An infant child. "Vacuos" means one who is empty of thought or mind, which point to one who is retarded or, as fitting with bloodbornes' theme, a newborn child. Rom, unlike other kin, is non-violent until attacked multiple times and even then only retreats and flails about with its power, like a panicked infant.

This is fanon of course.

Jesus christ, how the hell did she do that much damage to those people's skulls with a musket butt. I know the wood is hard as fuck, but it's not an outright club is it? Wouldn't the wood split after turning a skull to literal mush? Not to mention for them to have died so close while still sustaining that much damage, she would have had to have knocked them down quickly and then bludgeoned their skulls to pulp afterwards. She's thorough, I'll give you that.

Half sword is when you hold the handle and the blade above the crossguard to effectively shorten your reach. You still use the pointy end.
Mordhau is when you turn the sword around and hold it by the tip to smack bitches with the pommel

That's a corset. Like, that's just a corset. She's going to die in combat because she can't move or breath.

why would you even need a corset with hips that pop like that anyway.

When you hold the blade with two hands, it's a Mordhau, which you use to give the other guy a concussion through their helmet, optionally so hard that the helmet bulges and you can puncture their temples, one of the weakes spots on the skull and in earlier and low quality helmets also in the middle of a flat metal survace as opposed to on an edge, which would be sturdier. Basically bashing in their fucking skull.

Halfswording is used to get more leverage for your muscles and get perfect tip controll, to sull out stab someone in a weak spot of their armor. Basically you want to make and all out stab at an unprotected part like their armpits, a slit in their protection like between plates, or to stab TROUGH their mail. If it connects, the halfswording gets you enaugh leverage to turn something that would be a superficial puncture or not a hit with a normal hold into a fight ending impalement upon your sword.

Also, if it looks stupid, but works, it ain't stupid
>>
>>48206183

Probably so they pop even more? Wide hips are great, but wide hips with a slim waist is even better.

An attire that is retardedly cumbersome and unprotective, with design choices that are straightforwardly detrimental to combat efficiency, and with a solely aestethic purpose - looking "cool" by 14 y.o. weeaboo standards and showing an armor bra - doesn't seem to belong in the 'woman combatants who aren't pinups' category.

>>
>>48206351
You literally don't know what a pinup is.

1.a large photograph, as of a sexually attractive person, suitable for pinning on a wall.
2.a person in such a photograph.
3.a device or fixture that is fastened to a wall, as a lamp.

While the character itself could easily be depicted as fapbait the picture in no way shape or form depicts her as such. It is a character reference sheet at most and your griping is misplaced.

Rail against it for being impractical all you want it's not a pinup.
>>
>>48206412
A sword is a bar of metal. It's just as good as a club when it comes to hurting people.
>>
>>48206331
Except that's not true and someone with a sword will still disarm you. That's why everyone used swords. Also, if you think Maces were actually solid metal, you're dead wrong. Most people still carried a sword simply for the fact that someone with a sword can simply out technique you. Why do you think knights were in light training from 6-14 and heavy training from 14 to the end of their lives? Because they needed that long to learn how to bash with metal sticks at each other?

Most people with Maces still carried a sidesword with more reach against opponents who were not freshly drafted peasants.

Also, War Hammers are more effective against armor than Maces, firstly because they have more reach, and secondly because the non-deforming impacto of a flat, unspiked warhammer transfers all it's kinetic energy through the armor into the flesh, effectively turning your opponent into human-pudding without even bruising their valuable armor too much.
>>
>>48206421
And you are clearly too stupid or too blindly defensive to admit you're just cherry-picking on a definition when clearly "Combatant womans who aren't pinups" isn't supposed to be taken literally as 'Every woman that is a combatant and not 1.a large photograph, as of a sexually attractive person, suitable for pinning on a wall, 2.a person in such a photograph, or 3.a device or fixture that is fastened to a wall, as a lamp.'
>>

Realistic depiction of how an aristocrat woman would react after a battle where her troops benefit from her "leadership". She thought being a general was mostly about yelling orders and looking pretty, and never bothered paying attention to lectures about strategy and tactics. This happens to male aristocrats in corrupt, decadent cultures, too. Officers who are ignorant, arrogant fops is a big trope, not nearly enough character art of either sex like this.

Her hotness is part of the trope: it's about being a good looking socialite instead of a leader and administrator.

Not at all. They suck as a weapon of war, are incompatible with the european battlefied tactics that involve highly disciplined group action as opposed to the "honorable" 1v1 practised by the Japanese because their Code of Honor forbade them from using more effective techniques than "Honarably put up stationary shields on both sides, shoot arrows at each other untill you have no more arrows, then charge with spears. When point of close combat is reached, pull out sword and 1v1 untill end of combat". Japan is pretty much the only place in the world that saw some actual use of flails, and even there it was pretty niche. And then again, not because they were actually using good strategy or tactics or weapons, but precisely because they didn't have to as one of the most peacefull countries throughout human history. The only reason they thought their Samurai were the shit was because they never faught anyone else than other samurai, and on the rare occasions that they did, they got their shit pushed in (see also, pre-Meiji invasion of Korea, Mongol Invasion of Japan that failed because all Mongol reinforcements drowned in a storm, meaning the Mongols slaughtered the Japanes until they starved and Japan "won" through the "Divine Winds")

Tl;dr no one used flails, except the Japanese, and even they only for stupid reasons and so rarely that it's not worth considering.

It's more interesting to me to think about how much craft work information the wives and female family members of tradesmen were educated with, since if they couldn't hold up their source of income (which was typically credit, not coinage) as their men were away fighting they'd just fucking starve. Maybe that's why the British Celts and Anglo-Saxons gave their women more rights, because they traded a lot with clothing materials that women could very easily help craft and produce with tools?

Look for nomadic/tribalistic cultures. Once a culture turns to agriculture, then the women are instantly majorly unequal since the men have the upper body strength to do the hard farm work, and it breaks away from the different but egalitarian roles in many nomadic cultures. IIRC, the Celts had a female warrior tradition.
>>
>>48208717
Well, it's kinda a combination. Joan was said to get into the thick of things in battles, true, but she never actually fought anyone (she said something like she preferred her banner).

Standard bearer still meant you were a big target, of course, which is how she took those crossbow injuries. And probably how she got captured.

In fact, the only time she used her sword against another person was when she walloped a camp prostitute with the flat of it and snapped the blade.

There are tons of examples of women recieving at least some training, most often to defend themselves and their home (onna bushi, Mongol women in a wagonfort etc.), but women actively going out and being fullfledged warriors mostly seem to be exceptions from the rule.

For example, in the various Norse sagas, you got a bunch of shield maidens, but they are presented in a way that makes it clear, it's not a common thing.
Likewise we got some historical accounts of female Norse fighters, but again, very few and far between.

>>48208959
Even in pre-agriculutural societies, women fighting was a pretty uncommon thing though. It's not like the Celts rolled up with a 50/50 share of female fighters.

>That's why everyone used swords.
Except that by the time maces became popular, armor had outclassed swords so unless you were half-swording or mordhauing a sword was not that great, unless it's an Estoc or something similar which were generally blunt except for the point.

>Why do you think knights were in light training from 6-14 and heavy training from 14 to the end of their lives?
To have a mastery over a variety of weapons, riding, wrestling, and basics of warfare?

>more reach against opponents who were not freshly drafted peasants
A: No one really drafted peasants that much in Europe
B: Why would you use your mace against an unarmored person? You use swords against lightly armored foes and maces against armored people.

>War Hammers have more reach, and secondly because the non-deforming impacto of a flat, unspiked warhammer transfers all it's kinetic energy through the armor into the flesh
Are you talking about two handed warhammers? Because a one handed one will have about the same reach as a mace.
The majority of warhammers were spiked, to confer more force at the point of attack and better penetrate armor.

Depends on the type of flail. One handed flails are pretty rare to find, but the two handed versions were used quite extensively by the Hussites when they revolted and later repelled a Crusade. They're large, cumbersome, and need some buddies to do some teamwork and keep you alive so you can crush some foppish noble's face in.
See the guy in the middle.

Just because on side is bad doesn't make the other side good by default you dingus. Hell, almost every single faction of Bloodborne is filled to the brim with selfish assholes who only wished to further their own agenda, usually at the expense of the normal people and other factions.

Also, least we forget about the Church's crimes:

The Choir kidnaps children and experiments on them to create celestial emissarys as well as getting "volunteers" to do their experments on hence the research hall.

The School of Mensis takes over an entire town to the same thing and it's insinuated that they kill and boiled down the parts of people's bodies to create the abomination you fight midway through the game.

And then you have the League Confederates who are essentially an organization of serial killers killing people who are tainted with vermin only they can see and the very leader of the organiation is implied to be a cannibalistic monster hence the bucket on his head.

Except it DID happen in many historic incidents, most especially after the invention of gunpowder and its dominance of the battlefield. It was very rare, but there are cases of women picking up arms to protect homesteads and villages from raiders when men were not around. There was at least one incident in Ottoman Syria where a group of women picked up weapons to defend their village from raiders while their husbands were on campaign, and held them for three days before the men came back to route them.

Turns out "Pick up a gun or get horribly raped and killed" is a pretty strong motivator.

It's not so much DONUTSTEEEL waifus being unharmed so much as it is bog-standard soldiers who just happen to be women who just happen to be totally just as good as men but never get hurt.

Case in point are the FFG rulebooks for the 40k RPGs. They've shoehorned guardswomen into every damn imperial guard regiment as if they're just as good at being soldiers as men and all the many many reasons why it's a terrible idea are just ignored. They love featuring art of these guardswomen standing around doing nothing.
But when the time comes to have a big battle scene featuring loads of dead guardsmen, they're always all men.
>We're gonna pretend women are just as good at being soldiers as men
>B-b-b-but they're not allowed the suffer the obvious consequences of such a thing
They're claiming guardswomen are perfectly fine soldiers while simultaneously confirming one of the main reasons why it's a bad idea. It's as amusing as it is annoying.

I dont think murderstroking can let you impale someones head. The whole purpose of the technique is because you cant puncture plate armor, even if its only like 1mm thick, and I think helms were at least 1.5 mm thick everywhere ad maybe 2 or 2.5mm at the hardest points. The idea of the murder stroke is to rock someones head so as to inflict damage to the neck or maybe get a concussion or KO. Even just putting someone on queer street for a followup or knock them down.
