Got a force of Skaven composed of mostly Verminus en Skryre.

So 1 finished IoB set+Arch Warlock+Cannon is what I have atm.

The plan is to have 1 verminus Clawpack and 1 Clan Skryre Battalion. Also working on a converted HPA made from the new plastic boneripper + 5 skryre acoltyes and some stormfiends.

They are still possible but they are no longer automatic pass because a roll of 1 is always a failure.

Getting a 1+ save is still helpful when dealing with Rend

Well, stag beetles were a think I long expected them to make. Anub'arak is based on a Scarab. But yes, AoS is very similar to WoW.

Funny thing is, you get shit like this in a recent comic (I think GW did legal shit or are in current process of). Which is funny, as Malekith is literally named after a Marvel Dark Elf villain with a burnt face and a mask.

Hello guys, I'm sooo very new to this. Basically I bought Warhammer Quest : Silver Tower because I love me some dungeon crawling and decided to buy the Age of Sigmar starter because the games can expand each other and I've always half wanted to try it (also I had a voucher).

Thing is, I kind of wanted to make a Slaanesh Army because the idea always seemed funny to me. And now I hear Slaanesh is no longer in ? I know pretty much nothing of the lore (Only played Chaos in the Old World and a couple games of 40k), but can you still play Slaanesh ? Can you play mixed army groups ? Like Slaanesh/Tzeench or Nurgle ?
>>
>>47988967

>>
>>47988810

>>
>>47988970
Slaaneshi still exists. His armies still exist. He will be a plot point at a later date. He was captured by two 'good' gods and was a reason why Chaos ended up raping everybody and making Sigmar run away and cry.

Yes you can mix them up.
>>
>>47988965

They do for these rules.

Look at this shit.

10 Wounds.
10 Bravery
12" Move at Max Health
3+/3+ -2 Rend 2 Damage, 8 Attacks. Potential 16 Damage.
IGNORES REND. GHAL MARAZ. DREAD SAURIANS. IT IGNORES THEIR -3. It also IGNORES MORTAL WOUNDS ON A 4+.
AUTO ATTACKS AGAIN ON EVERY 6+. KEEPS GOING.
HEALS D3 WOUNDS EVERY SLAIN MODELS.
-2 to hit within 6" if you're 6 Bravery or Less. -1 to hit within 6" if you're 7 or more.

2+ models hit on a 3+/4+. It always makes a 3+ save (2+ with a wizard protecting him). Ignores Mortal Wounds on a 4+. Heals. Massive movement range.

Shame he sucks. Bit too much for me. I mean he's neat, but he isn't great. Not when Star Drakes can do the same shit he can do but it's a HERO PHASE ability, not a magic ability, so can't be dispelled.

Ah fuck it. Lizardmen are fucked. I had hoped the prices would have been reasonable since nothing seemed to fit any logic and some of their units are down right useless.

Such is life.

Thanks.

I'm pretty new to AoS and I just flicked over every other faction. To me, quickly, the Skinks (bar Chameleons and Heroes) Razordons, Saurus Warriors and Saurus Knights were pretty poor. Stegadon Dart Throwers are too situational (better against Skaven than Ogres).

Though Bastildons, Ripperdactyls, Saurus Guard and specific formations are neat. I'm just upset me 200 odd Skinks are kinda useless no matter how I build them.

I used to play Tzeentch warriors (Arcanites in AoS from what I've found), but GW lists only 2 lords for them on their site.
Should I only play Daemons for now, or can you pick warriors dedicated to a god ?
>>
>>47989095
>>47989086
Yeah with Summoning neutered there's very little reason to bring Kroak. It's a shame because his model is excellent.

Celestial Deliverance is difficult to get value from because it puts him in a position that enemy flyers or fast cavalry or deep strikers can assassinate him. You basically have to surround him with Guard and an Eternity Warden or risk losing him at any time.

Comet's Call is great on paper but in actual games it barely tickles enemy units and heroes... assuming you actually manage to cast it because a 7+ is only a 58.33% chance (with no modifiers).
The only great use of Comet's Call is killing enemy warmachine crew across the map.

His Command Ability is underwhelming at best.

Bring a Skink Starseer + Slann Starmaster instead and save yourself 120 points

>>47989146
There's a ton of indirect nerfs for Seraphon in this book so it's justified complaining.

It's definitely better for the game overall, though. For example, I won't need infinite Ripperdactyl attacks if my enemies aren't able to bring Nagash + 3 mortarchs or 3 Phoenixes to every game.

>>
>>47989157
Razordons are good at killing infantry. This wasn't useful before now because people generally just brought monsters, but now that Battleline units are a thing the Razordon 2D6 Rend-1 hits are going to be fantastic.

Knights were underwhelming in most Wound based systems but with the right buffs (and there are a LOT of buffs you can give them) they can do a lot. I think with points involved they will see more play, especially when paired with a Troglodon nearby for devastating Battleshock phases.
>>
>>47989189

Chaos Lords can be Tzeentch. Daemon Princes too. Gaunt Summoners are the unique one you have.

What do you guys think of this little idea?
I'm thinking about building a tiny army. Calling them The Lost Sons of Middenheim.
Five Liberators. Five Judicators. One Castellent (I just think it's a cooler model than the Cellestant).
The rest, I'd do Freeguild. General. Freeguild Guard. Freeguild Greatswords. Knightly Orders (I dunno where to find those or what would be a good proxy). I'd mainly paint them, Stormcasts too, in the old blue and white scheme some fur stuff added.

And this.

So, you have plenty of alternate models, if you want to keep to Tzeentch.
>>
>>47989205
Salamanders are better at killing highly armored targets like heroes and monsters. They have 1 shot on a 3+/3+ with Rend-2 that deals D6 damage and possibly additional mortal wounds afterwards.

Razordons rip apart 4+ save models (typical infantry) because they have 2D6 shots at 3+/4+ Rend-1 (with hit1 rerolls) and they can fire instantly against charging units nearby.

Each unit has their uses. Neither is strictly better on paper.
>>
>>47989222
Doesn't seem that bad, i'd say yes.

However i don't think you can field this battalion at all, assuming you're going for matched play.

GW didn't bother to include points for legacy stuff, and so the old PDF formations can't be used until they do, if ever.
>>
>>47989250
Sounds neat. Middenheim would, unfortunately, be a place in the Mortal Realms. But you just say it was named after a location of myth or named by a Seer who saw the original in a dream or some shit.

As for the Knights, Ebay will be the best bet.

Sure, sounds cool. Get some Protectors, too. They play very well with what you intend to take, forming the essential stormcast defensive brick.

Stormcast feel better when they are allied to humans and shit, i like seeing less of them in small elite units. When they come down in a massed army it just looks stupid.

Yeah basically

A squad of 3 Razordons does 6D6 attacks. I love seeing peoples faces when I send 30+ attacks into them after they charge my line of Skinks, have my Skinks retreat instead of piling in, and then they lose more models in battleshock phase.

Baiting charges like this is the best feeling in the world.
>>
>>47989328
Yeah, battalions cost points to field now in matched play.

I don't see 'Great Moonclan' on that image, maybe it's been cropped off.

So far i have yet to see any PDF battalion OR battalion found within a starting/bundle box with a points cost.

Someone in the last thread seemed to think these are hidden in the book, and i can only hope so.
>>
Wait, one of the books Josh Reynolds wrote suggests that some of the Skullgrinders are daemons, or can't technically die.

He also seemed to like the idea of making Soulforge and awesome weapons.

Also one of his books, he has a Bloodthirster shout out "Child of She-Who-Devours-The'Sun" or something. What the fuck is he on about? He then has his Skullgrinder character talk about binding her or some shit.

Also, in the Bridge of Seven Souls, Tarcus, saves Mannfred... Then in a later book he turns back? Is this explained? I've yet to listen to Siege of Cartha, Fist of Gork, Fist of Mork, or Red Thirst.

Thanks. Again with the once-per-battle command abilities. I don't know about that, if I'm honest. It sure is powerful, no doubt, but catching the right moment to fire it off will be tricky. I kinda prefer more low-key stuff that continuously provides benefits.

>Essaim de Tressangulles
By order of Drycha , a swarm of [something] arises to assault the nearby enemies . When attacking with this weapon , choose an enemy unit and roll a die for each model in the unit located á 10 " or less. For each result greater than or equal to the number indicated in the table of damage , the unit undergoes mortal wound.

>>
Copy pasting from my translation in a gaming group's facebook page.

-Roll a die for each wound you did to a dude that didn't die. If the total is greater than remaining wounds, or you roll double 6, dude is dead
-Heals D3 ever one of your hero phase
-Beetle adds +1 to hit if enemy unit has 5 or more dudes
-When beetle charges, if beetles ends in or within 1" of terrain, all enemy units in terrain suffer D3 mortal wounds
-That table is just a straight roll in the hero phase. You can figure it out (free dudes or healing)
-Spell casts on a 5. Pick a unit within 16". Roll a D6. Roll as many D6 as the total (if you rolled a 5, roll 5 D6). On a 4+, mortal wound. If you kill the unit, setup a fucking Wildwood
Command ability is "Once per game, board-wide you can reroll failed to wounds for all your Sylvaneth"
EDIT:
She can cast 3 spells a turn. Hello 2+ save Allarielle!
>>
>>47989470
When the hype die these models ll be dismissed by everyone besides Alarielle and maybe Drycha
>>
So, from what I can tell she can roll a dice each hero phase:

1-3 every Sylvaneth unit within 30(!!!) inches recovers D3 wounds.
4: summon 2D6 Dryads.
5: summon D6 Tree-Revenants
6: summon a Tree Lord.

I can't seem to find any way this can fail, but my French is not good. In any case, she is incredible!

There are Mortal Realms that have dreams of an old God calling them to war. To fight and defend what's theirs.

Only their forces Marshal, Ryzla Aserveti and a few other chosen lts. to her escaped, with Rylza being given the blood kiss by a unknown vampire. Crushed and maddend by her failure to protect her people, Rylza found solace in serving Nagash, her memory of the rebellion scoured from her mind. Now, she's practically Nagash's 1# fan girl, always trying her hardest to earn his favor. Currently messing around with the list for Sylvaneth, just to get a feel for what I need to order besides 'one of everything'. I already have one of the WHFB versions of the Sylvaneth box.
No matter how I dice it, a list with Alarielle, Drycha and Durthu is probably not that good an idea.

I really want three units of Kurnoth Hunters, one for each weapon type. Maybe two bow units, since range can be an issue.
Tree Revenants I would have sworn to be 2-wound infantry, especially given their cost and pillow-fistedness. Still, solid mobility and that weird reroll ability should give them some job. Ten guys seem reasonable.
Drychanought seems like she wants some Spite Revenants, which are the only model that leaves me cold so far, so I don't really know what to do there.
The Branchwych is weird, I don't really know what to make of her.

Durthu's ability to just vomit a Wyldwood on the table is so significant, I don't know how I will do without it, if I'm honest. I *really* hope there'll be some batallions that include Wyldwoods, since I can't just buy them and Alarielle's spell is not that reliable.

3x Kroxigor
1x Bastiladon
1x Stegadon
1x Engine of the Gods

Total: 2000pt

There are some options:
The Kroxigors could be replaced with 3x Salamanders or 3x Razordons
The 5x Saurus Guard could be replaced with 10x Saurus Warriors instead
Terradons can be swapped for Ripperdactyls

A quick question, if I have an Anointed as my general and give him the Master of Defence trait and he's under the effect of an Archmage's spell, does he get to roll three dice to ignore every wound he gets or do the effects not stack?
>>
>>47995053
Yes he does. So long as the abilities don't have the same name, they stack.
>>
>>47994898
Since it's already saying 18€ black on white I'm reasonably sure it'll stay that way for now.
>>
>>47995053
I don't know if there is any proper clarification for that in the rules but since the abilities are all pretty much just ward saves we say they don't stack in my LGS.
>>
>>47988463
Not seeing points for hellcannon in the leak.
>>
For my command trait, what would be better for my Maw Krusha?

>Every attack wounding on 2+
>Extra d6+2 movement for pretty much my whole army every turn
>>
>>47995379
Check again. 300 pts
>>
>>47995408
Depends. Do you play more Brutes than Gore-Gruntas? If so, then +2 to the bonus move it is.
Brutes are notoriously hard to get into melee and the Artifacts have plenty of stuff to make your Megaboss killier.
>>
>>47995408
Since your Taking a Maw-krusha you're obviously playing Ironjaw. Since they're a pretty slow army but super killy in close combat the extra move is in my opinion the more worthwhile trait.
>>
Damn. Really need to see thanquol and boneripper cost if I am to make a 2500. Here is my 2k:

-plague furnace
-40 plague monks
-40 plague monks
>congregation of filth, 840 points
-plague furnace
-10 plague censer bearers
-10 plague censer bearers
>plaguesmog congregation, 540 points
-2 plague claws
-verminlord corruptor (general)
>>
>>47995408
Ask yourself: What is the problem Ironjawz are infamous for? Lacking punch on their heroes or being an army that is slow as molasses but has neither teleports nor ranged game?
>>
Why is every epub I download so fucked up and unreadable?
>>
>>47988838
Which is why they renamed Malekith into Malerion to avoid just that problem.
>>
>>47995576
Because they're done for tablets, not normal ebook-readers. Which is fucking bullshit by the way. Just grab the nicely-formatted pdfs
>>
>>47995408
>>47995559

The biggest problem is if one wants to play pure ironjaw they dont get the destruction bonus. None of the units are battleline unless you go for ironjaw alliance and if you do you don't get the destruction stuff... Best thing if one goes pure ironjaws is get the formation that gives d6 movement.
>>
>>47995775
Do you have to have allegiance to a faction to use their battalions?
>>
Also... Am i being blind or is there no points for throgg and other chaos monsters? I used to have a monster army in 8th and i from what im seeing it doesn't seem like i can use it on AoS

On a sidenote... THROGG IS ALIVE! WOOOO

Very briefly mentioned in one of the big books (i beleive its number 1)

So shout out to all monster bros out there.
>>
>>47995822
Can't say the same for Skrolk :(
>>
>>47995796

No you don't however all ironjaw units are expensive so if you want both the formation and the alliance bonus then a lot of points will have to be spent. At 1000 points this can hemorrhage you. For higher points then there's no problem.
>>
>>47995775
I feel like that is just poorly worded, to be honest. It makes no sense for Destruction in general to have artefacts, traits and boni while the subfactions get the shaft.
I feel like this is more meant to encourage sticking to one grand alliance in the first place.
>>
>>47995775
I think you're better of just swallowing your pride and taking a different destrucion battleline unit. You can take two gitmob grot units for 60 each. That's a 120 pts for the destruction traits and artefacts and you can park the 40 goblins on a scenario objective and have them take potshost with their bows.

Well unless you don't have any grots lying around. I forgot alot of people probably only just started with the ironjaws.
>>
>>47989885
>2" range
real small dicks though
>>
Do you think it would be ok to run multiple of 10s units in say 15? It's kinda bullshit that units that have minimum 5 can only get 10s now. The only counter argument is that ifor you allow that it gets a bit minmax-y.
>>
>>47995932
You HAVE to stick to one grand alliance. Mixing is not allowed.
>>
>>47995932
To me it just seem that every subfaction will gain warlord traits and relics soon.

I really don't understand how this is so hard for you people. If it ain't in the pdf of your Grand Alliance check the legacy pdf.

This would make sense because the BT/CT/Artefacts are all really underwhelming for Seraphon

Being able to reroll Battleshock tests doesn't really make sense when you have Bravery 10 across the board

>>47996089

Note that while the alliance bonus say that you need a Grand Alleance allegiance, artefact and traits say that any army gets them.

This is all such a congealed mess that I don't know where to begin in terms of evaluating models/stats/functionality.
I have to put in my order for the TGG2 Kickstarter in like 12 hours.
Is there anyway to make a functional army out of all that?

Yeah you can. It just consists of dragon ogres and shaggoths.

Derp, I'm a dumb dumb. The options are Dark Elves, or Chaos in general.
I'm not really sold on Warriors of Chaos, aside from their crazy big model lords.

Also, semi-related:
Are the rules changed at all? Or can you still shoot into combat and shoot while fighting? Because as I recall, in Age of Sigmar not only do you roll off to see who goes first each turn, but a model can shoot out of combat into another combat and still swing at whomever is in front of him.
>>
>>47996523
Base rules haven't changed, why would they?

Shooting while in melee is fine. Rolling off for turns adds a strategic element to the game.
>>
>>47996441
Outside of the Mournghoul-anon trying to force that one image there has been very little bullshit as of late, lizardwhining notwithstanding.
Between General's Handbook and Sylvaneth there's little to be mad about right now, I suppose.

Actually, has someone shown the new treefolk to the WHFB general? I' m curious how they feel about this release...
>>
>>47996567
Doesn't that just make shooting infantry strictly better, since they get twice as many combat actions per turn?
I mean, presumably I could shoot you with my bow then hit you with my sword and just double down.
>>
>>47988681
Painting up the starter box army, calling them Sigmar's Silver Hammer, Silver with bone white shields and shoulders, red fabrics and gold accents.

Fluff wise I really like the stuff about Nagash ripping at the souls of stormcast who are reforged, so I'm imagining these guys as a host of stormcast who have fallen and been reforged too many times and are losing their humanity, barely more than zombies at this point with no love, fear or even hope left in their souls. Sigmar still sends them into battle though because fearless (at least while their Lord-Celestant is there to order them around) makes them an effective enough strike force.
>>
>>47996610
>Doesn't that just make shooting infantry strictly better, since they get twice as many combat actions per turn?
No, it doesn't. Most shooting units have lackluster melee attacks and crumble quickly if caught in melee.

And no, they don't get twice as many attacks. You get one round of shooting on your turn while you get to use melee weapons on your turn and on an enemy turn as well. Since your opponent can go twice in a row you can often get two whole rounds of melee combat between your shooting attacks.

Shooting in melee is balanced. It's different, but it works just fine.
>>
>>47996610
Most shooting units have pretty inferior close combat attacks. There are exceptions but that's the general trend.
>>
>>47996610
On paper it would seem so, but not necessarily in practice.

You have to keep in mind that your shooters only shoot during your turn. So there is another turn where combat happens and they are getting their faces kicked in. I have found that generally shooting units suck in melee and don't last very long.
>>
>>47996610
Shooting infantry generally have shitty cc weapons and they can only shoot on your turn, so depending on turn rolls you might not get a chance to even in a 2 round combat.
>>
>>47996610
Shooting infantry is shit-awful in melee and will get their asses kicked in a hurry by even asemi-competent melee unit.
The few shooters that can hold themselves in a fight pay for that by being mediocre at both or being as durably as wet tissue.
>>

Somebody posted a review of the GH

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBWt5xuBqMQ
>>
>>47995053

It's in the faq. Different abilities don't stack. You just roll for each ability separately. So for example if you have two different abilities that give you a 6+ save vs mortal wounds you don't get a single 5+, you just get 2 chances at a 6+.
>>
Have we figured out yet if the summoning rules apply to Flesh-Eater Court stuff like the Ghoul King and Courtier abilities?
>>
>>47998394

People are saying that it's not controlled by the summoning rules but that you can't bring in models that will take you over your points cap. Take that with a grain of salt.
>>
Bit of a bummer that Alareielle has no defense against mortal wounds like the Nagash and Archeon.

She is good but I still think Nagash is so much stronger.
>>
>>47998660
her defense against mortal is her insane regeneration
>>
