of lifeforce), and a collection of powerful magitech armor and weapons to protect and empower me.

I've also gained a familiar, who has all of my significant abilities, and a few faint echoes of my memories. Though I do not know what form it will take. I also have a small number of friends along with me, who have nearly all my powers, and a basic understanding of my afflictions, including the amnesia.

But between my many awesome powers, my divine spark, my power to reshape my realm and my party of totally cool dudes, we should be set to have a radical adventure as we quest to restore my to my full power and generally have loads of fun.

If you have enough energy in your 80-90 year old body to do the deed, and you don't suffer from dementia, due to your body aging. Not to mention that you have no recollection about the wish, so you have no idea that you can't die of old age.

Now that you mention it, being in Cold War 2: Electric Boogaloo sounds like a terrible idea. Imagine what that would do to the global economy.

Ancient Mysteries -25
Divine Speed -20
Godly Mind - 10
Sixth Sense - 10
Divine Memory - 10
Double Trouble - 20
Martial Prowess [Swords] - 5

My double and I use divine speed to jog all across the countryside systematically looking for the cubes, coordinated by our divine memory, so we know places we haven't searched. Divine speed and martial prowess should help against any guardians, although really we'd be looking to snatch and grab. When one of us finds a cube, one meditates, the other searches for more.

Continue this prowess until we've covered the globe. Assuming we recover 10 cubes:

Double Trouble - 20 Might find more cubes
Seer of the Infinite - 50 Avoid trouble, no ones gonna kill me!
Demonic Pact - 25

With demonic pact, I dress up as the devil and offer to give people $300 if they sign over their soul to me in blood. I do this at the the centre of a city. People will do it. After I get 105 points:
Immortality - 50
Divine Resilience - 20
Master Orator - 10 (Good for a personality cult)
The Power of Adoration - 25

I take on the mantle of Hermes reborn
After that, I don't know. Just chill. Maybe take Defender of the Innocent just for the irony and powergaming. Not like I need to harvest any more souls after 1000

The problem with 'your abilities modified by points' is that everybody is a mary sue online.
>>
>>48222203
They build what they want. There's no stat system to say that "I have a 5/10 in singing, 6/10 in math after buying". They just get to say "I want to improve my math and singing skills, but I'll sacrifice some of my mechanics"

The final rank of any skill is still fixed to "maximum". It's up to you to decide whether or not that's worthwhile compared to your current abilities
>>
>>48222254
'
Everybody is amazing at the skill they really want (but not enough to pay for.)

At best you get people lying about being 4/10 at Singing to purchasing +3 makes them 6/10 at it! (Gotta love/hate autotune.)
>>
>>48221891
Not him, but I think the biggest problem is you left the project for too long. I feel the value of your points is all over the place.
You can get gems for 10 points a piece. One makes it so you can't make enemies, another so you age slower and more gracefully.
And "dat ass" costs the same amount of points, but you still have to buy an ass, so a magnificient ass is more expensive than total disease immunity.
Hobbies cost the same amount of points as disease immunity, but doesn't guarantee you're good.
If you want to be a good musician, you first have to spend 6/9 or more points to be good, then buy the hobby so you have an interest in music. You end up having to pay the same as two gems, to be good at playing an instrument and to want to play the instrument

As an aside, the whole "decide how your room looks" and "what car do you drive" seems like it's tacked on for no reason. Every other section has cost points, now we get these.
Same with perks - they're nice, sure, but it seems out of place.
>>
>>48222297
oh, and I think the other guy mentioned it, but it's important: If you truly are "you", then your old abilities carry over.
I "shouldn't need" to buy my okay science/math skills. I know that's impossible to balance, and some guy will say
>Hey I got a B+ in biology in high school, that means I'm totally great at science!!!
but it just doesn't make sense to buy what you already have. It makes it feel like I'm making a character that starts out as a blank slate.
>>
>>48222297
So then i take it i should just abandon the CYOA and move on.
>>
>>48222320
>and move on.
is it time to revive necromancer cyoa?
>>
>>48222320
Necromancer time?
>>
>>48222272
and you have a 10/10 in missing the point.

All the cyoa would be doing is asking if you want to want to improve something about yourself, or if you want to give it up. Unless you take the 3rd rank you are never going to be really exceptional at the skill, and if you do take that it doesn't matter what you started with.

>>48222297
I kind of agree that the gems don't fit the theme. The old version gems were a better fit. I don't think they really completely eliminate buying other options though.
>>
>>48222338
>>48222346
That would indeed be the next thing in line.

As much as it pains me, i guess i have to admit i can't really make it better without changing a large amount again.
>>
>>48219949
What Realm CYOA?
>>
>>48222361

The only way it could work is by restricting how much you can be decent at for no points.

One primary skill starts at 6/10. Two secondaries at 4/10. Three level three skills at 3/10 and the last skill of seven would be 1/10 by default. (Assuming 0/19 is complete inabiliity.)
>>
>>48222393
THERE ARE NO STATS

at all. No one has stats. You simply say "make me better at X". doesn't matter if you are good, bad, or average. You just get better.
>>
>>48222320
If you want, sure. That's not what I said though.
>>48222369
>i can't really make it better without changing a large amount again.

It's in the queue.

Honestly I don't see a way to fix it on my own any more, so I probably won't try.
>>
>>48222423
I totally get it. I've been arguing with myself just now about how to do it, and I don't see how.
The "stats" (how good you are at science, art etc.) works perfectly just now... but only if you choose to give up your knowledge. But then you end up having to spend all your points just to be average/above average.
And if you don't give up it doesn't make any sense, since I end up paying points to be worse.

I think it got too big desu. It's not a bad cyoa, but I feel like I end up having to be bad at many things just to get enough points.
That's fair and like real life, sure, but why would I want to be average in a fantasy game?
>>
>>48222406
yeah some of them are kind of no brainers. But would you rather be one of the prettiest people in the world? Have singing ability to make you world-famous? That's especially after having already bought the couple of gems that you mentioned.
>>
>>48222461
I'm contemplating just getting rid of the notion that you keep yourself/your knowledge in "this" incarnation of you, simplifying the concept and making it more like a blank slate.

I could even just drop the pretext and make it a "make a high schooler" CYOA instead.

I tried to please too many people by doing too many things and i don't think i pleased anyone in the end really.
>>
>>48222461
make average cost 0. That's the single easiest change to make. Make a note that "average" is no change or no-negative change if you dont sacrifice your current skills.
>>

Don't. "Make a highschooler" is boring as fuck and nobody wants memory death.

I've explained already how to fix it. Make clear which options do not alter your self, and make those options cost nothing.
>>
>>48222470
I wouldn't want to be the prettiest, or the most talented, far from it.
But after decreasing my height, picking ass/chest size, attraction level (all above average, because I do want to be pretty, but not a model), I've already spent something like 40 points.
Then I want to pick hobbies, too, but I want to be good at them. Like I said, Music hobby + to be Good at music iirc costs 16/19 points. So to be in a band and make music people want to listen, but not enough to where you can live off it, costs almost the same as two gems.

So one gem, to be a 7/10 in my eyes, to not have to deal with painful menstruation because fuck that, and to have several hobbies, I don't have points left to get a family, a house etc.
I know most of my problems with the cyoa and points come from being a greedy bastard who wants to be pretty.
But this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to control my body, and I would hate myself later on if I was unhappy with my looks, knowing I decided them.
>>
>>48222489
>getting rid of the notion that you keep yourself/your knowledge in "this" incarnation of you
I would be kinda upset at that, and you would have lots of screaming about memory death.
Because, as he will say, you're not playing "you", you're making a character. It's like making a person in the Sims, but you close the game after buying their house and getting them a job.
>turn it into "make a high schooler, not you"
I don't think that's a good idea.

And don't try to please people. It never ends well.
>>48222493
>average cost 0
This. It's especially obvious with languages: Speaking gibberish gives you points, speaking 2 extra languages cost points. You can't just speak the language you got from your Race choice + English
In regards to languages there's the same problem as before, I have to pay to speak my mother tongue.

It's about game balance. We like balanced games.

I get it, you have a talent you do not want to lose. But, you can also 'cheat' and just say in your post that you have the talent and you get it in the CYOA. Most people here are NEETS and other lifeless people. (lol, it's 4chan.) They do not have special talents and so need balance to keep from meglomanical 'I can do anything. I have all the SUPERpowers!' -tier shit. These CYOA re a way to keep 'imaginative' fantasy versions of ourselves in check. And some just enjoy working around rule systems to get a themed build or the 'best' deal possible.

Now as to music costing more than a gem; it probably should! You can get into any panties you put moderate effort into. You can get music gigs to pay bills easily enough. You can get coin from a subway station! In short, a teen in high school with musical talent (serious talent and the ability to enjoy their skills) has a serious easy street.

Unless your a Undead Accountant, I doubt your going to get easy street using Accountancy and a love of Maths. (Go read the Undead Accountant books. They are great.)

Possesion x2 16
Because I need the best. Also hiding from sunlight and reduces the cost of this to 8
Poltergist x2 8
Magical Rape Dildoes and other Toys

Unholy and Evil seem like they go together. Plus I get points I need.

Again, this is a disad? Why?

>>48222649
you are playing the wrong game.

The game is the choice, balance is in whether or not choices are worth taking. Claiming you are gods gift to the world to start with doesn't matter, because you aren't competing against anybody but yourself, and YOU know you are lying.

If all you want to do is make up bullshit you don't need a CYOA to help you with that.
>>
>>48222649
>a teen in high school with musical talent
>you can earn money with music!
The Citrine gem (10 points) gives you succes both with earning and finding money. It also minimizes the odds of addiction or other types of self harm
To have "real talent" at music, you will need
>Ability: Music, Excellent (25 points)
>Hobby: Music, An instrument/Singing (10 points)
That's 35 points to get the talent, which doesn't guarantee anything.

(I realize I'm talking way too much shit at the cyoa, so I'll try out a build where I don't spend half my points on appearance)

The situation was just unreal, and while I felt that the shock was allowing me to act more or less calm for the moment I would probably have a small freak out later along at some point. Still, I had winced when she tossed my words back at me about the wish. Upsetting a djinn was not a great idea from what I recalled.

No three wishes then, well that was a shame but at least she seemed willing to entertain the idea of one... but what would I wish for?

Eternal life was certainly something I had hoped for, but to have it alone would be unfulfilling eventually. I wanted wealth the same as any man or woman but it alone did not make one happy, the rich just had different kinds of problems. World peace or the end to world hunger or curing of all diseases seemed things to help humanity as a whole but I really did not think they were the sort of stuff I'd wish for when I only had one. I was too selfish for that. Maybe if I had three, I'd give up one or two to the world (which would benefit me as well anyway) but I wanted something for myself, to be brutally honest.

Gazing at her still looking at the listings and glancing my way occasionally, I ended up clearing my throat. "I want... you."

The way she had been smirking, he had finally realized something else about the old stories and the games. It might not be accurate, but then again it might. She just might be prone to perverting the wish once he made it, and truthfully she was quite cute and as with immortality, wealth and all, company would definitely be most apprecited. Didn't hurt that I was fascinated by the supernatural, either.

...Her reaction was rather priceless, and she seemed to be reading my mind on at least part of it, since I did not say a word but she seemed to pick up on stuff and answer questions on her own even as she retreated to the nearby bathroom.

Unable to stop myself I chuckled faintly but then shook my head and let out a sigh. (1/?)

Setting her lamp back onto the shelf for the time being I stepped into the kitchen to prepare some coffee, checking the fridge for alternatives. There was always the tap-water of course, but I also had some gaming-night-favorite in form of Coca Cola there. Not sure how she'd react to some of that stuff.

Nevertheless, I decided to just wait for her to be done with her shower. While I admit I'd wanted a look I was not the sort to peep, at least unless it was a part of an agreed-upon play.

Shaking my head, I watched her emerge from the shower in one of the big old fluffy blue bath-robes I kept. Hey, sue me, my mom bought them and they were damn comfy, though oversized for her obviously. Heck, they were for me too once I actually lost some weight couple years back.

"So. A djinn. I can't help but think back at the One Thousand and One nights in the stories side, and I'm pretty curious overall on a lot of stuff, but I am not quite sure what to think. I'm expecting to wake up from a dream any moment or end up freaking out at some point, sorry in advance by the way. This is just unreal in a way."

I saw her watching me as I stood up to our two cups of coffee, as well as two glasses of coke, setting them down.

"Coffee is hot, cola is cold, and if neither is to your tastes there's tapwater. I'm going to have to take a run to the store later to get some food, but for now, I was hoping you'd be willing to answer a couple of questions."

Watching her relax slightly and take a sip of both drinks, I watched her wince at the taste of coffee but seem to relax with the coke then.

"The first one is bitter, the second one all fizzy, but its good and cold. Okay, ask away then. I won't promise to have answers to all but I'll answer what I can."

"Good enough for me. First off, you seem quite adept at using the computer, how to use the shower and all that, and were planning on heading out earlier. I take it you can hide your race easy enough in public then?" (2/?)

"If I have to, but Anon why would I want to? I'm gorgeous as I am." She smirked teasingly, and with arms crossed underneath her chest I think she was enjoying seeing me trying not to look.

Her reaction had been overt and she seemed to be looking for payback, but I was not about to blush that easily, though keeping from looking that much was a bit of a challenge with a rather blatant show.

"Ah, I was just thinking it'd be hard for you to go around with people all swarming all around you. Magic isn't really more than tricks and showmanship in the society at least according to most people, and someone as exotically beautiful as you would draw attention and curiosity, and not always the good sort either I think."

"Huh. Okay, you got a point." With that, I was witness to a bit of a shift, her horns seemed to vanish and her skin color changed to a bit more tanned shade rather than outright crimson, her hair staying the same though and her appearance still rather 'smoking' if I say so.

"Cat got your tongue?" She teased, causing me to blush for having been caught staring that long.

"Err, more to the point, the djinn did." I smiled before seeing a touch of a predatory smirk on her face.

"Well then, I'll hold onto it for a while, I might find some use for it eventually." Despite the bravado, there was a bit of blush on her cheeks, and that in turn had a blush on my face as well easy enough. Damn. At least this would be interesting. (3/3)

Because once you put your work out there, you have no control over how people perceive your work. You can always put people in the right direction, but your words and images will never be able to convey your meaning at a 1:1 ratio so there will be miscommunication between author and reader.

Learn not to get bitter and to take in those criticisms to improve your work.

People will always look for something to complain about and whine, authors make their work as they see fit, and they may listen to community requests if they like but ultimately, if someone gets butthurt because everything doesn't go 100% the way they want, that's their problem not the author's I'd say.

Yeah its a fun little cyoa but unfortunately the post-size here along with the material on hands from a small cyoa don't prompt very long texts that easily, and in my case, I gotta be off soon anyway as well.

Do keep on working on more though, you have a nice touch of humor mixed with some interesting ideas, could be fun to see more coming. There's a lot of quiet lurkers out there, a few vocal assholes, and a couple of encouraging folks dropping in now and then.

Ultimately? As long as you have fun making things and you find people who enjoy your work too, let the whiners choke on their whines and enjoy what you see from the supporting side.

I don't like a cyoa where you don't get to know what your choice is. You want me to feel inspired to write?
Give me an actual choice.
That, combined with a Djinn that talks shit about us and the cyoa thinking I'm a NEET basement dweller and of course it's obvious all the choices were shit

So I picked nothing.

Your cyoa isn't even the second or third of it's kind, it's been done to death and has been received poorly every single time. With that in mind, how are we supposed to believe you're acting in good faith here?

My distrust for your motives is only compounded by the fact that your cyoa forces us to make a stupid choice. At least one of your predecessors gave the option to say "no thanks", and in that version the mystery wishes were all actually good.

Buddhism is not a religion, it's philosophy.

Specially if we're talking about Yogacara and not the older branch of Buddhism.

Imagining yourself in fantasy settings isn't 'bad', it is narcissistic which would create unwholesome Bija in your Alaya-Vijnana, thus perfuming bad karma, but that is part of being human, because narcissism is a false idea of self, which is Manas-Vijnana.

To not be influenced by Manas-Vijnana is to exist like the Buddha and 'see' through Amala-Vijnana, which is like, really fucking hard dude.

My family wants me to give into these urges and become a “Proper Demon Lord”, but I seek to master myself. When I’m not being a total rape machine twat, I usually keep to myself or my group of friends. I always do my best to remain polite but not uptight or obnoxious (though I often fail at this as well). I would love to meet a girl who is immune to my infernal mind control and does not fear standing up to me. I seek the Grail to “cure” me of these violent rape tendencies.

What's wrong with waifus? Aside from not being able to meet them in a virtual world, of course.
>>
>>48224558
My plan is to through Telepathy Major broadcast orders to the civilian populace quite soon after arrival. I'll tell them where to go, and once at the location, imbue a select number of individuals with Telepathy, Master of Motion and Blessed one Minors. They'll act as my missionaries, aswell as a telepathic inquisition to make sure that everyone in the area they work in really do worship me as a god. I'll grant them minor healing abilities just to give people a good first impression about me. I'm basically a tank anyways, so even if they dont like me, noone can do anything, my nemesis included.

The description for the upgrade of "Personal Omni-Weapon" is ""you can switch back and forth at will between any weapon that has yet been created", which is pretty powerful. If so my go-to weapon for vanquishing my Nemesis will be the tactical nuclear recoilless gun M-29 which can launch an infinite amount of sub-kiloton warheads. Combining it with Firedancer Major, I'm sure I'l be able to make life really nasty for my Nemesis. Firedancer also lets me wreathe my body in flames, which is the appearance everyone but my followers will see. The spirits can hate me if they want, I dont really care.

Since I have Telepathy Major + Imbue before completing the God Emperor quest, it nets me 15 points instead, which will be spent towards Shapeshifting Major and Diet 2, and Sorcerer gives me Stormsage Major. Essentially I will unlock my true form once present day is reached, being able to expand by an order of magnitude. Diet because if I'm 20 meters tall, energy reqs go up. 1 slot for immortal waifu. Since I'll be able to travel fast around the world, and through Master of Motion Major teleport back there anytime I like, creating a global empire should be relatively easy. Telepathy Major overcomes any langauge barriers. It might take me two thousand years to master my skills enough and vanquish my Nemesis before I can truly focus completely on empire building.

Good build, but you're misunderstanding the omni-weapon, which is my fault. "yet been created" means "yet been created on the current world that you are in". Which is why it's only a point or two. I will clarify that. So you may need to rethink how to deal with the Nemesis.

As for the spirits hating you... certainly they can't stop you, but they can make life *really* intolerable. Think of a day when everything little thing seemed to go wrong. Now imagine that happening all the time.

>>48224695

>>
>>48225089
Arranged marriage can actually make some of the drawbacks more tolerable by the implications it gives.

I gamed the CYOA by buying an arranged marriage with a young muzzie. It means my parents and her parents both don't give a fuck about her age so we're not getting in trouble on that front, and the CYOA's caveat that she well and truly loves me blah blah means she's also likely to play along. Plus with marriages like that you usually have to wait until some agreed upon age before you actually live together, so all it means is I need to wait a few years for her to become an adult.

It only depends on that if you're trying to redefine the shape of europe, which is widely agreed on, for the sake of a stupid internet argument.

Here, have an autistic drawing I made for /int/ a few years ago. Didn't know I still had this thing.

This is how the division of europe would be if you went only by strict geometry. Discounting the obvious shitty ms paint lines.
>>
>>48225194
Yeah, drawbacks are bad, m-kay. In my mind, if every build I see maxes out on drawbacks, then I've done something wrong.

>>48214940
Betrayal can still be munchkinned for free points: you just have 2 companions you absolutely despise, like Mohammed and Hillary Clinton, and whom you would kill anyway even without prior knowledge of their betrayal. Boom, 2 open slots and 10 points.

I don't it's possible for you to make this option munchkin free. At best the drawback is us Munchkins being forced to kill multiple companions and living with that guilt.
>>
>>48225194
As a point, Wellspring of Harmony and Major Divination, which you selected both of, should make the situation quasi-tolerable.

Wellspring of Harmony keeps you in a positive frame of mind, while Major Divination will allow you to side-step the worst of the tricks they will play on you.
>>
>>48225270
It doesn't have any bias, it's geometric and completely ignoring everything other than the shape of europe. I just took the center of europe and drew some parallel lines radiating out of it to show where the borders would be if you ignored political concepts.
>>
>>48225271
I would encourage you to read the text under "Choose Your Company", which says:

'Luckily for you, looking around, you see that some others have been brought along by the same force that acted upon you.'

The way you should really be thinking about this is that whatever brought you here knew who you would most like to have with you, and brought them also. This frees you of any guilt of having "pulled them away" from their life, but also means you really shouldn't be "gaming the system" by bringing people that you hate.

I think I'll just add something like "if your companions all die before the betrayal can occur, then you sudden gain X drawback instead". I hate that that is necessary, but apparently it is.

Your drawbacks are really extreme so you should expect people to want to mitigate them and that they will do so at every chance they get.

I am personally planning to scorch the Earth wherever I go and annihilate entire cultures until the spirits get the message and leave me the fuck alone. If the spirits of the land keep bothering me then I will destroy the land itself.

>>
>>48225409
so... a regular fantasy school, except you die if you act like a common teenager?
>>
>>48225393
It's a difference in design philosophy. Some people think that drawbacks should be such that everyone always takes the maximum amount. I disagree. If it's a really hard decision whether or not to take a drawback, I think that is a good thing, and makes the process more interesting.

Nothing I can do will stop people from making (literally) flaming assholes that go about destroying humanity if they wish to. I mean, that's a super boring narrative, but some people like their snuff fiction, and it's not really worth me even trying to stop that.
>>
>>48225456
Be sure to leave enough people alive to satisfy the win conditions.
>>
>>48225467
A regular fantasy school where you are stuck for several years with no fetish fullfilment
>>
>>48225434
why not?
>>
>>48225472
It'd be good if there were a 5 point disadvantage to even everything out. I'm not sure what it could be. The Curse of The Immortal - As people come to know of you and your powers they become supernaturally worshipful or fearful of you. As much as you try you will never form any bond of kinship with anyone not of your companions.
>>
>>48225506
It doesn't hurt me in the slightest.
What are you gaining from it? You're "stuck" there, too.
>>
>>48225472
I personally believe that drawbacks should add challenge but not to the extent that they are life-ruining.

>that's a super boring narrative, but some people like their snuff fiction, and it's not really worth me even trying to stop that.

Don't be closeminded. Not every story has to be happy and noblebright, and some people prefer to go about things more violently.

I have made plenty of builds but if I could only make one, I'd prefer one that allowed me to live a relatively peaceful life in an urban fantasy earth. I'm just waiting for the right perks in the DLC but the vampire lord thing already looks promising. Doesn't mean I can't appreciate a good genocidal story every now and then though.
>>
>>48225516
I appreciate the effort of the suggestion, but the problem with that as a "drawback" is that it's not actually a drawback for a lot of people. There are plenty of builds that specifically aim to be above the "regular people", while a few companions can fill in any need for kinship.

There's at least one new drawback I will be adding, suggested by a kind anon, that "region locks" you to a limited area of the world. I'll continue to try to think of others.
>>
>>48225528
Nothing. But that one anon who reposts it every time is there.
>>
>>48225550
Hm, what if it also applied a measure of distance to your companions as well? Or if it required you not to take companions?
>>
>>48225539
It's not about being closeminded, it's more... what is there to say?

"I become a god of fire and death and systemically kill everyone while absolutely nothing can stop me".

Now, if you had a Nemesis who was trying to defend humanity at the same time, THAT could be interesting... I'll think about enabling that possibility.
>>
>>48225556
ah, now THAT I can get.
Still, I'd rather have fun working together, but that's just me.
>>
>>48225573
Now that's closer to a possibility. I'll think about it; thanks. The big stumbling block I still see is that since it expires after a quest is completed, I'm not sure how much of a punishment it is. But definitely a possibility.
>>
>>48225550
Same could be said for plenty of drawbacks you have already. Tower of Babel is free points if you go the Emperor of Mankind route and literally remove every other language for the planet. Same for Beastfoe, you could just bann all animals from your Holy Capital. Stormbringer assumes we give a shit about the world around us. Even Nemesis is just a weaker rival to rape and dominate for some people.
>>
>>48222706
Where's the rest?
>>
>>48225611
By the time you could remove every other language or ban animals, then you'll probably have satisfied the requirements anyway for the quest, and so the drawback is over.

And, yeah, I can't possibly "plug all the holes", but at least those drawbacks represent something of an inconvenience before you can get into a position to "do away" with what troubles you. In contrast, a drawback to make you unable to emotionally connect with non-companions would not even give a moments pause to many people.
>>
>>48225577
>"I become a god of fire and death and systemically kill everyone while absolutely nothing can stop me".

Which can be interesting because people WILL try. Time after time humanity will attempt to overthrow you and they always fail but each time they try is yet another story, another quest, and another hero for you to slay. The entire world might unite against you in their hatres and fear and petty differences will be forgotten. You'd be the saviour of mankind exactly because you're its shared nightmare.
>>
>>48225651
Perhaps. I suppose it's a matter of perspective. In any case, I'm not going to attempt to stop people from becoming a god of fire and death, and so I don't think continuing this conversation is too productive when I could be writing about centaurs and living plants.

Input is always appreciated, though, so thanks.
>>
>>48225638
Not true. That is exactly a drawback I would never pick no matter how many point you gave me because it would be unbearable. I imagine plenty of people consider it a pretty hefty drawback too.

More so than Tower of Babel. Emperor of Mankind, Empire Eternal and Federation all put you in a position where you have access to translators or people just adapt their language to accomodate you waaaay before the quest is completed.
